"If you’re looking for a champagne and martini-fuelled time machine that gives you a taste of the 1980s heyday, then nowhere is doing it quite like Arlington. The European St. James’s restaurant has the feel of somewhere Mick Jagger would fall out of after a few bottles of bubbly and a cursory fish cake. Probably because Mick Jagger has fallen out of here several times when it was still Le Caprice. The monochrome dining room, lined with David Bailey portraits of famous faces, is relaxing, piano-filled, and potentially debauch all at once." - jake missing, daisy meager, sinead cranna, rianne shlebak
"The Verdict: Like an old Hollywood star back for one last blockbuster, Arlington isn’t perfect but by god, has it got something about it. The restaurant formerly known as Le Caprice has been totally restored—gleaming art deco features, creaking clientele, Princess Diana’s favourite fish cake, and all—to its former grandeur. Everything about this European spot in St. James’s feels like a tribute to the old days, from the notes of the pianist, to the all-day eggs Arlington. It isn’t the best restaurant in London, but it may well be the best nostalgia trip." - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak, jake missing
"Once known as Le Caprice, this St James’s restaurant has been resurrected—fittings, pianist, clientele, and all—to its former swinging glory. The European-ish food is something of a sideshow to the memories. A piquant beef tartare pleasantly surprises and bone-in chicken milanese is enjoyable, if a little lacking in crisp. That said, you won't come to Arlington for a gastronomic look into the future, you’ll come for an old-school, take-your-time lunch that’ll charm your boss into thinking it’s Friday." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak
"The bar at Arlington has seen things. Some of them good, some of them bad, and some of them looking like Mick Jagger on a bender. The legendary St James’s restaurant (it’s Le Caprice with a facelift and a new passport) is what most people dream of when they think of a meal at the counter: glamorous, old-timey, and gasping for champagne. The food is familiar, brasserie-ish stuff and we’d happily enjoy a caesar salad and chips here, soundtracked by a pianist, any day of the week." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak
