"If you've ever wanted to have a date in the parlor of the Clue mansion, head to Armitage Alehouse in Lincoln Park. It’s from the Bavette’s team, and has a 1920s jazz playlist, a dim dining room filled with old-timey artwork, great service, and fantastic food. The menu has dishes like steak tartare, lamb chops, plus a selection of incredible pot pies (like pheasant and foie gras). Between the prohibition-era soundtrack and windowless space, Armitage Alehouse has the ability to suck you in and magically make you forget that the world is spinning outside. Reservations are released 14 days in advance at 9am. The bar area and patio are reserved for walk-ins, however. If you come close to opening time (4:30pm on Sunday through Thursday, 12pm on Fridays, 10am on Saturday and Sunday), you’ll most likely find an empty seat or two." - adrian kane, john ringor, veda kilaru, nick allen
"The dim lighting, Victorian-inspired interior, and early 20th-century jazz music makes you want to wear flapper dresses and bowler hats at Armitage Alehouse. This upscale pub is from the team behind Bavette’s, Ciccio Mio, and Trivoli Tavern, and similarly, it’s also very popular. So though a bar seat may be open for a walk-in, you’ll need to book a reservation for a group dinner in the dining room. Order bar food, any of the rotating pot pies (which all have a marrow bone baked into their center), or the wagyu cheeseburger. Reservations are released 14 days in advance at 9am. The bar area and patio are reserved for walk-ins, however. "Signs you’re at a restaurant from the Bavette’s team: 1920s jazz, a dim dining room that feels like the Clue mansion, fantastic service, and great food. You’ll find all of the above at Armitage Alehouse in Lincoln Park. Like its predecessors, this place has the ability to suck you in and magically makes you forget the world is spinning outside. The menu is filled with pub-inspired dishes like steak tartare with anchovy aioli, a wonderful wagyu smashburger, and a selection of incredible rotating pot pies, like pheasant and foie gras, or steak and ale. Order as much as will fit on your table, and drag your meal out for as long as possible until you need to go back into the real world. Reservations are released 14 days in advance at 9am. The bar area and patio are reserved for walk-ins, however. If you come close to opening time (4:30pm on Sunday through Thursday, 12pm on Fridays, 10am on Saturday and Sunday), you’ll most likely find an empty seat or two." - adrian kane, john ringor
"A neighborhood restaurant frequently cited as an example of the difficulty customers face in securing popular reservation times, a situation lawmakers referenced when proposing anti-reservation-resale legislation." - Ashok Selvam
"Armitage Alehouse has been a mega-hit since opening in Lincoln Park from Hogsalt, the owners of Bavette’s and Au Cheval. They play it a little fast and loose with their idea of an English pub, with the menu going in a variety of directions. Nonetheless, the desserts have won over diners whether they’re enjoying a full meal, or stopping for a nightcap inside Hogsalt’s signature dimly lit dining rooms. The sticky date cake, topped with brown butter gelato isn’t really what they’d be serving in Londontown, but it’s a memorable sweet ending. Make your reservation on Resy." - Ashok Selvam
