"Chef Sudharshan Kasarapu brings a wide-ranging menu of Indian specialties to Claiborne Avenue with Aroma. Everything is delicious, including excellent malai tikka, vindaloo, and curries, as well as two kinds of fried cauliflower appetizers, and a refreshing number of vegan and vegetarian-friendly options. The interior has been redone since opening and now boasts a lovely, chandelier-lit dining room." - Beth D’Addono

I’m SO EXCITED that my favorite Indian restaurant opened a location uptown!!! I’ve been to the original location many times, and I can confirm that this location is just as great. I came with a group of 5 at 8pm and we were seated immediately. All of the food was absolutely delicious, as usual. Our server, a nice young man, was very professional and attentive. I tried the rose lassi and the coconut shrimp curry for the first time, and both of these were very good. I will definitely return to Aroma!!

Our family came here since we often eat Indian food back home in Houston, and it was excellent! The mild Tikka Masala was mild enough for our kids, but still flavorful, and the garlic naan was perfect. Service was great as well. I’d highly recommend if you’re looking for solid Indian Food in a great quiet part of town.

The most Amazing restaurant! Luscious is a word, succulent too, zesty also and happy and fun to describe our experience. 2nd time here, it's a must every time I visit NOLA now.. and I grew up here. We love this place. Chai steeped in a pot in the kitchen, you will admit, once tried, that you have never tasted better. Mayur is a fine host and waiter who is genuinely happy when you enjoy your meal. Ok enough, go there or be square!

Had a great time. The food was excellent. The people were very friendly and welcoming. Played many Hindi music. Good place to explore Indian food in NOLA. The Masala Dosa was awesome. Also, we tried the lamb biriani, tandoori, nun and painr something. Each item was very tasty. Spice level was balanced.

The food is amazing! I'm glad we found this restaurant a few months back. I haven't had one dish I've been disappointed in. The atmosphere is humble with music playing. The staff is very helpful if you're not sure what to eat. A real gem showcasing India's cuisine.

Google
Delicious Indian food, cozy atmosphere, and stellar service! So happy to have this new addition to the Uptown food scene. It has historically been a pretty small pool of Indian restaurants where we could go in for a sit-down dinner service, and we were eager to try this new location of Aroma. We've enjoyed ordering from their original Downtown location, but the new Magazine street spot is much more convenient for us to go in for a sit-down meal. We went with 2 kids, parents, grandparents, ages ranging 7-75, and everyone left happy! Flavorful food (don't sleep on the Kaju chicken!!), generous portions, and a very attentive staff made for a wonderful evening. Look forward to going back!

Google
Very delicious and tasty! Tasted authentic and the service was very polite and helpful. I ordered the somosas, chicken masala, and garlic and butter naan. Everything tasted amazing and the sauces and flavors blended so beautifully. If you’re into spices, I would ask before you order because the spices are very hot; they’re Indian spices which tend to be more flavorful and more versatile. Overall, very good and I would recommend to a friend.

Yelp
Food was delicious! I absolutely loved the Dosa, I just wish it was served all day not just at certain times.

Yelp
I was very excited to try Aroma on Magazine Street. The restaurant was well-decorated, and the service was friendly. I was thrilled to see Pani Puri on the menu because I had been wanting to try it after seeing it all over my TikTok, and it was absolutely delicious. Very airy, light and flavorful. The two sauces that came with it were both tasty, with the minty one being my favorite. The samosas were a perfect size for two. The chili chicken had a nice level of spice-not too hot, but full of flavor. We also ordered the garlic naan and butter chicken but forgot to take a picture of it. The naan had a lovely garlic flavor, was the right size and a nice crispy texture. The butter chicken was creamy and tender. I would definitely go back.

Yelp
Wonderful meal from start to finish! My new roommate took me out to eat and I chose Aroma's new location. I'd tried their other spot under the freeway, but it's not so pleasant for dine-in. This one has a warm, inviting ambience and servers are friendly. We tried: veg pakodas, veg Manchurian, veg samosas, butter naan, peshawari naan, vegetable korma made with coconut milk, chole masala, and aloo ghobi. The veg pakodas were different than I'm used to, (small morsels rather than a specific number of larger ones) but they were aromatic and crisp and I greatly enjoyed them. The samosas were perfect, too, with some lovely chutney which I ate with my curry. The chole masala was only *slightly* too spicy for my taste but it was still amazing. The korma was flawless--just the right amount of spice and the veggies tasted fresh. I didn't try the aloo ghobi or peshawari naan, but my roommate said the aloo ghobi was great and the peshawari was a bit too sweet for him. My butter naan was fantastic--I could have eaten two of them! Overall a fantastic dinner. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Lovely venue nicely decorated. Very pleasant servers., thanks. Food was served hot fresh and quickly. All items as listed in photographs were tasty especially like the seasoned bread. I'm sorry I forget the name, but it was at the top of the list.

Yelp
The mango lassi is exceptionally good and quite sweet. I like any other lassi I've had. It will surely cut the heat. I got the chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. The non-was made to absolute perfection :-) I highly recommend this restaurant. Despite us being the only people in there at 4:30 in the evening it was amazing and don't let that dissuade you. I'm sure it ramps up in the evening.

Yelp
Did a takeout order of butter chicken, rice and mulligatawny. The food was flavorful but there was more sauce than chicken in the butter chicken.

Yelp
What an amazing restaurant! We ordered takeout before the snowstorm hit, and we absolutely loved it. As soon as the snow clears, we'll definitely be back. We tried the butter chicken and Chicken 65--both were delicious! The butter chicken came with a small serving of rice, which was a bit on the smaller side, but we'd ordered an extra, so no problem. The Chicken 65 didn't come with rice, but it was packed with flavor and plenty of food. Can't wait to return!

Yelp
Currently eating my butter chicken and a little upset that my naan is hard. The best part is the naan, why am I struggling to chew it?? I normally go to the one on Claiborne but tried the magazine one. Going to stick with that one.

Yelp
Food and flavors are robust and amazing! Not a connoisseur of Indian food but every bite had so much flavor.

Yelp
Cool night and door was open set the tone for a fantastic spicy meal. Sakesh was a great server who made the best appetizer selections. Food was very fresh and delish!! Would go again!!

Yelp
You know you're going to have some good food when you can smell the spices several doors down. I'm so excited this restaurant has expanded to its newest location in the Irish Channel and a block away for my job. The best Indian food in the city without a doubt. Great location, cozy Ambiance, and a very knowledgeable staff of the menu items. I had the lamb curry, garlic Naan, lentil soup and the samosas. Everything was cooked to order, fresh and great flavor. Will definitely be back and bring friends.

Yelp
Highly recommend! The dal makhani and paneer butter masala were incredible. Service was great too.

Yelp
I'm so happy they opened up this second location close to home. Great Indian food and always consistent.
