These Are the Best Bakeries in London Right Now

"Blending French and Asian influences, this Fitzrovia bakery makes a bold signature honey butter toast using thick-cut, caramelized shokupan that delivers an unapologetically intense, crowd-pleasing flavor." - Stacey Leasca

The 19 Best Bakeries In London

"For: Honey butter toast The people behind Malaysian restaurant Rasa Sayang teamed up with a French patissier to create this bakery in Covent Garden’s St Martin’s Courtyard. The spread of pastries on their counter is a “just give me one of everything please” situation. They’ve got pistachio chocolate escargots, pineapple and mango danish pastries that look like a work of art, but it’s the sweet honey butter toast that has the perfect fluff-to-crunch ratio. It’s a golden, thick slice of toast, with a sweet, crunchy exterior and light, airy dough inside. Warburtons could never." - rianne shlebak, sinead cranna, daisy meager

Where To Eat When You’re Shopping In Covent Garden

"Arome Bakery is your classic love story. Great Malaysian restaurant teams up with top French pâtissier and the rest is history. Okay, so it’s not quite your classic love story but this union has resulted in a seriously lovely bakery in St Martin’s Courtyard. You’ll inevitably spend five minutes perusing the display counter before saying ‘please just give me one of everything’ and trust us, you won’t regret that decision. Everything from the pistachio and chocolate escargots to the pineapple and mango danish is excellent, but it’s the fluffy sweet honey butter toast that is an absolute must-order. There’s also plenty of coffee available and some tables so it’ll work just as well for a quick retail rest as for a grab-and-go sugar high." - heidi lauth beasley

Arôme Bakery - Review - Covent Garden - London - The Infatuation

"The people behind Malaysian restaurant Rasa Sayang teamed up with a French patissier to create this bakery in Covent Garden’s St Martin’s Courtyard. After you spend five minutes staring at everything before saying ‘just give me one of everything to-go please’, zoom in on the pistachio chocolate escargots, pineapple and mango danish pastries that look like a work of art, and a sweet honey butter toast that has the perfect fluff-to-crunch ratio. Everything here is pretty great. Warburtons could never. There are only a handful of tables but if you're alone or with one other person then a pastry and flat white is a perfect way to start a day in Covent Garden." - Rianne Shlebak

This was probably our fifth visit to Arome, and once again, it lived up to expectations. One of the things we love most is their consistency—you always know the quality and taste will be spot on. We had our go-to honey butter toast (a must-try!) and a quiche, which was also very good. Drinks could use some improvement—there’s definitely better value and flavor to be found elsewhere. Seating can feel a bit tight, especially with the constant crowds, but the food continues to be worth it every time.

Absolutely worth the hype! I waited in line for about 20–25 minutes, but it was totally worth it. The honey butter toast was addictive—rich, buttery, and just banging! I still can’t get over it. I also tried the quiche, lemon tart, and sausage croissant, and everything was delicious and thoughtfully made. The ambience is minimal but really clean, fresh, and inviting—perfect for a quiet morning bite. The only downside was the drinks, which felt pretty average and basic compared to the quality of the food. Still, I’ll be back just for that honey butter alone!

Bought from Arome a few times before. This time bought one of my favorite - egg tart. The egg part tasted and had a texture like steamed egg/milk pudding (what we call 燉蛋 in Chinese). Tasty and not too sweet (I found many supermarket bought egg custard tarts too sweet). It was a bit overpriced though.. I went there around 1pm on a weekday. Line was not long.

Absolutely loved my visit to Arôme! I ordered the Honey Butter Toast and the Danish Pesto Croissant — both were phenomenal. The toast was perfectly crisp with just the right amount of sweetness, and the croissant was buttery, flaky, and packed with rich pesto flavor. Everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and bursting with taste. The vibe of the place is cozy and welcoming, and the staff were lovely too. I’ve shared some photos because these treats deserve to be seen. Highly recommend for anyone looking for quality pastries with a twist. Can’t wait to go back!

We stopped by in a Saturday around 9 am and luckily there was no line! We tried the honey butter toast and pistachio chocolate escargot. Both items were tasty but I really enjoyed the pistachio chocolate escargot - the pastry itself was buttery and flaky and I really appreciated that I could taste the pistachio in the filling. Definitely worth a stop for pastries.

Really good service even for a takeaway. Got there a little later than hoped for and unfortunately missed the cappuccino croissant as well as the honey toast :( tried one sweet pistachio and choc and a savoury chicken sausage croissant. Both were delicious, fresh, fluffy and big! I really liked how the flavours worked together. Opted for a mocha, wasn’t bad but tiny. Really liked the ambiance and decor of Arôme bakery. Will definitely visit again for the honey toast and cappuccino 🥐. Definitely worth the hype as far as what I’ve tried goes!

The honey butter toast was simply scrumptious ! Coffee did not disappoint and the best matcha so far after trying 5 different stores that serve it. Service was exceptional-everyone was so warm and welcoming , with lovely smiles despite the unending queue. Totally worth the hype!

Worth the wait! Wanting to try this viral bakery of London for long time and glad we went on a weekday around noon. There was a queue already and when we went in their viral Honey butter toast was already finished! Glad the made another batch and we got the taste of heaven. A must visit! Their coffee is not impressive but everything else looked delicious, we tried few things and got some home as well and all of those were absolute treats! Thank you.
