NYC’s New Restaurant Openings - New York - The Infatuation

"In Ridgewood, Arrigo’s is a sandwich shop from the team behind Daphne’s, an Italian restaurant in Bed-Stuy. It features a tight menu of seven sandwiches and a few pastas. On the weekends, they sell a potato and egg sandwich with salsa verde and garlic aioli." - will hartman, willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, sonal shah, bryan kim

Best New Restaurants in Queens, July 2025: According to Eater Editors | Eater NY

"This new Italian spot comes from the owner of popular neighborhood spot Daphne’s over in Bed-Stuy; chef Paul Cacici is no stranger to the area, having opened Decades, a Ridgewood pizzeria nearby (with a separate partner). At the order-at-the-counter Arrigo’s of Fresh Pond Road, it’s all about Italian sandwiches. In particular, the veggie-friendly one with marinated artichokes, artichoke ricotta cream, onion, and mint-basil pesto was a favorite, but there’s also an Italian combo and meatball sub to consider. Their arancini are also some of our favorites we’ve ever had. Keep an eye out for nighttime service, where they’ll serve casual dinner items and wine sometime soon." - Caroline Shin

Came across this spot on a Sunday stroll and I'm happy I decided to try it. The staff was very friendly and helpful! I got the chicken cutlet sandwich and it was delicious (eat half there, and took the rest home). I also was "fan-girling" over the bread ( it's perfectly), I was so happy and proud to hear that is is sourced from a local bakery. I definitely recommend!

Cute spot, tasty sandwich. If you get the Italian combo to go just know it will leak through the paper bag so put it in a plastic bag.

worth checking out! The food is delicious . I had the potatoes and eggs (only available on the weekends), and my husband had the meatballs both were delicious, flavorful. We had their coffee leaned more toward an Americano, which I loved, it was strong, smooth, and just perfect. The space itself is clean and really inviting. The kitchen is open, and you can see the chef and crew working totally in sync and laser focused. Can’t wait to go back.

I stopped by this place and decided to try the shaved beef sandwich—let me tell you, it was absolutely delicious. The beef was packed with flavor, tender, and juicy—honestly, one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Every bite was just full of that rich, savory taste that makes you want to slow down and enjoy it. The only thing that caught me off guard was the peppers that came with it. They were way spicier than I expected! If you love a good kick of heat, you’ll probably love them, but if you’re like me and prefer things on the milder side, you might want to ask them to go easy on the spice or see if they can adjust it. Other than that, I was really impressed. You can tell they put a lot of care into every part of the plate—from the freshness of the bread to the balance of flavors. It’s clear they pay attention to the little details, and that really made the meal special. I’d definitely come back!

Went for their opening night of dinner tonight and had a really fantastic meal provided by a great chef and lovely team. Everything was really delicious and it all made for a lovely night. The sandwiches had already been so good and it’s really exciting to have another solid spot to enjoy in the neighborhood.

Great new addition to the neighborhood, all the dishes were great but my favorites were the focaccia & pea salad. Can’t wait to see what new dishes they’ll come up with

The shaved ribeye sandwich is amazing! Split this and the Italian combo and could barely finish—the sandwiches are pretty big (and I like a big sandwich). Service was super fast and friendly!

Don’t leave many reviews and we are big eaters (my wife works in hospitality PR) - but wanted to leave one for this new small restaurant. Came for dinner on opening week and the food was absolutely perfect. Every bite. The crudo, focaccia and salads were fire. The pastas (especially the rigatoni meat sauce) were some of the best we’ve had. And the dessert (soft serve) was the perfect finale. We’ll be back many times (and excited to come back for lunch).

Yelp
The Italian sub at Arrigo's is so good! It's on the pricier side but I've split one between two people for lunch and it's a good amount of food. I usually place an order online and by the time I walk over (it's about 10 minutes from where I live), it's ready. We've also enjoyed their meatball sub. They were offering a shrimp cocktail for a while and it was so refreshing. Huge shrimp, horseradish-y cocktail sauce, what's not to love? The arancini also make a nice snack. Glad to have Arrigo's in our lunchtime rotation. Excited to try out their dinner service once that opens up.

Yelp
Sandwich and Pasta shop by day; Italian restaurant by night. We walked in on a weeknight for dinner service. They were fully booked but had a cancellation, so they were able to fit us in. Reservation is recommended if you're coming in the evening. Very romantic atmosphere considering it's a sandwich shop by day and there is a display case at the front of the restaurant. They did a nice job of turning over the space. Quite nice what lighting can do. We started with the cacio e pepe arancini and the pea pod salad. Arancini was crispy with a savory and gooey filling. Pea pod salad had radicchio, cucumbers, and mint too. The salad was very well dressed. It was crisp and a great summer time dish. The sourdough focaccia came out next. I'd describe it as a savory pancake with a generous pesto butter. Pancake for dinner is a trend I can certainly get behind. I don't think I've had this elsewhere and I liked how herb forward it was. For the main course, we shared the pork chop. It was served with three different roasted peppers which I loved being a person who likes to make his pan roasted pepper sauce. Pork chop was cooked perfectly to our requested medium. It was glazed with a sweet sauce and plated over a bed of grilled corn. I had a glass of white wine with the meal. Just one white wine option by the glass. A couple reds by the glass plus a few more options by the bottle. There was one single occupancy restroom.

Yelp
Always looking for a good Italian sandwich shop. And this was pretty good! I'll say the menu could be a bit more diverse as there wasn't so much I was interested in. But I think what we got was great! We started with the arancini, which was easily my favorite part of the meal. Don't usually love arancini but I think think the flavoring of this was delightful. Cacio e pepe was the flavor of the day. Sandies: - Shaved rib eye: I'll say my favorite part of either sandi was the bread and this was just a skosh too soggy for the bread. The meat was good but I'm not sure what was so spicy about the flavoring? Maybe the marinated peppers. - Italian combo: simple, classic, easy. Definitely my preferred of the two. Admittedly on the expensive side. And took a little bit long for what it was. Considered by one to go for a meal the next day but ultimately think it was better we cut ourselves off at these. Would come back for more options and hope that they do rotate their options around a bit.

Yelp
Another instant hit for Ridgewood, this is an amazing new sandwich and pasta shop from the Daphne's team. I got there at noon after an 11am opening and they were already out of cutlets, so you know the neighborhood came out in full force. I tried 4 sandwiches on the excellent, crusty semolina, and all were great. The winner was the Shaved Ribeye, but there are still so many more I need to try. Don't forget the pasta too, the Vodka Rigatoni was among the best I've had recently. They will start a seasonal rotating dinner menu soon too, so I'll definitely be back at all hours.

Yelp
Really good sandwich but they shouldn't cut the end of the bread off but the ribeye was on the money with the hot peppers

Yelp
I ordered pickup, so I can't comment on the ambiance of the physical store yet, but it was hopping on a rainy Wednesday at 12:30. I ordered the Italian combo and it was top notch. So much flavor in a sandwich and the bread was perfect. Also ordered the shaved ribeye for my husband who said his was also outstanding. Worth the price (we will both get 2 lunches out our sandwiches) and worth the walk in the rain to pick it up. Definitely will be returning. Update: finished the sandwich the next day and the bread was still fresh and not soggy after 24 hours in the fridge!

Yelp
I had the Eggplant Parm sandwich. It was very good, very fresh. The bread work so well and the pesto made it.

Yelp
Absolutely loved this place! I had the chicken cutlet sandwich, and it was clear the cutlet was made fresh--not prepped ahead of time. It came out hot, crispy, and perfectly cooked. Every ingredient complemented the next--nothing overpowering, just a perfectly balanced bite each time. Even the bread stood out--truly exceptional. I also tried the meatballs, which I always use as a benchmark for a good Italian place. The ratio of bread to meat was just right and the sauce was excellent.

Yelp
An Instagram restaurant. Expensive, small portions/minimal fillings, no interest in the neighborhood. I thought the soft serve (which is yummy, though also costly for serving size) would be a saving grace, but nope: you can't get it in the evening unless sitting for a meal. Owners: please move to Williamsburg.
