Where To Eat Outside In Pasadena - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"One of the best spots in Pasadena for a fancy-ish meal, Arroyo Chop House has laid out turf, brought in a bunch of planters, and converted their parking lot into an oasis on Arroyo Pkwy. They’ve got steaks, burgers, and plenty of martinis." - brett keating

The 18 Best Restaurants In Pasadena

"At steakhouses, you probably know what to expect: formal service, high-quality meat, and steep prices. Arroyo Chop House definitely has all those things, but it still stands out from the STKs and Ruth’s Chris’ of the world. We won’t bury the lead, though—the best thing here is actually the chocolate soufflé, which you order at the beginning of your meal because it takes 45 minutes to make. It’s super fluffy and tastes like chocolate clouds. The meat and sides are both good, too—the rib eye is our favorite—along with classic, very well-done sides like creamed spinach, scalloped potatoes, and jalapeño-corn soufflé." - brant cox, sylvio martins, nikko duren

Pasadena Wants to Test Face-Scanning System That Allows You to Pay for Meals | Eater LA

"This Pasadena restaurant is participating in a pilot of a facial-recognition payment and pickup system that requires customers to register with a selfie, preload funds via credit card or checking account, and complete pickup by looking into a kiosk while a cashier hands over the meal. The technology is promoted as a contactless way to reduce person-to-person interactions during COVID-19, though critics warn of inherent racial bias in facial-recognition systems and raise concerns about data sharing and privacy. The pilot is run by the same tech group behind Kitchen United and Caliburger and launched this week." - Mona Holmes

Google
The atmosphere and the lobster mashed potatoes are really good. Mash the lobster mashed potatoes have really good flavor. The atmosphere was very elegant. I ended up getting the petite filet mignon and it could have used a little bit more flavor but overall it was good. The service was great. The prices were typical for an upscale restaurant. The drinks were nice and strong.

Google
The filet mignon was perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. We shared several sides and not one missed the mark. The truffle mac and cheese was rich without being heavy. The garlic mashed potatoes were velvety smooth. The Brussels sprouts had just the right char with crispy bacon for balance. Even the asparagus had a nice snap and vibrant flavor. The garlic sourdough bread came out warm and fresh, and I started with an espresso martini that was spot on. Our server, Christopher, was exceptional. He recommended a beautiful glass of Cabernet that paired perfectly with the steak. He was attentive without being overbearing and really elevated the experience. For dessert, we had the chocolate soufflé and they surprised me with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and raspberry drizzle to celebrate. A thoughtful touch! The service, ambiance, and food were all on point. Whether you’re celebrating or just craving a great steakhouse experience, this is one of those places worth coming back to. Easily five stars.

Google
Such good wagyu 8+ steak! One of the best steaks i ever had actually. My husband ordered the chicken which was also soo delicious! We went to celebrate a birthday and we were provided chocolate raspberry cake, also great! We will definitely be coming back.

Went for a bday party 🥳 for a dear friend and enjoyed the service. The food was top tier and the drinks were on point. Great for mid size groups too.

Google
Arroyo Chop House is an exquisite and savory dining experience. The servers are very knowledgeable and friendly. Any menu item is elegantly presented in a timely fashion. The bar is first rate, too. This establishment is perfect for a special occasion, business dinner, or nice night out. I highly recommend Arroyo Chop House!

Google
First class all the way. Starting with very professional server Blair. Every thing I have ever had here was excellent in taste and quality of ingredients. The atmosphere is great when there are no kids here. Don't know why people insist on bringing their spawn to a high end, special occasion establishment, I guess to show you are so rich you can waste money on feeding fancy food to someone who would rather have McDonalds. Use the money to hire a sitter and have some consideration for other diners.

Rosmery Zubin D.

Google
Really enjoyed the overall experience — food was good, drinks could use some work, ordered a dry martini and wished it was a little better —— service and atmosphere were brilliant - good quality steak. Would recommend a visit

Bob H.

Google
I guess inasmuch as it says "Chop House" in the name my personal feeling the menu is a tiny bit restricted might not really mean much. The food's great and the service is even better. The Grand Marnier souffle is a must for dessert, so make sure you leave room for it.

Yelp
We came here for our wedding anniversary celebrating 21 years. The restaurant is a super nice steak house with bar and two big rooms for large parties or events. The staff is very nice and extremely helpful in helping you choose your best cut. The dress code is California flare. Some dress up and some come in casual. I had the Filet Mignon and my hubby had the ribeye. Both were excellent and cooked perfectly to our liking. Everything is ale cart. So we choose half order of green beans, mac and cheese, garlic mashed potatoes. It was a lot more food than we needed but perfect for leftovers. Since we were celebrating our Anniversary, they had a very nice card for us on arrival.
google avatar

Denise J.

Yelp
Firstly, customer service was great. Upscaleish steakhouse. The food was interesting. I ordered a ribeye and the steak was a disappointment. Lacked flavor and was not the right temperature. The cut of meat was thick and rough as well. It made me second guess if it was truly a ribeye. My fiancé ordered a filet mignon medium well and it arrived well done. We ordered lobster mash potatoes and I've never had mash potatoes that color nor that consistency. They were orange and gritty. I thought it was grits. It tasted good but not amazing. The onion rings tasted like nothing. The batter was flavorless. Overall for over $200, it was not worth it. Parking was valet only.

Yelp
Classic yet timeless. Traditional but not stuffy. This is the perfect steakhouse. Pros; - Family-size sides - Valet parking / easy - Incredible service - Thoughtful touches even down to seating my MIL's guide dog to the perfect corner Cons: - *Can* be pricey, but it's worth it tbh.

Yelp
Went to celebrate for my dad's birthday, they accommodated 8 quests beautifully. Our server was helpful with the menu and always checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was soooo good. I wasn't too impressed with my Halibut, but I tried something different so my fault! Regardless it was still good, just not something I would get again. The steak is where it's at! The lobster mashed potatoes were very impressive, I feel like you get lobster mashed potatoes and it's okay but not this one. The flavor was all there! Do not miss out on dessert!!! Both the soufflés were delicious, I would go back just for them both! They have chocolate and grand marnier (had to get both)

Yelp
Hands down one of the best steak houses to grab dinner at. Came here with my friends and we had the epitome of a girls night. The staff is incredible and super attentive. The drinks are perfect each time. But most importantly the food is not only perfectly cooked, but absolutely delicious. Starting off with freshly hot sourdough bread. My oh my is it incredible with some butter. I opted for a whiskey based drink this time. Jameson, ginger ale, and some fresh lime juice squeezed in. Definitely paired perfectly with my chopped salad and petit mignon. All the ingredients were fresh on my salad and the steak was like butter when cutting into it with great flavor and texture. To end the meal, I opted for a chocolate soufflé that was just the chefs kiss. Overall, it was a perfect night. Thank you Arroyo Chop house for such incredible service and food! Definitely will be back for another girls dinner!

Yelp
STILL MY FAVORITE PLACE FOR DINNER ================================ My husband's company had a dinner for ten of us at the Arroyo Chop House on August 17, 2025 and everything was perfect from the beginning to the end. I wish I had more photos, but I got caught up with socializing and stuff. I love the surf and turf. My husband always split that and he gets the filet and I love the lobster. A few others in our group ordered that. All the sides were wonderful. We chose the garlic mashed potatoes and also split a Caesar salad. The drinks were great. I loved my Old Fashioned. We also had a bottle of red wine which was delicious. We ordered two orders of the sourdough bread and garlic bread which is split 50/50. That was the first time I've had their garlic bread and I loved that. We ordered three big desserts for our table to share which was perfect. Julia, our server was amazing from the beginning to the end. My anniversary is coming up in a week and I want to go again. That's how much I love it.
google avatar

Stevin F.

Yelp
Definitely a goto place for a amazing steak, I tried the braised short ribs which is my measure of success. Although I love some risotto, I would not recommend their lobster risotto., it definitely didn't taste like lobster and the consistency was just so watery the chef/cook needs to take his time and make sure he prepares his risotto properly. This is not something to be rushed and for a first person's impression you need to think about that. I was here for an anniversary dinner and the ambience was spot on. They took care of us with a welcoming card and service you would expect from this establishment
google avatar

Kenneth C.

Yelp
Fancy steak house dinner ambiance feel. Service was great. Waiter timed food perfectly. Get the garlic bread! Did the 50/50 option but everyone wanted the garlic bread. Sourdough is on the house so j order the garlic it'll be everyone's fav. Do the wagyu. It's worth it. Tender and juicy. Melts in your mouth. My wife and I shared the surf/turf and upgraded to the wagyu and it was far greater than the reg one of which my sis in law got.

Yelp
Had the wonderful pleasure of taking my mother to celebrate her birthday at Arroyo Chophouse. We had an AMAZING experience! We arrived to our reservation early, and we were able to enjoy drinks at the bar while we waited. Steph, the bartender, made my mom the best old-fashioned she has ever had and an amazing French 75 for me! We were able to get seated a little early, and our server, Stevey, took excellent care of us. Her patience while my mom asked a million questions because she was so excited was so appreciated- especially since I'm sure it was busy that night. Her menu knowledge was extensive, which was very impressive to us. Every dish we ordered was so delicious! Between the appetizers of prosciutto wrapped scallops, and the half-and-half bread, we knew we were in for a real treat when it came to main courses. My mom ordered the Wagyu sampler a couple different sides, and I had a petite fillet mignon. And everything was cooked perfectly! The manager, Jose, stopped by to wish my mom a happy birthday, which was such a nice surprise. I've been to a lot of restaurants where managers don't come chat with tables unless something is wrong. So it's nice that he popped in while everything was going 1000% right. Thank you so much for making my mom's birthday special! She said she can't wait to come back again!

Yelp
The food was delicious, our meat came cooked to perfection and was nice and tender. The crab cakes were nicely served with fresh mango topping that added a freshness to it. I loved all the sides but my favorite was the lobster mashed potatoes. Our server was great and recommended the chocolate soufflé and it didn't disappoint! I realllllly liked the garlic bread we got as well. Awesome experience!

Yelp
We had a corporate private event in the Prime Room and the customer service, AV equipment and entrees were all excellent!!! We look forward to holding the event again next year! Thank you, Arroyo Chop House

Yelp
Super glad we decided to celebrate our 2rd wedding anniversary with Dinner at Arroyo Chop House. Always drove by and was curious of the food. We were able to make a reservation via open table. Parking is valet only and it is $8. Right when you walk in, there is upscale casual steak house vibes. Dark dining room with a fully showcased bar. They have an extensive wine selection and a fine selection of quality cuts. They also offer Japanese Wagyu steaks, which I think is rare in the area. We ordered two wines, 1/2 sourdough and 1/2 garlic bread, the Japanese ribeye, Fillet and Lobster tail. For sides we had the Scalloped potatoes, ACH mac and cheese, an 1/2 orders of the onion rings and creamed spinach. We ordered the soufflé special and also got a candle lit raspberry chocolate cake for our anniversary. You must decide on the soufflé mid meal as it takes some time to make. The food was delicious and perfectly seasoned. We're extremely delighted with our meal and the service was spectacular. Steak houses are generally pricey but this meal was well worth it! Our total bill with tip was $400. (They comped the soufflé and cake- Anniversary special) We are excited for our next dinner at the Arroyo chop house!

Yelp
Recently celebrated my birthday dinner here as a first timer. The ambiance is nice, although I'm not a fan of very dimly lit restaurants but it's expected of a steakhouse. One of my friends received a glass that was chipped for his old fashion, which is surprising for a place like this. Didn't love the service, our waiter cracked some jokes about the chip and poor lighting in our picture but I didn't really find it funny. That being said, I think the steak is well cooked, perfectly medium rare. The sides were all yummy, but no stand outs. The sourdough bread was really excellent. I enjoyed that for someone who typically don't like sourdough. Food is above average, but the experience not really my vibe.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow-if you're looking for a special night out-THIS is THE place!! (And if you enjoy good food) From beginning to end it was a superb experience. The restaurant is dark wich makes for an intimate vibe. Our sever, Seth, was attentive, nice and funny! The trifecta! The food was insane! We split the NY Steak, broccoli, garlic bread and potato. Do yourself a favor and DO NOt..I repeat..DO NOT skip the garlic bread. Everything was made with fresh, simple ingredients and ohhh soo flavorful. **Tip**It's easy to miss ...as it's a little sign parallel to the street. All parking is valet ($8)

Yelp
I had attended a dinner lecture at the Arroyo Chop House and the meal was amazing, I ate my whole plate even though I had arrived planning to save half and not overeat. The bread for the table with the butter was so good and fresh I definitely ate extra pieces. But the main star of the event, the Butterscotch Pudding! Guys, if I had had a choice I wouldn't have ordered it because I didn't really feel that it sounded like something I would like, but thank god we didn't have a choice, because that Butterscotch pudding was SO DELICIOUS. You can bet I inhaled THE WHOLE THING within less than 1 minute. I DREAM of this dessert. Best dessert I've had in a long time!!!!! If you are visiting the Arroyo Chop House try the Butterscotch Pudding, it's amazinggggggg!!!!!!!!!!!

Yelp
I have been visiting Arroyo Chop House for some time, and it has been my regular go-to steakhouse. So why wait to do a review? Let's just say I needed a fresh perspective. A couple friends have never been, but wanted to go, I was surprised that they asked for me to come along! Arroyo Chop House has low ambient lighting with a high class look with a casual vibe. Tables are clean yet highlighted, while the bar area is lively as people share stories and drinks. Food: I ordered my usual Negroni to start my meal here and boy on a Friday evening that is exactly what I needed. We also ordered the half Garlic bread and Sourdough to start. The bread was piping hot and that crunch was what we needed to start our meal. For the main course, I ordered the Cowboy Ribeye. I love my steaks here as they have neve over nor under cook my steaks here. My friends ordered the same with the addition to some more additional sides all were impeccable and tasted delicious. From my friends, perspective, they all agreed that it was one of the best steaks they have had. I love this place and plan to continue coming back over and over again!
google avatar

Lori A.

Yelp
If you have Seth as your waiter, you're lucky! Patio has a better ambience in my opinion as opposed to indoors. My "Must order" list: I am fully aware I'm about to start with a recommendation and that's because it makes more sense to order it before ordering anything else because it takes between 40 to 45 minutes Dessert: the soufflé Drinks: old-fashioned, and tangerine sour Appetizer: combination of the garlic and sourdough bread Appetizer: any of the salads and they conveniently split it for you if you're more than one person Main dish: their classic burger, and their special of the day, which was a Wagyu taster, which was delicious Sides: the Jalapeño corn soufflé, which is to die for the broccolini and the onion rings
google avatar

Yelp
Food - delicious! My favs: ribeye steak, porterhouse steak, lobster mash, truffle mac, lobster mac, brussel sprouts. Service - really great! Each time they leave me something to remember. Recently for one of my birthdays, the waiter gave me a rose with a card. Not sure where he got it from. And the year before that, one of the waiters gave me a card with an orchid. Ambiance - wonderful upscale steakhouse feeling. One of my favorite steakhouses. All parking is valet. Although I recall there is street parking if you drive around.

Yelp
We had an amazing experience at Arroyo. We were a couple of first timers but will certainly be making a trip back soon. The service was warm and welcoming and the food was succulent and satisfying. Next time around I'd like to get a crack at their wine menu and see what they've got to offer. I had the ribeye and my lady had the Alaskan king crab legs. We shared entrees as well as the lobster mashed potatoes which were incredibly rich and savory. Arroyo has a nice laidback atmosphere while maintaining a formal and high class aura. Very good restaurant can't wait to visit again.

Yelp
I have been looking forward to visiting this restaurant for a very long time. We came in on May 24th which was our anniversary and it was an amazing experience. We arrived around 8:30pm and the restaurant is dark and intimate which makes for an attractive vibe. I ordered the N.Y. Steak which was really good and my wife ordered the Rib-Eye Steak that was awesome! We had the Lobster mashed potatoes and they tasted really good and prepared well. Our server was Oswaldo and he was attentive, professional and took excellent care of us for the entire evening. The bread we ordered was split between sourdough and garlic and both were good. Street parking was available so we took advantage of that. This is a fantastic restaurant and experience! Looking forward to returning again.

Yelp
Walking in, ambiance is cozy and elegant. We had a reservation and were seated with no wait. Staff was polite and working very hard, ensuring that everything was running smoothly. Our server was Seth, and he was incredible!!!!!!! Best service ever!!!! We came for my moms, my husbands, and my birthday. (Our birthdays are close) Food was delicious and well portioned. We got: tuna tartar 10/10, Cesar salad, 8.5/10, garlic bread 8.5/10, crab cakes 8/10, filet & lobster 9.5/10 (top of my steak was burnt a bit, and two other filet dishes 9.5/10, mountain mushrooms 5/10, corn 8/10, truffle Mac and cheese 10/10, lobster mashed potato's 9.5/10, cheesecake 10/10, chocolate cake 10/10 I got the Bloody Mary 10/10 and my mom the Mindoro sour 10/10 and another fruity drink 8/10 Would recommend, just at least for their impeccable service!
google avatar

David K.

Yelp
I have to be honest...I had high expectations and they were not met. Ordered the crabcakes and they were good, but not great. We also ordered the mac and cheese and the Brussels. The Mac was good but the Brussels had horse raddish and were under cooked (not a repeat) Ordered the fillet and halibut, both were not the caliber they portray and the temperature was off on the steak. Our server seemed a bit annoyed that we didn't order alchohol. The best part of this place is the lighting. They did an amazing job on the ambiance. Bottom line, I would not come back. Simply put, too expensive for the execution.
google avatar

Vicky R.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant, classic Pasadena looking with well appointed booths and tables. The front of the house was less than welcoming on our last visit. The service was very professional but was less attentive than it should have been at that price point. The bread tray was yummy and worth ordering. The Arroyo chop salad was delicious, abundant and served nicely chilled. The tuna tartar was bland and the preparation felt dated. The filet mignon was perfectly cooked and served at the request temperature, however, it was not trimmed properly because it had a thick layer of grizzled at one end. The butterscotch dessert was generous but a tad too sweet. All in all a good special occasion restaurant on the expensive side.

Lon H.

Yelp
My wife and I years ago searched out many steak and chop restaurants all through out the country in our travels, and the only one that is superior in every way is the Smith Brothers Arroyo Chop house in Pasadena. The steaks are treated in the wet mode that seems to bring out the most tender and juiciest steaks. My favourite is the New York always butterflied to rare perfection. Their sourdough loaf of bread comes to them half baked and then finished baked to a crispy on the outside perfection. They serve a BBQ shrimp salad with a lot of shrimp in a tasty marinate. Our favourite desert is the small apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Drinks coming from the elegant bar are excellent, especially a dirty martini. The ambience is Pasadena clubby and during Christmas the decorations are terrific displayed under the fantastic art deco mural. The service is excellent with servers like Lauren and Blair that over the years have become friends. This steak house always feels like home to us over the years and we always find our way there on holidays, birthdays, and anniversary's . We rate this place the best overall steak house where you can enjoy delicious food, excellent friendly service with wonderful ambience.

Yelp
I came here recently to celebrate my birthday and what a treat it was! Our party was big so I called in and was able to book a weekend dinner reservation for our party a week in advance. If your party is smaller, you can go to their website to book the reservation. If you don't mind walking a block or two, I would recommend getting to Arroyo Chop House 10 minutes early to find street parking. Although there is not much parking available on Arroyo Parkway, you may be able to find parking on the side street or around on Marengo Ave. Otherwise, their parking lot is valet only. Once we were seated, we were greeted by the waiter with specials for the day. It did seem pretty busy inside the restaurant at 6pm, so we had to wait awhile until we got our food. One thing I didn't like was that it felt pretty stuffy inside the restaurant. I'm not sure if it's because we were seated on the side of the restaurant where the sun was setting and the wooden shades were absorbing a lot of the heat from the day's sun. Every dish we ordered was sooo delicious. The flavor of the Porterhouse steak was perfect. Although next time I would definitely order the steak medium rare instead of medium. There were parts of the steak where I thought it came out more medium well. The bottle of Napa Valley Merlot and the sides all complemented the steak very well. We had the asparagus, brussels sprouts, lobster mash, and mac n cheese. What really topped off this meal was the spectacular desserts. You must order the chocolate souffle and the butterscotch pudding!

Donald C.

Yelp
My wife and I had dinner here on a Wednesday night. We had a reservation, and were seated quickly. This was good as they were packed. Even though we split a single 24 ounce Porterhouse steak and the caramelized corn we had leftovers. The steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked as requested. Our server (Patrick) was a pleasure and took good care of us. The only (very picky) downsides were a) valet parking was slammed and disorganized b) the place was noisy (if you like noise, call it vibrant), c) Patrick forgot to bring 2 spoons so we could split the desert (how's that for picky!). We are not often in the area, but would be happy to return if/when we are next in Pasadena.

Yelp
Another amazing dinner at Arroyo's! This is our third visit and each time has been great! We arrived right as they opened. The sourdough and jalapeño breads were warm and fluffy. We could've stuffed ourselves with just the bread. We ordered the bbq shrimp to start us off. My husband had the Japanese ultra waygu ribeye, not sure exactly what all that meant but it was perfect! Soft and buttery. I ordered the New York strip, delicious too. We shared the brussels sprouts and garlic mash. We had to end the night with the Grand Marnier soufflé. Our server Jay was very attentive as well as the rest of the staff. We will definitely be back soon.

Kennedy V.

Yelp
Service and ambiance is great! However the food is just okay. For instance the scallops were a bit too sweet. The truffle Mac and cheese arrived room temperature but the actual taste was nice I did enjoy the Mary's chicken.

Robin M.

Yelp
You get what you pay for! This is not an inexpensive restaurant, but the quality of the food, cocktails, wine, and service were all exceptional. Our server, Jose, was one of the most professional and knowledgeable server I have had in a LONG time, and his attention to detail were a stand out for me. Classic and traditional steakhouse. Did not have a "snobby" feel, although most people were dressed in at least business casual dress. Valet parking only. My main takeaway: Incredible service! I worked in fine dining restaurants for over 10 years, so I have a mental check-list for a full fine dining experience, and our server, Jose, checked every box! Very impressed. As for the food, we had fresh oysters and the crab cake specials to start and they were great. One of my guest had the Surf & Turf special, and said everything was perfect. I had the fresh halibut special and the halibut was fantastic. And my other guest had the Ribeye and it was cooked to perfection and he said it melted in his mouth. The sides were all good and plentiful. I loved the asparagus and brussel sprouts and personally felt the lobster mac & cheese was too rich, but my guests loved it. We all had a soufflé for dessert (I had the chocolate and my guests had the Grand Marnier) and I was surprised how LARGE they were and they all were delicious! Finally, the wine list was extensive and also impressive. Although again, the wine list is NOT an inexpensive list, it mirrored the environment and the rest of the menu so to end...I was happy. My guests were happy, and I highly recommend.

Yelp
EXCELLENT!!! Bone in filet was to die for. Medium rare. Cooked perfect. The truffle Mac and cheese a must. Mashed potatoes were delicious Oysters amazing Service excellent Place is super clean and intimate. Great date spot!! Drinks amazing!!!

Yelp
One of the best steaks and mashed potatoes I've ever had. My go to spot was always mastros but this definitely tops it.

Yelp
We ordered the porterhouse steak for two, asparagus, cream, spinach, string, french fries, mushrooms and garlic and sourdough bread. Our server was very friendly and quick to bring out our dishes. The ambience is dim lit and mid noise. Usually parties or families, dates or work events. I've dined at this restaurant countless times, maybe 12-15 times the last 5 years. I will continue to support this restaurant . Excellent food and service
google avatar

Tami V.

Yelp
Came here for a business dinner. We tried different types of steaks, including the rump chop. They were all good and decent, but not the best steaks I've ever had. The service was also quite slow, though it was a busy day.

Yelp
First time visiting, nice, elegant decor, friendly service, good food. We enjoyed everything we ordered. We got the seafood tower which included raw oysters, crab, lobster, poke & shrimp cocktail. The lobster mash potato had generous portions of lobster, the green beans were crunchy & tasty. The sweet corn was ok and our steaks (filet mignon & rib eye) & chocolate soufflé were good. Overall it was a good experience.

Yelp
It's not easy to find high end wagyu beef around Pasadena and this is the establishment that you should attend! Dinner was incredible! We got the wagyu NY Strip! This was a date night and we paired our Wagyu steak with the scalloped potatoes and the creamed spinach! I swear this hit the spot! The chef's execution was amazing! The service by Stevey was impeccable! Jose was the manager and came to the table to ensure that everything was, in his words, "fantastic". 100% will be back for another lovely high end dining experience! Side note, reservations are highly recommended and we were accommodated appropriately! 5 stars!

Yelp
Walked in, sat down, the waiter came to ask what water we preferred the the LARGEST RAT I've ever seen ran across the ledge above the food serve/bar area got up and left right after that. Can't even say much about the food or service, just stunned at the experience

Yelp
My family and I were really looking forward to dinner at Arroyo Chop House, but unfortunately, the evening was a letdown from start to finish. We waited nearly 20 minutes before anyone even took our order, and then an additional 40 minutes for the food to arrive. When it finally did, two out of the three steaks were overcooked...well done instead of medium-well as ordered. For a restaurant that prides itself on premium steaks and fine dining, the lack of attention and consistency was surprising. Service was slow, the kitchen seemed disorganized, and overall the experience did not match the price or reputation. Sadly, we won't be returning.

Yelp
Had a really lovely birthday dinner here for my husband last week. Our waiter, Johnny, was attentive and so helpful at explaining the menu. The food was all delicious. We had the half and half bread, a filet mignon, mashed potatoes and corn, plus an old fashioned. We also appreciated the chocolate birthday cake slice for dessert. Overall it was a great experience that we will think of fondly, and it made my husband's birthday extra special.

Yelp
This restaurant is owned by the same people that own Parkway Grill right next door, and Smitty's Grill nearby in Pasadena To start we had oysters Rockefeller. They were not even on the menu, but my dad asked if they had them, and at first they said no and then another person came over and said we could do that for you. They did and they were excellent! Then we had the Holland America Farms bib lettuce salad with Ash goat cheese, heirloom cherry tomatoes, and avocado. I had the Lamb chops - I said "cook them however the chef recommends"- they were spectacular! The asparagus was one of the best I've ever had - cooked perfectly- nice crunch, not overcooked, not tough, chewy or stringy at all. The corn was absolutely amazing - nice and crunchy well cooked with peppers and onions. With my lamb chops, there was arugula on the plate and a roasted yellow pepper. My dad had the filet mignon medium rare - was done perfectly. I had a Chopin martini perfectly extra dry with four olives - I'm in heaven. For dessert we had the Grand Marnier soufflé - the soufflé was light and fluffy, creamy and cake like. There was a whipped cream side and a Grand Marnier Crema that was unbelievable - I highly recommend that too!

Yelp
My party made a reservation for the chop house a couple of weeks in advance. We arrived around 4:45 for our 5pm dining reservation and there was valet parking for $8. The interior feels very warm, has some low level lighting, and plenty of seating for their reservations. The booth we were seated at felt a little small, but it was still comfortable otherwise. We ordered the scallop with pancetta for the appetizer along with garlic and sourdough bread. Both were delicious and had good portion sizes. The scallops tasted fresh and the texture + flavor was amazing. We ordered the tomahawk steak, a sea bass, the sampler with a ribeye, filet mignon, and I forgot the last one, a filet mignon, and several different side dishes. The sides were shareable and were a great portion. Our party of 4 were able to finish most of our meals along with most of the side dishes. The tomahawk had a nice texture and quality in every bite even at the end pieces, which was all cooked perfectly to the request. The filet mignon was soft and melted in your mouth at a medium level. The sea bass was served with lemon and a butter sauce that made each bite tasty and was very fresh. The service and quality of the dining experience on a weekend night was amazing and probably the best I've experienced. I will look forward to coming back to the Arroyo Chop House in the future.

Yelp
and we're back - 27th anniversary and there still is no better place to go than Arroyo Chop House. The menu has everything you could want in a steak house - from Wagyu to filet (mignon, petit,) along with all the other expected cuts - ribeye, Porterhouse, and New York. We split the Cowboy Ribeye and loaded up on side - creamed spinach (natch), lobster mashed potatoes (OMG) and sautéed mushrooms just to make it healthy. The steak was cooked to perfection, rare of course as the good lord meant it to be. The sides were perfection - especially the lobster mashed, we fought over the last serving. Cocktails were delicious and the service was top notch. Pro tip - avoid the room at the front. They sit the larger parties in there and trying to carry on a conversation can be a challenge.

Yelp
When driving into this establishment, please be aware there is two restaurant on one lot. Valet only when you enter and they can take you on the parkway grill side and you can walk over to Arroyo chop house. Started off with a Caesar salad and you have the option to have a sardine on top of your salad. Sure why not, decoration. We also got the scallop wrapped in pancetta, so good, big and meaty scallops. Tomahawk med rare-good piece of meat and more than enough for two people. We were able to take some home for the next day. Truffle mac and cheese- you can really taste and see the truffle in the mac and cheese. Scallop potatoes were a little uncooked and wasn't soft in certain areas but the sauce it was in was really good. Not too heavy or salty. Those beer battered onion rings, OMG so good even the next day in the air fryer! I love leftovers when its good the next day. Service was really good and they didn't skip a beat. Overall it was a nice time. Valet is 7.00

Yelp
Steaks are all very tasty and delicious. We all love it so much. Creamy spinach is good. Baked potato is yummy. I love the chocolate cakes they gave us for my two daughter's birthday and graduation. The cakes are not very sweet and the chocolate is very rich. I usually feel sic after I eat too much chocolate dessert but I don't feel sick after I ate the chocolate cakes. I like Soufflés Grand Marnier, but Soufflés Chocolate is too sweet for me. But my daughters love the Soufflés Chocolate.

Yelp
Been here a couple times for dinner and quality changes every time. First time was for restaurant week and I wasn't impressed but came a 2nd time for a work dinner and I loved it so I suggested this for dinner. We got an early reservation, there is street parking around the corner if you don't want to valet but no one watches your car so it's not 100% safe. We started with cosmos which were good but not the best I've ever tasted. We got the half and half bread which was good, soft inside, crunchy outside. Next time I'll probably just get the sourdough since the other side was kinda greasy and heavy. My steak in some areas were a bit overcooked and the taste was just ok. When I came for work the steak was super soft and cooked perfectly so I'm not sure what happened this time. My lobster was good, but again just good and not amazing. Corn wasn't anything spectacular so I'd skip that and just add my own corn at home. The garlic mash had melting butter on top and was whipped perfectly. Our waiters kept checking in on us so that was nice but we never felt rushed so that was also good but we went for Valentine's Day and the tables around us got a long stemmed rose and we didn't so that was weird. I'd probably try it another time but it's twice now that I thought the food was meh.

Yelp
We decided to dine here for my 60th birthday celebration. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice, but you would expect better service for the $$ that it costs. I had to order my drink 3 times for it to finally make it to the table. But they are not stingy on the alcohol. You can actually taste it in the drinks which is a good thing. There were 9 of us Everyone who ordered steak or fish were pleased with their order. And most people liked the sides. We waited what seemed like forever for our food to be served and when it finally came I was soooo disappointed. I ordered the king crab legs which arrived to my table lukewarm and somewhat dry. When the manager came to check on us, he was very gracious in offering to either put it under the broiler to heat it up, or to make a new one. Well it was already dried out so I didn't want it reheated, and it would be 20 mins to have them prepare another one. I didn't want to wait so I ate the cold dried out, salty crab but ti be fair the manager comped it. So I didn't have to pay $110 for it. Overall, I would say that this restaurant does not live up to what I was expecting. I very much prefer the food at the Parkway Grill which their sister restaurant across the parking lot. It was a disappointing experience for almost $900 worth of food. Thumbs down!

Yelp
The server was very kind this is not about him. We went last night for a date night. Order: Between the two of us we ordered a cocktail, the lobster bisque, bread, the 8+ ultra wagyu New York strip, the surf and turf special USDA prime beef filet mignon and lobster tail, a side of sautéed mountain mushrooms, a side of truffle Mac and cheese, a bottle of wine, and the chocolate soufflé. The bread, soup and surf and turf were great. Issue: The food took FOREVER to arrive. Every element took long. The bread arrived after the soup. Our server shared the soufflé takes 45 minutes from order so we asked for that with our dinner order. It took double that. My 8+ ultra wagyu NY strip (ordered medium rare) was dry. Lack luster. I've bought better from Trader Joe's. The mushrooms were awful. We did ask to send those back. They add bell peppers to it (not said on the menu) and that's all you taste. They could have at least been rendered down more or caramelized. Do not order. The truffle Mac and cheese was very mediocre. I had one bite and that was enough for me. Husband was willing to eat it mainly because we were starving at this point. The soufflé was meh. It needed more chocolate it was a bit plain. The fresh whipped cream was nice. All in all, this gets marked a Do Not Return.

Yelp
It had been several years since we dined here, but we made the drive from the SF Valley to celebrate a birthday. Everything was spectacular. The ambiance, cocktails, appetizers, entrees, and the chocolate soufflé's for dessert. The service was perfect! We will absolutely be back. I highly recommend the shrimp cocktail, and the surf & turf special (fillet and perfectly cooked lobster tail). The garlic bread and the tomato soup were also delicious! Thanks for making our special occasion dining experience truly wonderful!

Yelp
First time at arroyo and glad I tried. We got the shrimp cocktail, jalapeño corn soufflé, garlic mashed potatoes, and the ribeye. Shrimp cocktail was perfectly tender. The jalapeño corn soufflé was amazing. First time trying something like that and it is going on my recipe list to make. The steak was well cooked. Parking is 7 bucks valet but there is a lot of parking on nearby streets.
