The Best Restaurants In Mission Bay - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"The powers that be have graced Mission Bay with the third location of Arsicault, the makers of ourfavorite croissantsin the city. This outpost, just a few minutes walk from China Basin Park, is just likethe originalwith added standing room-only space and (usually) a shorter line. Your first order of business is obviously loading up on croissants, and then a blackberry bostock if you have the room. If the window seats are full—which they usually are—there’s public seating right out front." - Julia Chen, Patrick Wong

Where To Eat & Drink Near Oracle Park - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Just a five-minute walk from the stadium are the city's best croissants. Arsicault's third location in Mission Rock is a facsimile of the original in the Richmond with not only the same fantastic pastries (always get the almond croissant and kouign amann) but also the same long lines. Thankfully, things move quickly, so you can make a pit stop at this French bakery before any daytime games." - lani conway, julia chen 1, patrick wong

Like the original, this location of Arsicault serves some of SF's best croissants - Review - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"When you see someone on the street with a smudge of glistening butter on their cheek, it's likely the work of Arsicault. The French bakery has been attracting block-long lines since its fantastic croissants debuted in the Richmond in 2019. Now, their third location (the second is near Civic Center) continues that legacy in Mission Rock. Like the other locations, this Arsicault has a pastry case filled with tissue-paper-flaky plain, almond, chocolate, and ham and cheese croissants—and the lines are just as long, even before 8am opening. The waiting game is well worth it (and the line moves fast). Prioritize the almond croissant above all others, and for something just as buttery and less crescent-shaped, try the kouign amann. You’ll usually be able to find some free leaning space on the counters here, and there’s plenty of public seating right outside. Plus, you’re just a couple minutes' walk from China Basin Park. photo credit: Patrick Wong" - Patrick Wong

Arsicault: One of San Francisco’s Most Viral Croissants Is Headed to Mission Rock | Eater SF

"Armando Lacayo’s version—made by the Nicaraguan-French baker who draws lines daily on Arguello Street and already has a second location in Civic Center—has become a modern classic. Ownership announced via Instagram that a third bakery will open on Monday, March 10 inside the Verde building at 1070 Bridgeview Way in the Mission Rock development. The new outpost will operate Monday through Friday at first, with hours expanding to include Saturday and Sunday beginning Saturday, April 5 (timed to Giants Opening Weekend). Fans have shown up regardless of hours since the butter and frangipane croissants gained clout from Bon Appétit in 2016." - Paolo Bicchieri

I absolutely loved it! I’m usually not a big fan of pastries, but this place is a must-try. The Vegetarian Galette and Almond Chocolate Croissant were to die for! We tried a few other items too — like the Mushroom Quiche and Orange Glazed Pastry — but those two really stood out. The line wasn’t bad at all; we waited about 5 minutes on a Saturday afternoon. Though, fair warning — the Almond Chocolate Croissant sells out fast! We waited around 20 minutes for it, and it was totally worth it. The only downside was the coffee bar — we tried the mocha, and I wouldn’t order it again. But overall, the prices are great, the portions are filling, and the food is absolutely worth it. I’d definitely go back!

Arsicault Bakery – A Busy but Worthwhile Stop Near Oracle Park Located in a lively area near Pier 50, China Basin, and Oracle Park, Arsicault Bakery draws a steady mix of office staff, visitors, and sports fans passing through. I visited on a Thursday around 12:30 p.m., and the place was buzzing with a long line of people waiting for a quick lunch bite. The bakery has a modern design, with a wooden counter inside and a few round outdoor tables. Seating is limited, but grabbing a pastry and coffee to enjoy under the sunshine makes for a pleasant experience. Their menu features a variety of croissants—including almond, chocolate, ham & cheese, plain, and occasional specials—alongside baguette sandwiches that are especially popular at lunch. Coffee comes in multiple sizes with plenty of choices to pair with your pastry. I tried the Blackberry Almond Hazelnut Croissant, and it was excellent—crispy on the outside, with a creamy hazelnut filling, and a surprisingly well-balanced mix of flavors. My vanilla coffee was smooth, and the latte art was an extra nice touch. It's a little bit pricy but worth visiting somehow. Overall, Arsicault Bakery is a great spot for a quick visit—whether you’re grabbing breakfast, a light lunch, or just treating yourself before a game. Expect crowds at peak hours, but the quality of the pastries makes it worthwhile. --- ✨ Highlights: 🍩 Excellent variety of croissants 🥖 Baguette sandwiches for a heartier lunch ☕ Quality coffee with beautiful presentation 🌞 Best enjoyed outdoors on a sunny day

Google
A nice bakery with good pastries and treats. There was a it of a line to start off with, when we went there around lunch time. But it moves quick there and the line passes fast. It is because they are optimizing ordering as you can quickly select the pastries to order from a small display. Then you choose which drink you want and pay. We got some croissants and some other pastries like pain au chocolate. The pastries were really good especially the blackberry croissant. We also got latte and cappuccino and those were good too.

Google
BEST CROISSANTS IN SF! Need I say more - I feel like I'm transported back to Paris everytime I take a bite of Arsicault's croissants and pastries. Forever grateful to have this establishment in the city! Also this new location is the best one out of the three, super clean and spacious! Must-try when you're in SF :) I usually get the Pain au Chocolat and the Kouign Amann! The Chocolate Almond is really good too, super rich in flavor! Workers are also very nice and always have a nice smile when taking your orders! Good way to start a morning! 😊

Google
Always holding the standard! We are so thankful that they opened the third location after a Civic Center and the Presidio so we don’t need to drive across the town for the best croissant you can get. The almond croissant is a Fan favorite, chocolate chip cookies, always good too. They also offer baguette and sourdough. Along with other patisserie. You can’t miss it! Coffee is good too. The line moves pretty fast.

Google
Quite possibly the best Almond Croissant I've ever eaten. The croissants are crispy and decadent with tons of flavor. The line was long but moved fairly quickly. If you can snag a table, it's in a great low-traffic area with shade (on the street side) and if not, walk over to the park and sit out in the plaza overlooking Oracle Park, the creek and the Bay Bridge. Amazing new addition to the Mission Bay area. This whole area really is a gem.

Google
We finally got a bakery in the neighborhood and we're blessed it was Arsicault. Before this, I was bothering the staff at Blue Bottle trying to buy pastries for work meetings - and it felt ridiculous every time. Why did I do that? Because there was no bakery open before 9am in SF on weekdays. Given the pastry forward culture of SF, I've been shocked. Fast forward to Arsicault gracing us with their greatness. Everything was spectacular and the service was quick. My favorites (so far) are the ham and cheese croissant, chocolate croissant, quiche, bacon onion scone, and the morning bun. Everything is lovely. The croissants are like clouds and you have the luxury to eat one for breakfast. Enjoy munching on greatness my friends.

Google
I don't know if I should post this, it's that good kind of place. Tried a bit of everything - Mediterranean sandwich - mushroom and onion quiche - kouign aman - Blackberry hazelnut Croissant - apple turnover - chocolate chip cookie - bacon scone - espresso with oat milk - vanilla latte I'd 100% come back for the Mediterranean and the kouign aman. The Mediterranean is served on fresh baguette with ham, garlic aioli and tomatoes. We added cheese. I was disappointed that it wasn't toasted but after the first bite I had no complaints. So good I forgot to take any photos. The kouign aman was still warm, the crust was beautiful. The mushroom quiche came in at a close 3rd. Honestly the other stuff was good too, just these were my faves Will definitely be back to eat the rest of the store.

Yelp
Came here at around 8 on a Monday and there was a short line. We got the Butter Croissant, Chocolate Croissant and the Kouign Amann. We were told that the next batch of plain croissants would take 15 minutes, but I didn't mind waiting because it just meant fresh pastries. The butter croissant was amazing. Super buttery and super flaky, and being fresh out of the oven was definitely a game changer. The chocolate croissant was also delicious. Extremely buttery with a nice, rich chocolate. The Kouign Amann was good as well, just wasn't my favorite and wish I tried something else instead. The worker at the front was super sweet! When we were waiting for our butter croissant, she was so kind to everyone and made my experience even better. This place is definitely worth the hype!

Yelp
I GET THE HYPE! I went for a run and treated myself to Arsicault on a Sunday morning around 9 am. The line was just at the door and not as crazy as I was expecting. This location is beautiful by the water. Clean and spacious. The iced vanilla latte with oat milk was delicious and hit the spot after a run. The chocolate chip cookie was good and enjoyed the sea salt on it, but the star of the show were their croissants. It was huge and FLAVORFUL. I love a good almond croissant. It had the right amount of sweetness and filling. The blackberry almond croissant was even better! I dont even regularly like blackberry like that but it added so much flavor. It was soo crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. Also they were decently priced. I went to Parachute the weekend before and thought they were very overpriced there so glad to see that the pastries are priced decently here. I would def go back again just for the croissants and will def be thinking about it.

Yelp
I would say this new spot tucked away in the Mission Rock development was a best-kept secret, but the line would belie that statement. Obviously, the San Francisco sleuths are on their job! I love the (somewhat gritty) location near UN Plaza, but this little enclave on the backside of the Giants' Oracle Park has a life of its own - between LuxFit, Flour + Water Pizza, Ike's, and Proper Foods, this plaza has become a must-visit spot for your morning walks. Arsicault itself is the gold standard for croissants and, depending on demand, you can savor the Michelin-mentioned Kouign Amann, the morning bun, the tasty baguette sandwiches, or a surprisingly delicious savory (bacon) scone. All are beyond description and it is a Sophie's Choice just to pick which one!

Yelp
Bring Arsicault to your next hang out! The $6.75 blackberry almond hazelnut croissant was incredible moist inside and flaky on the outside. They incorporated a lot of blackberry throughout the pastry. The $6.75 ham and cheese croissant is addictive once you heat it up in a toasted oven. I intended to only take a bite of my boyfriend's piece but ended up eating more than half of it. The $6 almond croissant is exactly what it says it is.

Yelp
We came here based on a recommendation from a friend and it was well worth it. We had the blackberry almond croissant and it was so good. The blackberry filling is delicious. We also tried the orange cardamom morning bun and it was very tasty as well. There was seating inside, but also a few spots outside. The service was overall quick.

Yelp
Blackberry almond croissant is hands down the best version of the classic almond croissant. The blend of savory and sweet in a crispy, flaky shell is unbeatable. The Chocolate almond croissant is a close second. A must try for the pastry lover. They also bake fresh loaves of sourdough and baguettes. Location is 10 min walk across the bridge from oracle park in a business district. We walked over around 8a and the line was 25ppl but it moves quickly. Everything is baked fresh and served warm. They even have gift cards available at the register.

Yelp
The BEST croissants / pastries! So happy that they have multiple locations now open in SF! I hope they continue to open more locations! Came here on a Sunday around 11am and the line was already pretty long, but it moves pretty quickly and it's definitely worth the wait! ~the food~ * Kouign Amann ($5.50): This was honestly life-changing; SO GOOD, it's so buttery, fluffy on the inside and crisp and sweet on the outside! This is a must-try! very buttery + sweet, so good to share! * Ham & Cheese Croissant ($6.75): Again, the croissant dough that use here is amazing; it is SO flakey and so buttery, light, and airy! They're also very generous with the ham + cheese on the inside; I love a good savory croissant and this one is perfect! * Chocolate Chip Cookie ($4.50): the best chocolate chip cookie I've ever had! It's on the thin and chewy side of cookie, so if you like the thicker cookies like levain's, this might not be your favorite, but this cookie has the most perfect balance of saltiness + sweetness. They definitely use good quality chocolate chunks (not chips) and the cookie is baked to perfection ~overall~ I do really like this location as there's a good number of tables + seating options outside the bakery! Very casual spot, perfect location to grab a pastry + coffee and chat! again, the lines will be long, but it goes quickly and definitely worth the wait! Pricing is very reasonable in my opinion bc of the pure quality of the goods! Highly recommend trying arsicault if you haven't already! Definitely worth the hype!

Yelp
Line moves fast! got the hot chocolate croissant out the oven, great when the chocolate is warm and melty. Smelled so buttery good in the bag Line moves fast! Due to the simple menu

Yelp
After trying mason benoit in danville which was named best croissant in the Bay Area and izola in San Diego, which was anointed the best croissant in San Diego, I still believe arsicault is the best croissant. What's stands out with the croissants here is that it is a little bit more dense than the other two bakeries. It is more buttery and fluffy and soft and delicious and crispy and very flaky. However, the other two spots are really good as well just my preference and nuances to this place. I can see why people would like the other two places because they were both delicious and solid as well we are at this point debating with my new details. Today I got the regular croissant which was delectable as per usual. A new batch of ham and cheese croissants came pipe and fresh hot warm out of the oven so I had a snag one. This is the best location because you could just grab a couple pastries and head by the ballpark and sit by the water and enjoy your Peaceful morning, staring at people running while you sit and enjoy the gluttony of croissants. Come one come all.

Yelp
I visited the bakery on a Saturday morning. The line looked long at first, but it moved quickly thanks to the staff, who were kind and helpful, even taking orders ahead of time to speed things up. We tried the Blackberry Almond Hazelnut Croissant, Apricot Bostock, Cranberry Coconut Scone, and Ham & Cheese Croissant. Every single pastry was delicious--flaky, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The standout for me was the Apricot Bostock: perfectly crisp on the outside, soft and custardy on the inside, with just the right balance of sweetness and tartness from the apricot. There's a paid parking lot next to the bakery, but we avoided the hassle by taking BART and hopping on the N train--it was super convenient and made the whole trip stress-free.

Yelp
Arsicault breaks the rules when it comes to traditional croissants and scones but if this is wrong then I don't want to right! We ordered the chocolate, almond croissant and blackberry croissant. Both had the classic crispy, flaky exterior but veered away from tradition with a doughy and dense center with plenty of filling and it was SOO GOOD. But croissant purist be warned, no tender airy, honeycomb inner layers with these croissants. The scone was like the love child of a scone and croissant with buttery layers on the inside. We went on Friday morning around 9am and line moved quickly, about under 15 minutes. There was still plenty of items available though it did seem that they were out of their popular Kouign amaan. Service was excellent and the young woman who helped us was especially friendly.

Yelp
Never had the chance to go to an Arsicault in person until this Mission Bay location opened up. My office would occasionally get pastries from them and they were so good. I've mainly had their regular croissant, croissant with chocolate and the almond paste pastry. The croissants are so flakey and buttery and just satisfying to crunch down on. Not dry whatsoever. This newer shop is located not too far from my office and about a block away from Gus' market. I got here about 10 mins before opening and there was already a line forming. The shop opened 2 minutes before the posted time and the owner greeted us at the door which was a nice touch. The pastries are displayed and labeled nicely. For my in-person visit I got a ham and cheese croissant and an almond pastry. It was a bit on the pricey side but the pastries were worth it. They're definitely a 'treat yo' self' or splurge treat. The almond pastry was heavy and had an adequate amount of almond paste in each bite. It was crunchy, flakey and a perfect morning treat. I wouldn't recommend finishing it in one sitting because it is quite big and a little sweet. The ham and cheese croissant was memorable. It was buttery and flakey with rolls of ham and good quality cheese inside. Tasted amazing when warmed up. It was one of the best savory croissants I've had so far. Aside from pastries they have a small selection of drinks and coffee to pair with your delicious pastry. Overall, arsicault knows what's up when it comes to croissants. The service at this location was quick and the prices were justifiably, especially for in the area they're in. Check them out if you're nearby!

Yelp
I love a flaky, buttery croissant and Arsicault definitely delivers. My favorites are the chocolate almond croissant and the blackberry almond hazelnut croissant, but it's hard to go wrong here.

Yelp
This review is only for the ham and cheese croissant! Finally got to check out Arsicault's new Mission Bay location! It was honestly a lot smaller than I expected. There were more options on the menu at this location rather than the Richmond location but not by much. The Civic Center location definitely has the most options. There were only 4 sandwiches on the menu and 2 of them were already sold out by around 12 pm. I ended up getting a ham and cheese croissant and my friend got the chocolate croissant. The ham and cheese croissant was flaky and crispy but for some reason I didn't taste the ham in the croissant. I tasted mostly cheese in mine and wish they added more meat in it. Arsicault definitely has the best chocolate almond croissant but the ham and cheese croissant kind of missed the mark due to the lack of ingredients and I was disappointed. I would skip this croissant next time and only get the chocolate almond one.

Yelp
There are now 3 Arsicault locations in San Francisco and this may be the best one! Located in Mission Rock near Mission Bay Park, this spot is located near Oracle Stadium within a mix of the newly constructed apartments they've put up. While this one has a long line, it's not nearly as long as the OG spot and it doesn't require you to walk through the Tenderloin like the other one. My favorite item on the menu is the chocolate almond croissant. I have never had anything like it. Their croissants are so rich and delicious, but the chocolate almond is the best. I like that rather than using nuts or slivers, the almond is a paste. It is so so good that I've bought multiple just to be able to freeze and take home for later. Besides their croissants, they also have some other items including cookies, bostocks and galettes. My favorite thing to get besides the croissant is the quiche! Their quiche is baked perfectly and has a creamy interior. The bacon one is perfect! There is a reason Arsicault has such a cult following. It truly is the best croissant I've ever had!

Yelp
I can't get enough of Arsicault, and neither can anyone I introduce Arsicault to! After Arsicault just once, my parents had to go back. Every. single. day. And I don't blame them. This place has virtually no wait, the pastries are exceptionally flaky, and the variety of flavors are all top notch. Pretty sure I've had most of the possible flavors -- if not all of them. * Blueberry Hazelnut Almond, Almond: These are among my favorites. The almond paste is a bit too sweet, so I like to get a plain croissant alongside any of these. The blueberry variant is my absolute favorite. Such a delicious mixture of fruits and nuts. Gah. So good. * Plain: You can't go wrong with the "vanilla" flavor at Arsicault. I always get this to remind myself how amazing their croissants are, even without any of the sugar. Just the butter. Just all the fat. Yummy yummy butter. * Chocolate, Chocolate Almond: Not *too sweet, and a funny looking pillow shape instead of the typical croissant shape. Equally flaky and delicious. * Ham and cheese: I gotta say, this is my least favorite. (sorry) But if I must, I will eat this if it's all that's left. Anything for a croissant -- even if it's ham and cheese! Starting a block away, you'll start to smell the Arsicault pastries. Once you walk in, you'll see the massive ovens in the bake, the trays and trays of pastries, and very friendly staff members! I went back probably 3x in a single day, once. The staff instantly recognized me (oops). Can't wait for the next time already!

Yelp
I'm so happy that they decided to open up another location. It's a little tricky to spot but luckily there's parking right there which you do have to pay for but I paid $3 for one hour of parking. The croissants are as good as always, service seems a little faster and it's a bigger space with some outdoor seat.
google avatar

Yelp
Love this location in Mission Bay! The lines seem a little shorter and I always am able to get the items before they sell out! I do also love that they have some standing space which is nice if you want to just take a quick bite and drink your coffee while at the shop. Parking is however a lil difficult if you don't want to pay, but if you're okay with meter parking there's a lot right next to the shop! The regular croissant and chocolate croissants are by far my fav. The mushroom quiche is also really yummy with the caramelized onion in it.

Yelp
Still one of the best bakeries in the city, with an almond croissant that is to die for!

Yelp
Came in 5 min before closing and still was able to snatch some airy "kwahsohns" and pan au chocolats!!! Staff was super helpful and did not feel rushed at all that they were about to close. A++ service! Just sad this wasn't open yet when we use to live 10 min from here and knowing i could of had fresh Arsicault pastries at the tip of my finger. But def worth the drive across the bridge when we're in the city!

Yelp
The original Richmond District location of Arsicault had pastry-obsessed crowds in hour-long lines. I avoided their newest store in Mission Bay for months hoping to avoid the waiting game. Expect to join a line at opening time, but it seemed to die down quickly, especially during the weekday. Based on the Blackberry Almond Hazelnut Croissant ($6.75) we tried on our first visit, I would've called Arsicault perfection & rated them accordingly. Obscene amount of filling & the subtle tart blackberry flavor balanced out the sweetness of almond paste. Slight nutty flavor, not overly buttery, & each layer had a satisfying crisp bite. Insanely delicious; ranks in the top three best croissants I've eaten. The problem with me is I always want more, & sometimes that leaves me disappointed. We returned again to try a Kouign Amann ($5.50) & Almond Croissant ($6) which were nowhere as good as our first taste. Not enough crackly exterior glaze on the kouign amann & the layers weren't as flakey as I know it should've been. Scant amount of weakly-flavored filling in the almond croissant. If everything at Arsicault were as mind blowing as the Blackberry Almond Hazelnut Croissant, I'd be in deep trouble with my trainer. Just kidding, I don't work out.
google avatar

Yelp
Always and as often as possible whenever I go to the city I make a bee line to Arsicault. The new location has slightly better lines and more delicious options. there is plenty of places to sit and enjoy your goodies at the location and the coffee is great. Do try the quiche! Yum. Best to go with friends so you can share and try something new. Love Love Love Arsicault.

Yelp
Very tasty pastries alert! Gotta love warm pastries for breakfast in the morning!! Even if there's a queue outside don't be discouraged, it moves quite quickly and the pastries are worth it. The pain au chocolat was so good, I could have one right now.
google avatar

Erika C.

Yelp
Had the mushroom onion quiche and raisin Kouign Amann. Quiche is the best one I've had in awhile. I didn't love the onions being chopped long instead of diced but that's splitting hairs. Loved the mushrooms. The crust was really flaky, flavorful and buttery. Not soggy or stiff. Kouign Amann was solid but not my favorite (B Patisserie and Backhaus' passionfruit black sesame for me). Also I didn't know they could come in a circular disc shape. The raisins in the center made the dough soggy in the middle. Small location but line moves quickly. Standing room countertops inside and three small four tops outside.

Yelp
Incredible that the most hyped pastry shop in San Francisco opens in a place with absolutely no parking. Most days when you come here there is always a special event happening and the only nearby parking lot is completely blocked off. There is no fast pickup option, or delivery option. It's completely ridiculous to be turned away from an entirely empty parking spot because I didn't pay an exorbitant early pre-registration fee.
google avatar

Nina M.

Yelp
The line goes fairly quickly because their employees work quickly and efficiently! What i love about this location is there is parking and there are tables and counters available in the newly constructed area. If you dine in, they have plates available for your food. If you do takeout and order a lot, a bag is provided for your items. I spent about $19.25 for a ham & cheese, vanilla latte, and almond croissant to go.

Yelp
My friend and I stopped in a few weeks ago to pick up some pastries and they were all amazing! We tasted them all with another friend and we all had trouble deciding which was our favorite. Everything was super fresh and flavorful- Arsicault really lives up to the hype! This location is super clean and the staff members were very friendly. The parking situation is tough, so I'd recommend walking/biking if you're in the area.

Yelp
My first pastry review?? Yeah not too big on deserts and snack. I've had croissants before and they were decent. Of course when the sis craves something , we going out of our way and I'm glad we did! I've never had a croissant so flaky and buttery as you can see everything just fell off. If you love pastries, this is a must!

Yelp
I havent tried the other Arsicault locations so cannot offer a comparison between this newer location and the others but, as an MB resident, I have tried other pastries in surrounding areas, and Arsicault comes out first. But first, let's address the elephant in the room. It's good, yes, but is it *so good that it can justify the sometimes 30-minute line that stretches to the next building? I asked the same question many times, and the line was what led me to try pastries from the surrounding places first. I don't have time for lines. But without naming the surrounding places (and let's say I've walked as far as UCSF and past the Chase Center to avoid the Arsicault line), Arsicault comes out first. The pastries are always warm. The ham and cheese croissant is my favorite -- gooey cheese, generous slices ham, wrapped in a flaky croissant. The almond croissant is also good. The location is new, clean, right next to the ball park and has a clean restroom for guests. It would be nice if they offered water -- especially given how some customers stand in line under the sun for a while before getting to the counter. But if you have a water bottle, Verde, the building where Arsicault is housed, has a water bottle filling station just on the other side of Arsicault -- outside of the building and for the public to use. In terms of pricing, it is on par with or less than surrounding places.

Yelp
The best croissant ever!!! Arsicault never misses and I'm so glad they opened one in a new area! Everytime I go, I'm so mind blown at how delicious and addicting the croissants are. I always get the chocolate almond or the seasonal flavor - I love how the sugar caramelizes and makes the croissant so sweet and crunchy, while also being soft and buttery on the inside. It's so flakey and the perfect balance of flavors and textures! I also love their bacon scone - the flavor is so good ! Definitely my favorite pastry stop in sf - will always go back and take guests here!

Yelp
Arsicault is my favorite bakery in the city, so when I found out that they opened a new location in Mission Bay, I knew I had to stop by. I did have trouble finding it since it was tucked away behind a huge building. I arrived around 8:30am on a Tuesday and was surprised that there wasn't a line. Loved the modern and simple interior right when I walked inside. I love their croissants, especially their almond croissants. They are always extremely flaky and crispy. I ended up with regular & almond croissant, kouign-amann, and a vegetable galette. You can't go wrong with any of their pastries because they are excellent. I can't wait to come back again, especially now that they are open on the weekend.

Yelp
When you want to OD on butter...Arsicault. IMO, they have the most buttery and heftiest croissants in the city with the perfect honeycomb center and shatteringly crispy layers. They may not be my fav croissants in the city BUT you certainly get your monies worth unlike $8-$9 "aesthetic" croissants that don't deliver in taste, texture, and quality (i.e. a hyped up bakery in Santa Clara). Arsicault's almond chocolate croissant ($6.75) was bigger than my pom's head! Despite having a layer of sweet frangipane (almond paste) and nicely bitter sweet valrhona chocolate, you can still see the defined laminated layers. It was rich and buttery but gets quite sweet after several bites. Perfect for sharing. Since winning the "Best Bakery in America" award nearly 10 years ago, the lines at their OG Inner Richmond location have not died down. Hate lines and want a good selection? Head to their Civic Center location. Arsicault's newest Mission Rock/Mission Bay location (opened last month) has potential to be their BEST location... (+) No crazy long line after the initial opening hype. (+) Similar menu to their Civic Center location (sans sandwiches), both offer a larger selection than their OG Inner Richmond location. (+) Incredibly friendly staff. (+) Modern space, not cramped. (+) Nice communal seating in the courtyard. (+) Easy, plentiful parking at Pier 48, Lot A (non event days). The only negative is by noontime on a weekday, pickings were very slim. We ate at Flour + Water Pizza Shop across the way and never saw a line. The staff was super apologetic because they didn't even have butter croissants left and weren't making any more for the day. Hope they ramp up production soon to meet demand!

Yelp
I've heard about Arsicault Bakery from coworkers and have seen many positive posts on social media. I was very excited to visit this bakery during my trip to the city. The pastries are delicious and expertly prepared. Everything is perfection. If you love pastries or any kind of carbs--even if you don't--run, don't walk, to Arsicault Bakery! It will be worth every calorie. Here are the items I recommend: - Bacon Gruyère Quiche - Croissant - Chocolate Croissant - Almond Croissant - Shortbread Cookies - Mixed Berry Bostock - Iced Vanilla Latte I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Arsicault Bakery - A Busy but Worthwhile Stop Near Oracle Park Located in a lively area near Pier 50, China Basin, and Oracle Park, Arsicault Bakery draws a steady mix of office staff, visitors, and sports fans passing through. Their menu features a variety of croissants--including almond, chocolate, ham & cheese, plain, and occasional specials--alongside baguette sandwiches that are especially popular at lunch. Coffee comes in multiple sizes with plenty of choices to pair with your pastry. I tried the Blackberry Almond Hazelnut Croissant, and it was excellent--crispy on the outside, with a creamy hazelnut filling, and a surprisingly well-balanced mix of flavors. My vanilla coffee was smooth, and the latte art was an extra nice touch. It's a little bit pricy but worth visiting somehow. Overall, Arsicault Bakery is a great spot for a quick visit--whether you're grabbing breakfast, a light lunch, or just treating yourself before a game. Expect crowds at peak hours, but the quality of the pastries makes it worthwhile. --- Highlights: Excellent variety of croissants Baguette sandwiches for a heartier lunch Quality coffee with beautiful presentation Best enjoyed outdoors on a sunny day

Yelp
The best croissants that don't ever disappoint! This one may have a crusty exterior but the inside is filled with fluffy, buttery smooth layers. The vegetable galette is also a must - a well-seasoned and flavorful savory treat. If you have a sweet tooth, the almond croissants are always a solid choice. This location offers coffee but unfortunately it tasted like an after thought. For an 8oz oat latte it was a hefty price at $6.50 and tasted extremely burnt (had to toss it out after a few sips). There's no indoor seating except a standing bar next to the windows. Nice and clean restroom and great customer service.

Yelp
A new branch of arsicault was opened and we had to give it a try . I got the classic - almond-chocolate croissant - one bite was enough to enjoy the perfection . Nothing like it - can't find such alight quality croissant anywhere else . One disclaimer : it is still not as good as the original branch (inner Richmond )- was missing some chocolate across the croissant . I would still prefer to go to the other one !

Yelp
Absolutely loved Arsicault!! Tried the almond croissant, kouign amann, morning bun, and the cranberry coconut scone (not pictured). Everything was so delicious, definitely recommend trying a few different things! There can be a wait to order, but it's all worth it! If you are from out of town or new, definitely add it to your list of bakeries to visit!

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday at around 12:45pm. There was a short line (no more than a 5-minute wait) and most items were sold out, but we managed to try the below items! Plain Croissant - 5/5. My goodness... the flaky layers, buttery aroma, and soft/airy interior made me so so happy. I just came back from France, and this croissant was truly better than any croissant I had in Paris (albeit we probably went to touristy spots). I would come back again just for this! Chocolate Croissant - 4/5. This was not as flaky as the Plain Croissant, but the warm chocolate filling inside was heavenly. My chocolate-loving husband loved this... he rated this a 5/5 and demolished it. Bacon Cheddar Scone - 4.5/5. I was pleasantly surprised with this one, especially since it doesn't seem to be popular here! I don't think I've ever had a good scone outside of London, and this one was actually solid. The texture was spot on with a slightly crispy exterior and a light/fluffy interior. The flavor was also great, buttery with just the right amount of bacon and cheddar. As for seating, Arsicault only has a standing bar inside and a few outdoor tables, but there are plenty of public tables/benches just a couple of steps away. I'll definitely be coming back at an earlier time to try their more popular items!

Yelp
I'm excited to having Arsicault Bakery within walking distance of work. I really like their pastries and frequent the other two locations. I've had most of the pastries but I like their almond croissant and apple turnover. The line on the second day of grand opening at 8 am was about 30 people deep. But the line moves quickly. They have an assembly line inside so get the orders out fast. Prices are a little more than the other locations. But understandable with the new location. Parking is tough in the area.

Yelp
Ariscault bakery NEVER misses. They have some of the best croissants and pastries in the city. I've tried a variety of croissants but my favorite is their almond croissant. Their croissants and so fluffy inside and crispy and light on the outside, just perfection. Their almond croissant has lots of the almond filling and is dusted in powdered sugar on the outside. Their chocolate chip cookie is also one of the best I've had in the Bay Area. It is so gooey and soft on the inside and the outside has a nice crunch.

Yelp
I came to Arsicault with high expectations from social media and the Richmond location! Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed with the quality of the croissants - it just wasn't the same. I got the almond croissant (3/5), and it was very mid. Compared to the Richmond location, where the croissants were fresh and fluffy, the almond croissant of the mission bay location fell short. It was flat, and a bit stale. The almond flavor and filling tasted delicious, but that's where the similarities stop. It tasted fine, but like any other almond croissant. This location is cute, located at the corner with few tables and chairs outside to enjoy the pastries. When we got there around 12pm on a weekday, there were already items going out of stock, so if you're looking for something in particular, I'd recommend going earlier. Service was quick, and the shop itself is clean and photogenic. I do wish that the quality of this place was the same as the Richmond location, and I'd only ever some back if I was in the area.

Yelp
I had never been here prior to this location opening and kind of sniffed at the idea of "best croissants" because how good can a croissant be? The answer: actually, very, very good. I have tried the almond croissant and the blackberry almond hazelnut croissant. They are hefty and finishing an entire one actually makes me feel a bit ill. But damn does it feel good while I'm eating it. I went on opening day and while there was a line coming out the door, I was in and out in 20 minutes. Staff were friendly and efficient. The almond croissants are piped full of luscious marzipan filling, and the bottoms are crunchy from the caramelized sugar. I thought there was a bit too much going on in the blueberry almond hazelnut. Should've kept it simple. I saved half and had the rest heated up the next morning and it was divine. I've also had the cookie, which is delicious. It's a bit crispier, not as chewy, but has a bit of saltiness that really pushes it over the top. Definitely pair your pastries with a nice bitter cup of black coffee. Next up: the ham and cheese croissant!!

Yelp
As good as they say and worth the wait! The line is intimidating - but I promise it moves pretty quickly. There were probably 30-40 people in front of me on a Saturday morning at 11am and I was done in maybe 20-25 minutes. Wish there were more tables outside. The menu is limited - mostly croissants which is what you come for. I got the plain, almond chocolate, morning bun, and kouign amann. Every item was absolutely delicious. Definitely one of the best bakeries in the city.

Yelp
Food: 5/5 I had the almond croissant and the almond blackberry croissant. Normally I don't like almond croissants because most places add a lot of almond extract which adds a sickly sweet taste. I ATE THIS CROISSANT UP!!!! It was soooo good. I was worried it would be more stale because I went 20 min before they close, but it was still flaky, buttery, and moist (?) on the inside. So worth it to go out of our way from the peninsula to get this. I haven't tried the same items at the Richmond location, but the overall croissant quality was the same. Service: 4/5 People were nice :) I know that at the end of the day, people may be tired, so it was nice that the staff wasn't rushing the customers or anything. Ambiance: 5/5 Beautiful location by the waterfront! The sun was shining in, the space has tables you can stand and eat, and the store was clean. TLDR: came out of our way from the peninsula to get croissants, arrived right before closing, but the croissants were just as fresh and delicious as ever, and never fails to impress me

Yelp
After hearing so much hype about this place, I had to go check it out! I have now visited this place twice--once on a Monday at around 9:30 AM and again on a Sunday around 10 AM. There was a decent line both times, and wait time for ordering was around 10 min. Here is what I have tried so far: Blackberry Almond Hazelnut Croissant: Huge! I could not finish it in one sitting. The blackberry compote and the nutty flavors blended beautifully. Kouign Amann: it was flakey, buttery, and had a tasty glaze! While I really enjoyed the pastries, I was a little bit disappointed with the ordering experience. My companion was a first-time visitor, and he wanted to see all the pastry options before ordering as he was not familiar with this place. Ordering happens at the very beginning of the display, which was also blocked by the line of people waiting to pay at the cashier. We let the staff know that we needed more time and it was kindly accommodated, which I appreciated. However, people behind us who were ready were allowed to order ahead of us, pushing us further back in line. I think this place could really shine even more with just a little more organization as well as thoughtfulness toward the first-time visitors who may not be familiar with this place! Right now, it feels like a place you need to do your "homework" for in advance--looking up the menu and deciding ahead of time--rather than a spot where you can just casually stop in to browse and try something new.

Yelp
What have I been doing with my life? My quest for a great croissant in SF has been completed (though I'll continue searching in vain for the microscopic chance something better exists). Decided to stop by on a Sunday morning. Line was wrapped around the block but it moved quickly. I got a plain croissant, a chocolate almond croissant, and a bacon scone. They didn't even warm up the croissant for me, but when I bit in it was soft, buttery, decadent. Outside was crisp, but not crispy to the point of dry like croissants from other bakeries. I hate when people describe croissants as crispy because far too often it means dry and disgusting. No, these were perfectly flaky and tender. For once, the place lived up to the hype and I'm an idiot for not trying it sooner. I'm so jealous my sister lives and works nearby and can go every day!

Yelp
Hands down the best croissant in the world. We recently went to France and a few weeks after visited San Francisco. Their almond croissant is unreal. The exterior is caramelized and crisp and the inside is soft and luscious. Definitely worth a stop when you're visiting the city. I promise you won't regret it.

Yelp
Finally stopped by their newest location in mission bay and this place doesn't miss a beat. The croissants are IMO still the best in San Francisco. They are fresh flakey and buttery. The service here was excellent always friendly and welcoming. Prices are super reasonable for the Bay Area. This location is small so not much seating but it close to plenty of outdoor spaces and seating in the nearby area to enjoy your treats. Would recommend!
