Art of the Table in Seattle Announces Long Goodbye Closing Plan - Eater Seattle

"Art of the Table announced in an Instagram post back in October that it would be closing its doors with a pair of last supper events on November 30 and December 1. Between now and then, only the tasting menu is available. On November 30 and December 1, it will host “the last supper” nights for $195 per person, which is already sold out. The restaurant has been open for 17 years across two locations." - Courtney E. Smith

3 Places to Try in Seattle This Weekend - Eater Seattle

"Now that Art of the Table occupies a larger space on Stone Way, there’s greater opportunity to score a spot here. Maybe you’re leaning toward a multi-course extravaganza, or perhaps you’ll cozy up to the bar in the lounge, called Under the Table, for clever cocktails or a glass of wine and access to the a la carte menu, which makes the experience a little less expensive. Chef Dustin Ronspies is an artist, no matter how you experience his food, though the best way to watch him and his team at work is to sit at the restaurant’s central counter." - Megan Hill

We visited this restaurant before its closure, and while the ambiance was lovely and the staff were friendly, the flavors unfortunately didn’t live up to expectations. The dishes were beautifully presented, but it felt like the ingredients weren't at their best—perhaps due to the upcoming closure. Most of the dishes were overly salty, and the flavor combinations seemed a bit off. I never had an instance where I did not eat half of the dish. The staff was little bit shocked asked if everything was ok. But we were why bother to complain, we just did not enjoy the dishes. All of them. Overall, I was a bit disappointed with the experience, especially given the restaurant’s reputation. The price was expensive for what they've offered. I hope the best of luck to the owners who moved on and decided to prioritize enjoying their family.

We had a great time at Art of the Table. We tried the tasting menu and enjoyed each course, the salmon, squash blossom and the earl gray panna cotta were some of my favorites. I appreciated the thought that went into creating an appealing list of “dry libations” aka non alcoholic drink options. All around it was a great meal with really nice service.

To be fair, we were received by a gorgeous slab of pork belly. This review might be biased. When you attend a tasting menu like this, you expect elevated courses and a couple of memorable dishes to brag about to your friends. We got that and James. Knowledge, kind, and boy do they know their pairings. I'm not going to spoil it for you, if you get James, you are in for a great time.

Michelin does not have a guide in the state of Washington, but if it did, Art of the Table would have at least one Michelin star. Typically at fine dining tasting menu experiences, you just have a tasting menu option - but AoT is unique in that you can order most dishes a la carte as well. That gives flexibility if you want to assemble your own adventure and still get top quality dishes. Located in a quiet part of Wallingford, from the outside, there is a subtle and unassuming energy. But once you walk in, you’re greeted by a grand round bar top that surrounds the main cooking operation. For those who want to sit and observe the chefs prepare the decadent tasting menu courses, reserve the bar top. If you have a group and want to do a traditional dinner table, you can do that too. Now, on to the food. You will get a broad array of textures, flavors, and moods. The dishes are immaculately assembled, and each dish has its own vibe. To start with, a fresh oyster with citrus mignonette granita was cutting, ice cold, and delicious. Served alongside it was a small glass of drinkable strawberry rhubarb gazpacho with vanilla oil and mint. Together, the flavors, textures, and coldness of the oyster seemed to snap their fingers as if to say “focus, we are getting started now” :) Next, I had the upgrade roasted garlic and potato crepe with egg yolk fudge and black pepper crema, which were the support for a generous amount Tsar Nicolai Estate caviar. This dish was the standout for the evening for me, because as elegant as it sounds, the flavors felt familiar, delicious, and buttery. To me, the crepe had the aroma of cooking buttery French toast on a Sunday morning, with the yolk and pepper crema there to be the supporting sauces. The caviar played the role of the salt notes on this dish and from each passing bite I found myself getting sad that the plate would be empty soon. Next, a perfectly seared scallop served over a sauce with the flavors of mushroom, truffle, fava bean fricassee. This dish provided a warm flavored, umami dipping experience under each tender bite of the scallop. Next, a pork coppa tortellini with roasted pepper romesco with grilled cauliflower. For me the tortellini filling reminded me of the earthy savory flavors and textures you might find in a pork and bean chorizo. Tasty, familiar, and yet different. Next, my wife and I each had a different variation on the steak: wagyu flatiron, and wagyu filet, served alongside notes of warm rich sauces, acidic notes, and charred vegetable textures. In my experience, wagyu is the popular thing in the dining scene these days, but this one was a well chosen cut that wasn’t overly opinionated, as some tend to be. The sear on the outside was sharp, textured, and flavorful while the inside was baked to perfection, leaving you with a combination of texture and moistness. Next was a cows milk cheese alongside eldeberry, honey, and fig. Interestingly, these ingredients on their own were all fine, but when eaten together they made perfect sense. Finally the olive oil cake alongside tarragon ice cream and dusted almond, with cherries and cherry vinegar gastrique. This was an incredibly delicious dessert and was a good ending to the journey. The ice cream had an herbal flavor and the almond “brittle” was crumbled and used as a texture to dip into. Together it was a great balance of flavors, textures, and brought it all together as the final stop of the ride. Overall, there are few places around Seattle that really lean into the legitimate multi course tasting menu experiences, and this is one of them. They do it well, they know what they are doing, and you should get out there and experience it for yourself.

Loved everything about Art of the Table. The service, the delicious food, and the wine pairings were all incredible! I also loved the open kitchen concept! Can’t wait to go back.

Food is as good as I remembered when I first tried it in their old place. Everything was tasty and flavorful. Portions were a bit much for me and my husband. But we were really satisfied with the whole experience celebrating our anniversary.

VEGAN - Had the most amazing vegan tasting menu (I did confirm ahead of time so they expected me). As much as I would have loved to tell you the details of each plate, it was overwhelming and just flat out amazing. Depth of flavor, crunchy, soft, chewy, hot, cold, spicy, comfort, refined, and on and on and on...amazing food. It's all prepared at the open kitchen if you want to marvel at their chef prep skills too. For those looking for a night out with not only quality food, but also some of the best service ever. Must experience.

- Great ambiance, but I prefer omakase restaurants - We picked this place for our annual valentine's day dinner, and came earlier than the reservation time as required by the restaurant. However, they were still prepping when we arrived and we were told to wait. Then another couple came in and they sat them down, which was odd. I felt a bit uncomfortable there, but didn't say anything. Then they sat us at the counter, which was fine except I'm usually not a fan of high chairs. The waiter was fine, but he spent less time with us as we didn't order wine pairing like other couples did. The place was still quite empty 30 minutes after dining, I guess they space out the reservation time like that. The valentine's dinner was more pricy ($195/person). It comes with amuse bouche, albacore tuna crudo, scallop & prawn tortellini, duck confit "karaage", pure country beef ribeye, and a dark chocolate dipper chocolate semifreddo (See attached pix for full ingredient list). They had two upgrade options: wagyu and caviar. We didn't, but the couple next to us got the cavar. It was like a tablespoon for $55... I've had it and it's not really my cup of tea, plus it's pricy. The Dungeness crab fried rice was crispy and delicious, but the citrus salad was a little bit too sour for my liking since there's kumquat (a small citrus fruit). I generally enjoy sour dishes, so I can tell it's too sour for my husband. As expected, he doesn't like this one and I ended up eating some of his. The scallop & prawn tortellini is a basically a huge ravioli LOL! It's cute, but I don't remember its taste now. The fried duck was great, but again the sauce on the side was too sour. My ribeye was fine, and there is a very slight difference between my husband's wagyu and mine. His is slightly more fatty, which I'm not sure if it justifies the upgrade price. The dessert was my favorite, but again it was on the sour side since there's a cherry-ginger sorbet. They gave us a cookie and a chocolate upon leaving for us to enjoy at home. I enjoyed my time here, but I think they pay more attention to the guests who ordered wine pairing. I believe the waiter did come over to refill my husband's water maybe twice. I asked for hot water, but they didn't even bother offering a piece of lemon, which was very cheap of them (since they have tons of citrus fruit in the kitchen, obviously). I believe it was around $538 or so after tax for us, which was around the price we pay for omakase courses in sushi restaurants. I think I still prefer those since we are a huge fan of sashimi, plus it's more filling. Most of the guys I know don't really enjoy the sour taste too much, so I can't imagine guys enjoying these dishes. I'd say my experience was quite neutral, though I don't think I'd come back again given the CP value was quite low in my opinion.

Yelp
Art of the Table has the charm of a very large counter seating and large kitchen where the courses are prepared and cooked, and it is one of the fine dining restaurants in Seattle, tucked in Fremont. Reservations are fairly easy to make but I still made one for 5:30pm Thursday just in case. I of course chose their tasting menu without the supplements, and I also got the wine pairing since it's about 3 glasses of wine equivalent so it is manageable and I'm not driving. I was started with amuse bouche that didn't particularly wow me ingredients-wise, but the textures are more unique - spring garlic panna cotta and foie gras torchon. Like, I've never really had a savory panna cotta! The baked river sockeye salmon roulade is a refreshing second course, followed by a halibut stuffed inside squash blossom for the third course which is fairly interesting. The vinaigrette for the third course was a bit overpowering compared to the butter sauce, so I had to end up not using the vinaigrette in order to properly enjoy the course. Dungeness crab risotto is excellent, though I caught a few stray crab shells that shouldn't be acceptable for a fine dining restaurant. Smoked pork tenderloin was served with their focaccia, but it tastes like an entree I can just order from a mid-range restaurant since there's not much outstanding creativity I noticed. For dessert, the Lost Peacock goat Gouda was great and paired really really well with the dessert wine. Similarly, the slightly less sweet final dessert wine, a late harvest Riesling, paired super well with the delicious earl gray panna cotta that I still remember the taste a few days later. Service is good as they carefully explain each course and the accompanying wine pairing, and they still do the usual clearing out plates and crumbs and fold the napkin when I use the restroom. Overall, this is a decent intro to Pacific Northwestern fine dining, but for $142 before service charge for tasting menu, I honestly expected a bit more.

Yelp
Came here for Valentine's Day dinner! Food was decent but definitely was not blown away or anything. I've done many fine dining experiences, this one seems a bit average. Ambiance was also just okay. Service is amazing. Overall not really worth the price.

Yelp
This was easily the fanciest dining experience I've ever had. The food was incredibly delicious - each bite was unique and flavorful. The wait staff were kind and professional - attentive and professional. Explaining what we were about to enjoy and where it was sourced. The restaurant itself was clean and upscale. Absolutely beautiful experience - I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
For a hefty $600 bill for two tasting menus, it was pretty underwhelming. The sweet potato curry soup and salmon mousse on a cracker should have been the first hint of what was to come. Seared albacore, cabbage dumpling, and braised pork... yawn! But what really got me was the deep-fried cheese puff. I left feeling like a sad panda, convinced this was an expensive mistake. Oh well--if we don't try, how will we ever know, right? To be fair, the ambience was alright and our servers were very attentive!

Yelp
One of the best tasting menus we have had. Food always amazing, never disappoints. Service, unbelievable. Staff is amazing. Sad to see it go.

Yelp
I think this was my favorite dining experience I ever had. The attention to detail, exceptional flavors and comforting feeling were unforgettable. I hear it is closing soon!? Which actually brings me genuine sadness. Where ever the chef goes will be lucky and certainly worth a trip. I will always remember AoTT fondly.

Yelp
We were looking for a special place for our anniversary to try our first traditional tasting-menu style meal, and Art of the Table MORE than delivered! We were able to sit at the Chef's Table, and thoroughly enjoyed watching the chefs at work throughout our meal. It was fascinating to watch the precision and attention to detail! We thought the restaurant was decorated beautifully, and the atmosphere for our 9:00 reservation was wonderfully romantic. We spent a little over 2 hours here, and the time sped by! I had mentioned that it was our anniversary when I booked the reservation, and they brought out complimentary bubbles for us to start- a wonderful touch to start the meal. The food? INCREDIBLE. Flavors I wouldn't have expected to work (almond brittle with cheese? tomato ice cream?) stunned me with how cohesive they ended up being. Every texture was on point, with some fun elements like tamari pearls, cauliflower flan, parsley gel, and basil snow. Every single bite I took wowed me! We both agreed that there were no misses. And the presentation was just beautiful. I'm obsessed with how the tuna dish was plated! I was a little worried about whether it'd be enough food at such a price point, but it was perfect! There were extras not included on the menu, like a delicious roll with the salmon course and some sweet bites following dessert. As for drinks, I got the wine pairing which worked remarkably well (for the cheese course, I was served a sherry which I was unsure of, but complimented the dish perfectly). It was quite a bit of alcohol for me (I don't drink too often), but nothing crazy. My partner got cocktails and he loved them, with his favorite being the Need to Know (Plantation pineapple rum, sesame oil washed Thai rum, Sennza fine amaro, passionfruit, lime). All in all, a pricy but WELL worth it place!
google avatar

Briar D.

Yelp
Just not quite worth the price of admission. We did the chef's tasting and a couple of the plates were interesting, but nothing blew my mind and it wound up being the second most expensive meal of my life. The tuna crudo was very good--I felt like every component contributed to a satisfying balance of flavors. Black cod was less balanced but still great. Did the Wagyu upgrade and it really tasted like a deconstructed Dick's Deluxe--which if that was the intent, well done. I liked it. Service great, ambiance fine, but given the cost I would rather have had 5 or 6 filling/satisfying meals at other establishments.

Mounika N.

Yelp
The only reason I gave 2 stars is the food taste for the amount of money they charged. I felt I had way better food for less price. I was surprised that it is possible for me to not at all like the desserts. It's likely only a personal experience and not a comment on the chefs, but that's what I genuinely felt. Service was good. Ambiance was okay.

Yelp
First I felt every dollar was worth at a $$$$ restaurant! There were seven courses, and I enjoyed every single one. Beautiful dishes and each had something that made it memorable. Servers were very professional. Price wise It came out to $196 per person (tasting menu, tax, 20% default tip, plus a drink) Also, unlike other restaurants that require advanced booking we literally called them 15 min before heading there and they were ok with it!! If you wanted to last minute splurge then this is a great place.

Yelp
We tried Canlis for the first time last year, and hadn't had a dining experience like that before so we wanted to try similar experiences in the city. We also just watched The Menu so we were really inspired for food taken seriously. Art of The Table chefs tasting was exactly what we needed; FOOD: Every dish was a fun surprise, meticulously constructed, and unique set of flavors. The quality was 5/5 as well. SERVICE: We had 4 different people take care of us during our visit. They brought the dishes at a reasonable pace and weren't bothersome. AMBIANCE: I could hear this guys entire conversation behind me and I assumed a little more intimacy for an early evening reservation and fine dining. The rest of the experience was cool; an interesting layout, some great art pieces, and a sidewalk city view from our seats.

Yelp
We chose Art of the Table for our anniversary dinner and enjoyed the food and experience! The menu was six courses plus an amuse bouche to start. Each course was very well executed and tasted great. The courses were small, but by the end of the full meal we were both satisfied with the total amount of food; we were full yet not overly full which was great. Our waiter was very nice and greeted us with glasses of champagne to celebrate our anniversary. We greatly appreciated this gift. There are a couple of points that moved this review from a 5 star to 4 star for me: - The style of the restaurant and food concept didn't seem to match in my opinion. The restaurant is fairly bright with large windows that look out to the street. This seemed misaligned with the fine dining concept. And there was a pantry or market area that was visible but closed off which made the restaurant feel like there was a lot dead space. - The menu seemed to be caught in the middle where it is neither avant-garde nor traditional. There were farm to table concepts and also some gels and powders that were leaning more towards innovative food, but the menu wasn't very cohesive. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and are happy to have tried Art of the Table.

Yelp
Service was lovely and attentive. Really loved how attentive they were and welcoming. Unfortunately, some of the dishes were way too salty and underwhelming. The entree was a pork belly but it was 90% fat and very little meat. Cute restaurant, nice experience to sit at the bar and watch the magic happen. Just wasn't our favorite meal.
google avatar

Yunkyung C.

Yelp
The ambiance didn't match the high end chef's tasting menu. It felt more like an upscale cafe vs a fine dining establishment but it was quaint and clean. The service was spectacular, the servers were very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the food. The food was good but not mind blowingly spectacular. I especially loved the scallop shrimp risotto dish with the home made bread and roasted pepper butter and also the Carmel mousse dessert, everything on those plates were 100% perfection and I'd give those two dishes 5 stars. The other dishes I'd give 3-4 stars.

Yelp
We went there for Valentine's Day dinner but I'd imagine the experience is similar on other nights. We made reservation well in advance. They called me a couple of days before to ask if we have any food allergies or other dietary restrictions. On the day of the reservation they called me too in order to make sure I was in my way. I think they only hold the reservation for 15 minutes or some short time. Upon arrival we were offered coat service which we happily used. We like the ambiance of this place. Our server was good and explained the menu to us in detail. We didn't choose wine pairing but opted to get in season fresh truffle. The food was good. The dishes were served to us at a good pace, leaving sometime for us to talk while still ensure the gap between dishes wasn't big. The server would explain each dish they brought over before leaving us to enjoy it. Overall I think this is a pretty good place. The service and the quality of the food are both high end, so is the price tag. Compare to my experiences in other similar caliber restaurants I'd say the service could still use some improvements. The servers could maybe use a bit more enthusiasm while introducing each dish to us. Good place to give it a try if you like this type of experience and have never been to this place before.

Yelp
Delicious and creative! I have been wanting to visit Art of The Table for quite some time and finally grabbed the opportunity. So glad I did! We went for an early dinner mid-week and the restaurant was quiet. Each course was artfully presented (as the restaurant name implies) and the taste was amazing. It was clear that the chefs really understand how to pair different flavors and textures together while paying attention to every detail. The tasting menu changes frequently so there is always something new to try, and reason to return for another experience. On my next visit, I'll likely add the optional wine pairing to see how it could enhance and change the flavors. Looking forward to returning soon!

Yelp
i went to celebrate my sister's birthday with my family and we really liked the overall experience here! I would love to come back during another time of the year to experience the seasonal ingredients with their unique, creative take on it. Our menu consisted of a balanced land/sea ingredients and they all tasted so good. We loved that the kitchen was very open, and even though we didnt sit at chefs table, we got to watch the food get prepared from afar & beautiful interior. I think what makes Art of the Table a unique restaurant is not only the food & friendly service but also their small shop called the Cupboard at the Art of the Table. You can find small batches of food, ready-to-bake pastries all made in house, as well as a fine curated selection of wine & sake bottles on the go! We arrived a little early to our reservation and spending little bit of time here was an absolute delight.
google avatar

Emma T.

Yelp
If I can rate this separately, I would give the ambiance a 5, and the service a 4.9. The reason for my mid rating is because of the food. I came here with my sister to celebrate her birthday, and it felt very special and fancy. I really appreciate them for calling in advance to ask if we had any dietary restrictions. I let them know that it was my sister's birthday, and they added a small candle on her desert plate at the end, which was very sweet. We had the chef's tasting menu, and I would have to say I wasn't very impressed by the food combination. I did enjoy their sturgeon, but everything else either felt something was missing or didn't give enough "umph" taste to really make their dish taste spectacular. It was quite pricy too so I did have a higher expectation and was a bit bummed out by the taste. But overall, they helped me make my sister's birthday night special, so I don't regret going.

Yelp
Have been here several times when we lived in the neighborhood, and decided to return for dinner a few weeks ago. I was so disappointed by the quality of the food. In particular. The duck dish in particular tasted very gamey and was tough, the duck confit just tasted terrible. Even the Wagyu was underwhelming. We were so looking forward to a delicious meal, but sadly it was a let down. Favorite course were the scallops.

Yelp
It's been an awfully long time since my original review, and it's safe to say the place has changed. The food was always changing and evolving all the time, and that constant stream of change is still in place. But several years ago they moved to a new space that lets them accomplish even more of what they set out to do. It's a big corner space on the ground floor of a newish apartment building, with full glass walls along two sides. There's parking. There are friendly hand-written notes on the post outside the front door. Nice building, nice materials for sure, cheerfully decorated with colorful words of welcome. If you felt like you needed to be wearing a necktie, you can feel it loosening a bit before you even step inside. There's a nice quiet bustle once you're in. Odds are most nights they're pretty booked, and they do a nice to-go business along with selling some packaged goods. You might not realize yet just how technically expert and creatively expressive the staff here is, but when you see all the different ways they make sure you're fed, you know they just want people enjoying food. Everything inside is nice--custom angled baffling on the ceiling, pretty light fixtures, custom concrete countertops. It's all as finished as can be, with plenty of elbow room. I loved the old space with my whole heart, but this room is gorgeous. You can sit at the crescent-shaped counter and watch the chefs, or get one of dozens of tables. Dining in means having the chef's tasting menu, which changes every week. Amuse bouche, 4 savory courses, cheese, and dessert. So many courses means smaller servings, for the most part. We had prawns crudo, halibut, a duck confit tamal, and pork tenderloin. The amuse bouche were salmon gravlax and a tiny pot of corn crema. You can hardly believe all the different flavors and textures you notice, even in dishes you thought were perfectly familiar. The cheese course was just a couple bites, but the cherry-onion compote was unlike anything I've tried. Dessert was poached peaches. It's a perfect little illustration of the whole meal, really. Fresh fruits, fresh herbs, carefully-prepared bits, all put together to make 8-10 bites, with several sub-recipes and steps required. We sat at the counter to watch the chefs work, and they never hurried. Despite all this focus and effort they have to invest in the meal, they have everything prepped, counted, timed, and paced while they work, so there's nothing frantic happening. Just pure joy. I really can't get enough of this place.

Yelp
Quality food. Respect for the dining process. Artful, fresh creations. Attention to presentation and balanced flavor combos including the additional wine accompaniment. Third only to Canlis and Herb Farm. So grateful to this very high echelon of food in Seattle. Also, since I'm listing all-time stand-out joints of this echelon.... I miss Rovers. Just had to get that out there.

Yelp
Super high quality and fussy, beautifully prepared food that is Iron Chef worthy. Seriously. Great vibe inside. Wonderful, knowledgeable service. Chefs 6 course tasting menu takes the guess work out of ordering. Wine pairings by course a nice add as was the optional, generous shaved white truffle add to one of the courses. Parking is tough. Red wines by glass could use expansion, pricing is $$$$$. Most expensive restaurant I've been to in a long time. Def a special occasion, could not afford to eat here regularly, but if you love artfully prepared, high quality, unique food ... you HAVE to try it

Yelp
We still love this place! We try to come back whenever we get the chance. Things are a little different, it's a little more expensive ($135) for less food now -5 courses versus 7 a year ago. But you know what hasn't changed?! The food! Still delicious as ever. The tasting came with a amuse bouche, which was this scallop ceviche with curry ish broth and squash tempura. So good. Love the flavors. Next was the albacore tuna with a strawberry gazpacho. Interestingly good! I was like strawberry with fish?! But it works! And of course you have to have foie gras (rabbit). Very rich. You need like wine to wash it down the richness. Then the smoked king salmon, best salmon ever. It wasn't overly cooked, perfectly medium rare in the middle. And seasoned very well. Then the main course, the honey duck breast with duck dumpling. This is the BEST DUCK I've ever had. And I'm Asian, we cook great ducks, like roasted or Peking... but this was to another level. It was amazing! I savored every bite of it and wanted more at the end. Dessert was also very good, very rich and well crafted. I love this place. It's a little pricey, but well worth it. Be prepare to wait a bit for your food. It's because they put in meticulous details into making every dish. Took about 2 hours to dine. When in Seattle, we'll come back. Seasonal dishes so nothing is the same.

Yelp
A perfect place for a special celebration. We were aware that the Chef's Tasting Menu would be the only dining option when I made the reservation. Instead of the wine pairings, we had cocktails, which were very creative and tasty. Every plate on the menu was outstanding. The timing between courses and the portion size contributed to a special meal. The staff is helpful.

Yelp
Very cozy, welcoming restaurant that offers both counter and table seating for (currently) a five-course set menu. It's really more courses than that, as there is also a two-part amuse bouche and and intermezzo. Highlights on our particular night were the various sauces and compotes, the sorbet and intermezzo, the succotash that accompanied the salmon, and the carbonated(!) blueberries. Lowlights were the rather tough duck breast. A wine pairing option perfectly matched each dish, with some interesting and surprising selections. Services was friendly, precise, and professional.

Yelp
Tried the chef's tasting menu for my birthday dinner. The menu was a pretty interesting New American/Asian fusion. All of the dishes were very tasty and tasted nothing like what I've had before. Really nice, relaxing ambiance. It is quite pricey for the quantity of food you're getting- each dish was maybe a couple bites. We also had to wait for quite a large chunk of time between each dish so the entire meal took a lot longer than we had anticipated. It was a great meal and I'm glad I was able to celebrate my birthday here!

Yelp
Food was delicious and the small cocktail we got was good but the one is the taller glass tasted weird. It had veggie taste to it. Service was ok. The host asked us if we wanted to check our coats upon arrival. It was a good experience but we didn't get a fancy hype/feeling after dining there. The servers seem dull and not really enjoying serving people. They would bring the food, explained what it was in a flat tone, then walked away.

Yelp
This is a great place. It's unpretentious (or less pretentious) fine dining. Great food. Good, albeit limited wine list. Very accommodating. Friendly. Really everything one wants in a restaurant experience. My one comment to the restaurant is that your website's design betrays how good your food is and you should change it to communicate this more clearly. Would come back again 100%.

Yelp
We were so disappointed with the dinner tonight. We have heard such wonderful things about this restaurant but they fell short. Every dish that was served with the exception of the dessert so so so so salty. even the bread roll that they served was salty. the dessert had way too many flavors so much so that it was overwhelming. For the amount of money you spend, it is not worth it based on what we had tonight. Unfortunately, this was not the place that we would have chosen for our 13 year anniversary had we known. Servers were lovely.

Yelp
I definitely like a nice tasting menu and pairing, but I have to be honest: the service was nothing extra, the ambiance was half empty, and the food was bland (except the sorbet) My biggest gripe: the audacity of a 20% "service charge" and then a line for 18/20/22 % tip! Yes, at the very bottom of the menu, in the smallest imaginable print, was the service charge. The food wasn't that good and it's far too woke to warrant my return . Frankly, I felt cheated. I've had total dining benders at Ascend, Bourbon and El gaucho and spent half as much for better food

Yelp
I love and hate a chef's tasting menu because you never know what you're going to get. But here, you can trust that it will deliver. My last visit here was for a Bachelorette party and some of the diners were not very accustomed to fine dining and others had dietary restrictions. The staff made everyone feel comfortable and the kitchen was great about making accommodations to the menu for those with restrictions (eg no raw seafood). Fantastic experience and I hope to visit again. Reservations highly recommended.

Yelp
The service and food were excellent. Got stuck in backed up traffic and was running late, after calling to notify of our late arrival, the staff were understanding and adjusted our seating accordingly. Had the tasting menu and it was incredible; each ingredient paired so well with each other. Appreciated the optional upgrades but they are not required. Highly recommend for special dinners and celebrations. Will be coming back for another wonderful dining experience.

Yelp
Had the chef's tasting menu. It's great. Absolutely no complaints. It is quite a bit of food though so come hungry.

Yelp
Came to Seattle as visitor for a week, ate at 2 restaurants everyday. Gotta say: this was by far the best restaurant I've experienced all week. 1. The service is great: for some reason, almost every restaurant I've visited this week had automatic 20% service charge. Perhaps this contributed to a series of extremely poor services at other restaurants all week. I was extremely happy to be greeted with warmth and amazing service throughout the whole meal. While this is basic curtesy, especially for nice edit down restaurants, the team here went above and beyond and explained every wine / ingredients, etc. 2. The food is amazing in terms of both taste and visuals. It's truly a tasting menu, whereby each bite is packed with exquisite flavors. I can see how some May complain about the size, but be here for the taste, not pig out. We sat by the counter and saw the team prepare each dish with surgical precision. 3. Wine pairing was sensible: in most other nice places, the wine pairing is an overpowering array of way too much alcohol. The team here was able to find select flavorable with a sensible amount.

Yelp
Easily the best restaurant in Seattle. My wife and I ate here for the first time celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary. The staff and chef joyfully accommodated our preferences for pescatarian and vegetarian. And, what an sophisticated and deliciously memorable meal. Every dish was on point with subtle nuances that engaged my palate. Wow! I was excited to learn that chef Dustin rotates his multi course menu every few weeks. We'll 100% be back again.

Yelp
We've been to Art of the Table a few times this year, and the experience has been mixed. Service: 10/10, every time. The staff in front and back of house are so lovely, zero complaints. Only kudos. Allergy adjustments: fantastic. Easily adapted the menu for our party every time, with exciting adjustments instead of simply taking the easy way out. Cocktails: delicious. Interesting, thoughtful, well balanced, and gorgeous. The one time one wasn't to taste, it was simply a personal preference--not an issue with the drink itself--and they replaced right away. Mains: always beautiful, but often under-seasoned or lacking in balance. For the price point, definitely hope to have each dish on point. Dessert: always the highlight, and we aren't dessert people. Both times, they've been top 10 overall desserts for the last couple of years, even with subs for allergies. Satiation: usually leave a little hungry, but the ease of grabbing a snack from the pantry doesn't hurt.

Yelp
This review is for pre quarantine shelter in place orders when Ethan dined in for our anniversary. It's a small restaurant which does degustation which we love! I don't remember the name of each of the small dishes but they were lovely. I love the decor especially the stained glass inside the restaurant. It's quite expensive so save your pennies for this place and save it for a very special occasion. The wine pairings were perfect but we shared one between the two of us so we would not get drunk and could enjoy the meal.

Yelp
Art of the Table has been my favorite fine dining experience so far in Seattle. I went in the summer time, so that definitely biases me a bit since I prefer summer produce. I really enjoyed the experience in every way. The menu progressed in a way that made sense, yet the dishes were all very distinct and could have stood on their own. While no one dish was super out of the mind innovative, I found the overall menu still very exciting. I actually prefer their level of creativity since all dishes were delicious yet the flavors and textures weren't predictable. Each dish was cooked extremely well, as you'd expect. Each dish had many great elements and flavors that combined well into a grand overall dish, which can be tricky. I found the portion sizes to be perfect as well. Each dish was a fair size, if anything, likely a bit bigger than what I have gotten at other fine dining establishments (though I would not complain if the dishes were larger haha!). My favorite part, though, was the dessert! It was a lava cake with really interesting complimenting flavors. I'm definitely biased since cake is my favorite form of dessert, so having a decently sized cake as the dessert was the perfect way to finish off this meal. I would come just for the cake! I was told that they rotate menus every 2 weeks, and I have been so tempted to go every 2 weeks but alas, the price is a bit prohibitive for me for that frequency. With that said, I did find the price was warranted given the portion size and execution of all the dishes. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
We're not much of a multi course set menu kinda people, but Art of the Table may have converted us! The carefully prepared meal was delicious beyond words...each course surprising our pallet. Great service and ambiance as well.

Yelp
The dish portions are too small for the price you paid. Food flavors are good. Street parking only, and it's a bit hard to find. The wait staff could dress better for the ambiance of the restaurant.

Yelp
I always appreciate a good dining experience and this was definitely a good one. James was excellent throughout the course of the meal. The oyster and bisque was an awesome start to our tasting menu experience. Every dish was amazing in its own way. Definitely a Michelin star experience!

Yelp
This place is actually really good! I like all the dishes on the chefs tasting menu, and it's very nice, the taste, the sauce, it's all designed by the chef. The taste is very satisfying! The foie gras with rabbit was amazing, every bite was amazing. The fish and duck were also very good

Yelp
It's been a while since we've been here and they have now moved to a larger place. The good is still amazing and it is absolutely still my favorite restaurant in Seattle as well as many other places I've been. However I do miss their old digs...it's not as intimate and personal as it used to be and I just preferred that vibe. I will say that they have now gotten into curing their own meats and the charcuterie board is the best I've ever had. My favorite was the chicken liver mousse--if I ever had to choose my last meal on Earth it would be this mousse! While I really enjoyed the tasting menu at the old place, the upside of this new bigger place is that I can come in for cocktails and charcuterie any time I like without needing to worry about reservations!

Yelp
My family was in town and Josh, my cousin, requested to go here day of his birthday. He planned ahead and made a reservation for 7 ppl this past Sunday at 5 pm. They opened at 5 pm, so we were the 1st people in the restaurant. They offer a 3, 5, or 7 course meal. They ask that everyone at your table orders the same fixed menu. We all went with the 7 course meal for $125/person. Wine pairing not included. They don't have the 7 course meal printed out on the menu, it seems to be a variety of the other menus plus some extra thrown in. So technically, you get more than 7 plates as well. Out of all the dishes we tried... My Favorites: - Salmon with corn and a yellow vinergrette - Cod with mushrooms - Beef made Asian style My Least Liked Dish: - foie gras I have only had foie gras once before, and really enjoyed it that time. This dish I felt was disproportionate with what it was accompanied with, I wish there was more bread toast and jam/ strawberry. I ate all the sides and still had a massive piece of foie gras left lol. Service was impeccable, the waitress was knowledgeable, and it was a great atmosphere. Overall, my cousin had a great birthday dinner. But between here vs. Canlis... I would choose Canlis. I seem to like the food better at Canlis if I am paying these prices. Our bill for 7 people was well over $1000.00.

Yelp
Boyfriend surprised me with a dinner here for our anniversary. We had a reservation for 7:30pm on a Sunday, but ended up in the area about an hour earlier. Decided to pop in anyway to see if we could get in any sooner. There were only a couple other parties there, and they said our spot was already ready and happily seated us at the chef's counter (which we reserved). Since it was our anniversary, they brought us a couple glasses of bubbly to start which was a nice touch. We had previously already decided to do the 7-course Chef's Tasting Menu (blind menu, so you don't know what is coming, $125/person), with wine pairings ($75/person), and added on the truffle upgrade for one of the meals (+$60). We were then brought some tiny bites in tiny dishes (oyster + granitas, a beet soup, and a mushroom bite). At first we weren't sure if these were part of the actual courses, but they were just a series of 3 amuse bouches which was fun. After that came the real courses, with wine pairings. FOOD: The seven course chef's tasting menu for the night included: 1) Geoduck ceviche (off menu) Side of a brioche roll with black truffle butter 2-A) Celeriac "risotto" 2-B) Ravioli with shaved Alba white truffle 3) Foie gras cochon (off menu) 4) Coho salmon 5) "Smoked" brisket (off menu) Palate cleanser: Quince sorbet 6) Cheese course: fried camembert ball (off menu) 7) Carrot cake dessert (off menu) The food was all delicious and had lovely presentation. While expensive, we really did enjoy the truffle upgrade (which also upgraded the wine pairing from a white wine to a yummy champagne). For the truffle course, they first brought out the ravioli, then a guy came over with a truffle and shaved it right in front of us (a surprisingly big amount). Salmon is not something we usually prefer, but it was crispy and tender and flavorful, and the smear of potato that you get was absolutely delicious. The cheese course was very interesting as well, crispy with a gooey and creamy center. The carrot cake dessert course was my least favorite, mostly because I don't really enjoy carrot that much and it was all about carrot. There were a couple of dishes on the regular tasting menu that we did not get, that looked quite nice as well. DRINK: The wine pairing was fun to do, and we found a white wine and a champagne that we really liked a lot. However, you get pretty small pours and it seems like there isn't really enough wine to be "drinking" with your dinner (but we are heavy wine drinkers...might be fine for most people). We ended up ordering a cocktail (The "Four Letter Word" $15 - super yummy!) to have something refreshing to sip on between courses. At $150 between the two of us, we felt like we may have been better off ordering a bottle of wine or some full sized glasses. SERVICE: The service was wonderful. The woman who was serving us did a great job of explaining each wine and course. The bartender occasionally came over to mention some things as well. We were brought over new serveware frequently, presented on cloth napkins. The only thing was that sometimes the wine pairings were brought well before the food itself, so we really had to pace ourselves to not finish the small glasses of wine (about half of a normal pour) and still have enough to drink with our food, before the food came out. OVERALL: We had a really lovely time and enjoyed the food and wine pairings a lot. At first we were a bit worried by the lack of people when we walked in (we had heard that it could take weeks to get a reservation here), but more people did start showing up after 7pm. We did have a bit of sticker shock when we got our bill at the end. The total came out to about $630 for the two tasting menus, two wine pairings, truffle upgrade, and one cocktail (which included about $150 in tax and automatic gratuity), so this is really something for a very special occasion. The truffle upgrade for $60 I think was worth it, especially if you've never had real truffle before, and we loved the champagne that it came with. The wine pairing we probably would not do again.

Yelp
-Food tasted good (a bit on the salty side) different. Food for 2 if us with 2 glass of wine + tip(automatically included) and tax totaled over 400 -portions were on the small side Atmosphere was nice, service was good, staff was very friendly. -the overall experience was ok, the food was ok, I like the duck (portion size of my 3 fingers). I'd recommend it if you're wanting to try something new but be ready to shell out at least $400+. But it's not for us, the cost vs the taste, quantity, quality wasn't worth it.
