Upscale Peruvian plates with creative flavors and wine pairings

"Artesano could serve their food at a scenier restaurant. It’s exemplary Peruvian fare, served on small plates and styled like it's in a downtown lookbook. Instead, this Tribeca restaurant is laid-back and kind of cheesy, and we like it that way. There’s a canopy of faux tropical leaves and rattan lamps, and sometimes lively folk music to set the tone for a low-key date night. At the same time, servers are in button-downs, and the food is definitely upscale, with upscale prices. Try the aji de gallina or branzino in Amazonia curry—a rare find in the city—and of course, order plenty of pisco sours." - neha talreja, willa moore, carlo mantuano
"If you want to have dinner on the earlier side, Artesano is doing one 5pm seating for their $150 prix-fixe menu. Before you get to party-hopping, stop by for beautiful plates of Peruvian food, decorated with purees, sauces, and other accouterments that each provide a new layer of flavor. With some live music and plenty of pisco sours on hand, you can get your evening started somewhere lowkey before ramping it up for the rest of the night. Make your reservation here. " - neha talreja
"Artesano does Peruvian fine dining, with fine-dining prices, but in a low-key, loungey set-up. At this Tribeca restaurant, dressed-up dishes like aji de gallina, and branzino in Amazonia curry come partially deconstructed on pitch-black stoneware, and decorated with purees, sauces, and other accouterments that each provide a new layer of flavor. The space can feel kind of cheesy—the canopy of faux tropical leaves and rattan lamps is a little on the nose, and we clocked at least one neon LED sign—but bring a date or friend who's sick of the more sceney spots downtown, and let loose with some pisco sours and great ceviche. photo credit: Atif Ali" - Neha Talreja
"Artesano, a new Peruvian restaurant in Tribeca, is aiming to give diners a taste of South America without the hours-long flight."

"A Peruvian restaurant run by chef Rodrigo Fernandini, featuring a seven-course tasting menu priced at $140 per person, with dishes like ceviches and snow peas." - Emma Orlow
