Artichoke Basille's Pizza JFK Review - JFK Airport - New York - The Infatuation

"The best thing you can get at Artichoke is a breakfast stromboli, which is made with pizza dough and stuffed with eggs, cheese, sausage, and vegetables. It makes for an ideal hangover cure if you took a cab from the club to the airport, or simply just want to make everyone at the gate within wafting distance jealous." - Anne Cruz

Google
Mediocre at best and I’m always open minded. This is a takeout spot where social media hyped up to more than really deserved. Don’t get me wrong. The pizza is not bad, it’s just not great.. Service is very good and friendly but hard to justify the six dollar slice.

Google
I’ve always loved the classic artichoke slice — it’s very creamy. Lately though, it’s been a bit too salty for my liking. This time, I went with the meatball parm slice and it was easily one of my favorites. I also tried the pepperoni vodka, which comes as a thick square slice. The crust was dense and filling, but overall it didn’t really stand out for me. One thing I do appreciate is that they’re open late, until 4am. That said, there’s usually a long line and the small ordering window makes things feel pretty chaotic — especially on busy nights.

Google
Ordered a crab slice and artichoke slice. I always wondered what crab would taste like on a pizza and it's great, but the artichoke pizza is even better. It's so good! The slices are massive.

Chris

Google
We tried the Staten Island, Atichoke, plain cheese and Sicilian....every last one was delicious!! Friendly and welcoming environment and staff. Great vibes all around. Our family had an great time. Thank you!

Google
Extremely good Pizza, I´m a big pizza fan, LOVED this place. Basically: tasted increeeedible and had 3 completely notable different crust densities which you could feel and enjoy as hell. Place by itself it´s just alright, food amazing. Make sure you try the Artichoke Pizza (the left one on the picture).

Google
The customer service in this place phenomenal I came across at 3:20 AM at night and grab a slice of pizza and it was phenomenal good cheese, crispy dough. Shoutout Erison.

Google
Obsessed with this pizza and the environment was so welcoming! We ordered the sampler and I definitely recommend getting this if you want to try different slices at once you get to choose from 3 different slices, delicious!! We ordered the crab, artichoke and a white slice and they cut it in half so it’s not hassle sharing. Will be coming back for more 😂🙏🏻

Google
A nice pizza spot. Artichoke 18” is great but a lot (as staff warned us). We didn’t listen. 18” + 12” for party of 7 was too much. Very delicious though (as staff promised!) We shared sangria and margarita pitchers and they were normal. Great neighborhood to hang outside, though

Yelp
Food- Artichoke has that sort of pizza you don't mind getting heartburn for... the kind of pizza that you say to yourself, "Self, would you like to eat incredibly delicious food in exchange for potentially mild discomfort" and before your self gets to respond, you're already 1.5 slices in!!! DE LI CIOUS! The meatball(beef baby) is 1 of my favorites and then the margherita slice! They also have a 3 slice special! It's listed at a nice discount at about $25 when the slides inside are almost $10 each. Service- Okay. The host sat us immediately. The bartender took awhile to acknowledge us and take our order even though we sat at the bar. Seating are high tops only so be advised and be prepared to sit up and not down if that matters to you. The wine was ok, I wouldn't get it again and the canned drinks are priced to be expected for the Williamsburg/Bushwick area. Overall I'd give them a solid 4.5/5 and 2 thumbs up. The pizza is THAT DARN GOOD! Highly recommend.

Yelp
The artichoke slice is 100% worth trying, but (as mentioned in other reviews) the sauce is a little salty. Their vodka slice is SO GOOD. I would come back for the vodka slice more than the artichoke slice. Delicious, but definitely an indulgence (and tastes even better at the end of a night out). Going on my list of late night bites after the bar!

Yelp
Excellent spot, amazing pizza! James was so so attentive during our visit. He checked in multiple times and made sure we had our drinks always filled! The pizza was so good and tasty! Barely finished one slice! Downstairs they were playing live music!

Yelp
This place is phenomenal. Sit down, waitress takes your order and the pizza comes out promptly. The sauce on the vodka slice is insane. So so good. The crust is also nice and crispy. The meatball parm slice was so good. The sauce is on point here and is a huge game changer to pizza. I did not try the spinach artichoke slice and I'm glad, reviews and my friend said not to. It is really nice and pretty in here. Would love to come back!

Yelp
Ordered a slice of krab pizza and pepperoni pizza. Each slice came cut in half so it equated to 4 total pizza slices so we are working with some nice hefty sizes here. Each slice costs $8.95. My favorite slice was the pepperoni of the two. Imitation crab meat is used for the Krab slice. I would've preferred real crab and it would make the slice much better. Love the ambiance of the place and the great attentive service. This is a must try if ever in the area!

Yelp
Second time here. First time I enjoyed the pizza. Second time not so much. Whoever the chef was the first was better. I found the margarita slice crust shaky, the cheese was too thick and the sauce lacking flavor. The sad part is not only wasting $ but not having my hunger satisfied. Don't recommend.

Yelp
Slices are massive and delicious. The grandma might be my favorite simple slice in nyc but maybe it's just my salty cravings these days saying that with recency bias. The Artichoke slice is usually very salty (like my tongue will feel messed up) but I still crave it regularly and I haven't had a slice that can compare to it. They really could upgrade their outdoor seating by the take out window (there are rats). This location is also a block away from the Jefferson L train station so it's convenient and fairly priced for what you get. The wait usually isn't too long (like 15 mins on average) but often they take a while to acknowledge your existence at the window and you have to reach past anyone ordering to grab the toppings inside the window after you get your order so there could be improvements.

Yelp
It's an absolute must to get greasy, heavy foods after a night out, and besides the food trucks that we visited, we were sooo happy to get our helping of pizza at 3 am. Despite the time, there was still a 10 min wait, and everything was takeout only too. There are a couple of seats outdoors you can sit at if you don't carry your food elsewhere. - Artichoke pizza: 4/5, a bit cold, but portion was big and satisfied my pizza craving. It is on the saltier side - Margherita pizza: 4/5, also a bit cold and chewy, but good portions too thnx for reading, byee

Yelp
Get the crab slice! It is creamy and full of imitation crab bits. The artichoke slice was very salty in some areas - the seasoning was not consistent. The vodka slice was a rip-off! Look at the size compared the other two slices! It was $25 before tip and tax for 3 slices or it is $9 each. This location gets packed easily and isn't the most clean. It is pretty expensive for the pizza.

Yelp
Dig into their mouthwatering, oversized slices that will redefine your pizza expectations! Whether you're grabbing takeout or dining in, it's the ultimate spot to savour a variety of flavours by the slice. From classic pepperoni to their signature vodka pepperoni, every bite is an explosion of flavour! We ordered: Sicilian, pepperoni, vodka pepperoni, Staten island, and white pizza. Can't stop dreaming about that vodka pepperoni slice - it's next-level deliciousness! Service 5/5 Food 5/5 Ambiance Exterior environment 3.5/5 (we went for lunch with our tour group and we were told to not stray away from the Main Street and to stay with our group and avoid staring. To be honest, it didn't feel like a dangerous neighbourhood but it still heightened our senses)

Yelp
Great place to stop by for a late night slice! We dropped by around 1am and were able to order from the window quickly. My favorite was the artichoke slice while my boyfriend's favorite was the crab. Slices are huge too! The one red sauce pizza we got, the crust was a little too thin as it kept falling apart when we were trying to pick it up to eat. There was a guy singing and jamming out on the corner of the street so it was fun watching him while we ate our pizza. Lots of rats running around too. Perfect NY night!

Yelp
Came here for pizza after a night out and was very pleasantly surprised. I'm not from Brooklyn but it smelled great passing by. I got a pepperoni and meatball slice and they were so good. I appreciated that the sauce was not too sweet, but also not too salty. The portions here are so sizable too. The staff was friendly and food was out pretty quickly. Overall, I had a very positive experience and would come back

Yelp
Great spot to get a bite after a show across the street. Was a very happening facility but still we got seated almost immediately. Food was delicious (had two different style pizzas). Person next to us had a huggggggggggeeeeee calzone that was savory.

Yelp
Delicious amazing service 10/10 I got the Staten Island. Ate up no crumbs yum yum yum yum
google avatar

Jaba J.

Yelp
Their signature slice -- creamy spinach-artichoke dip layered on thick, crispy crust -- is rich, filling, and uniquely delicious. It's a must-try if you've never had it.
google avatar

Cece L.

Yelp
It's just okay. The sauce is on the saltier side and the cheese is kinda rubbery. There is a nice crisp in some bites, but in others the crust is too soft or too hard. It's a large-ish slice which is nice but for over $6 I wouldn't go back.
google avatar

Jay C.

Yelp
This review is strictly for ordering at the counter and takeout. The ordering process was smooth. The artichoke slice was so rich, so creamy, extremely indulgence. One slice is just the perfect portion (for me). I ate it sober and I cannot image how much more seductive it would be when eaten drunk. I'll be dreaming about it for sure.

Yelp
I found out about Artichoke's years ago though Yelp when their big slices swept across my feed. Since then, I partook in a slice at their 14th Street location - I thought it was quite good but since then I haven't had another opportunity to try them. I had just gotten out of a concert in Brooklyn the other week and was looking for some nourishment and before I knew it, the Artichoke sign was in front of my face. I took it as a sign, so off I went. Artichoke is best known for their...artichoke slices, though they do have a few other varieties as well. The slices are huge with a medium-thick crust, one slice is plenty and if you're looking for a traditional NY slice this isn't the place to find it. As we approached we saw an indoor seating area with a small number of tables for outdoor dining, as well as a walk-up ordering window. We didn't feel like sitting, so we opted for the window. Shocking, but I decided to get the artichoke slice, and it was tasty as expected. If you've never had it before, think of artichoke dip on top of a big slice of pizza. The topping was creamy, albeit super hot and messy - it was kinda loose which made a good amount fall off. If I ever come back here, I would probably get a different variety - the artichoke was good but can be a bit much. Service was fast, and overall I had a fine experience at Artichoke. This is more of an in-and-out place, especially if you opt for the takeout window. I wouldn't call this amazing pizza, but also not bad either. Regardless, it hit the spot.

Yelp
Extremely rude even the staff and other customers seemed extremely upset and frustrated with him. This place's pizza is great. The service is terrible. My friends and I got a pizza, made fresh and tasted great. The owner, Scott, brought our pizza out and spilled one of our entire cups of beer on me, he said sorry that's all. No problem. When I went in to clean myself up in the bathroom, he yelled at me and said "can I help you? You ran in here, didn't buy pizza or anything?" I said "yes I did, you just spilled that beer on me." He acted like I was dumb and said obviously someone's in there. When I came out he said "oh sorry I didn't recognize you".... Extremely rude even the staff and other customers seemed extremely upset and frustrated with him.
google avatar

Daniel L.

Yelp
That'll be a big no from me ya. I was at once happier when the slice was over than when I had received it. Upon first touch it was hard to differentiate between the cardboard box and the crust of the slice. The sauce tastes like it was tomato paste uncooked and spread straight from the can. This liege is too good to bother it with poor execution. As much as I love a good pizza window. It won't be this one ever again. Side note the pigeon didn't want a bite of the crust that I tossed to him. I assume the pizza bar is set high even for pigeons. I don't disagree

Yelp
Delicious high standards pizzas. The quality's of the pizzas where fresh, with generous amounts of sauce, cheese and pepperoni. Definitely worth the money. It was clean and well organized. Service was great. High quality pizza whenever your craving for fresh and authentic pizza

Yelp
Haven't had Artichoke in a minute so the hankering was real. Ordered a couple small pies for delivery and they were as good as I remembered. Although, was it always this salty? Either way, the signature artichoke pie still slapped.

Ryan K.

Yelp
Pizza is good but servers not so kind. Dead restaurant and we sit down and they kicked us out after ordering on the side. Guy at window just was sitting on his phone, he was alright when decided to serve.
google avatar

Yelp
Ive been to both williamsburg and downtown Brooklyn location and Ill tell you something. These locations are never a let down at all. They have so many selections and the slices are huge... The garlic bread.....the garlic bread ... OH MY GOODNESS. The bartender put us on in Williamsburg and Id like to thank her for her service. This location is a great late night spot for some quality pizza. They stay open late.
google avatar

Frances D.

Yelp
Pizza was huge and very good. Artichoke pizza was the best, with perfectly creamy cheese mix top although I wish there was a bit more artichoke on it. The crab pizza was good but I do think the imitation crab could have been slightly higher quality. Friends gave good reviews for the sicilian and vodka pizzas! I do wish the seating wasn't only high tables.
google avatar

Larry W.

Yelp
Let's talk about the Mecca of pizza. A slice of pizza is something that gets messy. As a true New Yorker, I need to witness the crunch. This pizza was a beautiful bite of memories. The outside area was pretty cool to sit by. Some seats, a fly here and there; It's okay to be rough around the edges. Wait time is a little sketchy for the larger pie. For taste, it's one of my top pizza spots 4sure.
google avatar

Lynn D.

Yelp
It makes me so sad to write this but If I could give zero stars just for the service alone, I would .. The server had a terrible attitude and argued with us saying we ordered an entire pie when we literally ordered one slice & not only continued to overcharge us, but did not even give us the whole pie she stated we had ordered. Absolutely sickening service compared to the other locations. I am beyond disappointed by the service in this place. Definitely frequent one of the other locations on a different night of the week.
google avatar

Michelle W.

Yelp
Massive slices to fulfill that 3am post-night-out craving! Definitely made sure I didn't forget my lactaid at home for this one aha What we ordered: - Artichoke Slices Final Thoughts: After a late Saturday night out, my friends and I joined the long line to grab our slices. The slices were massive and the sauce was practically dripping off each slice. This is definitely a messy one to eat and though I wish there was more cheese and less white cream sauce with some more color on top, this is definitely a classic way to end your night out.
google avatar

Steven V.

Yelp
This was an incredibly fantastic experience in & out of this restaurant, I enjoyed how flavorful the sauce on the famous artichoke slice was 10/10, The staff was very friendly & professional, the ambiance was quite rustic to say the most. Great spot.
google avatar

Juju W.

Yelp
Interesting neighborhood full of food trucks but we decided on pizza. I had the margherita which was excellent. Thin yet crispy and topped w delicious sauce and cheese. But the tab w tax/tip was $11! All the pizzas in the display case looked delectable.
google avatar

Shannon S.

Yelp
My friends and I walked here after seeing a concert at The Brooklyn Mirage. It was nearly 4:00 AM, and it was still bustling in the neighborhood. Artichoke Basille's even had a line! We ordered our pizza and it came out piping hot. We gathered around and devoured the giant slices of pizza - it was the perfect way to end our night out! We got a variety of pizzas, including their famous artichoke pizza, but I decided to go with a classic margarita pizza. There was a great balance of flavors and textures. It hit the spot!
google avatar

Debbie A.

Yelp
We stopped over here after attending an event nearby. The service was so so, it was pretty late on a Sunday and there was only one employee on the floor. Regarding the actual slice, it was pretty rich and large- I asked for extra cheese and got globs of mozzarella which made it hard for me to finish the whole slice! I had to take the other piece home. The space itself felt like a dive bar and it was pretty chill. I would come back here again especially after a night out of drinking.
google avatar

Miriam W.

Yelp
Best artichoke pizza and Margherita pie. Although pricey, you really do taste the difference. Not to salty and always hits the spot.

Marko R.

Yelp
Not good. I was racially profiled and kicked out before I could eat by the restaurant owner who approached us aggressively. I don't typically write reviews, but this was the worst overall service I've personally had in the entirety of New York Pizza restaurants. I will not be supporting the artichoke brand after this. Death to corporations, long live small businesses and store fronts.

CJ R.

Yelp
The cheese doesn't taste real. Margarita pizza is bland and soggy The signature slice underwhelming
google avatar

Steve T.

Yelp
Their pizzas are huge. Like hugeeeee! Each slice is like the size of your head. Their famous artichoke slice is loved by many, but since white sauce isn't my first pick, I went for the red sauce. The pepperoni slice was okay at best. Something with the size of the pizza definitely makes the our experience albeit less enjoyable. I have tried the white sauce and was too creamy for my liking. If you to try this place, skip the red sauce and see if the white sauce lives up to the hype.
google avatar

Brian S.

Yelp
Just found out they deliver their huge slices so 5 stars for that. Their pepperoni slices are made perfect NY style. Thin, foldable, crispy underside and the pepperonis curled up. I don't like their crab slice in the very least, but it's definitely a unique slice. I wish you could add toppings like mushrooms or something but they're doing just fine. It's known as the after bar or before bar get a slice place in the heavily trafficked Starr area. They're never gonna go out of business. They won the location lottery.
google avatar

Evan L.

Yelp
Just a really solid slice, and big too. Worth the price. Perfect for after a night out.
google avatar

Samuel C.

Yelp
We had a party of 6 folks and we loved our individual pizza slices. We didn't get pictures because you know it was so good looking we had to go ahead and take bites. The pizza with crab and lobster sauce is wonderful. Everything we had was great. The meatball and Ricotta was the show stealer. Our waitress was very attentive to our group and got our drink orders very quickly. I would highly recommend this place if you have a group or what a quick slice.
google avatar

Chris B.

Yelp
Overall the ingredients are ok and it'll do in a pinch, but the pizzas for delivery could be a bit sloppy and the pepperonis are very thick, so if you prefer thin, then not for you.
google avatar

Rebecca R.

Yelp
When you are hungry and drunk this is the spot. Thin, big slices of juicy pizza pie. I'd highly recommend grabbing a slice here to satisfy that evening craving.
google avatar

Phil H.

Yelp
Nothing like a good big slice of Artichoke pizza and a Diet Coke. Good spot to grab a slice while on the go or after bar hopping in Brooklyn. It's one of the larger locations of this pizza chain that you'll find around the city. Definitely not the cheapest pizza but much better than most .99 cent slices. Of course, the Artichoke slice is a go-to.
google avatar

Samantha S.

Yelp
I was surprised by the bad ratings here, but then again, I suppose I have different expectations than someone walking in here for the first time on a whim. Let me tell you what to expect to maximize your experience, by my standards anyway. Their artichoke pizza is to die for: creamy, flavorful, engulfing. The portion sizing is significant. If you're a diehard pepperoni head, theirs is pretty decent also. Beyond that, I wouldn't necessarily order another flavor here. Stick to what they're known for. Sure, the line for the take out window is long and tedious (especially late at night, when everyone in it, probably including you, is drunk and ravenous), but I've always found it to be worth it for that hot artichoke slice. I never bother with eating it "for here" and recommend you don't either unless you're willing to pay more. Instead, I'd recommend taking your slices on a fun little walk to anywhere more interesting (it's not that hard, you're close to many other things) and devouring them on the way. Breakdown of why I'm giving 4 stars: 1. The pizza. I craved it so strongly while I was in lockdown in California that I tried to recreate my own from scratch via recipes on the internet, but it wasn't the same. 2. Value. It's no dollar slice, but it is large. 3. Consistency. I've never been disappointed by an artichoke slice. 4. Convenience. Thank goodness they are open late, past the hours of most other joints in the area.

Emme G.

Yelp
immaculate place! Be warned, the slices of pizza are insanely large, so come hungry and plenty! The servers and owners are so nice. The bathroom is single handedly so amazing and incredibly decorated and the music is curated to fit the vibe of the place (and clearly the taste of the owner). 10/10 please come here. (-- signed a group of three relatively shy teenagers)

Abdul-Azeez A.

Yelp
Pretty good value pizza in bushwick, I got a ice of the crab pizza and previously I got a slice of the artichoke pizza. It's got a dive bar kind of vibe, kinda dark and dingy. Big ass slices of pizza i respect it.
google avatar

Katy D.

Yelp
Very good pizza for the price. I got a plain cheese pizza slice. The crust was thin and crispy and it folded in half perfectly. It had quite a bit of sauce and The slices were a pretty decent size as well, and I got full off of one slice. Added bonus for being open late!

Yelp
2010 is when I first tried Artichoke Basille's pizza. I remember my kids saying: Dad These slices are hugeeee! I had plans to go to another pizza spot but when we arrived, the sign of the front door said they open at 5pm. Yelp has the hour posted as noon... My wife has a hair appointment at 2, I did a search and found Artichoke a few blocks away. Walking towards the restaurant, it's a nice set up. There are tables outside and the interior is painted black. Wait, black?? We're given menus, I order a Witte on tap. They have a $16 deal, your choice of any three slices. I ordered: Pepperoni Crab Artichoke From what I remember, the crust was thicker to hold the crab on that large slice. The pizza we had, the crust was thinner than what I first had in New York City. But that crab pizza is so on point. This isn't a ham and pineapple combo, the crab sauce combo makes you want more. Let's call it crack crab pizza. Artichoke Basille's pizza isn't the new Kid on the block anymore but it's nice to know they're still making those funky slices after all these years.
