Ryokan Asadya, which has been hosting guests since the mid 17th century, is a unique place. Not just for the exquisite food and comfortable spacious perfectly proportioned rooms (of which there are only four) but for the graciousness of the hospitality, which they have made into an art form. If you are fortunate enough to get a reservation here, don’t pass up the chance. It’s a once in a lifetime experience.

Our very gracious hostess and her team made our stay here one of the most exceptional experiences in my life. A truly fantastic and authentic Japanese stay in a peaceful and beautiful ryokan. I highly recommend this hotel. The dinner and breakfast were both of the very highest quality. Thank you.

There are many reasons to go to Kanazawa, for us it was the Kenroku-en Gardens. And there are many hotels to choose from, but the Ryokan Asadaya seemed special—and it was.||What made it special?||Asadaya is located in walking distance of the Kanazawa Castle Park and the Kenroku-en Gardens as well as other sights. It’s right across from the fabulous and bustling Omi-cho Market, but when one enters the beautiful old building one is immediately transported into an atmosphere that combines warmth and tranquility. The rooms, baths, and appointments are traditional, beautiful, comfortable, and spacious. Meals at Asadaya are memorable in every way. We loved the focus on regional mushrooms, vegetables, fish, and duck prepared with deep culinary understanding and artistry. The presentation of the dishes made one want to know more about the local craftspeople and their wares and traditions.|The skilled people at Ryokan Asadaya pull it all together. The building and staff work together to create a lovely realm that feels timeless and relaxing. ||And one gets to enjoy one the top three gardens in Japan.

A fabulous ryokan in the heart of Kanazawa. The owner and her staff were extremely welcoming and did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. The room was very large and elegant, and had a small private garden in front of the window. Dinner and breakfast were served in another room, also with a great view on a private garden. The dinner was fantastic, Kaga style kaiseki cuisine with lots of local ingredients and fresh products. The private family bath was simple, but extremely enjoyable. Great breakfast as well - we went for Japanese style. Honestly, one of the best if not the best ryokan I have been to in Japan.

Truly remarkable service! Came for the food and was blown away by everything else too! Our first dinner that I stayed they discovered that I didnt speak Japanese and re-printed all the menus for us! Very personal and comfortable. The room was immaculate and the reservable onsen was very comfortable. Food was on another level. The mix between comfort and fine dining created an experience I've never had before.

Looking out the windows of Asadaya, you’d never suspect you are in a large city. From the second you are greeted, time just seems to slow down. My wife and I are two very loud people, personality-wise, but the politeness and reverence of the staff is infectious - you can’t help but slow down as well. From the incredible culinary offerings, to the on-site onsen (including a private suite if you want to reserve it with your partner), to the accommodations themselves, I can’t praise this place enough. Put it on your list.

Our two-night stay at Asadaya was perfect. Just perfect. The staff were beyond helpful. The food was amazing - Michelin rated breakfasts and dinners . The rooms were gorgeous. The onsen was lovely and available for private reservations. The yukatas were comfortable. It was overall one of the highlights of our two-and-a-half week trip to Japan. There is absolutely nothing that I would have changed. A perfect way to celebrate my husband's birthday.
