"Great tacos can be found at the Rainey Street outpost of Asador. There are fillings including brisket, cauliflower, and carnitas; and then breakfast iterations such as migas, pork belly and eggs, and more. There are outdoor dine-in areas courtesy of host site the Drafting Room, and takeout orders can be placed online." - Erin Russell

"When you’ve been out drinking, all tacos are good tacos—or at least that’s what our late night Taco Bell receipts seem to indicate. But after an evening of nothing but Topo Chicos, we’ve confirmed that the tacos at Asador are good at any time of day, and in any state of mind. There are multiple locations in the downtown area—at The Grackle, Las Perlas, and here on Rainey—so the tacos clearly cater to a post-bar clientele. And after you make your way through a few crispy, griddled brisket, carnitas, and grilled chicken tacos, you’ll quickly see why. " - raphael brion, nicolai mccrary

"When you’re drunk at a bar downtown, all tacos are good tacos. And for that reason, we had to make a follow-up visit to Asador after we woke up the next morning reminiscing on dreams of griddled tacos. There are three locations in the downtown area— , Rainey Street, and this one at —so the tacos here clearly cater to a post-bar clientele. But we can confirm after an evening of nothing but Topo Chicos that they live up to our memories. They’re far better than they need to be, and for that we’re extremely grateful. " - Nicolai McCrary

The food was amazing! HUGE TACOS! The menu is really large and transparent so I don't understand the other reviews being surprised about the tip Policy. I'm happy they try to pay their employees a fair wage! The menu is actually comically large and hard to miss. I recommend the mushroom tacos and the quesadilla.

Google
I saw the feature on Texas Eats so decided to give it a try. So glad we did!! The customer service was great and the food even better. The reviews were spot on...an overall great experience. The mole mushroom taco will change your life...don't debate me on this. My daughter loved the brisket taco....in fact we ordered one more of each. As stated in other reviews, it's pricey, and we didn't expect the additional health and wellness fee😵‍💫. All things considered, would we return, YES!

Google
This place is a scam! I ordered 2 tacos and a drink which should come out to $18, which is still expensive for tacos, on top of that the workers tip themselves without transparency 30% of of your bill! I paid $24 for 2 tacos and a sparkling water!! The food is also extremely mid, and hardly give you any meat. out of all the places in austin to get tacos do not go here! there are so many better options. Don’t be fooled by fake positive reviews posted by the owner. It’s obvious by the many 1 star reviews a 5 star experience is not what you receive. This restaurant doesn’t want to pay their employees livable wages so they leave it in the hands of their customers enforce shady automatic gratuity. Terrible business practice. Sad to see such a scam operate on Rainey Would actually be happy to see my receipt posted to show the added $6 tip on my $17 meal :)

Google
I'm vegetarian and their cauliflower and mushrooms tacos to die for... and the guacamole and chips 😍. I'm visiting from nyc and have been on austin for 3 days already, and they have the best tasty tacos so far..🩷 these chips taste like they made it there, same with the tortillas

Wanted to try something new, saw this place across the street. We paid about 70 for 5 tacos and chip trio. They were out of queso so they said they’d charge us four salsa and throw in guac for free. That never happened.. food was really greasy and tasted sweet. Honestly taco wey is better

Google
The tacos were amazing, best corn tortilla I’ve ever eaten. We had a variety including chicken, cauliflower and beef. They were out of several items which was kinda annoying since those items were still posted, including a daily special. The staff member that helped us was pretty standoffish, which no big deal, I don’t know what kind of day he had. But I was a bit miffed when a 20% “tip” was automatically applied to our ticket. Considering it was entirely counter service (order, pick-up, bus your dishes), nothing about it struck me as a 20% service experience. So as a whole, it ended up feeling a bit overpriced. But like I said, tacos were indeed very good.

Google
Love the flour tortillas. Asked for a rec and got the chicken pastor which was great. Also got the veg taco which they warned was spicy but I like spice… but this was way more spicy than I expected. The agua Fresca was good. I love the bar it’s at (the drafting room) but the tacos for the price weren’t as good as I was hoping based on how they looked and sounded

Google
Great taco place. It was pretty dead for lunch time on a Saturday, but we ordered pretty quickly and food was fast. Tacos were delicious and chips and queso was great too. They do charge 20% gratuity on all orders, but I usually tip that so I don’t mind.

Yelp
Came here for a quick lunch after landing and it was perfect! Quaint, cute vibes and decor with outdoor seating. The menu was small, as many taco shacks are, but was very good! I got the chicken and brisket tacos, my cousin got the cauliflower tacos and we split the chips and guac! All tacos were packed with flavor and the tortillas were clearly homemade and delicious! Would return! (Was so hungry, forgot to take pics. Sorry!)

Yelp
I'm surprised to see some of these reviews as I had a most excellent experience! Great service and excellent food! The chef suggested the pastor taco, and I was wow'd on how tender and flavorful the meat was. Came with two sauces, a green and an orange which were just as good! I highly recommend! Looking forward to returning!

Yelp
Staff is super nice. Tasty, huge tacos. Brisket Taco - 5/5 Pork Carnitas Taco - 4/5 Tacos are massive but also expensive. Guacamole is fresh and delicious but also expensive. Brisket taco was great. Hot, greasy deliciousness. Carnitas was good too.

Giselle E.

Yelp
I looooved their carnitas tacos! I'm gluten free so they offered a corn tortilla option. They give a heavy portion of meat which I thoroughly was pleased with. Their homemade green salsa is suuuper spicy so you only need a tiny bit. The meat flavor is amazing and no need to toppings. Their homemade chips and salsa were also so delicious! I would definitely recommend and would return to enjoy these again.

Yelp
Overpriced but unfortunately super tasty Found myself starving during SXSW so I mustered up the courage to drop $16 on a quesadilla and a water bottle. Really it's the size of a taco. Was it worth it? In the moment, yes. Will I be back? Absolutely not. So expensive and there's better places with easier parking. This place is solely for when you are desperate, hungry, and drunk on Rainey.

Lauren A.

Yelp
Excellent tacos! I got the chicken taco and the cauliflower taco and both were delicious and served hot. Tortillas and salsa were both top notch.

Fatima L.

Yelp
Service was great. Food was tasty and the salsa was just the right spice. Could have used a bit more ventilation but it was comfortable. The food was a bit pricier than I was expecting but was definitely worth it.

Yelp
This is my favorite taco truck so far in Austin. Located conveniently on Rainey Street if you're downtown. The brisket is not only stellar it's the way they grill the taco shell and the meats! I'm not sure what there 'process' is but there is def a technique! Highly recommend for the brisket taco lover! The chicken & carnitas are good as well but the brisket

Jason A.

Yelp
Mediocre tacos in my opinion. Service was not the best either. If you are looking for a quick bite late, but don't mind being disappointed, here is your spot!

Brittany B.

Yelp
Used to love the food here but had a horrible experience tonight. Had tacos from the Rainey location and mentioned these look a little burned and was told to fuck off by your employees working tonight. Both the man working the cash register and the man working the grill.

Jody R.

Yelp
There's so many options on this street, and this place...nope. We were given the wrong order, but I'll eat anything so whatever. I thought the portions were small, and I don't eat much. Prices are insane. $18 for 2 tiny tacos and a soda. There's a strange seasoning on the meat and chips that tastes weird. The meat was tender/juicy though so it would probably be good if you're drunk. The queso tasted exactly like beer cheese soup. I like that fine with sandwiches, but it's queso. Maybe there's beer in it. If so, I wish I had known that so I would've known what to expect because that just killed it along with those f'd up seasoned chips. This food is not Texas. Head to the food trailer park instead. This place is some bullshit.

Brad A.

Yelp
The tacos are good, but they are expensive and small. Hard to justify 3 bites for $8.

Bird S.

Yelp
Underserved Overpriced Tacos Ingredients were decent Tacos were half filled 20% Service charge included for a guy taking your order from a window

Nathaly M.

Yelp
Great food. Just taste something and keep walking. Or they have a little patio. The asador torta was delish!

Chris B.

Yelp
Not sure why it doesn't rate higher, you just order from window. I had brisket taco, was damn good. Little patio to sit with view of rainy street. not much to go wrong.

Lauren A.

Yelp
My husband and I ordered tacos and the service was awful. We were greeted by an extremely rude man with red hair and glasses who seemed annoyed that we even were ordering food. The food was mediocre at best. Won't come back.

Ding Dong D.

Yelp
rainey street sucks but this place is worth it. damn good food, plenty of seating, and a nice break from the surrounding permanent shit show. don't blow it nerd
