The 13 Best Restaurants In Asbury Park - The Infatuation

"Like all great Shore spots, Asbury Park has a number of ice cream and candy shops, and many are exactly what you’d expect. And sure, their treats will cool you down or satisfy your sweet tooth after a hot day on the beach or a greasy handful of boardwalk fries. But if you’re looking for something a bit different—or something vegan—Bettie’s serves some of the area’s best frozen desserts in their fresh fruit ice pops and shave ice.  We’re partial to the ice pops—the flavors rotate a bit, but the coconut and peach are among the legendary favorites. While the brick-and-mortar location in Conventional Hall is the easiest to find, you might encounter a Bettie’s food truck along the boardwalk or during events across the town.  " - Michael Sinatra

Beach Day Bliss: A Perfect Spot for Everyone! I recently visited this beautiful beach, and it truly exceeded expectations. From the moment you arrive, everything is well-organized — there's an entrance fee, ample parking, and a helpful enquiry desk to guide you. The beach is fully accessible, with wheelchair access, clean restrooms, and a shower area to freshen up after a dip in the water. Safety is clearly a priority, with beach guards actively watching over all areas. You’re welcome to bring your own mats, tents, and chairs, but there are also plenty of benches and designated seating areas to relax and take in the view. What really stood out was the lively atmosphere: there are numerous stores for shopping, food courts with a variety of options, and a spacious boardwalk perfect for a stroll. Whether you're with family, kids, or friends, this beach is clean, easy to access, and incredibly relaxing — the perfect spot to enjoy the sun, sea, and some shopping too!

My visit to the Asbury Park Boardwalk was amazing! The boardwalk has a great mix of classic charm and modern energy. I enjoyed walking along the ocean, checking out the unique shops, and grabbing some delicious food from local spots. The live music and street performers added a fun vibe, and the whole area felt clean and welcoming. It’s a perfect place to relax, people-watch, and soak in the beach town atmosphere. I can’t wait to go back!

Google
We love visiting Asbury Park for a low key beach day. The boardwalk has changed over the years, and it's been nice to see some businesses filling spaces that went empty around COVID times. The restaurant options are nice. Biggest complaint is the bathroom situation!! They have luxury apartments and rentals, expensive restaurants and the bathrooms are just bad. No air flow, often times many stalls if not all are out of toilet paper, dirty, broken doors and broken locks. Plus, you are not allowed to change in the bathrooms and there are no changing rooms offered. The largest improvement that could be done is an overhaul there!

Google
The nicest boardwalk we have ever visited. So clean and well taken care of. The people in the area are super friendly. Lots of shopping and beautiful beaches.

The sea shore is clean and the vibes around are frolic and lively. The town is also calm with sparsely spread houses, and a nice place for weekend hang out.

Google
Cute and Shante boardwalk with all the things needed for a good beach day whether it’s adult ms only or a family trip! Music at night with the stone pony right there is magical also! There’s a cute spot to hang for the kids and friends right on the boardwalk near the venue :)

Yelp
Another great spot that might blow you away is Ashbury Park Boardwalk. Nice boardwalk with some fishing rods and good restaurants. One of the best i have seen anywhere. Its best to come here in late Spring to early and mid summer.

Yelp
- $10 beach admission per adult, kids 12 and under are free with paying adult - Much cleaner than your average beach - Shoreline lined with small mussel shells - Extremely busy; sandy sea of people and umbrellas - Street parking: spots are available here and there if you arrive early up until around 10a, after that, GOOD LUCK!

Yelp
My home away from home so I won't say anything bad about the Asbury Park Boardwalk. It's got an energy unlike any other Jersey Shore boardwalk. I even love it in the Winter. It's constantly evolving and yet, the vibe is still the same. Fun, fun, fun. Ok...I'll say one thing I don't like...the parking in the Peak Season is high af!!!

Yelp
This boardwalk has really changed since I came here about 5 years ago. There are so many more restaurants, shops, and luxury condos here now. The artwork on the boardwalk is stunning and creative. We enjoyed walking along the boardwalk in the afternoon and early evening. There weren't too many people around and it was overall a nice experience.
google avatar

Yelp
Greta boardwalk with awesome food places and shops. Amazing artwork that flows from each end of the boardwalk and spectacular views.

Yelp
My favorite beach in Jersey so far ( have only gone as far as sea side heights). The beach is so flat with miles of boardwalk that connects to other beaches. Plenty of bathrooms and $6 for entrance children under 12 go free. Puckers probably have one of the best fries and lemonade. Great place for runners and walkers. There's a small water park for kids, few restaurants and permanent food stands. Great place to relax in the sun

Yelp
Long known as a destination for music history buffs and architecture fans, Asbury Park has become an unlikely cultural hub on the Jersey Shore. Asbury Park's pristine shoreline offers a perfect setting to relax, read a book, or take a dip in the ocean. Beach chairs and umbrellas are available for rent throughout the beach. Rental fees vary from $10-$15 each, depending on the day of the week Bored? then venture to the Boardwalk for a diverse culinary experience. Grab a mouthwatering burger from the famous The Speakeatery, a Korean taco from MOGO, or indulge in fresh seafood at Langosta Lounge. I would definitely suggest Mogo restaurant and it has another branch nearby on Cookman Avenue. No trip to the boardwalk is complete without seeing the circa 1920s Convention Hall Grand Arcade, located at 1300 Ocean Avenue. Inside Convention Hall, you'll find the Paramount Theater, another historic Asbury Park landmark, as well as an assortment of cute gift shops, Asbury Park Roastery, an oyster bar, and the Anchor's Bend, an oceanfront bar and grill. As the sun begins to set, head to one of the many live music venues that make Asbury Park a renowned music destination, and on the day I visited, it was planned too. One can enjoy the bike ride from Belmar, enjoying the scenic route north along Ocean Avenue through Avon, Bradley Beach, and Ocean Grove. Parking is a pain, good luck with finding parking spots on weekends.

Yelp
Love Asbury Park all year long! Great beach for the summer! Lots of murals to enjoy all year long. There are featured art installations throughout the year! There is always something new to enjoy here! Variety of restaurants to enjoy cocktails and food! You can enjoy your typical boardwalk treats ice cream and funnel cakes! During the summer. Metered street parking. Public bathrooms available.

Yelp
Recently visited Asbury Park Boardwalk with some friends and we had a great time! The boardwalk is pretty well maintained, making it a pleasant place to take a stroll. We went on a Saturday so it was crowded but not overly so. There's ample street parking nearby, but be prepared to pay as parking is not free. The beach itself is also a great place to lounge and spend the day but I wouldn't recommend it for swimming as it can get pretty choppy and there are some rocks in the area. Note that you'll also have to purchase a daily beach pass to utilize the beach. There are public restrooms conveniently located around the boardwalk. Food and drink options are also available but the food was nothing to write home about. All in all, it's a solid place to relax by the beach!

Yelp
PROS: This boardwalk reminds me of Point pleasant, Coney Island, and Wildwood. lots of stores, games, and restaurants. during the day it's very peaceful and no crazy people. very clean and family oriented CONS: The only thing this boardwalk is missing would be rides. Other boardwalks have them but not this one OVERALL: Definitely a boardwalk to come and see. Great for memories with families. Despite no rides they do have mini golf
google avatar

Ilene S.

Yelp
Nice size boardwalk though not a lot of shops or activities as south Jersey beaches beautiful beach Great stores
google avatar

Mike J.

Yelp
Nice night to be out on the boardwalk as a nice warm breeze is very enjoyable and comfortable this evening. I am sure being 90ish degrees is a factor to that. The waves are racing as I see several still sitting out on the beach at 10pm. The boardwalk is crowded but not like mid afternoon crowded. Hotels around look like they getting activity. Even before Memorial day weekend gets here. A lot of eatery places are open now but I expect more come Memorial day weekend. Ice cream line is very long. Nice evening for a boardwalk stroll.
google avatar

Yelp
Nope. The only good thing that ever came from here was Bruce. I find it repulsive to charge for parking at night off season when people are opening their wallets to over priced food. I got a 50 ticket for parking near moonstruck restaurant after 8 pm. I mean as a New Yorker even we can park for free in the evening If you live this close to a real city like ny .. take the hour it takes to get there and spend your money wisely. The city of Asbury park should be ashamed of itself. You are not worthy of charging huge fines in a one horse town

Yelp
It's easy to romanticize Asbury Park New Jersey now that trendy restaurants and gleaming new housing spires line Ocean and Cookman Avenues replacing the bombed out hellscape that existed there as little as 25 years ago. In fact, Bruce Springsteen's "My City in Ruins" was as close as the town fathers ever came to a travel and tourism slogan. Now the joint is a hipster habitrail and regentrified to the gills as a beachfront playground with the surrounding real estate, no matter how blighted, just too valuable to go for very long without a massive infusion of redevelopment cash. Now the Boardwalk teems on Summer weekends with special events, concert series and enough new age restauranteurs to make reservations as hard to get as my high school prom date. In a startling development Madame Marie, the famed boardwalk fortune teller, only takes Bitcoin. Of course in certain parts of town where the happy shiny people never go, crushing poverty, dead-end schools and rampant crime still punctuates the darkness but unfortunately, that depressing duality exists in most urban centers. That being said, the transformation has been remarkable, almost as remarkable as Mr. Springsteen's transition from working class troubadour to a $5,000 per seat hedge-fund holograph. Both are a sight to behold. Come on down to Asbury Park... tell them "The Boss" sent you.

Yelp
I have been going to Asbury Park for years, the growth is unbelievable. Restaurants, bars, shops etc have been added. The area closest to the beach has a newer hotel, apartments, condos and plenty of parking. The boardwalk compliments the bustling Main Street area which has seen explosive growth. The convention center with the theater, restaurants and shops is still a main attraction.
google avatar

Yelp
A paradise for beach and food lovers. Very well maintained and safe with lots of food option. They have a water park for the little ones, arcade, shops. Broadwalk is really nice and good length. The beach was not over packed..A play area for kids is great addition. Highly recommend this place... we loved the different paintings we saw as we walked down the broad-walk, such talent.

Yelp
I visited here a few times this summer. I enjoyed the boardwalk and trying so many different types for foods. They have Alot of available parking and it's easy to pay with your phone and head straight to the board walk.
google avatar

Yelp
It's been a long since I've been down to the shore here. Years and years and it has definitely changed for the better. Very vibrant and great summer vibe even though it wasn't summer. Plenty of restaurants, bars, music venues all along the main street. Parking was metered and easy to find. Also it allowed me to park multiple hours which was nice. I will definitely be back more often to spend the day here.
google avatar

Stephanie C.

Yelp
I love Asbury and have been coming here for a few years. Whether you're here for a beach day or to hangout on the boardwalk there's always something to do. Lots of dining options on the boardwalk. Watermark is my favorite place for drinks. They have some cute shops too
google avatar

Brian R.

Yelp
A friend of mine said that this boardwalk was cleaned up recently. I went to check it out and had a great time. You can pay for parking and get beach passes at the stand, but it is likely easier and cheaper if you use the necessary apps. The boardwalk isn't huge, so you can walk from one side to the other without going too far. There are a lot of restaurants. There is some art, theatre, a splash park snd more. I couldn't help but notice that there was only 2 places to buy clothes and souvenirs. The vegan food options is what really impressed me. Being that this is the closest boardwalk to me, I will definitely be going back more regularly.

Yelp
There are so many beaches in jersey shore and asbury park is one of the good ones around . Belmar , point pleasant and so many others . I like the boardwalk and shops around . Lots of places to eat and drink. Beach is good , especially in the evenings and sunset ! Parking is the worst thing here .. sometimes , we had to walk about a mile for parking spots . Even with paid parkings it's crowdeddddd . If not for parking , this is a 5 spot . Overall a good experience though ...
google avatar

Marina S.

Yelp
Love this boardwalk! Very clean and usually not too crowded. There is an artistic vibe to the whole place. There are plenty of restaurants and a few unique shops. It doesn't feel like a typical Jersey Shore boardwalk, which is what I like. The beach itself is also pretty great. The beach is not free in the summer.
google avatar

Delvia W.

Yelp
Tried this beach because they have eateries. All the pay booths to purchase day pass don't take cash and you must download an app. So Frustrating! Beach overall was ok. Bathrooms were dated. They were trailers. We will stay at Belmar Beach and pack our own food and drinks.
google avatar

Que B.

Yelp
Haven't been here in about 10 years the place has definitely upgraded since then. BeAutiful boardwalk a lot of places to eat. Food truck area which was my favorite. $9.00 to get on the beach by ticket through application or machine on the boardwalk.

Yelp
Being a person from a coastal state in India, settling down in a coastal state in the US and checking out different beaches is like homecoming. This beach is one of my several favorites that is vast and clean. The parking is not too far away but is paid. The beach has an iconic boardwalk that has a variety of shops and people from all walk of age walking and jogging. At the farther end is an abandoned and locked building that has some beautiful and colorful murals. Sit and watch flock of seagulls fighting over a meal and the Canadian geese that are busy prepping up for the breeding season.
google avatar

Yelp
This is definitely one of our favorite beaches to come visit and spend the day! I mean it's perfect for a summer day, whether alone, as a couple or group of friends! They have a beautiful boardwalk, long and spacious and with lots of beautiful art along the way and a few great eating and drinking spots! You don't have to worry to come to the beach empty handed, all you need is your blanket/chair and towel! Everything else you can get on the boardwalk, snacks, treats, coffee shop, juices/smoothies, food and drinks (including alcoholic beverages). They also have a playground area for kids to play in down the boardwalk. As for parking there are street public parking with meters, pay about $2 an hour and they also have some paid parking lots, which are a bit more expensive, as you can imagine for convenience.
google avatar

Sarah W.

Yelp
My very favorite boardwalk to visit in New Jersey. It's pretty clean these days, people are friendly, family friendly, shops, restaurants and places to eat. You can't beat it! Also one of the most diverse areas at the Jersey Shore. Gay friendly.
google avatar

Neha B.

Yelp
Asbury Park is such a fun weekend getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. Waves crashing, the smell of salt in the air and the serenity are all the perks of the beach. We went on a stormy day so unfortunately I did not go for a dip in the water but it was still a great time. The boardwalk is well kept and there are tons of restaurants, bars, mini stalls and shops to check out. Asbury Park also has a ton of concerts throughout the summer. One thing to keep in mind is there is an admission to enter the water until 5pm. There are several parking spots available around the premises and parking is metered by the hour. Take a break from the city and have a beachy weekend

Yelp
Really awesome beach! So clean and a great place for families to go. This was my first time coming to this beach with my daughter, sister and her boyfriend. The drive down was really fun but the hunting for a parking spot was a bit difficult though, we ended up having to park like 3 long blocks away because the time we went, everyone seemed to be there. This beach is all about gay pride and being proud of who you are, so if you're a family that is uncomfortable being around gay people, this beach isn't for you. The beach was so clean, and everyone just seemed so much friendlier at this beach compared to other beaches in Jersey I have been to. It costs money to go on the beach, but if you had a military ID- it was free admission, which is pretty cool. There are so many different restaurants and bars on the boardwalk to choose from and across the street while we were down there, there was a huge dance party event going on that was blasting music and seemed to be a really fun party. All types of people come here and of all ages. My daughter loved building sand castles and playing in the water. I would definitely come back next summer.

Benjamin S.

Yelp
I cant swim and i get it hurricane berly or how ever you spell is probably what's causing all the wind i just dont get that you cant swim after 5pm

Yelp
Founded in 1871 as a world class beach resort, Asbury Park is back with renewed energy and has now become a must visit destination to the Jersey Shore which my partner's family and I came yesterday. We went on a weekday and parking was easy. There was a good selection of waterfront restaurants with both indoor and outdoor seatings. Other attractions range from pinball--one of the largest assortments anywhere in the country--to mini-golf. Not a long boardwalk but it's very active with walkers, runners and at times bicyclists. Like any beaches, it will be more packed on weekends and on those hot and humid days. This has been one of our go-to beaches close for us North Jerseyans. The closer to the convention hall where there are indoor shops around 5th Avenue is louder with the crowd and music. The iconic Stone Pony was home to music legends like Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi as they started their extraordinary journeys to fame. It is worth a visit which we can recommend it.
google avatar

Lourdes M.

Yelp
It is a short boardwalk by Jersey shore but seems long because of what it all offers. First , the epic Paramount theater built near the boardwalk which held numerous Bruce Springsteen concerts is a sight to see from outside. Definitely a beauty inside. The convention hall located in the boardwalk center must have been filled up with guests during events prior Covid. The available various restaurants and shops along the walk that conveniently accessible to the public are limitless despite the current restriction and distancing due to Covid. The public beach itself which by the way is for a fee admission located on the popular known Jersey shore line has such a magnificent ocean view and pristine sand. Murals and arts are captivating. A good spot to visit whenever you are in town.

Yelp
Who doesn't like the beach! It doesn't matter which one but I am pleased every time I go. I regret that I don't go more often. So peaceful.... The sounds of the waves, the water hitting the jetty, the vastness of the ocean, watching the ships and boats and wonder where they are going or where they are coming from, and where are they in the realm of things.... Being at the beach just makes my mind wander and free... I was "sleeping " and turned around to find a feathered fella about 3 feet away from me checking out my picnic basket! What the hell was he looking for lol! That cracked me up haha And of course I like the stroll around on the boardwalk and stuff my face with fries with salt and vinegar, or a funnel cake that I only eat two bites of before I get sick of it! Or the fried Oreo's pizza and everything else lol! I like this beach bc they also have a dog beach. One time I went and let my beautiful precious English bulldog off the leach and he took off running, like a BULLET Lmaoooooo he was so cute but I was also scared bc I thought I was gonna lose him! I couldn't believe how FAST he was! Never underestimate those dogs! They might seem like a lazy fat breed, but far from it, all muscle and strength those guys are! I digress.... Yes... Love the beach!

Yelp
It was a very nice day in Asbury today. There was a Lobster Race going on, not real lobsters, but people running or walking a 5K to raise money to help protect and restore the shore. There was a band playing on the boardwalk. There were some places to eat on the boardwalk, but not everything was open yet. This is one of the beaches on the Jersey Shore that dogs are permitted on the boardwalk during the off-season. The Asbury off-season is Sept. 15- May 15. Sunset Lake Memorial Park is two blocks from the boardwalk. It's a tribute to the men and women of Asbury Park who served in their country's Armed Forces in time of war. You need to pay for parking on the street year-round, but parking lots are free off season.
google avatar

Kristin S.

Yelp
Anyone who appreciates natural views and historic architecture will be delighted. The boardwalk is safe and is in great condition. We enjoyed an early morning stroll from Ocean Grove to Asbury Park and back. Along the way, I found a great cup of coffee to warm my hands in the chilly October air. There are art installations and murals to enjoy. Lots of friendly people are out walking their dogs. A very changed scene from 20 years ago!

Yelp
Up until a couple of years ago, the only thing I knew about Asbury Park was its association with Bruce Springsteen. Recently, however, I've been hearing that Asbury Park has become a hot spot summer destination - especially after being rebuilt due to the destruction of Hurricane Sandy. All of my travel plans were cancelled this year because of the pandemic, so as things have been reopening I've been making the most of it by doing local things and day trips. That being said, I took this opportunity to take a little drive to Jersey and check out Asbury Park. I wasn't looking to sit on the beach, just to walk the boardwalk and see whatever else I could in the area. I arrived around 11am, and while it didn't seem crowded most parking close to the boardwalk was filled. I eventually found a spot though, and made my way up 4th Ave to one of the entrances. I noticed a lot of new construction on the boardwalk, especially in the surrounding buildings and in the actual promenade. Still though, there's a lot of original architecture and they still seem to be working on a lot - if it's residual from Sandy I'm not sure, but I did notice construction going on. In terms of attractions, typical boardwalk fare - a combination of sit-down restaurants and walk-up food stands, some gift shops, a fortune teller, etc. From what I could see, the beach looks clean. They're controlling crowds on the beach by only selling a certain number of passes a day - and they have staff at each entry point to make sure you're not on the beach without one. Something that disturbed me about the boardwalk was that mask compliance was terrible. Yes, there are signs that state masks must be worn while on the boardwalk, but there is no enforcement of it. Because of that, the majority of people I encountered were not wearing masks. Perhaps it's because I'm from NY and am used to strict enforcement of masks, but I was disappointed to see this. It wasn't too crowded so I was able to social distance, but as soon as the attendance grew I split. Overall, the beach looked nice but I didn't find anything too special about the Asbury Park Boardwalk. Yes, the history - and yes, the music venues - and yes, the Boss. However, I wouldn't drive 90 minutes from NYC just to go to the beach here. Don't get me wrong, Asbury Park itself is a lovely city - but for a day trip, you're better off taking a quick stroll on the boardwalk (with your mask on) and then spending the rest of your time downtown.

Yelp
Had been my favorite NJ shore beach to go to for the past 3 summers including this one. I've seen many changes over the past years coming to Asbury. I like to go to Asbury because the beach is so close to the boardwalk. There are many food options from storefronts like Stella Marina and Watermark to small tin box food spots like MOGO, Hoagitos etc There are plenty of metered and parking lot choices but unfortunately as Asbury is growing - so is the crowd . Weekends are tough and crowded. Memorial Day thru Labor Day -you need to purchase beach passes. $5/ day Some days that have riptides- the life guards and Asbury Police are super strict with getting in the water past your ankles . For the most part - the beach is clean. Some nights they have Bon fires
google avatar

Hannah Paige M.

Yelp
Took the train down from NYC to visit. While this spot is beautiful and full of attractions, it is impossible to do anything without feeling ripped off. $10 to get on the beach, $40-$50 for parking, and sit-down restaurants are more expensive than Manhattan. Very touristy, which isn't my vibe. Probably a great place for families to entertain their kids for several hours (and several hundred dollars...yikes)

Yelp
Loving AP, it's clean, parking is convenient and reasonably priced out of all the beaches that I have been to. Have been so many times that it's hard to count. Food is good, boardwalk is clean. Really nice beach for families. I love that since Coronavirus the beach is not overly crowded and people are spaced out and respectful in your space. I've had nothing but good experience at Asbury Park.

Colleen C.

Yelp
Love the boardwalk at Asbury Park! My hubby and I go there to people watch, shop, have a cocktail or two and then have dinner. Don't miss the Silverball Arcade - lots of fun!! Friendly atmosphere for all. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Hard to navigate and figure out parking etc. Rude lifeguards. Was a nice beach overall.

Yelp
I had to go to Asbury Park boardwalk to recreate the famous sopranos "dream scene!" It was really cool to see Tillie at the wonder bar. I love the nostalgia of Asbury park boardwalk. In the theater building they have stores for shopping. There are a bunch of restaurants and a cool arcade called silver ball. It was cool seeing the Stone pony where Bruce Springsteen started.
google avatar

Kimberly S.

Yelp
Really love this beach and boardwalk area... perfect for a day trip. Plenty of parking and reasonably priced at $2.00 an hour or there are lots also that offer daily rates. My favorite thing about the metered parking is if you have the ParkMobile app you can add more time to the meter without going back to the car. I never know how long I want to stay and this is so convenient instead of overpaying for no reason. Beach passes very reasonable too, only $5pp weekday or $7pp weekends and they also have convenient restrooms to use. Plenty of boardwalk food options like pizza, tacos, fries, burgers, hotdogs, lemonade and of course ice cream. Also great sit down restaurants on the boardwalk where you can dine inside or alfresco. Everything was really clean, no smoking on the beach and all of the patrons and employees were very friendly. I hope to return again soon...

Yelp
Absolutely great beach with lots of fun shops and restaurants! Perfect way to spend the day with the family.

Yelp
"not very popular... quite...calm... less crowded..." This beach is not quite popular like point pleasant but less crowd is itself a bliss, isn't it? The boardwalk is clean and calm. 2-3 pubs are quite popular here and I can see these pubs are crowded even on a weekday. Both ends of the boardwalk have old building and architecture of the building is quite amazing. Beach is too not crowded much One can have relaxed day at the beach without disturbance Worth a visit.

Yelp
When I was a kid my family spent a week ever summer at Asbury Park, enjoying the beach and boardwalk. The boardwalk was always packed. I don't know what happened, but by the time got to college age the place had become a ghost town. Everything was closing on and around the boardwalk. I'm so glad to see that Asbury Park is finally making a comeback. Although not as crowded as it used to be, the people are coming back and places are opening up on the Boardwalk. There is still a lot of work to be done, but its a nice clean Beach & Boardwalk, with restaurants, bars and even a concert hall on the Boardwalk. And of course right next to the Boardwalk is the famous Stone Pony music venue where Bruce Springsteen got his start. I look forward to the day I see this Boardwalk as packed as it used to be during my childhood.

Yelp
Sparse crowds, quiet, clean beach, and a long, safe boardwalk make Asbury Park a winter New Jersey shore destination for me. In years past a production of the Nutcracker was produced at the Paramount Theater but this year the theater was quiet. During the winter Convention Hall hosts various events including a holiday bazaar with a Beer fest. McCloonie's Grille and the Asbury Oyster Bar is where I would eat after a long walk on the boardwalk and beach. At other times, I would go over to Cookman Avenue for lunch or dinner for a greater selection and cheaper prices. The Stone Pony which is just off the boardwalk is where the Boss (Bruce Springsteen) would play at night, as well as, the E-Street band. In later years the Wonder Bar would be my watering hole of choice. People would come just to play the "Silver Ball" at the Silverball Museum and Arcade. It is still a major attraction. Parking is free during the winter months but above all else I liked the quiet laid back atmosphere as I walked the white clean sand beach and boardwalk in winter. This year I walked the boardwalk with a mask in my pocket in the event I had to approach a crowd that never materialized. I did not eat or have a drink in Asbury Park this year but I really enjoyed that walk on the boardwalk, odd as it may seem to others.

Yelp
This was a great weekend getaway for me - and convenient too from Manhattan. The beach surprisingly wasn't too busy for a long weekend but no complaints from me!

Yelp
Fun place to be in if you're looking for some activities and the ocean temperature isn't up to snuff for swimming. I went on MDW for the first time just to get a vibe. For one, no one was swimming in the ocean, but there were plenty of people on the beach just chillin out, enjoying the playgrounds, or playing volleyball/football. It seems like the township spent some good money revamping the boardwalk post-Sandy. The boardwalk is clean and wide enough for people to walk in and out. There's a ton of shops all along the boardwalk which is pretty nice to see too. As you may know, the boardwalk extends to the Convention Hall. With the new condos and hotels about to pop up in the near future, I wonder if the township will also spend enough money to preserve this historical monument. All in all, a pretty good beach to come to if you're looking for fun and sun. We'll have to see when the water warms up to get a better assessment!
