Stanzione 87 Announces its Sudden Closure | Eater Miami

"Diners can still find Franco Stanzione's popular pies at Ash Pizza Parlor at the Citadel, where he offers unique takes on Neapolitan pizzas with more untraditional toppings; he also hinted at possibly revisiting the popular sandwich concept he debuted during the pandemic. In the meantime he is consulting with pizzerias around the country and throughout the Caribbean and exploring other business ventures, and says he is "not super rushed to open anything new right away" because the market is tough while he looks for the right location and time to make a move." - Olee Fowler

Google
Pizza was super fresh and authentic ! Dough was very tasty and you can tell they use high quality ingredients. Staff was very friendly and attentive! Would definitely come back for more 🍕

Stephen Michael Fox J.

Google
Delicious authentic Neapolitan pizza. Thin dough, wet sauce under the toppings. Baked perfectly. Add it to your pizza rotation, you won’t regret it.

Jasmin

Google
Solid pizza, great atmosphere with a bunch of different restaurants inside. Ample seating. Would purchase again.

Guille L.

Google
I ordered a pepperoni pizza, and I specifically told them, not to add too much pepperoni. Moreover, crust is burned. I think this place has a great potential, just need better staff.

Andrea C.

Google
loved the new square pizzas, they’re only available in the shoma location tho! but all pizzas are great, def coming back!

Larry T.

Google
I have had pizza here 3 times. Staff are friendly and they appear to keep a clean and organized kitchen. Unfortunately the dough is possibly the worst I’ve ever had. Unevenly cooked, gum line and VERY chewy. I understand it is Neapolitan style so it won’t have a crispy crust, but last time I had it the dough was so chewy I could barely swallow it. The sauce has good flavor and the cheese and toppings were great. The dough needs to be addressed. They have great potential if they can figure that out.

Adam S.

Google
Complete literal hit or miss. 50% of the time good. 50% of the time. They are out of cheese ( I swear this is true ) and they open late all the time. Management is a mess at this place. The last Emi Came they actually had no sauce also. The last three times I tried no cheese twice and no sauce once. Like it’s really bad. Like how can a pizza place 65% of the time not have shredded cheese or sauce for pizza. They sell nothing else. They make nothing else. Crazy They have one nice employee. Wish I knew his name. The rest meh. Many speak literally zero English.

Jose T.

Google
Burnt pizza and burnt bread. Taste horrible, don't know how this place has 4 stars. You guys are legit greifing. Little ceasar is better.
google avatar

Yelp
Well, we tried. We were big fans of the Brickell location. This is a much different feel all around from ambience to the pizza itself. Happy to report the kale salad is still the same.
google avatar

Yelp
I really don't like leaving bad reviews but... Wow! Seems like the owner left a group of kids that don't know what they're doing taking care of the business. After 20 minutes waiting they announce me that they don't have the ingredients for my pizza, so I could change it, not only that but spent $40 total including a burned pizza with half ingredients. Such a shame, I'm a neighbor and used to get good pizza from this place. Today was unacceptable.
google avatar

Jose T.

Yelp
I have really only had one pie at Ash pizza parlor and for a good reason. The truffle shuffle is deheeeliccious ! The dough is light with a nice fluff, the use of different cheeses gives the flavor layers, and to top it off some truffle oil. Yes, I am writing this and want a bite right now !

Yelp
Went to this place located in the citadel and ordered a large pepperoni pizza. Staff was very nice and the pizza was fresh, but a bit salty. The crust was nice and crunchy. I will order from here again, but minus the pepperoni because that's what I think made it a bit salty.
google avatar

Yelp
Love this pizza shop located within The Citadel. They have a good variety of options and even vegan options. I got the small Margherita and was enough to fill me up and a +1. Customer service was amazing too!
google avatar

Yelp
This was a good choice for a snack/late lunch. Closer to 3 1/2 stars. I ordered their margherita pizza -- which is basically a plain cheese individual size pizza. It was comparatively reasonable at $10 although tips start on their payment screen at 18%...so I way overtipped. You order and pay at their cash register. They take credit cards only. They don't give you a receipt or anything...just tell you to come back in 5 minutes. It was closer to 10+ minutes til it was ready. But it did look quite good when it was ready. Puffy and well cooked in their oven. And tasted decently, too, for what it was. It was supposed to have basil on it, but there was only one tiny piece. And it definitely should have had more cheese on it. So decent but not very exciting. I don't think I'd order it again, but it is the best option for kids if you bring them here.
google avatar

Kathleen M.

Yelp
Unevenly put together, 2 pieces of basil and excessive amount of cheese. I added garlic oil and that made it better but I'd probably not return. Forgettable
google avatar

Kelly R.

Yelp
I was a little disappointed after trying this place out, I heard many good things but I did not like the pizza at all. The pizza had a really strange flavor and hardly any cheese, unfortunately I wouldn't try them again
google avatar

C G.

Yelp
This place is a fraud! They advertise as wood fired pizza when there is a propane tank fired oven! Don't be fooled!!! Go in person and see for yourselves!! Never again!
google avatar

Phoenix 7.

Yelp
Service was off. I believe it was the owner. Asked a question about the mask policy as I didn't know what whether to have it on or off. Is response was that he was vaccinated and was apart. The order, I asked for basil, oregano, extra oil. I have two pieces of oregano. Asked for it well done. It came out soggy. Don't know what happened to this place. Highly don't recommend. Didn't appreciate the extra attitude.
google avatar

Nash W.

Yelp
Very good pizza! I had a small Evil Knievel and it was just enough for myself. The staff was extremely helpful though limited English... which is no problem for me. I will return to try other pizzas for sure!
google avatar

Jacqueline T.

Yelp
Very impressed! Didn't think their pizza would be good but it was delicious. They have different type of menu items such as the proper carbonera. Which I've never had but now it makes me want to have an actually carbonera. It was that good! We even waited to long to eat it and it got cold and it was still delicious! Would definitely go back to get it again. The only downside is that they are personal pizzas. So they're not really meant to be shared unless you're not really hungry and can share it with someone else.
google avatar

Brian L.

Yelp
As someone already noted I will confirm this is NOT a wood shed oven, and therefore that flavor profile is not there. The dough is nothing special, and things are average. Grumpy guy working and eating while preparing your food is disgusting. I was the only one there yet it took over 30mins to get a pie cooked up. One and done.
google avatar

Real O. G.

Yelp
It's good. There are better pizza places in Miami. I had heard a lot of hype about this place. I was disappointed in the Margherita. It was OK, not great. A bit too-doughy and thick for my taste. It is pricey!
google avatar

Alfredo H.

Yelp
This place is inside the Citadel food hall which is a very nice place to have drinks and have comfort food, the pepperoni pizza was excellent and bursting with flavor. The only thing I found very tacky from them is that if you ask for some parmesano cheese they want to charge you $2.00 for a small plastic container, that's the very first time I have seen a pizzeria do that and for that reason I couldn't give them the fifth star.
google avatar

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Ooey gooey delicious pizza!! That's how I would describe Ash. We got the Evel Knievel Pizza and I don't know about you guys but I like my pepperoni crispy and that's exactly what I got. A crunch with every bite. Reminds me of an extra crispy bacon on Sunday mornings. The cheese was super gooey and melty. Just the right amount of sauce. The crust was crispy. Just an overall great experience! They have 10 inches or 14 inches. Perfect for sharing!

Luisa G.

Yelp
I got 3 small meatballs they charged 10 dollars. The pizza was the ti I Edy medium I have ever seen and so messy. That was more than 15 dollars

Yelp

Yelp
Ate here for the first time last weekend. We ordered the carbonara pizza and it was really yummy. The crust is the right amount of soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The topping made for a really delicious pizza. Not too much sauce the cheese and bacon were just right. I would have however liked a little more thickness of the dough in the muddle of the pizza. Some parts just felt like it was cheese - which might be what some people love, but personally i like a little more dough. I'm looking forward to coming here again and trying their margarita pizza!

Ricardo M.

Yelp
Look the Citadel is what it Is. Sometimes hit or miss. But today Ash pizza was spot on. The evil Knievel was awesome. Fresh and just the right amount of spice. Good stuff and highly recommend.
google avatar

Bianca R.

Yelp
Visited Citadel for the first time today, I know I'm super behind on the trend. Anyways, this is was one of the many spots inside. This little spot has a pretty good menu but I was in the mood for a plain Jane margherita pizza. I was not at all disappointed. Their pizzas are Italian style, so thin and crispy, just how I like it. The pizza was ready within 5 minutes, that was a huge bonus. I would definitely visit again and try another pizza off their menu. Delicioso!

Yelp
This place is so bomb! And the people are so cool! Highly recommend the Carbonara and the Nancy Sinatra! Yumm! My friend and I both agreed that the Carbonara was literally the best pizza we've ever had. If you're looking for a Red, I recommend the Evel Knievel pie. The dough is light and scrumptious. I'm not typically a "crust" guy but I couldn't leave any scraps on my plate. Can't wait to be back!

Yelp
Let me preface this by saying that I live in NYC and am spoiled regularly by exceptional pizza daily. With that said- I love Stanzione and when I heard they were opening up a new spot in the Miami area I was very excited to try. Ash is actually located inside the Citadel, the newest food hall to hit Miami. But for a food hall- these pizzas made to order come out QUICK! And even though the pizzas are quick the atmosphere of the place is nice so that you feel you can chill out and linger a bit. Perfect for a week night or a Sunday afternoon. And now for the fun part- here's what we tried and loved: The Nancy Sinatra- If you are a Garlic Bread lover, (which honestly who isn't?) this pizza will blow your mind. This white pie has pecorino, ricotta, garlic and I think rosemary? I was in a serious pizza induced coma so I can't remember for sure. But honestly- DON'T MISS THIS. The truffle pizza is just the right amount of umami and not truffle OVERkill as so many truffled items are these days....totally perfect. And while I have never had a truly BAD pepperoni slice, the Ash pepperoni pie is so insanely delicious it is enough to make you question why we ever deviate from the old standby hero that is 'roni in the first place. Seriously, this was SO good. Also, insanely photogenic- I caught at least 3 other patrons who were photographing their Ash pizza for the 'gram. Which made me think- is Ash pizza the next instagram food wunderkind? I wouldn't be surprised.

Yelp
The Citadel is great and this is the best place in there without a doubt. Have been a big fan of Stanzione 87 in Brickell for years, and am happy to see that they've expanded to a different market in Miami. If you like cool places, and you like pizza, then head over to the Citadel and get yourself an Ash pie ASAP. Great variety and the pizzas come out very quickly. You won't be disappointed.

Andy S.

Yelp
We've ordered from Ash four or five times. The first couple times went smoothly, but it has been downhill ever since. Our last order for pick-up resulted in waiting over thirty minutes AFTER the scheduled time for us to pick it up. The guy working behind the register kept telling me that their Uber Eats orders were more important and they had to get them out. Then he was unable to refund me for the part of my order that still wasn't ready. There was another customer standing there with me who was eating in the restaurant and was going through the same thing as I. His family was done eating after ordering from the other restaurants in The Citadel and he still hadn't received his pizza from Ash. Finally the manager of The Citadel refunded both of us. I ended up with half my order and the pizzas were totally cold by this point. So buyer beware. They're pizza can be really great. Really. We like it. The customer service and management, not so much. In a few months we might try again.

Morgs B.

Yelp
This is the best pizza I had in Miami! I'm Italian (from Italy, not Italian American) and this is real pizza! The order always comes super quickly, and whatever you pick, you can't go wrong. We need more delicious food like this around!
google avatar

Bryant A.

Yelp
Very good pizza...first time here and I tried the Sunday sauce, because it was Sunday. All pies are 10' personal pizzas (4 slices). I'd definitely like to try the other pies.
google avatar

John W.

Yelp
Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of my pizza. However it was good but overpriced. For a 10" pizza with pepperoni you're basically charged $12. It should be more like $8. And the build your own format charges $2 for your choice of sauce. Seems egregious. In any event I would probably try it again. The location doesn't have much parking. It's in a newer building featuring ~8 other restaurants/pop-ups, so there are plenty of options to choose from.
google avatar

Jarret S.

Yelp
Delicious, quick pizza. We ordered the marinara pizza which doesn't come with cheese. We added some parmesan to it and it was delicious. The dough was flavorful and the sauce equally as tasty.
google avatar

Sherry A.

Yelp
This is my favorite pizza in Miami! I've tried so many pizza places all across Miami and this is the most delicious. The staff is nice, the pizza comes out quickly and the taste is the BEST!! I highly recommend

Sol M.

Yelp
Pizza had no cheese and super burned. Also they all ask for tips! Tips for what? They have no service I have to get the food there. One of the worst pizzas ever

Silvia R.

Yelp
DON'T DO IT! Many times I've seen the guy making the pizza at the Citadel wiping his nose and continuing on to make the pizza without washing his hands. We took a leap of faith today and ordered the pizza via uber eats. When the uber guy got there and touched the pizza box he told them it was ice cold. They said they couldn't do anything about it and sent him away. There is no excuse. We live 3 minutes away. OH, and try calling them to find out what's going on???? there is no phone number. Save yourself the trouble.

K N.

Yelp
The "wood fired" wings are in fact deep fried. When you complain about this the staff can't seem to comprehend. Update your menu. Pizza is ok.
google avatar

Myrna G.

Yelp
Worst pizza I ever had in my life!! It was the size of a personal pizza with the price of a bigger pizza somewhere else! It was burned, greasy, salty and the pieces of meat were small and scarce!!! You lost a client.
google avatar

Katie B.

Yelp
What's not to love?! Hands down the best Neapolitan pizza in Miami. Now everyone a little further north can indulge in brickell's ongoing obsession for Stanzione 87. Wow! The citadel is the perfect, fun and casual setting for the pizzeria. Ash is truly slinging some beautiful pies, I'll always love a classic Margherita but the bang bang is killer, and I love the Geronimo too. Just try them all and get a Nutella calzone to top it off ;) enjoy!
google avatar

Alex B.

Yelp
Super impressed with Ash Pizza at The Citadel! The pizza was great. Very fresh and the sauce was Awesome!! Gotta stop by can check this out if you're in the area and have that pizza craving!

Kirill K.

Yelp
This is how they make it in Naples, Italy. The texture and flavor all spot on. I judge any pizzeria by their margherita and this one is probably the best I've had outside of Italy so far.

Vlad B.

Yelp
It's simple: this is the best pizza in town. The dough is a wood-oven-charred cloud of delight. The ingredients are top notch. And the flavor/texture combinations are on point. Plus the team is great. Highly recommend trying the rooftop OR ordering for home! It has become our friday night routine and I start thinking of these pizzas from Monday morning. Go! Eat Ash's Pizzas! You'll thank me later.

Jay F.

Yelp
It is located inside the Citadel Food Hall so we drove around a bit before finding this out. The pizza's taste good and a good personal size. It gets loud and very busy on weekends so seating can be hard to come by. There are a lot of other interesting food options in Citadel but we fell for the smell and authentic looking Pizza's
google avatar

Cristina V.

Yelp
The food is good, and the staff is great. The cashier helped explain the pizzas on the menu, as well as custom options. The customer before me was very rude to the cashier (and appears to have left a bad review here), but the cashier still took the time to go above and beyond to provide me great service. My family enjoyed their personal pizzas made with great ingredients. They don't accept cash, and prices are comparable to other restaurants at the Citadel.
google avatar

Kathy L.

Yelp
Great pizza! The good ol'Margharita pizza is a must and loved the carbonara one as well! The service is great and the portion is just right!
google avatar

Ti S.

Yelp
Suuuper delicious pizza delicious sauce and crust but more on the burnt side next time I will ask not so well done.
google avatar

Eros A.

Yelp
Sorry guys, this pizza has all the right ingredients but failed to deliver, especially the dough. You know a good pizza when you devour every bit, crust and crumbs too (unfortunately, there was no savory temptation to eat the crust this time).

Shigeo Y.

Yelp
Wow, Ash Pizza Parlor was excellent. Clean, vibe is cool. Pretty much every thing that we have ordered was extremely fresh and yummy. Workers are extremely friendly and service is very quick. Ash Pizza Parlor... Period.

Al X.

Yelp
Stay away from this pizza place. First, they don't accept cash. Second, you can't get a receipt, not even for a refund. Finally, when your order is ready, they don't call a name or anything. Instead they leave it sitting on a counter so everyone in line to order can hover over it. They tried to give me a margherita pizza that was sitting on the counter when I first ordered. I was watching the whole time. They offered to make me another, but with the crappiest attitude. My experience with them was unfortunately bad all around. I have no idea how people like this stay in business. I guess the surrounding places at Citadel allow for their survival. Good luck.

Trae T.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. Ingredients are super fresh. Great pizza and Nutella calzone was to die for

Tchad-Marie A.

Yelp
Went to The Citadel for first time this afternoon and, after not having any pizza in months, I stopped at Ash Pizza Parlor. OMG! I had The Deluxe and it was delicious with best mushrooms ever along with everything else. We were two and meant to share one pizza... we had to order a second = one pizza each. Will gladly go back.
