Ashley's Ann Arbor - Review - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Ashley’s is a craft beer pub with an excellent brew selection and some solid bar food to back it up. Hang out over beers and make sure to order a couple of the specialty fries for sharing. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

I’m hoping that our experience was due partly to the art fair but I’m pretty sure this is meant to be a bar for the college kids in town. Went in for the “lobster roll” and was VERY shocked to receive what appeared to be a couple pieces (maybe one small lobster tail worth and that’s being generous) of lobster in something the size of a hot dog bun. Asked for it hot, it was warm with cooler pieces like it had been microwaved. NOTHING CLOSE to the picture on the menu. It came with fries, which were room temp, dry pieces, stuck together that were over cooked or had been sitting under a lamp. Asked for fresh fries since the meal was $30 and received another serving of the same batch within a couple minutes (not fresh). My drink was ok but the food, never again, not for the price. This is obviously another overpriced downtown restaurant meant for drinking and maybe typical bar fare but the lobster roll was embarrassing. We didn’t make a fuss because it was hot, humid and we were very hungry but we definitely left still hungry with a bill of $100 for two appetizer size meals & one alcoholic drink and a regular drink. Ridiculous. Do not order the art fair special because all you’re getting is what seems like a bad joke. Please do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.

Google
Pre ok, not bad to snack on during trivia. The fries are good, but I’d skip the poutine it’s just soggy mush. I don’t know what wrong with me but I lowkey liked the buffalo cauliflower wrap better than the chicken. I got a soda and waiter was on top of refills 💯

I haven’t been to Ashley’s in a really long time. I used to love coming when I was in college and was down for art fair. We expected it to take a while, and imagined poor service due to it being busy. We ended up having a great waitress who handled her tables really well. What went wrong was everything else. It took an hour to get our food, which again since it was art fair we were fine with. What went bad was the food. My boyfriend got the popcorn chicken which had a basket of chicken legit the size of a single pea. Each piece of “popcorn” chicken was so teeny and burnt. He also got pretzels which were also burnt. Another table got pretzels and theirs were even more burnt. We had two kids with us and the chicken tenders were also burnt as well as the French fries. My son got a bowl of pasta and for the kids meal it only came with pasta and marinara. The container was legit a cup, so small. It was incredibly spicy even for me, so we swapped it out for buttered noodles. I got Gazpacho, and a Caesar salad. The gazpacho was so spicy, I struggled to eat it. Then the side Caesar salad was half dressed. It almost seemed like they had scooped another persons partially dressed salad onto my plate and added lettuce since the rest was plain, and came with a side of dressing. That was all we got and it took an hour. Pretzels, popcorn chicken, kids chicken tenders and fries, kids plain pasta, gazpacho and a side salad, and it came out burnt. The kids drinks weren’t in included in the price so we ended up paying almost $70 for the above. It was extremely disappointing.

Google
It was Lobster 🦞 Fest and boy were they busy!! The Lobster 🦞 was fabulous 👌! The regular menu looked great, too! Try it, you'll like it!

Google
They really ought to be ashamed for charging $28 for such a flavorless lobster roll. I also don't like my lobster rolls cold. They advertise a Japanese bun but it definitely not that.

We went on a game day. It was very busy and our server was new. Our food came out quickly but getting a beer took forever. We ordered waffle fries with bacon and ranch. We also got the poutine. Both were great but the poutine came in a little bowl. I thought it would have been larger, but it was still very tasty. The bathrooms are downstairs. They have outdoor seating. Their draft beer selection is large. I had a Carmel apple cider. It was delicious! The atmosphere is fun and easy going. It's definitely a fun place to go after a Michigan game. The manager was very nice to us and the staff was also friendly. They also have TV's everywhere.

Google
I have been coming here for about 25 years or so now. I love the selection of beer they offer here. The Stilton fries are the bomb! I brought my cousin from Florida here in 2009, he still has his Ashley’s t-shirt. Today I stopped in for some pizza.

Cathy Morris

Google
We stopped here for lunch during off hours and we really enjoyed this place. Great food and service. They offer a huge variety of Michigan made draft beers. The decor is cozy with lots of beautiful rich woods. They have a nice room available in the basement for private parties and events. I will definitely go back.

Yelp
Great service! I took a large group on a Sunday later at night & they took awesome care of us! Look closely at the selection of whiskeys & bourbons was amazing!

Yelp
One of the worst restaurant experiences I have had. We came here on a game day with a group of 8. We had an 815p reservation and were seated right away. We had to wait about 15-20 mins to get water or place our drink order which was annoying but understandable on game day. Thankfully we knew what we wanted so put our food order in as soon as we saw a waitress. We waited two hours for food. TWO HOURS. There was a series of stories of deleted order, next up, promises, a late kitchen. The food never came. When I finally at 10p got up to talk to a manager, the first response he gave me was "you didn't have a reservation - they book out months in advance ". What? Check your system buddy, we had a reservation. And since when is that the first response to a diner who has been waiting two hours for food. He then told me again I was wrong, and that there was no food ticket for two hours. What? When we eventually got our food we ate quickly and got out of there. The food itself was mediocre. The burger was the biggest hit. The steak frites were just a piece of steak sliced small, no garlic butter as advertised. The clam chowder was lukewarm. They did comp our food which was appreciated. But boy it's been a long time since a restaurant made me feel like I was an unwelcome guest. Will not be back nor would recommend this, especially with a group.

Yelp
Big oof. Came in town for a conference for lunch or for dinner, in large and in small groups. Doesn't matter. Service is very slow as they are extremely understaffed. Food and beer selections were decent - just not worth waiting 30 min to put in an order, and another 30 for the first round of beer.
google avatar

Debra W.

Yelp
We came here for trivia, and it was our first (and definitely LAST) time at Ashley's. The service? Honestly, pretty bad. I gave them the benefit of the doubt since it was busy, but still, things went downhill fast. First, the drinks. The vodka cran was basically water, and the amaretto sour was hands down the worst I've ever had. I get these all the time, and I've never had one that bad. Our whole group tasted the drinks, everyone agreed they were awful. Then, we ordered fries. My friend's were fine, but mine? Just the tiny crumbs and scraps at the bottom of the bag. If you're looking for overpriced, terrible drinks, and the slowest trivia ever (20 questions over 1-2 hours, with each question dragging on for 5 minutes), go ahead and waste your time here. Otherwise, avoid this place.

Yelp
Just left Ashley's and have to say, for a neighborhood bar downtown Ann Arbor, this place is the bomb! Very good bar food and great beers and drinks! It's busy here as this is a popular place for the locals, but a fun place to enjoy a night out in Ann Arbor! GO BLUE!

Yelp
We came here this evening after the Lions lost in the NFC championship. We were at BWW's prior - and I feel it's important but not necessary to mention that (everyone) we had 1-2 beers each before arrive at Ashley's. We came in - were greeted and ID'd by the bartender who was very friendly and served us our drinks. We joked about drowning our sorrows, and the season of the Lions. I have been here several times before where standing room at tables or bar has been the only room available. I have also been here several times at a smaller table and watched people wander around until they found a seat. So here comes the issue. My friends and I are the ONLY people at Ashley's. We are controlling the music, and we have each ordered our first and only beer. After most of us have finished or gotten close to finishing our first beer. A larger gentleman in a plaid shirt told me and a friend of mine that we both need to sit down because they do NOT allow standing room. We kind of looked at him odd, and moved to the chairs behind our girlfriends, he asked us again "did you hear me? Sit down..." At this point we kind of felt like this was ridiculous. We asked for a bit of clarification and he said that they don't allow standing in the bar, and that we were now not allowed to get any additional drinks. So, I asked for the checks for everyone, because this was crazy. After another friend of mine asked for additional information regarding why we were cut off and why were not allowed to stand, the gentleman walked away and said we were too drunk --- which again, less than 3 beers for some of us there. Not even close to tipsy. At this point he walked away and refused to speak to us. We think that he either wanted to go home early, or wanted to assert his authority.... either way --- this was NOT a good look for an establishment that I have had such a good time at previously. We all left frustrated, wanting more info, and honestly downright laughing at this one guy who took it upon himself to basically tell us, don't stand in a bar, and you've had too much. No one there was even close to the legal limit - or tolerance level. Laughable & disgusted, what a joke.

Yelp
I've been to Ashley's quite a few times and it's one of those places that never disappoints. It's a great place to grab food or drinks. This particular trip, I was just having some drinks with a friend. They had a cocktail flight. Which I have never seen at a bar before. I've obviously seen beer flights, but not cocktail flights. Of course I had to get it. I was GREAT. I highly recommend it. The bar tender was nice and helpful just a great place over all!
google avatar

Sarah C.

Yelp
Worth the trip just for the drink flights but the service is always great and awesome college vibe to this bar. Great food options for dinner or apps. Quite a variety

Yelp
We had lunch. I had the Badger burger, which is a smash burger style. Very good. The beer is always good at Ashley's. Our server was very good. The food came out quickly. And, she asked me about my empty beer glass prior to me being half way through my meal. Every time I visit Ashley's it has the college town pub feel (without being an undergraduate cheap beer place). Comfortable. We ate inside, but the outside seating was full when we left.

Yelp
Had a late night dinner the first day I arrived at Ann Arbor. Food was in pretty standard. I would not eat such food often as it contained too much fat and too little greens. The taste was Okay, though. My friends enjoyed the Korean BBQ ribs very much. The stuff seemed to be students who were doing part time job there? They seemed to know few about the restaurant, as each time we asked about the menu they went to ask someone else lol. Besides, we waited for over 40 min for the food, really impatient during the waiting!

Justin H.

Yelp
Service was great, beer was cold, Buffalo wings and popcorn chicken were excellent. Ashley's hot sauce is excellent! Would go back for sure next time we're in town, i would recommend this to others as well!

Matthew M.

Yelp
The bar has one thing and one thing above all going for it. Its very conveniently located in downtown Ann Arbor; right next to the university. The bar itself has a lot of character and history, which is really clear when you sit down. But aside from that there's really not a lot to be impressed by. They have a reasonable number of drinks but anything outside of draft isn't all that impressive. Their food is at best middling compared to what else is available in AA; lacks the imagination, taste, and fun of first rate bar food. The service also often feels apathetic. Clearly they need to be paid more by management or offered better benefits, since there is a lack of passion and enthusiasm for what should be an iconic location. Good enough but hardly worth going out of your way for.
google avatar

William R.

Yelp
The food was excellent. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. The ambiance was also great. All in all, a superb lunch was enjoyed at Ashley's.
google avatar

Kaylee L.

Yelp
Ashley's has a casual ambiance, with many different beers to try that are constantly changing. I ordered a citrus flavored one and it was good. We also tried the Soft Pretzel Sticks. The hot cheddar dip and Bavarian mustard were great, but I personally felt that the pretzels were not as thick as they are at other bars. Our server was sweet--she brought out a celebratory birthday cookie with ice cream for my brother.
google avatar

Kitty K.

Yelp
Ashley's is an Ann Arbor staple. You can always count on some delicious pub grub and a local craft favorite! It is located on State Street & Williams. The poutine is simply amazing!! It's one of our favorite spots for this Canadian dish. The cauliflower tacos are my new favorite- so delicious and filling! The brussel sprouts are cooked to perfection and another one of my go-to sides. Make sure to grab up a reservation on Open Table or you may be waiting a while for a table!
google avatar

Jude R.

Yelp
Stopped in for a pint and some pub food. Great place. Trivia was just finishing up so the place cleared out and quieted down a bit, which was perfect. We had a loaded potato appetizer and a bunch of pints. Cool place, nice atmosphere and friendly servers.
google avatar

Jessica Z.

Yelp
This place has surprisingly decent and creative bar food options. We went hungry for wings, but we decided to get a fries with it. We wanted poutine, which they were unfortunately out of, but we were able to use this opportunity to try something new - masala curry fries. Our very friendly and kind server told us that these were really underrated, so we got them to taste and they were really good! The curry wasn't very evenly spread, but there was enough to go around and even used as dip. We also got their buffalo wings, and they were pretty tender and were covered in sauce. I wish they had more, as we only got 6 wings with 2 half orders, but it was enough as a snack. I think if you want cheap wings, go to BDubs, but for more tasty and quality ones, Ashley has some decent chicken options compared to other places on campus. They also have fun trivia on Thursday nights, highly recommend for the vibes!

Yelp
The food is a must have and won't disappoint you! Try the BBQ chicken pizza , poutine and Bomb sandwich! However the service is terrible. Took the waiter 25 minutes to finally greet us and take our order. Took them another hour to get the food outside . When I mean outside I mean on a table with multiple orders of food that were not served. I waited another 18 minutes for a server to walk past and see that food that was sitting on a table. A random server came and severed the food to the customers including myself . The food was cold by the time I ate it ... If you like cold food this is the spot for you! Food and atmosphere is good but it's not worth the wait or service . Was really looking forward but was very disappointed.

Lauren D.

Yelp
Amazing drink selection, and some delightful appetizers. I regret my decision to order their buffalo wings though, and I'm praying I don't get sick. After a day of traveling, I was incredibly hungry and kept attempting to eat the wings, but the texture of all of them seemed undercooked. Having read others' reviews here, I get the distinct impression that their business manager is going to respond to my comment and blame me for my experience rather than acknowledging it as a genuine issue and addressing it in house. You get one shot to make a good impression, and this place didn't do that.
google avatar

John D.

Yelp
Ashley's does a great job and it's mostly what I remember from my college days. Coming back eight years later the memories came flooding back. Came with my friends for sort of mini reunion. The beers were all good and also got some fries for the table which were nice and crispy. I do have to dock slightly because it was kind of hard to get our waitress for refills etc. she and her manager also shockingly didn't know about the Ashley's Beer Tour (the loyalty program which was a massive deal back in my days, where the more beers you try you get prizes and at 100 get your name on the plaque! It's people's life goal to get on that plaque. I'm now officially halfway there so I'll have to come back to get the other 50, lol)
google avatar

Rebekah B.

Yelp
I hate to say it but this place won't get my business again. Ashley's is a place I like to stop in at when I am reliving my college memories of my first Irish car bombs. We had so many good night at this local spot in college. The past two times that I have been I town visiting with friends (also alums) I have felt very unwelcome. Today the 4 of us were approved by an unfriendly bartender who asked us if we "had a reservation" as we sat at the bar. Who has a reservation for the bar top? After that she walked away... she returned 5 min later to ask what we wanted to order but was extremely rude in her tone and demeanor. I let her know she was rude and the four of us left. We took our business elsewhere.

Cheyenne M.

Yelp
A very yummy margarita with good appetizer options. Tried the pretzel sticks, cauliflower wings, and fries that were all delicious. Great outdoor seating option too.

Michael W.

Yelp
Bar tender was amazing. She knew what I wanted before I ordered and I hadn't been there in months. Great mixes but not too much and not too pushy. Best convo w staff and patrons. Ashley's is the Ann Arbor staple and Kala is one of the best of the best.

Derrick V.

Yelp
We've not had good luck here. We tried it again last night. We walked in at 10pm ish looking to have some drinks after a show. We were informed there was a wait (even though there were many tables available). We were suggested to sit on the patio, which we did. After 15 minutes of no service whatsoever, we went back inside and just sat at a table that was open. Another 15-20 minutes elapsed before a server even acknowledged us. From that point forward it was fine. But seriously- 30 minutes to wait for a beer?! We're pessimists that like to be pleasantly surprised, but this place is testing our patience.
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
Amazing on-tap selection (60+?!); great location in the middle of campus; tasty appetizers and entrees -- all make this a go-to spot for any alumni. When I return to A2 I try to time it for a fall visit (nothing like the midwest in Sept/Oct!). After visiting a few cider mills on the outskirts the six of us returned for a cool but festive evening on the front patio (aka sidewalk) to watch passersby and relax with a few different shared brews on tap. The grilled fish tacos are terrific too. The only downside this visit (not Ashley's fault) is that the wait service was slow. That's because they were packed and didn't have enough staff (a pervasive pandemic problem we noticed at many eateries, both in Tucson and Ann Arbor as businesses struggle to reload and reopen). Luckily we weren't in any kind of hurry and we certainly didn't let that uncontrollable aspect impact our good tip to the overworked staff.

Yelp
I friggen love lobster. Like a lot. A lot a lot a lot. So I was psyched to see that Ashley's was still doing their Lobsterfest this year, despite the pandemic. Actually, because of it they extended the celebration to two weekends! As part of this celebration they offer full lobsters that you could order (in person or take out) with sides. They even had to-go packs of meals for up to 10 people with all the sides. Dear readers, I have to tell you...I was tempted! But I stuck with the lobster rolls for my order this time around. On the Saturday of the second weekend my husband and I decided to dig in. Ordering online was a snap and pick up was easy-ish. (I say "ish" because State Street is closed for additional outdoor seating on the weekends so my husband who did the pick up, had to park around the corner to do a walk up. Not hard at all but worth noting that it's not "curbside" on the weekends). And the lobster roll? I nearly wept, you guys. The lobsters are flown in fresh from Boston and the lobster rolls were chock full of chunky, supple and sweet lobster, tossed with a bit of mayo and paprika. It's served with a side of housemade chips, which were a bit over fried for me but my husband loved them. I loved it so much we made a plan to order again the next day. Alas, I was too slow to enter my order and they sold out on their last day. "Well, well, well, if it isn't the consequences of my (in)actions!" I thought to myself as I sadly looked at closed ordering page. There's always next year! Other meals I have eaten at Ashleys have been hit or miss but but most notably hits. Lobsterfest may be over (tear...) but we will definitely be adding them to our takeout rotation for the foreseeable future.

Lanell T.

Yelp
Horrible service. We asked the waitress for straws. She threw them at us! This place is a DIVE. Let me repeat: This place is a disgusting DIVE. Avoid at ALL cost. God only knows what the kitchen looks like. Go down the street to Red Hawk. Much better atmosphere and service.

Jean M.

Yelp
If you like Belgium beer this is your place. If you're looking for good food, keep looking. So bland, no flavor. Do they know what seasoning is? Service is good.
google avatar

Ginger A.

Yelp
Pretzel sticks were yummy. Fried chicken sandwich was phenomenal. How can you go wrong with Mayo and a pickle on fried chicken. Clam chowder soup was very yummy. Loved all of the potatoes and big chunks of crab in it. Poutine fries were kind of cold and wished the gravy was more authentic.

Yelp
This is a very fun spot in Ann Arbor. We were hopping around the city and decided to stop in here. He's been here a bunch of times but this was my first time hanging out in AA. They have a bunch of cold beers on tap. We didn't eat, just came for beers. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The staff was friendly and nice.

Kevin R.

Yelp
Yikes. We were going to the Ann Arbor Folk Festival and decided to go to Ashley's for dinner beforehand. Gave ourselves an hour and a half for dinner. We arrived a couple minutes before our reservation, and were shown our table quickly. It was 20 minutes before the waitress came to the table. She was sweet and overwhelmed. Obviously had very little to no training and was struggling to keep up. We ordered drinks, and appetizer and our dinner all at once realizing it may be slow. 15 minutes later we got our drinks and the appetizer. After almost 30 minutes we went to the bar to try and get a second drink but were turned away by an unpleasant bartender because we were at a table. We eventually got our second drink through our poor waitress who was starting to look very upset. With 5 minutes until we had to leave, we still had no food and asked for our check. The waitress returned with it, in tears (to be clear, we were not rude to her in any way!). We let her know that we've all worked in food service and understood it wasn't her fault. Overall not even close to the experience we expected. And we feel horrible for the poor waitress! Word to the restaurant management - if you're understaffed, don't fill the restaurant!

Jorge G.

Yelp
Rome the manager was completely condescending and just not nice. We went in to have a drink and dinner and he blatantly said he had a bad experience with our people before and was going to be watching us. We had just order drinks and were getting food next. We had to cash out and leave after that.

Gena G.

Yelp
If you are thinking about Lobsterfest, don't bother. We had a 1:00 reservation that we arrived 5 minutes early for. Place was only 1/2 to a 1/3 full. We were told that we couldn't order until 1:00 when the event started. Fine, but at least bring out drinks right away, not mid meal. Tap list out of date ; one of the beers we ordered was unavailable and it took over 10 minutes to get back to us to order another beer. Lobsters were small. Potatoes were shriveled and overcooked, likely from yesterday. Homemade rolls were supposed to be provided with the meal, received a stale piece of baguette. Had to inquire about the rolls 3 times before we each received one. Didn't get any silverware until we asked after our food arrived. And to top it off, they also added in 18% gratuity for a party of 2 for subpar service. Edit following response: My husband did book the reservation specifically for Lobsterfest at 1:00 on open table. We arrived to a table prepped for Lobsterfest with our name and reservation time written on the paper tablecloth.

Yelp
I spoke with the owner and I was very impressed by the way he handled the situation which is why I am changing this to 4 stars. I am hoping to make the trek out that way to try their food.
google avatar

Rebecca R.

Yelp
I finally made it to Lobster week at Ashley's. It's good. A true 4 star experience. The lobster was tasty and the bread and salad great. Things took a bit but I suspected it would. Great way to celebrate Father's Day with Dad. Lobster right from Maine brought to you fresh at Ashley's.

Yelp
We were in the area for the Art fair. Walking around looking at interesting art stuff and merchandise does get exhausting. So we stopped for some nourishment and beverages. Here goes... Cheese Curds: These guys were pretty good, just how cheese curds suppose to taste like. Nice light crunch and the signature squeak. Fish Tacos: really good actually. Beer batter was nice and airy. Light crisp and the lime gives it the perfect finish. Fried Brussel Sprouts: I like it, specially the vinaigrette dressing they toss in. I ordered the Witch's Hat, "Treat Yo Self" to wash them all down the hatch. The food if I was being honest was above average bar food. The service however was the star of the show. The server who took care of us that day went truly above and beyond. Even brung my dog Roxy a bowl of ice water to drink on that sweltering day. Thank you! And for that, I will be back. Thank you so much for reading my review. I hope this helps with your decision making experience. Enjoy your awesome yelptastic day!
google avatar

Maya S.

Yelp
Would recommend beer here, not food. Overpriced for the quality. Severely lacked salt. The chips were flavorless and oily. Patty was good, and the bread was nice and fluffy but crisp. The ambience is great but the food cost is not worth it
google avatar

Mariko I.

Yelp
*pre-covid visit review* If I'm hungry and with a group that wants to get drinks-- I often recommend Ashley's because they have all of the bar classic drinks but also have pretty good food! It's not the best bar food ever, but their creative menu items are pretty tasty most of the time! Would I come here if I were craving a good quality burger? No, but their appetizers are pretty good! Pros: lots of variety, good alcohol options, good food options Cons: not every food item is great, the indoor seating can have that sticky, "bar" smell, a little expensive for bar food My recs: the pesto fries, spicy Brussels sprouts, artichoke dip Pro tip: check out their happy hour for deals!!
google avatar

Felicia R.

Yelp
Food was good, burgers, Philly cheesesteak, steak salad, macaroni....all goods. Service was friendly. Atmosphere was college oriented. It was fun. Service was a little slow but it was game weekend. The place was seems to be at the center of college life.
google avatar

Ed W.

Yelp
After being in town for several months, we finally stopped at Ashley's. Very glad we did. Our bartender was Amelia and she had some great beer recommendations. She was also super friendly. We ordered the soft pretzel sticks and the pesto fries. Both were amazing. We are looking to go back once the current crisis abates.

Brian M.

Yelp
Ashley's, an Ann Arbor staple and home to one of the most varied beers on tap in the area, is perhaps the best example of the neighborhood bar in washtenaw county. And while the burgers, beer and the architecture are top notch, it's the people that work there that are the real stars. Kayla, the bartender of all bartenders, resides over her kingdom and slangs drinks and laughs with magnanimous intent. She is the best reason to stop in for a beer, and while a lot of bars have great choices of beer on tap, they don't have a Kayla.

Yelp
Ashley's is my favorite Downtown Ann Arbor spot for great food and good company. Fridays are my usual days to grab a seat at the bar and enjoy the company of our favorite bartender, Kayla. After a long week, her face, paired with her beer and whiskey knowledge, are just what I need. All the staff is terrific and very friendly! Thanks to all of the Ashley's staff!

Yelp
Worst dining experience ever. Made reservations for lobster fest a week in advance, I knew it was also Father's Day. Started with server telling us ANYTHING with lobster was unavailable, except for the lobster dinner. We were very excited for the lobster rolls and jars. Then we all tried to get the QR code to load, so we could order beers, since they don't have a paper menu backup. We tried everyone's phone for 20 minutes or so. Two of us were frustrated, so we just ordered A beer we knew they had. After a good 10 min I asked the server to get the manager because QR was still not loading and no beers. After a while she showed up and we told her out complaints. She really didn't have any apologies or much to say, except she was the manager only on Sundays. I then told her that we had been waiting on 2 beers and she then informed us, she was the only person who could pour beers and make drinks. Seriously. The other 2 people just ordered any kind of beer, out of frustration. After a while, three of us ordered fish and chips. That, was a huge mistake, considering they showed up looking like overcooked fish sticks, week old coleslaw and fries that had been sitting under the warmer for a long time. Food was horrible. When we got the check, we saw that there was a 3$ surcharge for using a card, and also an 18% tip added for four people dining. We would of tipped the server 25%, since none of this was her fault. But decided not too, since the Ashley's decided for us. We had additional reservations aweek later, but cancelled, never again!

Yelp
We came to Ashley's on Monday evening for trivia night. While here, we got the bacon cheddar fries, which was some solid bar food - crispy and cheesy. We also got the sour beer flight - I loved all of the beers in this flight, but the real standout was the framboise. Only gripe was the slow service, and the brusque staff (not overtly rude, but not terribly welcoming either). Nevertheless, we enjoyed our time at Ashley's, particularly the trivia, and would certainly come again.

Yelp
Most amazing beer list around. Tons of great brews on tap. This is known - what I didn't know was that the food here is actually quite tasty. I had excellent Korean short ribs taco it was a little spicy But It truly just made me want to eat more of it. My friends had hamburgers that are very tasty and the fries were perfect. We also had the flash fried brussels sprouts that were pretty good but needed maybe a little salt. Great bar atmosphere.

Yelp
I came here during Ann Arbor Restaurant Week 2021 to get their three-course meal to-go, which consisted of: Appetizer: House made Pretzel sticks Entree: Fish & Chips / Pacific cod filets dipped in Gulden Draak (authentic Belgian dark triple) beer batter, hand cut fries, jalapeno slaw. Dessert: Belgian Liege Waffle / Yeast dough waffle with Belgian pearl sugar with Nutella and chocolate sauce toppings. A silver lining of this pandemic is that Ann Arbor Restaurant Week offered to-go options, so I got to try multiple restaurants this year. Previously, I only had time to sit down at one, maybe two restaurants. And after this year, I know which restaurants I'll want to try out in person once it's safe to!

Yelp
One of my friends has been telling me about Ashley's for about the past 15 years and I feel like every time I've ended up in Michigan I've "almost" come here or the idea of coming here has come up. Why? They have probably every single kind of beer you can ever possibly imagine on tap. I really need to come back here sober some day though because this was our last stop on our bar crawl and I just got a Great Lakes Ellie Porter (which I've had before and its solid) but I was at that point where reading was hard and let the bartender make a dark beer suggestion for me. The staff was nice in letting us stay a few minutes longer while they closed up because someone decided while I was in the bathroom to order a round of mugs of absinthe. Which is never a good idea. The pours were incredibly healthy. I feel like I could live in this bar and never grow bored.

Yelp
We visited during the summer and enjoyed drinks and some appetizers outside. The wide beer menu and the happy hour deals were great! Great service with limited interaction with other guests and staff so we felt comfortable dining here. Highly recommend checking out this restaurant and perusing their beer menu.

Yelp
Came here during the art fair in Ann Arbor. A friend was with us and mentioned the place. We were like why not. We had been walking around and had gotten hungry and thirsty. The place was packed with the fair going on. At that time they had outdoor seating which allowed us to have our dog. The drink list is beyond reading and has something for everyone. I would recommend this place for people who are into craft beer. The food was decent as we only got appetizers to share amongst all of us. The service was good with the waitress taking very good care of us. She even provided some water in a bowl for our dog. That was a plus in my book. We need more places in Michigan that are dog friendly and let you have your pet with then.
