I dined at this restaurant a while back, and it was a great experience. I particularly enjoyed the beef dish, which tasted delicious and perfectly cooked. The fried rice was also good. This restaurant has a vast menu with many dishes and drinks to choose from, which can make it challenging to decide. However, the overall service and ambiance were good.

Google
The food was absolutely outstanding. The flavors were very assertive and delicious. We shared an order of the potstickers, then went family style with the orange chicken and a Korean beef dish that was incredible. The service was very attentive and friendly. It was a sweltering day so the AC could have been cranked up a notch to make the entrance to the restaurant really feel refreshing. It was definitely cooler inside, but we would have liked to cool down a bit during lunch. We would recommend it and return if in DC again.

We stopped by for dinner the other day and we truly enjoyed it! All the food was delicious, the atmosphere is nice and quiet. We liked it a lot!!

Not crowded at all on a Saturday in May month. Shrimp popper was awesome. Thai basil fried rice portion was huge for one person; medium spicy is spicy enough for someone like me usually eating spicy food. Reasonable prices for the city with a lot of tourists. Service was fast.

Google
Amazing food, they hit the Asian spicy spot for me tonight. I had their tom yum soup and drunken noodle. Tom yum soup was sour and with a bit of kick. Shrimp was cooked just perfectly in the broth. The drunken noodle, which is a rice noodle stir-fried with choice of protein, basil and a lot of hot pepper was amazing.

I came in with friends to get a “kind of quick” meal and leave. I asked for a dish with vegetables and tofu, and it came back as a beef dish. They fixed it after my request and it came back with just vegetables, no tofu, and a pretty depressingly small portion. Definitely not worth the 18 I paid for it. Also I know it wasnt a problem with the waitress because I saw her write it down properly, so not her fault. Also it took a really long time for the final payment to get done, but maybe they’re understaffed. At least the dish tasted good.

I went to a happy hour at Asian Nine and I was not disappointed. There happy hour menu is awesome about the value was great. We started off with their drinks (Thai Whiskey Sour, Hibiscus Mojito) and the combo sampler. We then got the Asian wings and Chicken Skewers prior to getting Panang curry. They had a very polite staff and made us feel at home. We had a great experience there and would go back.

Google
Great place for a meal before or after going to see a show at Ford's Theatre. We had crab Rangoon, wonton soup, papaya salad, yellow curry with chicken, and drunken noodles with chicken. We were very pleased with everything we ordered.

Mira S.

Yelp
Went here on a Friday night, and it was not busy so service was pretty good. We went as a group of 6, and we ordered a couple of noodle and rice dishes plus some apps. I had the Cantonese fried rice with tofu, drunken noodles with tofu, chive dumplings, and spring rolls. The spring rolls were nothing special, but the chive dumplings were soft and chewy. I liked the Cantonese fried rice, but it was not very spicy so I had to add some chili sauce to make it more flavorful. The drunken noodles were great, packed with saucey flavor. Overall, good dinner experience, but I probably won't return since there are better Asian fusion spots in DC in my opinion.

Yelp
Great happy hour deals! Our server even came over at 6:58 for a last call for happy hour, which is rare, but appreciated ! I got the hibiscus margarita which was yummy, but very sweet! My only complaint is that they list gluten free on their menu, but I was disappointed when I tried to confirm that something was gluten free the server did not know. If you're gluten free stick to the drinks, or be prepared to ask questions! Will come back to visit for drink deals.

Yelp
I came to Asia Nine because I really just wanted a glass of plum wine for happy hour, and the food did not disappoint! I got agedashi tofu and drunken noodles with chicken. The portions for both were amazing - I saved noodles for another meal! The tofu was nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The bartender brought me sauce separately for the tofu but noticed that the tofu was already in the sauce when he came to my table. I don't care either way since most Japanese restaurants have their tofu soaking in the sauce when served. The noodles had a great stir-fried flavor, not overpoweringly salty. The servers and bartender were very friendly, no complaints at all! Even on a Friday night for happy hour, it wasn't too busy or rowdy, and I enjoyed a nice meal watching some soccer. It may seem skeptical that they have a wide, expansive menu that covers multiple Asian countries, but the two times I've been there, I've had very positive experiences! (The other time, I had pad thai with tofu for lunch - also great and amazing portion size!) They really deserve better reviews, and I wanted to help boost that and their business. :)

Allie S.

Yelp
Good restaurant in DC for Asian food. I had the pad thai and was surprised at how generous the portion size was for the price given the location. The noodles were great and the staff was friendly. Would stop by again if visiting DC.

Samuel L.

Yelp
A small joint that sells all kinds of Asian food and drinks. We recently visited here and it was a pretty good experience overall. The atmosphere resembles a small restraint that has a bar along with cute decorations, giving life to the space. The staff were overall friendly but not very attentive. They were slow to refill drinks and not good at checking in on the tables after food was served. Definitely the place for improvement is here. The food is what carried the overall rating. I had the drunken noodles and they were amazing! Perfectly chewy noodles with a spicy sauce that was put together very well. Overall, still a positive experience. A 5 would've been received if the staff were just a little better.

Aleshia A.

Yelp
Pretty good food. My spring rolls were very close to being burnt but my green curry was delicious! Perfect curry flavor and not too spicy. Service is slow for a mostly empty restaurant and they never really check in on you, which would be fine but refills on water are always nice. But overall the restaurant is larger than you'd think from the outside and they have a cute instagramable swing up front.

Vivek S.

Yelp
This restaurant is not what it used to be, and this is reflected by the fact that it's mostly not more than 10% occupied. Food is ok. Note that they don't have sushi anymore. If you order alcohol that is not on the menu, please double-check the price. The bartender can mislead you.

Tori N.

Yelp
I had a nice dinner at Asia Nine with a friend. It wasn't packed but the atmosphere was nice. There were a lot of things on the menu that were really appealing and I went with the shrimp pad woon sen. I liked that it was a very light dish, with cellophane noodles, egg, and veggies, but a lot of flavor. It came with a side of rice, which didn't feel necessary, but it added to the volume. The portion was enough that i could take leftovers home of the noodles but not shrimp since the portion of small. The waitress was very attention before we ordered and came back a couple of times to refill out water. Overall a good meal and good time. I'd like to go back to try more food.

Courtney K.

Yelp
Bottom Line: Asian Fusion restaurant that is a good stop for a quick lunch during the week. While in the area for a meeting I needed a quiet spot to get sit down for some lunch. Asia Nine fit the bill. Service was attentive and friendly. I ordered off of the lunch specials menu and my food came out quickly. I forget the name of the dish but it was basically a rice bowl with fried chicken. While it was tasty there wasn't a vegetable in sight so I should have chosen wisely. Anyway, I appreciate that Asia Nine offers lunch specials and makes its easy for people to pop in for a hot cooked meal on their lunch hour.

Sharlene S.

Yelp
Great happy hour in penn quarter/Chinatown area. Service- bartenders were kinda busy during happy hour but helpful once you get their attention. Table service seemed slower so maybe sit there if needy. Food- good portion sizes and flavorful. Vibe- good space for groups, couples, after work happy hour, pre/post theatre meal, etc.

Mia Z.

Yelp
It's Asian fusion. The menu covers Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, a bit Korean and Japanese. Nothing is phenomenal but everything is pretty ok. This is downtown DC. I think to find an above average Asian fusion is really a plus, with all considered. The service is great. And it's a decent place for groups, family. The bill won't break your wallet for downtown DC pricing.

Melonie V.

Yelp
Loved it!! Tried the red curry and it was delicious I just wish they'd make it thicker, otherwise everything else was amazing, great customer service and super fast at serving our food! A Very clean restaurant with a quiet ambiance

Aubry C.

Yelp
Upon entering, my associate and I were greeted by a woman who was quite friendly. She seated us up on an elevated area and took our order properly. Let me start with my drink...I had the Japanese mule and it was GREAT, the best I've had yet...It had hibiscus pieces in as well. Yummm My associate had the Mai tai and says that it was great as well. The menu is pretty vast and the food was really good and flavorful and I had enough to take with me. A good pick for Asian food if you're in the area.

Yelp
The food is amazing delicious! Start off with the Wonton Soup& Spring Rolls. For lunch I had the Asia Nine all Mein! Love the spicy sauce.

Yelp
As I strolled down the streets of Washington, DC, I came across this lovely little gem nested in the heart of the city. I was treated to a stunning five course meal at this restaurant, and I must say everything was at the utter peak of deliciousness. The ambiance of the restaurant was also very family friendly, which I appreciated as I brought my seven youngsters with me. Thank you for everything, Asia 9 .

Aahna D.

Yelp
Ordered the pad see ew tofu veggie and chicken. Was very good and three lunch plates were enough for four people. Reasonable price and good service. Some of the tofu was a little eggy but good for the most part.

John W.

Yelp
This uesd to be my "go-to" Asian Fusion restaurant in this area, since the only Asian options in this area are in nearby food courts or a trek to Chinatown. I really liked the noodle dish selections, but somehow, the quality of their food has gone down recently and not worth what they charge for it. This is still a nice restaurant to dine with co-workers or if you are in the mood for Asian Fusion food before or after a show in one of the nearby theaters.

Alex D.

Yelp
This Asian fusion restaurant near my office was great and the portion size was perfect for lunch. One of my coworkers and I decided to order from here for our lunch. Everything tasted very good and I will be ordering from here again soon.

Daniel S.

Yelp
Great servers, really nice and efficient. Thai mojito basil was browning, and the dumplings and popcorn shrimp were bland grease bombs. It's a nice space, could be so much more.

Emily B.

Yelp
Food is meh, ambiance is awful. Service was fine, hostess was super nice. I won't be coming back here after another restaurant patron at the table next to us started watching videos on speaker phone and the restaurant staff did nothing about it.

Brian L.

Yelp
Asia Nine bar was awesome. Great experience. Very clean dining room and super nice service. The food was awesome. I had a salad with a small salmon fillet on top. All delicious!

Chris K.

Yelp
I had always wanted to try this place and managed to come here on a Saturday evening. We were pleasantly suprised by how diverse the menu was and actually had a difficult time deciding what to order! My dinner item was on a separate smaller menu and I don't recall the name of it, but it was essentially slices of fried chicken over jasmine rice with veggies and sauce. It was delicious and the bowl was large. Our server was excellent and provided a great experience for us. The prices are very reasonable and the location is right next to a parking deck in Chinatown. By the time we were finished eating, the place was packed and lively. Overall, very much worth the trip!

Yelp
Stopped by Thursday night for an early dinner. Not too crowded and we were seated quickly. Ordered spring rolls and kapow over rice. The spring rolls were warm but the chili dipping sauce was not very flavorful. The kapow was room temperature and also lacked flavor. The vegetable portion was not as much as I would have expected, definitely more rice. The room was well lit and music was not too loud. Great service!

Lily S.

Yelp
It was rainy and we quickly needed a place to sit down where it's spacious or isn't jam packed (like certain coffee shops). Asian Nine Bar and Lounge had very interesting decors that caught our eyes. It wasn't too busy during weekday lunch hours. Mom and I shared a Grilled Salmon Salad. The veggies were very refreshing but the salmon could've used some marinating. Good thing the Sukhothai Noodle Soup was very flavorful. We asked for something not spicy and this was it (or perhaps they took out the spiciness, I can't remember). I remember the taste reminded me of tamarind. We hung out for a long time until the rain stopped. Staff was very respectful and wore masks the whole time.

G W.

Yelp
This was an amazing experience!!! The atmosphere was great and the food was incredible!! The prices were reasonable and the staff were exceptional!

Deb G.

Yelp
Large restaurant in the center of the city without a wait and good food. Pad Thai portion was generous and tasted good. Other dishes at the table got a thumbs up: sesame noodles and spicy pork. It's a good place to enjoy a meal after walking around the mall.

Christa H.

Yelp
(We ordered via DoorDash, so this review is for the food only after traveling and not atmosphere) The food was still hot by the time it arrived, which was impressive. Everything was yummy and we'll definitely be ordering again! What we got: ORANGE CHICKEN: good serving size and chicken was crispy. I liked that it wasn't dripping in sauce. TERIYAKI ENTREE (SALMON): came with rice and steamed veggies, and everything was cooked perfectly. The salmon was nicely sauced, and there was a bit of a char to it that made it a little crispy and smoky. The teriyaki sauce was good, and it came with cucumber and ginger that was refreshing. THAI BBQ CHICKEN: apparently the sauce was a little spicier than expected, but I didn't even try it because the chicken itself was PERFECT. Chargrilled and so juicy it didn't need anything to taste amazing. Definitely want to try more options next time, super impressed with the variety available on the menu and curious if the other dishes hold up.

Yelp
Nothing special. Continue on to fin md better places a few blocks away in Chinatown.

Kenneth K.

Yelp
My fiancé and I went here with a friend from out of town and 3 other friends on a Saturday night. The place was quite empty which is sad for what is usually prime time dining. Perhaps it is more of a business and tourist spot. It is quite surprising that they are still in existence while other places in the neighborhood had a lot of people sitting outside and we did not see any outdoor dining here. The food is quite good, especially the sushi and the two rolls were specials but may have been the Tuna Kimchi Rolls Spicy Seared Salmon Roll. The Grilled Salmon Udon was pretty good, but not quite as good as we expected. The portions were quite big and we barely finished our food while our friends did not. Their drink selection is wonderful and affordable, for both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. We ordered the Anderson Valley Black Rice Ale and the Lemon Ginger Ice Tea and they even gave us a complimentary refill on the ice tea. The service was so-so as our waitress forgot our drink and miso soup orders. They had a 20% service fee, which I'm not sure if it was due to our group being larger and split checks or if this is pandemic practice but it would have been good to know in advance. Plus 20% seemed high considering the service needed improvement. While not five stars, it is a good Asian Fusion place at a reasonable price for Downtown DC.

Jonathan B.

Yelp
The owner needs to take down the photos of sushi on Yelp and remove sushi from the description if they are no longer going to serve sushi. Pretty darn annoying to walk five blocks based on their own false advertising.

Cheryl T.

Yelp
Friend raved about the orange chicken and sushi and took me to try both. Ordered shrimp tempura roll and soft shell crab roll initially. They were both good. We were told that the "fresh lemonade" drink was fresh when asked. It was not fresh lemonade and tasted like crystal light. For entrees ordered Korean Beef that comes w rice and papaya salad --it was tough and had an unfresh flavor. Literally spat it out in napkin. Sent it back. Orange chicken was initially cold. Asked for warm version. It was crunchy and very very sweet. Friend said it was nothing like the tender dish they had brought me to enjoy. We then ordered a seafood roll (forget the name) and it was sloppy messy and unappetizing. I did not eat. Far too much soupy sauce. Left a bad taste. Disappointing.

Billy B.

Yelp
Very bad customer service and the food not that's great. I'll never go back. Panda Express better than them.

India ..

Yelp
I went to Asia Nine on a slow weekday, so the service was very quick and basic. The atmosphere was very chill by the bar where happy hour was active. We ended up splitting the HH sampler. The shrimp poppers were really good and left us wanting to order more. The one night in Bangkok drink was too sweet for my taste, but the lychee martini was perfect. The drinks and food came out pretty quickly. I definitely would come back for drinks again. I would give it a 3.5 stars because the food wasn't exceptional, however, I enjoyed my experience.

Lin Y.

Yelp
This place is spacious and has a lot of artificial flowers beneath the counters and also near the entrance where there is a flower covered swing bench! Some might say it is tacky but it is tacky fun!!! The serving size is small but the flavors are big! I enjoyed the use of dates in the Asian Grilled Chicken Salad and more restaurants should follow suit! It created a nice contrast in textures as well as added a bit of needed sweetness! Servers will rush you in and out but if you like to linger, just do! If you get a window view looking at the J. Edgar Hoover Building then you are staring at an iconic building housing the premiere law enforcement agency in this nation! Not bad for just coming for a meal, you too can get a freebie tourist attraction! A recent groups of friends went the next day for lunch and told me they had gi-normious portions! I guess it depends on the chef of the day! Mine could have been more generous!

Victoria S.

Yelp
Cool digs near Gallery Pl with a sleek vibe. Menu is a hodgepodge of several cuisines. Most of the offerings are Thai or Chinese, sprinkled with some Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese-inspired dishes. They also normally have sushi, but not today (according to the sign on the front door). Still, many choices. Their drinks menu is just as comprehensive and eclectic. I ordered the veggie tempura udon noodle soup. The vegetables included eggplant, mushrooms, sweet potato, broccoli and carrots, and were crisp and non/greasy. They were served separately from the soup bowl (bonus points). The udon was cooked perfectly and swimming in a light broth with seaweed, boiled egg and scallions. Overall, pretty good. My companion had the Japanese style curry veggies (minus the tonkatsu pork) over rice.

Liz H.

Yelp
Terrific service, delicious food, happy hour deals. This is a great place. The food is very flavorful. Maybe too flavorful for my sensitive stomach. I got crab wonton (rangoon) and dumplings for appetizers. Even though I shared them with another person, I was full like I had eaten a meal. Both were delicious but I had massive heartburn afterwards. Also, they have different house made sauces and the soy sauce that had the red peppers in them kicked my a**. Nothing tasted like I couldn't handle the spice level. I really enjoyed everything. But a couple hrs later my stomach was in a lot of pain. This is rich food and if you can't handle spicy, don't add the sauces. (Btw I ate yogurt, Pepto, and ibuprofen and eventually felt better. It was definitely spice not food poisoning.) Anyway, I would order the same things again but eat more carefully. I give them 5 stars on Yelp.

Kelson N.

Yelp
I have only been to this place one time and it was during happy hour. I ordered from the happy hour menu. Overall my experience was OK but not enough to make me want you to come back for more. To be completely honest for the quality of food I felt that everything was overpriced and the only way I would come back is that if the prices dropped by at least half. The drinks tasted OK so I don't have much more to say about that. I have to say that despite the poor choice in quality of mangoes (which I hoped a server would have more sense not to server) once I scooped off the bad portion of the mango the mango sticky rice was actually my favorite menu item and I would actually go back for that.

E J.

Yelp
I had been going to Asia Nine for over 15 years since I work close by. I am happy to see them survive after the pandemic however, it looks like the quality of food has gone downhill. Chicken kapow was my go to order for lunch. The last couple of times I have ordered it, it was tasteless. I cannot even eat it and had to get another food for lunch :(.

Shane M.

Yelp
At first I thought the presentation was great, attentive staff and really liked the crab wontons. But I guess that's a ploy for you to lower your guard. Checked the bill again once I got home and saw that they added a "service charge" at the bottom and didn't say anything. Interestingly enough, that same charge is in the amount of a 18% tip AND i tipped again. So at the end they got tipped twice. There is no sign about it on the door or anywhere in the restaurant. This fault is on me because I should have really inspected the bill before I left. Now I feel stupid for trusting myself to go here. They should be ashamed of these tactics. Disgusting.

Suzanne P.

Yelp
Love their spicy noodle soup! A long time favorite lunch stop. Asia Nine has consistently good food.

Maria P.

Yelp
Had a reservation- arrived at restaurant- stood in the entry way for 10 minutes without being acknowledged. Left to find anew place to eat. Do t accept reservations if you cannot meet the demand

Alice J.

Yelp
Nice service, delicious food, central location. We came here because Jaleo was bursting full (it's a Friday night). Much calmer atmosphere here. Friendly service and our order came quickly. The crispy basil duck was great. The portion of their papaya salad is huge; not spicy (in a good way). The three grilled prawns in the salad were very tasty. The tuna tartare was very fresh (on a bed of lettuce).

Zolboo B.

Yelp
So glad we came to asia9! Food is so good and the service is on point! Sushi - 8 Drunken noodle w/ chicken - 10 Korean beef - 10

Lauren L.

Yelp
We got delivery and almost everything was just fine. The Korean beef was mediocre, and my fiancé said he wouldn't get it again. My sushi was fine. The spring rolls were good, but what do you expect from fried food? The mango sticky rice was enjoyable, but not anything special or a reason to order from here. The chive dumplings were not good at all. Literally just chives stuffed into a dumpling, and we didn't care for the sauce either. I did enjoy the pickles that came with both appetizers though! For the price, the food is not worth it. BUT I have dined in here, and the ambiance makes a big difference. So for delivery, I'd pass. But for dinner in a post-COVID world? Sure.

Nora B.

Yelp
Food was alright! I liked the Panang Curry, and the Pad See Ew was delicious as well. The servers were very friendly and attentive (09/22)

Bridget G.

Yelp
It's hard to find a place for a group dinner downtown. This place arranged a long table for us and separate checks. The decor is casual but the food was elegantly arranged, delicious and offered a wide range of Asian flavors. I would definitely return or recommend to others.

Maria-Elena T.

Yelp
Had the salmon teriyaki box for lunch. It included a salad and soup. Both the soup and salad were very good. The soup had flavor and the salad gonger dressing was good. The box itself had the salmon (overcooked), two wontons (good), 3 pieces of bite size sushi (fresh and good), fruit (pineapple sweet and cantaloupe tasteless), and fried rice (big portion but very mild flavor). I ate nearly everything except the rice and chose to bring it home to make some shrimp fried rice the next day. Service was good It's a solid 3.5 star but I am rounding up. I would come here again.

Robert Z.

Yelp
Guys- we decided to try some local flavour after jetting from Hard Rock due to lack if service up the road and glad we did. The Happy Hour is phenomenal in addition to the service. We split 4 rolls for about ten bucks, delicious and fresh, along with some apps and edamame. The crispy shrimp roll was excellent, and the crab wanton was amazing. Her, you can order any drift for $4.00 between 4 and 8, and mixed drinks and martinis for bery low cost. As you can see by the pice, a variety of drinks that definately did not skimp on the alcohol. Guys, DC us an amazing place, and this is a local resto that is a great example of a non franchise that serves folks decent and quality food for under $100.00 US. Next time, will definately try some additional local favs@ -Zuk

Mike P.

Yelp
Service was terrible. Staff on their phones. Staff was not attentive to their customers. I witness the Host being rude to a couple of color, who were visiting and asking a question about parking. The host was unprofessional and unkind. Nothing about the food was good. It was boring and lacked true flavors. Ambiance didn't fit the space and environment. The places looks like it is on its way out.
