Asian Station Review - Rogers Park - Chicago - The Infatuation

"If you’re in Rogers Park and can’t pick between pad thai and sushi, Asian Station is a workable option. It has a long menu of Thai and Japanese dishes, plus a whole section for banh mi. And unlike the infinite loop of take-out activity happening at the front counter, the bright main dining room is pretty relaxed. There are usually only a few people dining in, so grabbing a table for a solo lunch or casual catchup meal is easy. Noodles might be slightly overcooked, or a curry might lean too sweet (though the rich chicken curry with the roti canai is always reliably good), but everything is decent enough that you’ll leave satisfied. Amazing flavorful food. I got the spicy basil chicken (pad krapao) and my friend got the the tom kha soup. Both were so good. Everything tasted fresh and well seasoned, and the serving sizes were good. The spring rolls were fresh and a large serving. The waitress was also very nice, and the decorations are pretty.

Google
Would you pay $20 for a carrot sandwich? Bread was soaked, so we changed it out for a fresh roll. This is not one of the better Bagn mi in the Chicago land northside.

Google
I was carving some soup noodles. In stead of order something I knew and had before. I ordered their recommended food on the menu ‘Duck curry’. It came with a bowl of rice and a big portion of curry. It’s a Thai style dish because they have pineapples and leaches in the curry. Pretty cool, I like it. I also ordered another recommended dessert ‘Thai custard’, it’s a warm dessert, a mixture of taro, eggs and coconut milk. I love taro, so anything with taro is delicious. The lady served me was so nice, I guess she is one of the owner. The restaurant is very clean and colorful. It’s was a pouring rain while I stepped out of the restaurant. I was able to stay until it almost stopped. Very friendly people and nice food.

Google
Sweet, welcoming mom and pop restaurant with fun decor. They have something for everyone: Sushi (raw, cooked, vegetarian), Thai, Korean, Chinese and Vietnamese. I fed three kids who each found something to love. We liked the Pad See Ewe, Korean corn dog (sweet dough), and miso soup. Very courteous service. Pride flag in the window made us feel welcome.

Google
Really friendly staff at a local pan-Asian spot. The green curry was tasty, maki was good but nothing special, samosas were a little bread heavy but a nice flavor. Good spot for cheap, tasty food

Google
this place has great food, great service, and it’s really affordable as well! my 2 friends and i shared an appetizer and dessert and we each got an entree and drink; everything was $72 total. the thai iced tea is particularly good and i loved my pad thai with tofu. highly recommend!

Google
Asian station rocks. The food is always fresh and hot, portions are fantastic for what you get, and taste, oh you beautiful beautiful taste, they have it on lock. Full selection of sushi as well as awesome favorites like Bahn Mi's. I had Korean corn dogs, The pad Thai, and an order of thai custard. Everything was absolutely delicious.

Google
This was our second time to Asian Station. We liked this place so much we wanted to bring some friends back. The service was great and friendly. The food was terrific. The Maki rolls were especially great. The prices were extremely reasonable. And to top it all off it's BYOB. You got to check this place out it's fantastic. I don't leave reviews very often, but I want people to know how good this place is and it needs to remain in Rogers Park.

Yelp
I'M SO GLAD I DISCOVERED THIS ROGERS PARK RESTAURANT ! EVERYTHING about it shines from the minute you walk in. The ambience is so special, the decorations are clever and fun to look at, the co-owners radiate genuine friendship. And the FOOD is ultra-yummy with a wide-ranging menu. After savoring every morsel of what I ordered, a CARRY-OUT addendum was an obvious choice. LONG LIVE ASIAN STATION !

Michael R.

Yelp
Having lived in Rogers Park for 16 years I literally watched this family owned business 'grow up.' It started as a small take out joint next to the Morse Red Line stop but expanded to have a sit down dining area and I was ecstatic when that happened. The food here is so consistently delicious and the variety in the menu has a taste for almost everyone to enjoy. Believe me when I say consistent quality as I've been there over 30 times at least lol. And yes, almost each time I ordered something different. Charming family (she knows me by name) charming ambience and AWESOME food.

Yelp
The food and service was really good, but my friend and I unfortunately got food poisoning here.

Shellynn B.

Yelp
this is my favorite place to order from in rogers park! i'm vegan and love to get the yaki soba, cashew tofu, and the satay tofu bahn mi. 10/10 recommend and everyone is so kind and friendly.

Yelp
I was here randomly the other day I have passed by this place before The food was good and if you think about food places that are near train stations this would be a good one. Sushi and sashimi were good. This was the first time in my life having a fish soup

Yelp
I looooove Asian Station. Really underrated spot in RP. Their menu is huge and everything I've had has been delicious. They're the only place I know with lime tofu.
google avatar

L B.

Yelp
The crab Rangoon? Spectacular. Give me 14 of em right now. The sushi? Delicious. And they gave me a few extra egg rolls just for fun. Yum

Yelp
I'm a fan. This is the craziest mix of different Asian cultures, but for some reason it works. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the space is comfortable, and the food is really good. Having a space like this that we can walk to and get decent food quickly is wonderful. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
I love this place! Most pan-asian restaurants restaurants usually excel at one cuisine or another - either the sushi is terrific and the pad thai is meh, or the bành me is terrific and they seem never even to have tasted kimchi. But everything here is extraordinarily good. The service here is wonderful! There are so many customizable options, and as a vegetarian, I love being able to request tofu instead of chicken. They are super LGBTQ supportive and welcoming. I've never used their dining room, but I think they have one, and if the good vibe I get from initially meeting the staff is anything to go by, I would imagine it is as enjoyable as literally everything I have ordered from this place.

Claire S.

Yelp
amazing food, some of the best asian food i've ever had. Extensive menu, excellent service, great vibes.

Yelp
Located near Morse Red Line train stop, this clean looking restaurant has excellent reviews. It was conveniently located near the Rhapsody Theater. However, I am not a fan of msg. I was very thirsty afterwards which is a sign of msg. Also for past two days, I have had diarrhea.

Isabella S.

Yelp
I LOVE ASIAN STATION!! The service is so wonderful!! They are all so sweet and nice!! I crave the egg rolls and spring rolls almost every weekend! The pad Thai is also super yummy here! I also love taking friends to lunch here it's a super cute place! It's also right off of the Morse stop so it's easily accessible thankfully!! Highly recommend

Yelp
Super tasty take out spot. Pan asian fusion cuisine. I love they have certain Malaysian -Indonesian style offerings like roti canai with yellow curry to dip in. Lots of different styles. It's pretty much all take out here but the service was good. It's a cute spot inside. If you're into comic cons and anime they have quite the assortment. But for the area, the food is great, variety, taste style. I can always find something that hits the spot.

Yelp
We passed by Asian Station once before and saw it was closed. We decided to come for dinner on a Saturday evening. So glad we did! First off, love the little toys and gadgets around the front! The toys definitely gave Asian Station an added plus. I liked seeing the dinosaurs, and the Marvel action figures on display. Around the front, the menu has been set up on top of the toys. The menu offered options such as Hawaiian Fried Rice, Kee Mao, Thai Chicken Satay, Lime Chicken, Mango Juice, Lemonade and the perennial favorite, Thai Ice Tea. We did not have to wait long for our food. For the take out, I ordered the Vegetarian Kee Mao. It tasted divine! It came with red and green peppers, tofu, tomato, fat noodles, mung beans. Joseph ordered the Hawaiian fried rice. He said it was tasty. Come to Asian Station. Bring friends, family or a date. Note: take out available only.

M W.

Yelp
Cute barebones pan-Asian spot. Seems like they mostly do take out, but dining in is very peaceful. Food is hot, ample portions for the price. My fried rice was stellar. Orange chicken was on par. Our server was just the right amount of attentive and always had our water flowin

Yelp
I was at this restaurant and ordered Udon doodle. A few hours after I ate, I had severe stomach and abdominal pain and diarrhea. Since I did not eat anything else, I had to say it was because of the food from this restaurant. Just be careful.

Ryan H.

Yelp
Ever since my favorite Thai restaurant closed, I have been on a search for a comparable replacement. This restaurant was an amazing find. The See Ew at this restaurant has become my new favorite See Ew. We also ordered the Red Curry and that was equally delicious. The price was reasonable and the service was friendly and fast.

Yelp
Check this place out! Very authentic yummy Thai dishes & more! Came for Northside restaurant week - will have to make a trip back! Excellent service!

Yelp
Pretty solid fast/takeout Asian food! Asian station gets 4-stars for solid taste, great prices, great serving sizes, and good service. They also threw in free egg rolls! I tried the following: - Crab rangoon: REALLY tasty if its fresh/right out of the fryer. Very cream-cheesy; I would've preferred more crab meat - Bibimbap: Pretty good. Not the most Korean or authentic tasting, but if you're not concerned with that you'd probably enjoy a lot. Fried egg was cooked over-medium. Still tasty nonetheless! I had enough for leftovers. - Egg rolls: Solid. Not the best I've ever had, but cannot complain at all about a free egg roll. - Thai iced tea: Good! Not too sweet, and not too much ice. Good ratio, and well-balanced. No complaints! Asian Station would be great for late night eats, a quick comforting meal, or to fill an Asian fast food craving.

Yelp
This restaurant is definitely the local neighborhood spot. I love going here because the quantity of food for the price charged is definitely worth it. The customer service is never off and the speed of kitchen staff is amazing. Sometimes you will enter this restaurant and the host is bumping some bomb music. I love how they sell more than just food. There are small trinkets, snacks and now masks available for purchase. The snacks match the cuisine so you are bound to find authentic affordable asian snacks. There is a nice waiting area (there is no such thing as a dine in because the place is small) but they do not mind a customer waiting inside despite of COVID-19 as long as you follow the rules of wearing your mask at all times. My favorite dish is the pad see ew or the pad thai with the easy egg rolls and the thai custard.

Yelp
Really really great Asian place. It was takeout only when we visited, and the woman who took our order was super nice! Loved the decor. Hope we can eat inside soon! It was only complimented by some really really solid food. This place is great!

Yelp
I can see why this place has such good ratings. I got delivery from this place and everything was delicious and for such a good price. I got the beef pad see ewe, shrimp tom yum soup, and the tofu panang curry. I wish the beef pad see ewe had more veggies in there, but other than that it was perfect. As for the shrimp tom yum soup, they had a good amount of shrimp and veggies! Lastly, the tofu panang curry was outstanding. I enjoyed the curry very much. Delivery was just under 45 minutes which is a reasonable amount of time. This place will be my go to place for thai food. I haven't tried any of their other food yet.

Yelp
Food is great! I order from them all the time! Pet friendly - especially dogs. Friendly staff and service.

Yelp
Don't sleep on this gem! Legit right off the Morse Red Line stop in Rogers Park is this pan Asian restaurant that has a crazy amount of delicious items on their menu, open 6 days a week (save for Wednesdays) to serve its neighborhood. Frantically looking for a spot to grab dinner last night for Christmas Eve, Asian Station came through! I was amazed by the number of curry dishes they got, especially when I saw they had some Peking Duck curry! I never had Peking Duck before, so I figured it was the perfect opportunity to try some. Great choice, cause that curry bowl was tight!! Prices are real reasonable too, and when you order delivery/takeout with a total over $20, they'll throw in 3 little eggrolls for free. I'm a big fan of pan Asian restaurants, and I love how this lowkey spot presents themself. Not to mention, my order came out quick! Kinda can't believe it was ready to pick up in about 10 minutes, though I'm sure it was because it was the holidays. Still, amazing dinner, amazing sides (crab ragoons are delish!), wonderful little restaurant. Asian Station rocks. Hoping all the best for them during these unpredictable times for small businesses.

Yelp
This is a great little place overall with great food from all over Eastern/Southeastern Asia. You'll find lots of Japanese items, some Korean, lots of Thai/Vietnamese, even a few Indian. Being that I'm disabled I always order delivery. I've tried several appetizers -- my favorites being the shumai dumplings (excellent) & the Crab Rangoon (also terrific). The samosas are huge and delicious. I didn't care for the chicken satay. I'm not a fan of white meat chicken because it's often dry & this is the case here. The pieces of chicken were huge. But again -- very dry. Even the peanut sauce which I love could not make up for it. I'm hoping one day they'll change from chicken to pork. My all-time favorite is green curry beef. I've gotten it a gazillion times over the years. I like some heat but not so much that I can't taste the subtlety of the flavors underneath. I've ordered this dish many times from here and each time it is so so good. Consistently good. And not so spicy I can't taste what's underneath. The panang curry is very good. As is the mussamun curry (except it needed more potato -- I only found 2 small pieces.) I love the Thai sweet-sour cucumber salad and the Tom-Yum soup. I'd stay away from the American desserts -- I got a woefully small not-good slice of cheesecake for $6.99. (I'd have rather added that $ to the delivery person's tip) I'm not sure if they are pick-up & delivery only or if you can also eat there. All in all a neat little place with lots of delish super-fresh Asian food.

Yelp
Don't get the chicken teriyaki! I don't know where they are getting their chicken from, but it's bad. Almost every bite, I had to spit out. It was all gristle, fat, and even a few small bones. It was horrible. I used to go here all the time but had stopped and couldn't remember why. I don't need to try again.

Beverly A.

Yelp
The food was good, we ordered take out beef broccoli, miso soup, cucumber salad and the Morse platter all of which was tasty. However the beef and broccoli entree was disappointing the portion size was very small for the price. Next time I will only order Sushi no entrees.

Maria Y.

Yelp
Sooo yummy! first time having lunch here and it hit the spot! I am vegetarian and they have an amazing Tofu satay sandwich. My husband raved about the spicy chicken basil. I will be sure to come again. Also it's a local business who doesn't like supporting that! Staff was very nice and efficient.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is wonderful! I like sushi there, they're really tasty. And service is very friendly and welcoming.

Khailia J.

Yelp
Yummy food and great customer service! I recommend the egg roll and crab Rangoon. I ordered take out and meal was ready when I came to pick up.

Jose A.

Yelp
This was a stop in for an early dinner before meeting up with friends for drinks. I saw this restaurant on instagram or some article. I definitely wanted to stop in and support small businesses. The server was very nice and attentive with my beverage. Also with my braces I had to adjust my eating habits so and this was a good stop in. Folks please stop in and check them out. I believe there was about 5 tables for 2ppl and a larger dining table towards the back for about 4-6ppl I believe. Pricing was very reasonable, overall I paid about $27 plus tip.

Kay Y.

Yelp
Pretty restaurant with a pleasant staff and the Thai food is good but don't order the expensive Japanese Udon noodle with tempura. The tiny vegetables had thick globs of batter, the shrimp had a different batter that was not a tempura batter and they were served with a very thick and sweet sauce that was not traditional. Someone needs to teach the cook properly if they are going to put this on the menu and change so much for it. The soup broth and noodles were good but not $16.95 good. I'm now afraid to try their sushi and maki.
google avatar

Alex S.

Yelp
Love it! Just had some sushi from here that I got as take-out. The service was very quick and it is definitely the best sushi I have tried in the area. The western fish lover and the Chicago redline were really good. I love cilantro and I think I'll ask for it to be taken out of the red line next time. Still great. The sashimi was tasty and fresh. They have a free egg roll promotion for order over 20 bucks and those were pretty good too. You get four with the order. Definitely plan on coming here again.

Sophia B.

Yelp
So yummy! They are quick and consistent. Crab Rangoon could be filled better but otherwise everything we've gotten is good.

Yelp
I feel like an absolute knob for not trying them sooner! I live nearby! Honestly, part of my hesitancy is that I've been disappointed by a lot of the thai food I've had in a 2 mile radius from here (and no, I have not tried every place around) and tend to order from Uptown or even Sticky Rice in North Center when I'm able to splurge on food + huge delivery costs. I think I was also a little nervous because this place offers so much, and I haven't always had good food at pan-asian places, and so I tend to stick to thai place, korean place, etc. But I decided to finally give it a go and I'm so glad I did. I picked up the spicy basil chicken over rice with an egg AND fried kimchi. First, the spicy basil was delicious! There was no real difference between this and the stuff I order from uptown, etc. except it's closer and cheaper to get it here. It asked for it spicy hot and they gave me a side of chili sauce to add to it. I tend to like things THAI HOT and this wasn't Thai Hot, but it definitely wasn't mild either. I'd say it was what I'd consider medium spicy but what most people I know would think of as fairly hot. I was satisfied. Next, the FRIED KIMCHI!!!!!! YUM! This appetizer is huge, btw. Best shared with four people, but could be a meal onto itself for one person. It comes with a sweet and spicy dipping sauce that is very good. I haven't seen this anywhere else, so I'm glad we have it in Rogers Park!!!!! I also tried an egg roll since they came as a promo with my order. Light, crisp, and tasty. I'm really glad I finally tried this place out. It's my new go-to and I hope to try the Bahn Mi next since that seems to be getting rave reviews and, again, it'd be great to not have to go all the way to Uptown to get a good one.

Yelp
Ordering delivery from a new place always makes me a bit anxious, but I was pleasantly surprised when received my food. Delivery was ridiculously fast (I ordered through GrubHub), & I could tell my food was freshly made. The egg rolls were light & crispy, good as is or dipped in the sweet & sour sauce. Pad See Eew came with plenty of beef, wonderful noodles, & my veggies were still crisp. (I prefer them that way!) The dish had a bit more sauce than I'm used to, but that too, was beyond tasty. And, they did omit carrots like I asked. I love when places can follow special instructions. Can't recommend this place enough & I look forward to ordering delivery again!

Yelp
Located in the transit area of Rogers Park, just a block from the Morse street Red line stop is where you'll find this little gem. It's a very small storefront and if driving it is easy to miss. It's more like a take out than a restaurant, however with all the cooking & cuisines offered you'd think you ordered from an actual sit down restaurant. For the passer-by, they offer three short tables in case a commuter would like to stop in for a bite. The Asian station serves up entrees of Korean, Malaysian/ Indian, Thai, Vietnamese origin and sushi too!. If you're willing to give them a try, you are about to embark on a taste exploration. One quick detail I'll offer is that their roti canai is too sweet for my tastes. However, I feel that most Americans would love it. A multi-layered paratha bread served alongside a chicken curry for a mere $6. It is quite nice a meal deal and or appetizer. I was in the area for a happy hour gathering. Since I was hungry I decided to bring a bounty of food to share. We shared the appetizers platter, roti canai, a sushi roll, some spicy pad thai and different appetizer roles. A wealth of food for about $thirty something dollars. The friends were impressed. So much so, that one has been back 2-3 times since with similar orders. Those living in the Rogers Park area should definitely check out this take-out.

Yelp
WE HAVE A WINNER! Asian Station is an amazing addition to this area that lacks a solid Asian food joint. My friends and I who have all tried this are fans of it even after just 1 visit! So far, everything I've tried has been delicious and priced well. The lime chicken is a nice chicken dish with a sweet citrus mayo sauce. It came garnished with lime slices on it which I will ask to omit next time as it gave the chicken a bitter taste that I wasn't a fan of. But I loved the lime flavor in the actual mayo sauce they drizzle on top! The pad woo sen with chicken was also a favorite with a generous helping of veggies, protein and noodles! Lastly, the salmon avocado roll was a solid choice for a simple roll. Everything was ready within 20 minutes of calling in the order! I'm looking forward to trying more of their menu items since it all looks delicious. There's a variety to choose from whether you're looking for a rice, noodle, curry, or sushi dish. Definitely recommend the whole neighborhood get on board to support this local business and help it thrive!

Yelp
We often get delivery from Asian Station. Everything we've had is delicious, but the spicy basil tofu is one of the best anywhere, ever. The bahn mi are great--as good as any strictly Vietnamese place in my experience; the curries are very good; the miso soup is unusually savory and fine; the bimbimbop is yummy. We LOVE this place.

Yelp
Great food and very friendly service. Been ordering take out from them for years. Love their Banh mi sandwiches!
google avatar

Sook K.

Yelp
I've lived on Chicago for 4 years and the Asian food is pretty mediocre, which is disappointing since that's predominantly what I love to eat. There's a only a few places I think are outstanding. I've ordered twice from here AND I LOVE IT!!!!! Thank you thank you thank you for making good food.
google avatar

Dos T.

Yelp
A great local spot for take out with classic pan Asian dishes ranging from Thai basil and pad Thai to bahn mi sandwiches and salads. It's very small (I'm not even sure if they do any dine in) but it's a great place for reasonably priced dishes with good portions. I love that this is nearby!!
google avatar

Natalie M.

Yelp
I enjoy coming to Asian Station for carry out when I need a quick comfort meal. As a vegetarian, I love getting the spicy edamame, spicy miso soup, and the veggie roll. My boyfriend likes the spicy basil chicken entree. Large portions for a good price. Love having this place in the neighborhood!

Yelp
Yaki Soba was delicious and the Korean Pot Stickers hit the spot. PadThai was as orange as the Thai Iced Tea--wasn't as good as I'd hoped for. Love ordering the dish but it's pretty much hit or miss depending on the restaurant. Food was delivered on time and everything was secure. I mention this because as Larry David would say--you've got two things to do: get the order right and secure the food. Lol! Plus we've all been there where half your order is spilled in the bag. Ugh Overall I'd go 3.5, only because the Pad Thai was a miss, but definitely 4 stars on everything else. Price point, portion, flavor, secured, and on time...that's what we should expect from all places but that's not always the case so I think it's nice to give credit where it's due. Will order again in a heartbeat.

Yelp
Just had their bulgogi beef banh mi and it was AMAZING! this is our go to pan Asian restaurant and it has yet to disappoint.

Yelp
Last night we had our third great experience of Asian Station via delivery (I always go to the shop's actual site, not GrubHub or whatever), and the food is fantastic, excellently packaged, and plentiful. And delivered fast! Based on my experience, if you wonder what to order, try these: (1) Japanese katsu chicken. It is packaged in three parts: the breaded/fried chicken pieces, the curry sauce, and the rice. So it's easy to put it on a decent plate and have it freshly presented at home. (2) Singapore chicken. Steamed chicken slices, an aggressively spicy (in the best way) sauce, and awesome ginger rice. (3) Bibimbap. Korean marinated beef strips in a fabulous sweet/spicy sauce, on rice with vegetables and a fried egg. Each time, we qualified for a free order of four "easy egg rolls." These are crisp, fresh, and delicious. We're regulars now. Can't wait to place another order here. Five stars!
google avatar

Mike A.

Yelp
I've only been there one time and picked that time to try banh mi for the first time. Ordered the bulgogi banh mi and it was honestly out of this world. I was sad when it was over. Update. I've been there four times and the bulging I bang mi is still the best thing I've eaten all year.

Yelp
Asian Station is a neighborhood gem! I can't believe how inexpensive the food is, and it's delicious. Holds up really well for takeout. I love that they offer a free egg roll if you buy through their website. I can't wait to try more dishes from them!

Yelp
Like other people who reviewed before me, I was skeptical about the quality of the cooking and ingredients at this place, since its menu is large and touches on several different cuisines. But the food was high quality, the portions were generous, and the service was prompt and polite. Asian Station set me up with some spicy, tender pork over rice (with pickled veggies) Korean-style. The pork was flavorful and meaty. The rice was perfectly cooked, and the pickled veggies were fresh, crisp, and well-seasoned. I also got a garden salad with fresh avocado, tomatoes, and edamame. Again, the quality was there. The miso soup had large cubes of tofu, and the broth was flavorful and not too salty. Even the free egg rolls that came with my $25 order were good - good veggies, good crispy wrapper, no old-oil-deep-fryer taste. The place looks like a hole in the wall and is easy to miss. But inside, it was clean and bright. I will be returning! I can see this quickly becoming a regular order.
