Overhyped, overpriced, and disappointing
Visited the much-hyped Aslam Chicken at Jama Masjid and tried their famous Butter Chicken along with Rumali Roti, Khameeri Roti, Chicken Korma, and Chicken Biryani. Unfortunately, the experience was far below expectations.
Despite a waiting time of nearly 30 minutes, the food did not justify the crowd or the hype. The place was extremely crowded, and to make it worse, the pricing felt quite high for the quality and taste being served.
The Butter Chicken was especially disappointing — it tasted like plain tandoori chicken drowned in excessive butter, cream, and masala, completely overpowering any real flavour. The Chicken Korma was the only somewhat edible dish, but even that was nothing special. The gravy was loaded with over-roasted onions, giving it a slightly bitter aftertaste.
The biryani was a complete letdown — bland, no aroma, no masala depth, and not even properly seasoned. It felt more like coloured rice than biryani.
Rumali Roti and Khameeri Roti tasted just fine, but that alone is not enough to justify the hype or the prices.
Overall, this place is highly overhyped and overpriced. I would not recommend it to anyone looking for genuinely flavourful Mughlai food.
