After 8 years away from the city we returned to Aslam's Rasoi and are delighted to report the food is as great as ever, if not better! The warm reds of the room and the cozy seating along with a cup of chai was the perfect thing on a drizzly night. Service was so welcoming and genuinely kind, and the food came quickly. Like many restaurants they need more support , especially with the loss of so much parking on Valencia keeping folks away. Come visit the area soon and bring your appetite for this San Francisco classic!

10 out of 5 stars. Seriously. The food is amazing. I ordered the chicken tikka masala this time, and the chicken is so tender, juicy, saucy, and packed with flavor. In love. Sonia is the sweetest server with thee best food recommendations if you don’t know what to order or want to try something new. Every single dish I’ve tried from Aslam’s is on point! Even my 6 year old picky eater nephew gives them a thumbs up. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the mood for quality yum yums.

Love love love the ambience at this restaurant so elegant the little candles set the mood for our date night but also great for groups The staff is always so wonderful and welcoming very thankful for great customer service The food: love love love always on point always so delicious we started with barbecue tandoori chicken wings then we ordered the chicken tikka masala and prawn korma was sooooo yummy!! The rice paired well with it all but not without the phenomenal garlic nan!!! All and all 5 stars wish I could give more! Can't wait to come back with the family next time!

So happy to be back here at one of my favorite restaurant in the city. Aslam Rasoi is always a hit if you're craving for some North Indian paki food. The service is great here especially the waiter and waitress that works here. Ambiance is awesome! And we got so lucky today with VIP parking in front. Chicken tandoori and Tikka masala is always a must here!

We ordered the samosas, cauliflower pakora, mixed seafood curry, dum aloo vindaloo, paneer tikka korma, pulao, garlic basil naan, and paratha. The samosas and cauliflower pakora were crispy and just the right portion size. Mixed seafood curry contained shrimp and fish of the day, in a mildly spicy curry sauce. Dum aloo vindaloo was especially tasty, and inspired me an interest in recreating this dish at home. Paneer Tikka korma was an interesting combination of two common curries, topped with slivered almonds. I ordered the mango lassi which came out extra creamy and sweet. The garlic basil naan was a little different from usual, with a taste similar to pizza. The paratha was a new item for me and very good. Lovely servers who explained the menu very well to us and provided attentive servers. Would absolutely come back here again!

Food, ambiance and service, everything is wonderful! Great dinning experience, each dish is crafted tastefully, and lots of different options to choose from in each category. Their fish pakora's are to die for. Goat cheese naan, onion kulcha curries, samosas, biryanis everything is delicious. Service is excellent and the vibe is great!!

Amazing service. Our waitress was very helpful and accommodating. We had a party of 8. We ordered several dishes extra spicy. Food was good. The chili pakora was fantastic. Butter chicken was my favorite. A few others preferred the Korma. It's not my favorite Indian food in the Bay Area but it is good. Worth a visit if you are craving Indian in the mission.

Omg yum, I think this is my new favorite Indian/Pakistani restaurant. Service is fantastic and space is clean, spacious, and quiet enough to have a conversation. We ordered a rose, appetizer platter, paneer saagwala, lamb biryani, and a paratha. Everything was so incredibly fresh and the saagwala in particular tasted incredible. The plates look average size, but they're actually really filling because the chef is so generous with the proteins. Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and clean as well. Not oily whatsoever. Really loved being able to taste all the spices and ingredients so distinctly. We were blown away. Everyone here is so kind and friendly and the food spectacular. We truly had a wonderful experience from the moment we set foot into the restaurant. Thank you for a wonderful date night!! We'll be back very soon :)

I love the food here and the waitstaff are always so friendly and helpful. I don't eat out that much these days, but I will often make an excuse to go here. The first time I ate here with friends we tried many of their dishes and this is some of the best Saag Paneer, Prawn Biryani, Navrattan Korma and Tandoori Fish I've had in SF. And when you ask for spicy, they deliver. So good!

Some of the best Indian food in the city! Highly recommend the tandoori specialties section of the menu. Everything comes out with amazing flavor from the tandoori oven. And don't sleep on the Samosa Chaat! It's the perfect medley of flavors and a must order! The service is the absolute best - so warm and welcoming! It's a family run business and definitely worth supporting. I heard they are potentially relocating or closing in May 2025, and it breaks my heart. Run, don't walk, to get some of their tasty food.

Some of the best Pakistani/indian food in the bay! The pakoras were my favorite part of the meal. They were breaded lightly, and yet were unbelievably crispy! The chicken and lamb are juicy and full of flavor with an enjoyable level of spice. The biryani is not real dum biryani, but the rice is still flavorful and quite good considering. The servers are attentive and friendly and their interior space is huge. If you love dhaba style food (pakwan, shalimar, karimi) but want to go a step up in flavor and service, this is the place to go!

I've eaten at lots of Indian restaurants and I'm not sure how this place does it, but the food is so unbelievably good. It's become our goto takeout Indian and we love dining in whenever we can. I've never had an 8/10 dish here it's always on point.

This is one of the oldest and most delightful Indian restaurants in San Francisco. The owners are incredibly warm and welcoming, adding to the charm of the place. My go-to dish is the saag paneer--it's, without a doubt, the best in the Bay Area. Since I'm not a big fan of spice, I always stick to the mild option. A helpful tip: if you opt for a higher spice level, they enhance it with small pieces of fresh chilies, so keep that in mind. Pair the saag paneer with some garlic naan and a nice glass of wine, and you've got yourself a perfect meal. While it's not a luxurious or extravagant spot, the cozy, homely vibe reminds me of dining in India. What keeps me coming back, though, is the warmth and kindness of the owners--they truly make the experience special.

I came here during a weekday for date night and this place exceeded my expectations. Our waitress and service was awesome, very friendly staff, and they go out of their way to make sure their customers are happy. We ordered some of their popular dishes such as the chicken tandoori, chicken tikka masala, and saag paneer. Each dish had amazing spices and seasonings. This place will definitely be my new go to spot when I'm craving an amazing Indian cuisine.

We have been eating at Aslam's Rasoi for around 20 years. It never disappoints. last night we had a fish, lamb and two chicken dishes. Each one was perfectly prepared and just as spicy as we like it. For us, Aslam's is the best Indian food restaurant in San Francisco. Maybe in the whole U.S!

The food is the best indian food you have ever had. The service is the best service you could ask for. This is a family-owned business for 20+ years...in San Francisco - you know they must be doing something right! And they are doing many things right!!! I always take my out-of-town guests here and they are always so impressed that they bring it up whenever we talk. Do yourself a favor and go here for a special night.

Aslam's Rasoi has such friendly service and they go above and beyond to take care of you! My family and I came here last week to celebrate a birthday dinner. They were able to accommodate a big party and to add the restaurant is spacious. We ordered a few dishes to share family style and so many different naan breads too. We ordered: Chicken tikka masala Lamb saag gosh Whole chicken tandoori Samosa Lamb vindaloo Chicken karma Lamb biryani Garlic and basil naan, plain naan, goat cheese naan Poori Papadum All the items such as curries we ordered mild due to the young children sharing at the table. All curries had a lot of sauce to dip your naan bread into. I wish they would've added a little more protein to their curries. We had left over curries to bring home too. Naan bread was nice and warm and we had extras. The poori and papadum was a family favorite and the children wanted more. The restaurant also made some spicy sauce on the side for us to try. Thinking it would be spicy and I wouldn't handle it.. it was not spicy at all and it tasted more like a brown stew. We were appreciative that they were able to make us some spicy sauce on the side. Thank you.

Aslam Rasoi was fantastic! We were treated like family by the family that runs it. They were warm and friendly and recommended amazing dishes. It was probably the best Indian meal we have ever had. You must order the lamb chop. Simply spectacular!!!

Aslam Rasoi has been our go-to restaurant for Indian/Pakistani food for many years. It's consistently delicious, the service is friendly and prompt, the dining room is spacious yet cozy. We can't recommend it more highly.

Food is so good, service was even better. We tried fish pakora, chicken biryani, chicken curry, and roti. Everything was delicious. Our server was very nice and took good care of us She offered us a generous discount. Ambiance is good, we got a nice seats by the window. Would go back again to try more dishes.

This spot has been in the mission for the better part of a few decades as I found out recently and after eating here, I can definitely see why. We got a couple of things which I would highly recommend - 1. Garlic and basic naan -- the naan was fresh and very fluffy 2. The onion kulcha - just like the garlic naan but, it is stuffed with onions, a perfect pair to any curry 3. The chicken tandoor - we got 1/2 of the chicken and it was perfectly seasoned and came on this hot plate which was a great touch 4. The murgh masala - chicken curry which we got at a spice level of 5/5 and it was definitely spicy enough. 5. Mango lassi - it was fresh and tasted like it was made with fresh mangoes 6. The nimbu pani - lemonade elevated with indian spices, definitely some of the best I've had The service here was unparalleled, we felt like we were family from start to finish. The care taken with every table in terms of answering questions and ensuring that everything is good was very apparent. You can tell that they care and strive for the very best. The restaurant is spacious, and while we did not have to wait as we showed up around 8:45 PM, i can imagine it gets extremely busy earlier in the evening. After our meal, the owners asked if we enjoyed everything and if it was spicy enough, further showing that they really strive to go above and beyond. This will be my new go to place for indian food in the city.

For me, this the best Indian food in San Francisco. I don't really go anywhere else. Chef is in the kitchen, and his family runs the front of the house. The hospitality is perfect. The food and ingredients are perfect. This restaurant makes me happy. Everyone I recommend it to is blown away and an instant customer, and I recommend it to everyone. It's in my top 5 SF go to spots - I eat here at least once a week.

Very good Indian food for the the bay area. Less noisy than your standard SF restaurant. You can actually hear what your dinner date is saying. Fast and friendly service. A lot of vegetarian options, also caters to mild and spicy pallets. The Naan here is above average, we even got another order to go. The curry is very saucy, which is great to dip the Naan in.

This review is way overdue! Been here so many times and each time I kept saying I need to tell the world about this place! Amazing service and food! I've recommended this restaurant to all my friends and family and no one has been disappointed. My husband is a vegetarian and he gets the paneer tikka masala while I get the chicken. Our go-to dishes but literally love all the dishes we've tried. The staff here are gems. Very accommodating and go out of their way to ensure you have a great experience. Must try!

Aslam's is my absolute favorite Indian/Pakistani food in the Bay Area! Huge fan of their chicken madras and saag paneer. The naan is always perfectly toasty and I'd recommend a mango lassi to accompany it all. The quantities are satisfying and we often end up taking a whole extra meal's worth home in a to go box. On top of the excellent food, the service is phenomenal. It's the type of warm, friendly, family-owned business that makes SF feel like home. They've been a low-key institution on Valencia st. for at least as long as I've ben here, and quickly became a go-to. If you want to impress someone by taking them to that 'sleeper spot' with incredible food, take 'em to Alsam's!

This is the BEST Indian/Pakistan restaurant I've been to. Everything I've tried is delicious, the service is wonderful and the price is reasonable. Also the chicken is organic, no hormones or antibiotics in it. Looking forward to going back.

Aslam's!!! A friend took me here a few weeks back. The service is very warm and welcoming. We ordered the bone-in tandoori chicken, matar paneer (green pees, homemade cheese cubes with spices in tomato cream sauce), and the kachumber (cucumbers, onions, and tomatoes). I was just blown away by how delicious everything was! It was so good that we returned this past weekend and ordered the same thing! And it didn't disappoint. This place is a gem! I can't wait to go back again!

Great experience overall. Wonderful service. The food was both a hit and a miss though. I really love Tandoori chicken, seafood Biryani, and poori. Especially, the Tandoori chicken, so tender and tasty. However, this i was not five stars since the meat in Chicken Tikka Masala was too dried and not that flavorful. I don't know if this is because we ordered it to be mild spicy or not. Will try again with a regular spice level.

Great tandoori food and the ambiance is nice as well - and the bathrooms are clean. The spice level is adjustable, which is great for our family and the lamb kebobs and the tandoori chicken is to die for.

I've been coming to this Resturant for years and I've never had a disappointment meal. The food is delicious, authentic and consistent. Some of the best Indian/Pakistani food in the city. Everything I have tried in the menu was cooked to perfection. Both the vegatarian meals and the meat dishes are super tasty. Sonia is your server and she is a master at making this Resturant feel welcoming and inviting. Her warmth and charm keep people coming back . Her father in law is the chef and is obviously talented. It's a large resturant and I've never had to wait for a table. I'm scared for the day when the world finds out what they are missing and I will actually have to wait to get a table.

I've been to several highly regarded Indian/Pakistani restaurants around town over the years, and hands-down, Aslam's is the very best in every way. A dear friend turned me on to Aslam's, for which I am most grateful! The tandoori chicken is a-mazing! Love love their saag paneer too. Sonia is the kindest, and most attentive server, and will ask if we want half and half saag paneer and saag aloo. Try it--So good! The garlic naan is a perfectly seasoned chewy delight alongside our paneer. Last visit I ordered the chutney and raita for the first time and will repeat -- harmonious complement to the chicken. I am so in love with Aslam's tandoori that it's hard not to order that every time, but gotta branch out one of these days! The atmosphere here is nice and relaxed and quiet (YAY!!) and the staff is wonderful. A welcoming, delicious spot to spend time! Best best best!! Don't wait to go. Just leave a table open for me and my friends please!

Hands down, the best and fluffiest naan I've ever enjoyed in SF so far I love that I was able to support a local restaurant, my waitress said it was her family's restaurant. It was adorable. I really enjoyed my naan and lamb korma, I will be returning. Inside was a very large restaurant, with a bar. I don't drink but I bet they could make most drinks here. There were plenty of tables and it overall felt like a big space because of the tall ceiling

went on this place for the first time on a Saturday night right before closing and it was not super packed. staff was very kind and recommended some of the popular dishes to us. food came out in a timely manner by the kitchen staff. The naan's were the perfect texture - not too hard or crispy. the chicken tandoori was sizzling when it was brought to our table. the chicken curry was at a spicy level of 5 and the spice slowly kicked in.

I went to Aslam's Rasoi yesterday for the first time with a friend, and I loved my experience there. Not only was the food incredible, but the potions where generous and super reasonably priced. Most of all, the warmth and friendliness of the entire staff was so remarkable. Especially Sonya is so sweet! I wish I would have found this gem sooner. I will be dining there a lot from now on! Service was on point. We came 1 hr before close and got our food within 15 minutes. Chana masala- different. Fresh. Tomatoes. Ctm- yellow in color but packed a punch. Briyani- outstanding. Not oily. Fresh. Naan- very good. Mixed platter- absolute letdown. Tastes like tilapia. Bug jumbo shrimp. This was a disappointment. Good vibes. Nice is slightly higher than other curry joints. $176 before tip for 5 guys to eat like kings

A place like this is where you want to come back because of the awesome staff. Foods were great too! Our server (blonde colored hair) was so friendly and sweet and definitely made our dining experience more enjoyable. We asked to make our curry even spicier and another server brought us even spicier and delicious curry. They both were awesome! Tikka masala is unique in a way that they put green peppers which I have not had in other places. Sang paneer was also tasty.

I have been coming to this restaurant for many years now. I have to say it just gets better and better. There is no other in the bay area that can compete with the flavors that come out of the kitchen. Last night we ordered lamb biryani, and it was completely full of flavor. It was made perfectly, the proteins were cooked to perfection the rice was nice and fluffy, and I must say very generous portions of meat. However, I could not stop eating the chicken tikka marsala because the sauce was so incredibly good. All I needed was the naan to dip into the sauce. The chicken was also super tender and delicious.

Excellent food, way beyond the normal Indian restaurant, very reasonable prices, I would come here anytime I was in the city, highly recommend.

If you are wondering which Indian place is the best on Valencia Street, look no further than here. Take it from someone who has lived in the neighborhood for over three decades - the other restaurants do not compare. Aslam's Rasoi is my go-to for consistent, delicious, wonderfully-prepared Indian food. You will receive generous portions at a reasonable price too. I highly recommend the chicken salad as a starter - the produce is always fresh and crisp and the dressing is delicious. They have better sauces for their papadum and naan than any other restaurant I've been to. Last night I had the prawn masala and it was seasoned to perfection (I got 'medium' and it was neither too hot nor too mild - just right!). But the best thing about Aslam's is the family who owns it....they all work together and have been just so sweet to me over the years with their warm smiles and all their care and kindness. I love these people and I'm so glad their business is still in my neighborhood!

There are a great many Indian & Pakistani restaurants in SF, and we have tried many. This is our favorite of them because the food is just that much better. Our frequent favorites are: Gobi Pakora, Tandoori Fish, Bhindi Masala, Bengan Bartha, Saag Paneer, and Kachumber. If you don't need to sleep, definitely order the richly spiced chai.

This whenever I had a bad day or feel down I go to Aslam's Rasoi. This place is comfort food for me. The food is always tasty and the staff as always friendly. By far my favorite place for Indian cuisine in the city!
