Delicious beer. Great bartending staff. Love the new big screen. Feels like a classic local bar. Could use a couple of dart boards, bags, or other bar games. Love the Psychonaut IPA. Great balance of east coast and west coast IPAs, as well as sours, ciders, and stouts. Highly recommend.

This was a quaint brewery in North Houston with a fabulous Italian food truck located on the property. They have a pretty large selection of different styles a beer. For those of us that like a little bit of everything, beer flights are available. The prices are reasonable, and the staff were all very sweet. I will definitely return the next time I'm in Houston!

Was recommended this place by a brewer friend of mine in Austin and I have to say it did not let me down. The vibe is immaculate, just a nice chill place with friendly staff, and good beer. I didn’t know what to try so I asked the beer slanger working the bar JJ what to try and I was not disappointed. JJ was friendly and had good recommendations The kolsch was smooth and easy drinking, good and traditional, the helles wasn’t too bitter like some other breweries that try it and also easy drinking. This place basically has the standard beer down perfectly. I decided to try their astra ghost which is outside of my normal beer I enjoy and even this while hoppier than I prefer exceeded my expectations since I thought I wouldn’t enjoy it since I’m not an IPA enjoyer Overall if in Houston I highly recommend visiting it. The beer is good, the atmosphere is nice and the staff friendly. Next time I’m in Houston this is on my list of must visit places!

Google
Such a cool little place! The art inside is beautiful and well done. The beer is super tasty as well. The staff was super friendly and they seem to have food on premises often. It was so clean including the bathrooms! They have outdoor seating and plenty of parking. They also have a ping pong table inside and a running club!

Google
I have been coming here for a few months for Thursday night trivia. It starts at 7pm and usually ends by 9pm. Dog friendly!!! The staff has always been friendly and helpful when you are unsure of what beer to order. They have a couple wine options and sparkling waters for the non-beer drinkers in your group. The food truck outside lately has been a taco truck. When I first started coming here, it was a pizza food truck and felt that fit better more than tacos. My fingers are crossed that one day I'll show back up and the pizza is back.

Google

Google
Astral Brewing has a great selection of beers and an awesome happy hour (4pm-6pm). They always choose excellent food trucks. Easily the BEST brewery in the Northside, Garden Oaks and Heights area. They also sell original art by local artists, and have a ping pong table.

Google
The space and staff are great! The beers are good as well. While there's only 4 beers currently, there is something for everyone with the styles they have available. There's cornhole, a ping pong table, and a couple TV's to watch sporting events. Dog friendly with a food truck to satisfy, this brewery was a great experience all around.

Yelp
This is the best neighborhood brewery in Houston! They have a fantastic selection of tasty beers, ranging from hoppy IPAs to rich stouts. The laid-back vibe makes it a perfect spot to relax, whether you're with friends or just unwinding after a long day. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to help you find the perfect brew. The outdoor patio is a great place to hang out, with plenty of seating and often live music or food trucks on the weekends. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to enjoy great beer in a chill atmosphere!

Yelp
Walked in with my husband wanting to grab some beers while we waited on our food. Bartender kept having random conversations instead of acknowledging other customers wanting to order beer. We decided to just walk out as we were never acknowledged even to say "I'll be right with you" .

Joe C.

Yelp
Me and the family came for bingo and had a great time. Great beer and food truck available, try the fried shrimp.

Gina R.

Yelp
We went on Friday around 9pm and it was a quiet night which was great for us, staff was really helpful and friendly. We all had the cider and we liked it a lot. Big place, opened to the outside with a small food truck outside. Would definitely return.

Yelp
Super casual & a great spot for meetups ! I visited Astral Brewing for the first time with a meetup group I'm a part of. It had a lot of open space and a great variety of drinks (even for non-beer fans). There was actually another meetup happening at the same time which, for me personally, was super awesome! It allowed different groups to mingle and learn about what each has to offer (if they so choose). Location: Since it's located in the GOOF area, it's pretty easy to get to. It is hard to see though, as it doesn't have clear signage and is tucked away behind a mechanic shop. That's the main reason I couldn't quite give it 5 stars (though I wish 4.5 was an option!). Parking: There's tons of parking from what I could tell. We had no problem grabbing a spot. Food: Though we didn't try the food truck, we loved that there was one there. Having that option really adds to the place. Drinks: There's a wide selection of brews and I heard they were great (I'm not a beer drinker myself so I'm not judging based on this). They did have a wine option as well AND a cider option (be still my heart - I love cider). Other things: They did have some tvs playing various channels (I believe at least 1 was a sport game). They also had a simpsons pinball machine ! Overall this is a great place to visit or host a group gathering/meetup. There's already a 5k running group that meets there Wednesdays so definitely try that out if you're into running !

Yelp
This is a pretty cool place! It's not huge. Open air, which it was beautiful when I went. Nice selection of crafts beers. I think they had around 10 in total. Even a good sour. They are dog friendly. It did get busy around 4pm on a Sunday. This isn't a place I'd stay a long time, but worth the visit. Unfortunately, and I'm not docking a star here, the food truck was too busy to even acknowledge as I stood right outside the window for 5 minutes. Whatever happened to customer service? Say "Hey, I'll be with you in a minute."

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Decided to explore a new brewery! Parking was very easy as there's a lot with plenty of spots. there's indoor and outdoor seating with some space-themed decoration. I ordered a flight and also asked for a recommendation on a west coast IPA. Both bartenders were very easy to talk to, knowledgeable and extremely nice! Unfortunately, when I went, the food truck got cancelled last minute. Not their fault :) Love this spot! Very chill, great location, wide selection of beers and nice employees! Will come again! Ps: bathrooms were very clean, ladies

Yelp
Now this is a dope Brewery! My first brewery in HOU I've had the pleasure of checking out. Located in the Independent Heights neighborhood, they carry a sweet 16 selection of taps with different kinds of suds. Favorites include the Psychonaut IPA and the Darkness Falls Porter. Plenty of seating exists and there's always a food truck (usually tacos) just outside to satisfy eats cravings. Beer gives you munchies! A back room for ping pong (or beer pong?), shuffleboard, life-size Connect 4, and other board games exist to get your competitive juices flowing after you've indulged your copious amounts of brews. A TV showing whatever sports game always plays at the bar area if you need something to watch unless it's Soccer; in that case you can avoid the tube altogether! Reminds me of breweries back home in Loudoun. The nostalgia hit me after my first sip. Cheers!

Deya Z.

Yelp
It's a bit hidden and not much else is around (without driving) making this a great warehouse brewery! Their IPAs were pretty tasty so try a flight if you can. We found ourselves in an informal Great Dane gathering, which seriously made my day. The food truck was an Oaxacan place, which was amazing. Definitely will try it again!

Kevin E.

Yelp
Awesome venue! Not all their beers are my favorite, but they know how to take care of customers. Super friendly staff and unique choices. The music selection was choice and we were never neglected. The food truck was good but for our party they allowed outside food. Their sours are spot on and the chocolate layer cake stout is awesome.

Jason W.

Yelp
Came in on a Friday evening. Wasn't very busy, plenty of open seating. I am a big fan of their IPA selection. Coconut Limelight was also a solid lighter beer. They have ping pong, oversized connect four, typical brewery games. There was a food truck there, I'm not sure if it rotates but we did not try it. Overall, a good place, we'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Astral Brewing just opened this week in Garden Oaks/Oak Forest. When you're driving down Shepherd, you might miss it if you aren't looking for it because it's nestled beside an auto repair place. They have a pretty large parking lot, and overflow parking at Texas Lift, which is really nice for business right off of Shepherd. This place was up and popping on their first Saturday night in business! It is a two man operation, and both founders were tending bar, which was cool to see. Their website says they plan to focus on hoppy ales, including hazy NE IPAs and crisp West Coast IPAs. We really like what they're doing with their other styles though. Right now, they have four beers on tap - kolsch, a pale ale, an IPA, and a porter. The Kraftwerk Kolsch was my husband's favorite, and mine was the Nebulous Pale Ale. All of the beers were pretty solid. Things I loved - their astronaut logo, ordering flights, very pet friendly (with dogs being allowed inside), the ambient outdoor space, rotating food trucks, and most obviously, the brews!

M M.

Yelp
Really cool atmosphere w art and happy plants. Food truck was outside and someone was having a baby shower when I visited. Super fun spot. I recommend stopping by. I've been to a lot of local breweries this one has excellent beer and vibes.

James H.

Yelp
The beer was very tasty. Great space! I am an IPA drinker and this place knows how to make an IPA.

Jordan F.

Yelp
Beers are great. Service is straight forward. TVs present if you want to watch the game but not everywhere if you want to feel like being more conversational. But what's best is the high top tables......sturdiest tables around. You can lean, tap your feet, slap your hand on it in laughter but your beer won't budge. Freakin awesome.

William R.

Yelp
Their signs and beer are pure fun and I hope they keep psychonaut and astra ghost forever!

Emily F.

Yelp
I enjoyed this spot a lot! The bulk of the seating is indoors in the AC which is nice for Houston summers. There are some games inside and a ping pong table, typical warehouse brewery vibes they did have a lot of plants inside too. We wanted to brewery hop around a bit so only ordered one drink each. After a few samples I got the Psychonaut IPA and my fiancé got the newer Star Child IPA. They were both solid and everything I got tasters of I liked making picking what to order difficult. They definitely seem to have pretty high quality beer compared to some other breweries in the city.

Ellen C.

Yelp
The reviews don't lie - Astral Brewery is freaking amazing. Like, are you there right now? Because if not, WHY NOT?! So in all seriousness, this brewery is the bee's knees. I'm not even the biggest beer person, but Astral offers a small selection of cider and wines for people like me. From what I've been told by others, the beer is quite delicious and legit. The selection definitely seems to expand every other week. Like other Yelpers have stated, the staff is pretty swell to boot. Really personal peeps and always eager to help you with your beverage selections. The venue itself is also pretty grand - there's a rather spacious and roomy indoor/covered area and also a smaller patio out front, for when the Houston weather is cooperating. The brewery coordinates also vegan food trucks every Sunday and often during the weekdays, along with other vegan events (huge yay) and I'm wondering why don't more breweries do this? Obviously, this appeals to my interests, but it's an awesome way for Houstonians to try some awesome plant-based foods. I believe there's also a steak night and trivia night too - so there really is something for everyone.

Yelp
My name is RoS MarqueS S, Native Texan, was Assistant to Marvin Zindler. Email is RMarquesS3@outlook.com ( open for invites) This is a great place for ADULTS only to drink. Not recommend for children under the age of 18 , for the reason this place only serve alcoholic beverages and the kind of music played is not recommend to children to listen to as well. The setting place is a open warehouse so the temperature is not pleasant or recommend for babies in baby carrier. Great Place to go if you live on North Shepherd to walk over with friends and have a conversation.

Barret L.

Yelp
Awesome new brewery in Houston. It is very casual and laid back, as breweries should be. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, which is great considering it started raining while we were here this time. Very friendly staff, good beers. I had the Kolsch, which was pretty good! They have board games, ping pong, and bags indoors. They also allow dogs inside. String lights in the yard outside made for a fun home feel. There is also a food truck if you are feeling hungry!

Brad S.

Yelp
We love this local independence brewery! The warehouse style brewery allows kids and dogs both inside and out! Plenty of Sours and IPA's always on rotation and plenty of great food truck vendors always stopping by! Ping pong, jenga, and other board games available. They also have a run club and trivia night!

Quentin H.

Yelp
Messaged ahead to see if I could play ping pong and drink some beer. Asked specifically again if we could play ping pong before buying beer and bartender said she would bring the table out . No problem. Place was not full at all. Other bartender said no go on ping pong, after we bought beers, even though there was ample place all over . All he had to do was move a single tall boy but he would not do it . We used to be regulars but no more . Bad customer service

Moriah H.

Yelp
Love their beers. A great new neighborhood dive. Out of all the breweries I've been to in Houston, I immediately felt at home at Astral. The staff is legit friendly and funny here, very welcoming. There ample outdoor and indoor space. Looking forward to coming back for post-Covid events.

Marina H.

Yelp
Laid back, small brewery that has multiple beers on tap. They do have a guest cider which I really appreciate as a non beer drinker. There are a few games and both indoor and outdoor seating. They had a good truck while we were there.

Starla W.

Yelp
Had so much fun at Astral Brewing. The location is adjacent to another business. It is very cute, dog-friendly location. There are benches to sit at and enjoy your day. Was able to visit for the whatavegan burger fest and it was set up very nicely. The bar was located near the door so you could grab a ddrinj as soon as you walked in. Pub tables are licated in front of the bar to sit at. There werre vendors to shop and numerous food trucks to choose from. Would definitely come back. Such a chill place to kick back!

Jacey L.

Yelp
I have been taking full advantage of the amazing weather, and have visited Astral several weekends in a row. I love that they have a rotating food truck, and a solid beer menu. I tried a flight my first two visits (four pours for $10) and enjoyed a full pour of my favorite (Sun Treader) last weekend. It's a nice warehouse space, and bonus dog watching. They also do different infusion beers (sun treader with mango was crazy good). Also, don't miss the Noche Oscura!

Paul D.

Yelp
A newer brewery in the Houston area, they have refitted a warehouse with air conditioning, a bar, some tables, pub games, and an area outside. Relaxed and spacious inside without being overly loud. Which can be an issue with a lot of warehouse type breweries. Of course they will have food trucks outside, the few times I have been it was a legit taco truck. Everyone working here is great and the brewers specifically (assuming owners as well) are very knowledgeable. Starting out, they have had 6-8 taps. They make an excellent English Golden/Pale Ale, along with a very nice Porter, that seems more English than American. Both very subtle and moreish. They had several IPA's, some West Coast, some NEIPA styles as well as a Kolsh. Everything is well made, and they seem to have nailed subtly, which I always enjoy more than in your face. Another good new neighborhood brewery that has opened. I'll be back when on this side of town. If you are fans of Bailson's, Great Heights, Holler, Sigma, this fits in nicely with that mold.

Ami P.

Yelp
Great selection, friendly staff, and chill atmosphere. This opened a few weeks ago, and will definitely attract a lot of Houstonians. There is plenty of parking spots as well.

Brian W.

Yelp
Came here on the same day as a big event so there was a large crowd but I was still able to enjoy a beer and cider. The cider was really good and so was the solar squeeze. Definitely will come back again especially when it's not so crowded!

Lancer B.

Yelp
Our first time here. Great place. The beer is really good. Can't wait to try them all. Bartender is very nice and welcoming. We will be back.

Jim D.

Yelp
A really comfortable place to enjoy craft brews... They have some unique takes on special brews. I'm from New England and I didn't know that New England pale ales were a thing until now. Still, the pale ales are worth the trip.

Alicia V.

Yelp
Had to stop by on a Wednesday night to try their special release and was not disappointed! This place is so neat and has so much space! They have a Wed night running club which gets you a discount on beers ;)

Monica V.

Yelp
A friend called me as she drove by this place because she was so excited for us to try a new local brewery. A few days later we walked into a lovely surprise. Only open for some months now, there is a good selection of brews. When trying a new brewery, I like to get a flight so its easier to get to know and taste several beers at a time. All great beers so far. The atmosphere is chill and comfortable, lots of space and a food truck outside. I'm really looking forward to seeing this spot grow in the near future. We will be back to try a few more options and maybe pick up a t-shirt.

Bertha O.

Yelp
Great new beers and trivia with our drinks!!! That looks like looks like a great time they have great beer that we have never had before!

Antonio H.

Yelp
large clean area. The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable the service is very good. Now why you came the beer is great rotating food trucks and vegan Sundays. I was impressed by food beer and ambiance from an in imposing strip on North Shepherd. A great choice. A great service and beer.

Nathan S.

Yelp
I was extremely surprised with this brewery. I was not expecting much going in. Beer was awesome! Bartenders were awesome! Great environment!

Kristen H.

Yelp
We loved astral brewing! The beer was delicious and they had a really good selection to choose from. I had the chocolate cake stout and the brain storm sour. They had a good food truck there that we also enjoyed. Definitely will be going back.

Dianna d.

Yelp
Great little neighborhood start-up brewery with kind owners and staff who truly love what they do, everything I tried was well crafted and delicious

Terese P.

Yelp
Neat atmosphere. Loved the murals. Family and dog friendly environment. I really enjoyed the cider. They have plenty of board games and an area set up for kids. The ping pong table was especially fun for us! We will be back.

Abigail A.

Yelp
Amazing neighborhood spot! Super low key with great beer. Friendly staff, tons of seating, lots of parking.

E B.

Yelp
Recent staff turnover is not doing this place any favors. This place can't compete with the Wakefield locations without good staff - and they have let one of the better bartenders go.

Jack v.

Yelp
Beers are improving by the month and there are many beers that are great. Perhaps one of our favorite local breweries at the moment

Dave M.

Yelp
As craft beer drinkers we stopped in as we live in Fulshear. This is an awesome brewery we talked with the owner Alex who is very passionate about beer and wants to please everyone. Service is awesome beer is awesome. Definitely would be back. The bar manager is awesome as well. We will definitely be back.

Risa B.

Yelp
The beer's great. The space is great. Run club on Wednesdays is cool. Love Vegan Sundays and the other rotating food trucks throughout the week.

Cory W.

Yelp
Very fun little brewery! They have ping pong tables, good beers, music, food trucks and games galore. Will definitely return!

Mason C.

Yelp
Astral is a great, small brewery specializing (it seems) in hoppy beers: English and American pale ales and IPA's (hazy and fruited offerings included). They offer flights (lots of offerings), snacks, crowlers to-go, staff is quite personable, and they're VERY dog-friendly. They're definitely worth checking out!

Michael G.

Yelp
Very friendly staff and dog friendly. Spacious and has own parking available. They do have TVs and are houston sports/channel amenable. IPAs were pretty good for a start up brewery. Will be returning!

Shaq D.

Yelp
Got in here the night before the bar shutdown. Some really nice New England and West Coast style IPAs. Atmosphere is industrial cool, like a warehouse or airplane hanger. I'd go back when they reopen.

Laura K.

Yelp
We came here as part of a 40th birthday brewery tour. Great place w super friendly staff and owners! Thank y'all for the tour and tasty brew!
