Astro Burger

A time machine back to the 50s. Beautiful interior reminding of a typical diner from the movies. As it was rather late there was no waiting time for the food. The burger tasted delicious with very natural flavours and a burger patty grilled over charcoal. Definetly a recommendation to visit and taste

Stopped here for breakfast before the Paramount Studio. It was delicious. No frills, just solid breakfast.

This was a nice little burger joint. Located right by Paramount and a couple of other studios, it makes for a perfect pit stop. It's quick, simple and the food is pretty good. I ordered a burger, which wasn't bad. The other time I was in, I ordered the chicken sandwich, which was even better. They also had these fries with feta on them, which were very flavorful. I smothered them with ranch and ketchup, which was a wonderful decision If you plan on dining in, the atmosphere is nothing special. It's much like any other fast food place. Overall, this place is worth visiting, especially if you are looking for something quick and simple.

I was treated to a Christmas Time treat. at Astro Burger. I ordered the Gyros, and large order of Onion rings, with a Strawberry Milk Shake. Delicious. 😀👍👍🌯

I wouldn’t say it’s the best burger I’ve had, but it definitely took me back to a time I’ve never experienced.

Very cool and groovy old style California diner with fantastic burgers cooked fresh to order. We had bacon cheeseburgers and they were absolutely delicious. Staff were helpful and friendly…. we’ll be back.

Ordered the breakfast burger, very delicious, very clean, very retro. Had the feel of a proper American diner. Staff were friendly. Highly recommend.

Been coming here for 20 years. Jeez. Love the milkshake. Burger xtra cheese Fried chicken sandwich extra cheese Breakfast. A few vegetarian options are great. Can't say nothin about the shrimp quesodilla cause I don't mess with seafood. Quit trying to get me to try the seafood anywhere. Knock it off. I'm good. I'm 47. I don't need to try anything new except for alcohol and desserts that aren't too weird like pilates or whatever those small plates of desserts are called at the fancy nancy places. Staff is always friendly. Atm. Clean bathrooms. Ledge can hold phone for bathroom selfies! Has a classic old school look to it. Thank you.

it's a solid burger chain in LA with good portions. it ain't cheap anymore (all american burger combo with fried zucchini and a soda was $23 with card (cash is cheaper) but it was solid and had good flavor. solid place.

Fried chicken dinner - The chicken was over cooked, and tough - nearly burnt in old oil. The fries were soggy, the lettuce in the salad was wilted. No thanks.

Underrated chain restaurant with amazing burger! The patties are always very juicy and has good flavor, and the buns they use are so soft! The onion rings and other appetizers are mediocre in my opinion, but their burgers are absolutely great!

Wow when did onion rings get raised to over 7$.... Remarkable ... I don't think their quality of food is worth what you pay for it...

THEY ARE SO FREAKING NICE!!! I love the service at the drive thru I haven't been inside for a while but drive thru lady is welcome and so so nice.

All my stars are for the service and the milkshake. The veggie burger is resistant to flavor. No onion. No mustard. No flavor to the bun or burger at all. I'm sadly never going back. I got 2 burgers and some fries a drink and it was basically $50. YIKES

Please don't go to this restaurant. I went to drive thru and the lady taking my order charged me for 9 dollars for extra bacon when I thought it came with the sandwich. She did not sat it is extra or anything. I wouldn't leave a review if I didn't feel scam but it seems like they've been doing this for most people (charging people on wrong things) she also put a tip amount without us knowing it as well. I like supporting small businesses but this one is scammy and it's not fair for the business to charge for higher price than the customer ordered.

Service was quick but the food was very mid & definitely not worth the price . Paid $17 for a regular cheeseburger & fries; that's ridiculous. The cheeseburger was ok but the fries had no seasoning & they were hard, definitely not made fresh .

Service was horrible the place dirty overprice and my burger had a hair there was a roach in the bathroom

My fiancé & I have been eating at Astros for years. Always get the same thing. Cheeseburger with leaf lettuce cut in half with chili cheese fries! Yummy!

So good! Looked for a yummy spot that we can get some good food before we head home in a late night and it was so good! A little pricey but the portions are huge!

Love their Athenian salad and the lady at the cashier was very friendly and courteous, will definitely go back.

While studying at YOUBE, I started to get hungry. I noticed Astro Burger across the street. I packed up my things and headed out! I went to their drive-thru and was a bit overwhelmed with all they offer. So I just went with my usual grilled cheese sandwich and a banana milkshake. I didn't wait very long, which was great! I was starving! When I received my order, I immediately jammed the straw in the banana milkshake shake. Unfortunately, I was sooo disappointed with the shake. It tasted more like a vanilla protein shake, yuck! After the first sip, I took a second sip, and I couldn't finish it; it was so gross. The grilled cheese sandwich, however, was top-notch! It was delicious! Just like I like it. Nice and crispy bread, with the right amount of cheese! Yum! I would for sure go back for another grilled cheese, but a BIG no-no to the banana milkshake.

Subpar service, due to the order often being incorrect when you go through the drive-through so beware. Check your order. Also subpar food. Rating 3. Lastly, this morning as I was walking by, I watched who looked like he was probably the owner, spray all the trash from his drive-through into the street, instead of picking it up, Clearly he also doesn't care about the environment or our neighborhood. These were empty potato chip bags that would've been super easy to just pick up versus spraying them into the street. I used to eat here now and then out of convenience of being neighborhood burger spot but I think I am done with all of that.

Remember when this place was cash only? Man, that was tough back in the day when i didn't even have $20 left in my account to pull out. It would be tough even nowadays since I barely ever carry cash on me. So glad this place started take card payments quite a while ago! Anyways, what a weird way to start a review. Sorry about that. So I've been going to this location for over 20 years now. It was always a good place to go with a group that consisted of vegetarians and and people without dietary restrictions since it has both options. And both options are very good! Well, i personally have never ordered the vegetarian options, but I'm told they are good. Pros: Food is bomb! Try the chili cheese fries for sure! Or the turkey melt on sourdough!!! The retro logo on the cups is so sick... Great for pictures for all of you that take pictures of your food. Cons: Probably gonna see a giant billboard of Dr. Phil walking out on your way back to the parking lot. But hey, at least they have a parking lot! Look, I'm saying you should try this place, so please, try this place. Make your tummy happy! =]

WOW. Just had the most delicious dinner experience. Came here bc of my fried zucchini cravings and it was everything I was looking for: crispy, hot, creamy and my god the ranch. I got a large so I could take some home. I love a classic diner burger so I got that and a side of chili cheese fries. The burger had a great smoky flavor and had the classic diner taste which included lettuce, onions, tomatoes, thousand island. The chili cheese fries taste exactly like the Hat!! We also got the western angus burger which comes with a 1/3 lb patty, grilled onions, bacon, bbq sauce. My bf loved this and it was so juicy and rich. Everything came out under 10 minutes and was super hot and fresh. The staff were really nice and helpful as well. We also loved the ambiance - the neon lights, booths, etc. Overall, a really positive experienced and we're definitely coming back!!

Burger wasn't bad actually. It was just ridiculously overpriced. I just don't get it how all these food service establishments now consider themselves to be God's gift to the world to justify charging such absurd prices for simple-ass food.

The burgers and service was great, however the 50 cent surcharge for using a debit card is annoying, who carries much cash these days? It's a cashless society. The place reminds me of a Liquor stores in the ghetto neighborhoods, I'm just really annoyed by it, a double cheese burger is above $10 there's more profit compared to similar places.

Very polite and helpful staff for the drive thru. Good, solid Coffee shop Style food.....great pastrami sandwich and huevos rancheros. Old reliable establishment.

This review is for one cheeseburger in the drive-through. The burger itself was mediocre at best. The size was OK. The price was too expensive, however, that seems to be par for the course these days anywhere you go. But for that price you just get the burger, no fries, onion rings or anything like that. The large soft drink was a whopping four dollars. Plus one star because it was done quickly and the lady at the drive-through was nice. Overall though not great for this one experience.

Astro Burger is next door to Paramount Studios so when I stopped by before striking with SAG-AFTRA and WGA today 7/18/23 I asked if I made a purchase could I please use the restroom. I was told yes so I use the restroom and came out and ordered an ice tea (approximately 20oz cup). It was completely fill with ice and there was hardly any ice tea and they charged me $4.05 cents. So apparently they are charging a surcharge to use the restroom. I guess AMPTP must own them or they just hate people that work at the studios. I WILL NEVER go there again and I am hell bent on spreading the word about the POS owner. I am kicking myself for actually paying for it. I should have left the drink and walked out.

My Husband has been really wanting to give this place a try and he ordered the Astro Burger & chili cheese fries , I got a double cheese burger and large fries , we got our son chicken tenders & we shared a coke . The restaurant itself is very clean , and surprisingly good parking for the location and even has a drive thru . The service was fast and the workers were friendly . Ambiance itself is nice and even decorated nicely BUT THE FOOD was the WORST! I wanted to love this place but personally hated it. The food taste like Fair Food , and it was pretty pricey paid around 50$ for the quality of food it honestly wasn't worth it . We ended up throwing away the fries and barely ate most of our burgers. My burger was soggy and bland , my husband said the chili cheese fries were so bland and worst he's ever had. I tried the chicken tenders and they were okay. Now the only good thing was the Soda I love a fizzy drink and their soda was very fizzy lol. But wouldn't recommend this place nor will I ever be going back , very disappointed. Was hoping to really love it :((

Very average backyard burger. Microscopic menu. There are many way better burger joints to go to.

IN N OUT has few competitors...but for a true flame broiled burger...these guys make a damn good burger!

Used to pop in here in the early 90s after nights of riding and drinking around Hollywood. They had a burger topped with pastrami that could sober up Foster Brooks. Miss this place, and the Hollywood of those days.

I ordered no mayo. Then I asked them to read my order back and they said no mayo and then I got mayo. Come on Astro burger I'm trying to be friends but you are making it so hard.

The owner of this place lost his F mind charging 8$ for a side of sausage. That's 2$ a tiny link. It's absurd. They are pricing per oz as if it's wagu at Mastros. The first price raise was a bit uncalled for. The second was offensive and this third price range is just down right OBNOXIOUS. I have been a loyal customer for 20 years and I PROMISE YOU. I will NEVER eat at this place again.

Breakfast was actually uncharacteristically bad . My bacon and eggs were old and the waffle was microwave warmed. I'll try them again but wont order ahead

This burger joint and service was OK, I wasn't all that impressed but it wasn't bad either. I do want to come back and try other things to see if I like other options. I do however, like the fact that they have a drive through. It's so convenient.

The employees I spoke to were all kind, and very helpful/patient when it came to their large menu. Perhaps it's because I haven't had a burger in awhile, but that first bite was insane. By the time I wish finishing it I was like "ah yes okay a good ol' diner burger." Satisfying. Those fries got a nice CRISP to them! It wasn't too busy when I went around 2 or 3 on Monday, so I got to sit outside and read for awhile. It was a nice outdoor patio.

I normally try not to leave bad reviews, but after being charged $26.25 for a pastrami sandwich fries and Coke, I feel it's needed. They claim to have the best pastrami and I'll disagree. The meat and bread are dry, I asked for Mayo instead of mustard and it was barely noticeable. For 14 plus dollars you think it would have more meat but nope, that's how the sandwich came. The fries I asked for well done and were no where near being that but ok once I added salt. I'm sure I will never be coming back here again, over priced and under delivered

I was highly disappointed, I stopped by for a large order of fries and a drink. The large of order of fries was more like a small order of fries with no seasoning no flavor at all. The worst fries I have ever had. I would have been happier to get my fries at McDonald's or Jack in the box.

Two cheeseburger combos via the drive thru was $40. I thought that was a lot. The receipt wasn't itemized...? Fries weren't salted. My cheeseburger was over cooked. I learned my lesson coming here

I had the Maui burger Gardenburger it had pineapple and onions on it I really enjoyed it. The people working there were all very rude. We were close to closing time and they wouldn't let us eat on the outside patio while they were doing their shut down. They kept telling us we had to leave even though it wasn't closing time yet and they were still there cleaning up.

Excellent service. That's my first note. Then, aside from the mouth-watering burgers, you can find anything Greek. I love this combo, some classic American items and some variety of Greek dishes. Definitely a type of place I fancy just because of that! Reminds me of The Mad Greek near the CA-NV border. The meals here will cost you, that's where it loses a star. To offset the high price(s), there are idiosyncrasies like old school soda pop bottles, a drive-thru, & a decent patio right on Melrose Ave. Altogether, it's worth it. Thank you much, Astro Burger. affordable, delicious, and super large menu! hard to find an affordable veg burger place in LA, and on top of that it's just an overall great place. the service is fast, the parking is good, and the staff is super lovely! idk why they have all these mid reviews, i come here a few times a night and can never think of anything to complain about. love to support local small businesses.

I had just tried the WeHo in Astroburger and I was on my way back and saw the Melrose Astroburger and decided to try this location out, see if it was any different. There seemed to be a few minor differences but not much. However, I was there early enough for breakfast so I got their breakfast burrito and fries. The burrito was ok and the fries weren't as crispy or well seasoned as the WeHo location. In addition they do take credit cards but they also charge a percentage. It's good, but the WeHo location is closer and their menu has a little more depth.

The food here really isn't good enough to make the subpar customer service worthwhile. I didn't feel like they wanted me there, so I won't be back.

Bought over $16 pastrami sandwich but did not know it's for kids, hardly any meat on it will NEVER GO BACK to this place again.

Quick review of this timeless classic. I feel like I have been part of history by finally going to Astro Burger. I was looking for a good burger that wasn't too unhealthy or "fast food" like. I really like Golden State and Uncool, but both are currently closed. Astro Burger seems to be in the middle a bit. It is obviously still fast food, but you get the sense they use good ingredients, and their site says they use trans-fat free cooking oil which is a good sign. I got a double burger with fries with only ketchup (I'm a purist). The burger was pretty good. I couldn't stop shoveling the food in and it's been a long time since I have been to a place where my brain is like (eat this immediately). It wasn't that it tasted like the best burger ever or anything, but something about the combination really seemed to appeal and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was expecting the pricing to be a little lower, but I guess with the double patty that got it to around $12. I enjoyed eating out on the nice courtyard at the Melrose location. My body wasn't too happy afterwards (as I am used to eating really healthy organic food), but that one is on me haha. I am giving them 5 stars for doing what they do really well. The inside also looked really cute and I wouldn't mind checking it out sometime when things open again. The next time you are thinking of going to a place like Shake Shack, go here instead and enjoy this LA classic.

Used the drive-thru 20 mins before closing time on Thursday night. Tried ordering a salmon burger and was told grill was already cooling off so my order could not be fulfilled. Lady working the drive-thru recommended I order a cheeseburger or chicken sandwich. This made me wonder if those items were already pre-cooked or microwaved since they were not going to cook it on the grill. I ordered a veggie burger, sweet potato fries, and a cheeseburger. All items were not warm. Buns were dry. Fries were soggy. Food was definitely rushed as it seemed like cooks wanted to close for the night ASAP. It was hard to enjoy the food. Very disappointed. Sadly, I will think twice about coming here.

This location is close to my current office so I thought I'd grab a quick late lunch on my way home. I love a good chili cheeseburger but this was one of the worst I've had in Los Angeles. The chili was so watery and flavorless. It soaked the bun making it soggy and hard to eat. Only stomached about a third of it before I just threw it away.

The best place for quality quick food in town. Much better than any other drive-thru place and far superior to any diner food. Delicious breakfast plates and the best Avgolemono soup. Huge menu selections and they offer vegetarian as well.

Terrific BLT with avocado sandwich. Bacon was freshly cooked! Our bicycle group stopped to eat on a Wednesday mid-morning

It's fine for a quick basic meal. Up until May 25, 2023, the most interesting thing about it was that it was across the street from the studio where they filmed the Dr. Phil Show. We saw the big signs while we were eating.

This place offers all the elements of a family resteraunt. With many choices here as a vegetarian, you'll find there's something for you and for someone that's non-vegetarian. They have it all!! Absolutely loved the vegetarian menu. When I left, I was sad to know where I live, we have no Astro Burger closeby. I ordered a Salmon burger which was tasty. Didn't expect to see that on the menu, but glad it was. A friend ordered the vegan chillie cheese fries, so was able to try that. As expected, it was delicious! Another friend ordered a shrimp quesadilla that looked appetizing. Place was clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Greeted with smiles, my friends and I knew we were in good hands here. After a long day of walking around, my friends and I stopped in rather late in evening, so it was nice to know they were open late.

I enjoyed my Astro burger. Full of taste & flavor. I also tried their chocolate shake. 8.5/10. Delicious.
