The 33 Best Late Night Restaurants In Los Angeles

"When it comes to late-night Silver Lake, you have two options: drive to another neighborhood or go to Astro’s. Located on the corner of Fletcher and Glendale Blvd., this old-school diner was built in the kitschy 1960s Googie style, complete with pink leather booths, etched glass, and of course, a giant sign out front. Open 24 hours, seven days a week, come at any time and you’ll see seniors grabbing a coffee and eating steak and eggs, people passing through after work, and whoever has drifted over from the giant Whole Foods next door." - brant cox, arden shore, nikko duren, sylvio martins, garrett snyder

Astro Family Restaurant is straight out of a time capsule — in the best way. It’s one of those iconic old-school diners that feels like you’ve stepped back a few decades, and honestly? We need more spots like this. I rolled in after 1AM for a late-night work break, and it hit the exact vibe I was looking for — quiet, chill, plenty of parking, and staff that’s cool with you just soaking it all in. First thing we did (don’t judge) was grab a slice of pecan pie before the meal — absolute W. I got the breakfast burrito and swapped the ham for sausage. Portion was wild — had leftovers that held me down for another meal the next day. Coffee? Endless refills. Fuel for the grind. This is the go-to spot if you’re looking for a lowkey, late-night hangout or a cozy brunch joint that doesn’t feel corporate or forced. Vibes are authentic. Food is fire. Staff is chill. And the history? You can feel it in the walls. Lowkey thinking about doing some content here soon — it’s got that nostalgic aesthetic that just pops on camera.

Vibe straight out of a movie, literally. Awesome looks, even better food. Our waiter was nice as well. Cute little lady helps you cash out. Ate here to end our L.A. trip and it was perfect. Truly a gem. There used to be places like this all over the country sadly they are disappearing.

the best spaghetti and meatballs i’ve ever had, kindly served to me by Bertín (i believe that’s his name??) at 1am. cozy and delicious with a charismatic, attentive server. all i ever want in a diner. please stay open 24hrs for forever

This blast from the past diner is a local gem! Historic place with some modern additions (televisions) and modern menu for today's cultural tastes. The service was welcoming and the food was tasty 😋 One thing I noticed was they do not use too much salt as most restaurants do; the chef knows how to bring out the natural flavors in the food which was an unexpected but pleasant surprise from an old diner 🙂

Google
Old school diner feel and the food is pretty good. Better ingredients than most from what I can tell. You might have to season things yourself but at least you can make it how you need or want it. Portions are kind of big, so you get your money's worth. Service is some of the friendliest you ever find.

Google
Great neighborhood restaurant. Friendly atmosphere. Food is good although they can up their game on the salad and dressing. My blue cheese wasn't as rich and zesty like I'm used to. We would come back again.

I am glad to pick a good place to celebrate my mom’s birthday. This place has that Sunday morning kind of feel that brings you back to your childhood. It made me forget the problems I had and made me focus on the now: a wonderful birthday breakfast with my mom. Not a lot of places do that nowadays. This place has a nice mid century type of ambiance that takes you back in time. The staff are amazing and the food plentiful (see pic!). I usually finish my meals but this one was too much for me. The best part about this place is you get your food ready in 15 minutes or less. Atleast that was my experience. Don’t worry about parking. Plenty in their property. However, on a busy day, maybe you would have to do street parking but still plenty of those too.

Google
I have always enjoyed the food, atmosphere and staff at any of the Astro Family Restaurants. This morning I had Three eggs over medium hash browns hamburger pattie and sourdough toast! A perfect breakfast! You won't leave hungry!

Yelp
I've been coming to Astro for over 20 years and I'm so glad they are surviving. I love the Googie architecture, it reminds of better times in Los Angeles. The food and service has always been fine to me. It's diner fare and it's good, I've never had a problem. It's part of the pantheon of old school diners in L.A., that are not part of a chain. My favorite dish has always been their chilaquiles, but I recommend Astro definitely for breakfast. I'm glad they have refurbished the back room as well, as I wasn't crazy about the carpet that was there before. I haven't sat back there yet, since they updated, but hope I will soon.

Yelp
I've loved Astro since 1989. For eggs and burgers it's difficult to do better. Lovely staff, comfy booths, dependably open. Three things are ruining this establishment, 1. The 24/7 blaring television 2. Antiquated ingredients 3. Their delivery is just awful I carefully selected a custom omelette that looked like shit on a shingle See image. My companion ordered the ever dependable burger which had the lettuce and tomato on hot side of bun. Details matter when you specialize in just two things.

Yelp
Came in for a late lunch on a weekday and there was plenty of seating. We specifically came in wanting breakfast foods, and found Astro's had all-day breakfast. The diner felt clean and ambiance was really cozy and nice. The staff was really sweet and we felt well taken care of. This was the perfect spot to fulfill our desire for a cozy, classic breakfast. Our food was prepared well and straightforward, no complaints. I'm hoping to come back to try one of their dinner items someday. There's a large parking lot, but admittedly the intersection the restaurant is located on can be a bit of a mess depending on where you're coming from haha.

Yelp
Always a good meal and the service is outstanding. Worth the drive to eat at this establishment- 24 hours a day!! Food was quick, hot and just right!!

Yelp
Great Coffee to accompany the huge portions! Came in with my friend who luckily lives close by . I had the biggest breakfast ever! Great servers who take care of your needs. Parking is behind the building.

Yelp
Cute place and it's open 24 hrs but otherwise it doesn't have much going. I haven't had a burger that horrifyingly bad since the junior high cafeteria. The grease was old judging by the fries, coleslaw had no flavor at all and the shake was runny. Truly inedible and I'm really not that picky. The service is always super slow and everything is overpriced. A good spot after a night of drinking but otherwise, not worth the trip.

Yelp
I have been coming here for the last couple of years. It's open late, has parking, and outdoor seating. The staff is very nice. They are happy to split checks, and you just have to pay in the front. They take apple pay. The food is hit and miss honestly. It's a diner though, so don't come in with high expectations. The only things I've liked are the fish and chips, lentil soup, and country fried steak.

Yelp
Came by here Sunday night and ordered the Sunday Baked Chicken dinner. It wasn't very busy. I got my salad right away and was enjoying it until I found a bottle cap at the bottom of the salad. I told my server and he said "Oh my god" and he took it away. That was it. Then my chicken dinner. It was really dry and on top of this strange stuffing with raisins. I ended up taking the really dry part home for one of my cat. It was overall okay. I'm surprised that tmi didn't get an apology or an offer for a replacement. Anyways....

Yelp
I love this homey diner. The prices are a bit steep for diner food but you get what you're expecting to get. They have a huge and extensive menu and everything I've tried has been at least a B quality and fresh/hot. The dudes who work here deal with a lot of drunkies and while not always the fastest service do a great job and deliver. This is a go-to late nice spot and I will never not sing their praises.

Yelp
Very Welcoming Oasis in SilverLake... It's been years (over 10?) since been back to Astros . Only had dessert s. It was a moderate amount of folx, beautiful SilverLake people.Mama had a fruit pie, better than my Aunt's pies, or at least as tasty. It was ala mode . Delicious due to a lot of lard (manteca) in the crust. She needed to recover a bit ,so this filled her with happiness. I looked at their famous circular cake & pie display. I saw a chocolate cake that looked sooo good. It was not the ultimate chocolate cake, but it was very adequate. The coffee was slightly bitter after taste being on the burner too long. I gave Astro top rating based on our lovely server She's Asian woman w/glasses. She is Thai & I'm sure she has been here a long time. Priority to have a lunch or dinner for a future food review.

Yelp
The latest entry in my relentless pursuit of silver linings & pretending I don't live in a failed state, i give you Astro Family Restaurant. A diner where a bottomless cup of Columbian Coffee, as good or better than #Starfucks, for $3.45 Old fashioned seating counter or large roomy booths.

Yelp
Our server was friendly, hospitable and attentive. I forgot to get her name. We ordered 2 fried chicken plates with Cole slaw and mashed potatoes, cheeseburger with french fries, and a turkey dinner, with drinks. The food was delicious. By the time we were eating our desserts, the diner was very busy. Great place to eat and chat. It's open 24 hours.

Yelp
A buddy and I are doing this monthly classic diner or burger spot dinner thing. This month Astros. Classic old school diner decor inside: glass pie case when you enter, counter and booths. We sat in the back part of the restaurant, there was only one other group sat back there. Probably should have sat in the front near the windows, as it felt like the waitress forgot about us for a bit. The service turned around after, and really was quite good. The beers came quickly after we ordered the,, complete with frosty glasses. A really nice touch (and it's been a while since I got a beer with a frosty mug). The food followed in good time after that. I got the Hot Roast Beef open sandwich with mash and coleslaw and my buddy ordered the Astro Burger with fries. The mash, gravy and coleslaw were solid. The roast beef was a little stringy, but still good. The burger looked hearty and, according to my buddy, quite tasty. Those fries though. Excellent. I mean, a real surprise. Maybe the best fries I've had somewhere in LA in a long time. Just salty enough and perfectly cooked. $60 out the door for two. Not at all bad in LA. Astro's is a solid old school diner here in North East LA. Well worth a trip.

Yelp
my dad would bring us here weekly growing up, i came back after 20 years or so & it looks the same as it used to :') our food was brought very quickly even though there was a full house. waiters are super quick and friendly.

Yelp
This is one of the best places for diner style food in Los Angeles. The Googie Architecture is still in full effect and the Chow reminds me of my childhood. What's even more awesome about this place, they never close. Their open 27 hours a day, 7 days a week. You must try Astro's.

Yelp
After a friend had to cancel for dinner, I decided to leave. The supposed manager followed me into the parking lot and cussed me out the put her hands against the hood of my car and blocked me from leaving because she was mad I left without ordering. I saw she was still screaming at me and when I finally rolled down my window I heard she was screaming "mother F*er!" and "Cheap A**hole!" I was in complete shock and I have been coming here regularly for YEARS with my family. I will never, ever come back here and I strongly recommend to stay clear of this place if that's how the treat there long standing customers.

Andrea C.

Yelp
Terrible place to come to try and study. They advertise free wifi but the waiters get super weird and annoyed that you ask for the password. They each give you different answers. It's not like I'm there to waste their time either I ordered a meal and a drink. The waiter barked at me when I ordered food to top it all off. They're all old miserable people here. Worse than being at a hospital. Noooo thanks

Yelp
service was great all of the staff was super friendly and attentive. food was good ordered a few things and split it between two people. orange juice was fresh squeezed 10/10. the restaurant vibe itself is your classic cute little diner with indoor and outdoor seating.

Yelp
For owner's reference, so staff may be coached to enhance customer experience: I had a TERRIBLE experience last Saturday 08/31 early morning. It wasn't bad at all first 2 hours I was there; great customer service by the night crew and waiter. I sat by the round table seat area as I HAD to do some work. I had my laptop with me and mouse (please tell me if there is a written policy againts that because I was treated as if there was?) I came for the first time to Astro Family precisely because I saw that it is a 24/7 restaurant that even is recommended by a source online. I went and sat and of course I ordered something to eat, breakfast and coffee, spent over $30 total and simply continued working from 2:30 ish until after 5 a.m. At that point is where I experienced an issue, with the incoming day manager (I believe) María started her shift. She looked at me and not long after the told me I HAD to move and take all my stuff with me because they had to clean the whole area (ok?). I was in a corner table, ate at another table earlier, and mine was completely clean...I was working on my computer. Also, why exactly did I have to move and stand up so it would be cleaned? Do they clean blowing up dust with leafblowers? That's wasn't the case barely a broom and tables wiped, so I was clearly KICKED OUT of the area for no apparent reason. She kicked me out, Maria wanted me gone. I had spent about 2 to 3 hours there and consumed (is that a crime?, is it written I have to dine and dash quickly somewhere? Please explain). Ok great, I stood up and took my stuff as she KICKED ME OUT that area, it seems she was hoping I would leave the restaurant entirely but didn't, I went to another (remote) corner on the other edge, again not disturbing absolutely no one, not a sound. I continued doing some work for about 1.5 hour more...waiting for a commitment for which I would leave at 6:30 am I clearly remember, so less thsn 4 hours total and consumed over $30. Minding my business, I noticed the additional waitress that was not there earlier in the night, don't have her name but recall "goldish" hair. I noticed she was being a sweetheart basically with two gentlements two tables from me; constantly checking in on them asking if they needed more coffee and refilling more than once while COMPLETELY ignoring me; I also had a cup of coffee at that point empty. So I called her asking if she could; barely looked my direction and IGNORED my question and left. Shortly after María came by to tell me, as incredible as it sounds: "WE CAN'T REFILL YOUR COFFEE BECAUSE YOU HAVE BEEN TOO LONG HERE", and "YOU ARE TAKING UP SPACE as it is a busy weekend" What? Space from whom exactly at 6:00 am saturday? The other 3 or 4 people in the entire restaurant? From them? Without talking to anyone how exactly am I a disruption!? I was not even chargin my laptop because from where they KICKED ME OUT was the only working outlet I ever found there. Upset, I stated I didn't need the coffee pointing out the absurdity. At this point I felt profiled, discriminated. ONE OF THE WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCES I HAVE EVER HAD THE DISPLESSURE OF ENCOUNTERING, and these conversations in spanish being my toungue yet I am clearly fully bilingual and educated, not sure why I was treated this way. And I said so sfter this experience I directly approached and asked her on my way out where is it written I cannot stay more than 1 or 2 hours? and where is it written on the restaurant's policy I will be MISTREATED, refused service and ignored simple offers such as coffee refills other customers do receive? I wanted to know if it was written somewhere so it would make sense. Herself, the waitress, and an additional tall employee who appears to be a cook, in a group, "ganged up" on me justifying the mistreatment and me being ingored, refused service I saw others get; stating that I OWED them for staying too long (what?), and the man saying parking lot has a sign that says "no more than 2 hrs" IF I had parked there WHICH I DIDN'T. I threw a $5 bill saying "is this enough?" and left!

Yelp
This place has a lot of history and it's a staple of the area. The menu is huge and the food is great for the prices. Great place to take family that are visiting.

Yelp
My family and cousins were looking for a place to eat after a Clippers game and we found Astro Family restaurant. What an awesome local diner! Even better it's 24/7. As you enter the restaurant, this place screams 1970s. Everything inside tells you this place was from 50 years ago. And that's okay because that's the charm of this place. We came in at 11pm and it wasn't too busy as we were seated right away. The service is pretty good as our server was very attentive and went above and beyond a few times. He saw several of my family and cousins ordered coke so he brought a pitcher of coke for us. That was awesome! And when the kitchen staff messed up our orders he gave us free extra pancakes. So cool! Now on to the food! - since I'm a burger guy I had to try their Hamburger Club Sandwich. Basically it's a BLT but with a burger patty added to it. All I can say is what a great idea it was! The burger Patty definitely makes a BLT sandwich better IMO. It was so good! - my wife tried the Italian eggs and she thought it was awesome. For her she said it was a bruschetta with eggs which she never had before. Super good! - my son had pancakes and he loved them. I tried some of it and thought it was pretty good. They tasted similar IHOP pancakes which to me is a good thing since my son and I love IHOP pancakes. Only thing I'm going to knock down a star for this place is how my cousins orders were all wrong. They all got the six shooter breakfast with certain request but each request wasn't fulfilled the first time. Had to send back all those plates unfortunately but at least it was fixed the 2nd time around. But when they got the correct dishes they ordered and ate them, they all enjoyed it. Of course because of the mix-up earlier we got extra pancakes. Pancakes always makes any situation better haha. So overall this is a diner worth checking out. For my family, this will be one of our late night go to spots when we're hungry.

Yelp
Just go to a Denny's. Astro misses the point of what a diner should be: a cozy spot where you can sip a coffee or indulge in a variety of greasy spoon classics at a price that makes you comfortable leaving some cash on the table as a tribute to the welcoming service you'd usually experience at a place like this. Diners are a classic staple of American culture amongst road trip pit stoppers and locals alike. Astro has the right bones but lacks the guts to be what it is. Its prices are unjustifiably high for the lackluster "I could've just made this at home" style cuisine and the thoroughly unwelcoming and misleading staff. I've been there twice and that was two times too many, told only the second time about a "mandatory bill minimum" as a greeting by my visibly embittered waiter who seemed to delight in relaying this apparent policy after I'd taken my seat in a booth. I'll always give a locally owned restaurant the benefit of the doubt, but they'd gotten my order wrong on my first experience, and this time they'd told me I'd have to order a certain dollar amount before saying hello- At a diner. Feeling suddenly and thoroughly unwelcome, I ordered minimally. And when I checked out? Wouldn't you know it? Zero issue logistically for a tab under $25 per seat. I live within walking distance, but I insist on avoiding this place whenever anyone asks me for suggestions for local eats. This place isn't it, but it could've been, and that's the real loss about Astro.

Yelp
Date of visit: July 31st, 2022 Parking: They have a lot and street parking available Food and Drinks: Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo The serving was huge for me and there was a lot of chicken and creamy sauce for the dish. Came with a side of garlic bread and chose the chicken noodle soup to go along with my dish. Experience: Second time coming here and it's a nice late night spot to go to, especially after an event with a group of friends. We got a corner booth this time and we're served fairly quickly since we had come in at a slow time for the night. The server was nice as well.

Yelp
This place is a staple in Silverlake! Good service and love the vibe here, especially on late nights. The Star works hard on Friday nights. Onion rings and burger were great. Would advise to not get the polish sausage for eggs. Stick to the easy basics!

Victoria K.

Yelp
I visited this establishment in May 16th and was very pleased with the water experience. Tall glasses of cold, ice water were served to the table and refilled. Excellent.

Yelp
24 hour diner. Got what we expected. Finally checked it out after living close for 2 years. It was fine. Won't go rushing back, but it was fun with the old school vibe!

Zenaida T.

Yelp
I have lived in the area for nearly 40 years and only once have we visited this place and it was a many many years ago. Yesterday, Sunday, our son took us there for breakfast and I was amazed how it exceeded my expectation. Their orange juice is fresh squeezed as I was seated facing the machine and one of the staff keeps adding fresh oranges. I even ordered a to go orange juice. This place is way better than the popular breakfast pancake places . Astro is now our go to especially for breakfast.

Laurie W.

Yelp
I love this place. It's such a classic diner, it feels like you're in another time when you're there. The patio is adorable. Everyone is always so nice. I only get one thing. The patty melt made with a beyond burger. Fries and cole slaw on the side. Ask to add tomato slices to the sandwich and a side of ranch and thousand island. Don't forget the yellow mustard. Is it the best food you've ever eaten? No, of course not, but for this particular meal at this particular cutie pie diner? It's perfect. And still open 24 hours, which is definitely a rarity in the world these days.

Isaac R.

Yelp
This place stinks the food is overpriced and it doesn't taste fresh bacon was hard as a rock and crunchy not made fresh and everything lacked flavor. Our waiter was dismissive and not nice and didn't check on us after our food was out . Overall I would avoid this place and just go to IHOP or any other breakfast spot!

Yelp
I was pressed about ordering food when I was not even given a menu to choose from after sitting down. I had met up with two other people, and they had already been there prior to me arriving and had already ordered food to meet the rigid $15 dollar requirement. The waitress serving our table was overly persistent about me ordering, as if I was not going to order. It reached a point to where it was so rude and absolutely unnecessary. I explained to her that I wasn't given a menu, and even after getting one, she didn't give me enough time to make my decision, I had to tell her that I'm still looking at the menu, and instead of being patient and respecting my wishes to give me more time to order, she looked visibly bothered and gave me a whole speech about how this is a requirement every customer has to abide by, something I already knew because she had already mentioned it like twice to me, and she expanded on how this is her job, she's just following the rules, and she told me she already came to the table three times, even though those times she took the order from my other guests, not me, and didn't even give me a menu until the last time she visited. This persistence honestly could've ended, but she took it a step beyond, and said "ok I'm going to get the manager to talk to you". Like are you kidding me? I just said I needed more time, you barely gave me the menu, and now I have to have management talk to me? This is straight up harassment. And then management came to talk to me to simply ask if I was going to order, she didn't seem persistent at all, which counters the narrative of the waitress that made it seem like there would be dire consequences for her if I didn't order immediately. I told management I needed more time, and she was ok with it and left. I blame the employer for this rigid $15 policy and the management for enforcing it the way they do if the waitresses and waiters think it is ok to harass people and treat them as if they were just there to take up space and not buy anything. This is not a way to create a welcoming environment. This makes me never want to come and eat here again. This was honestly an embarrassing experience, and I could tell it made my guests uncomfortable too by the look on their faces. I didn't want to start issues, or escalate the confrontation further, so I did not say anything right then and there, but judging from the other reviews, this is not an exceptional experience. The burden is on the management and employer to take these reviews seriously, this is not the way to run a restaurant.

Deb S.

Yelp
There is a lot of parking here and it's easy to find. The pasta primavera is to die for. we get it every time we are in the area. Service is great. Servers are friendly and food comes out quickly and hot. Recommend this place for breakfast lunch or dinner

Avery R.

Yelp
update to my previous review and after taking the opportunity to try this diner one last time yet again another parking miss hap but with a COOK who felt it was okay to harass a customer while parking! I can't with this place at this point they drive all there own paying customers away. sending the health department to this restaurant at this point because the amount of roaches walking around with the waiters unwilling to do anything is unbelievable. not to mention the unbelievable prices for food any diner can make
google avatar

Noah N.

Yelp
Food was Ummmkay but the server is usually alone and it really makes the experience pretty bad. Worst part was the server apologizing for such bad service and then asking right away for a tip while in front of my company of friends. This was disgusting and I understand life and all but you are not a good member of the community when you do that knowing dam well you don't even deserve to be working there even.
google avatar

Vaani S.

Yelp
I was in LA recently and ordered breakfast from here over Doordash, to my hotel room. I am just not a fan, the hollandaise was too lemony, borderline sour. The eggs and hash were bland. I felt like I was just stuffing my face for calories more than taste. I was in a rush and that was my reason to order ahead of time, otherwise, I wouldn't have eaten this food. Just do yourself a favor and don't order here.

Noah S.

Yelp
I went here for breakfast for dinner once because it looks cool on the outside. On the inside too it's alright, no frills and they aren't really trying to reach too hard. The pancake and chilaquiles were okay, but maybe I need to go again at proper breakfast time. Service was good tho, but there weren't many people
google avatar

Aaron C.

Yelp
A really good classic American Diner. Meatloaf and potatoes, bacon and eggs, burger and fries, all fantastic in flavor and portion. If you like hamburger you can't go wrong ordering here. Besides the classic burger and fries, I also enjoy the breakfast plate that includes a hamburger patty with eggs, hash-browns, and toast. The cooks really know their stuff.

Yelp
This place is hands down one of the best burger spots in town. I usually for for the potato steak and eggs breakfast In the morning, it's great. Plus the retro/vintage diner aesthetics makes you feel like you stepped into a time capsule!

Yelp
This place is total diner food in a historic (and slightly rundown) setting. Know what you're getting into and love it for that. The food was solid, especially if you go for the diner standards - breakfast, burgers, etc. Service was quick enough, although a check-in or two more would have been nice. Parking is easy enough. I would go back.

Yelp
On this thanksgiving week I had a hankering for a good ole fashioned diner hot turkey dinner. Having grown up in NJ, the land of diners, I consider myself an expert on all things diner-- no great flex, I know. Anyway, a good diner turkey diner needs real of the bone turkey, a thick slice of jellied cranberry sauce, potatoes of your choice-- mine always well done fries, and lot and lots of gravy over all of it. Not only did Astro have all that perfectly prepared, they also had very tasty kitchen made stuffing, and fresh veggies. On top of this the service was fast. nice and attentive. The only slight ding is the price, this dish that's about $12 at a NJ diner was $25. That's the price of an entree at a white table cloth restaurant-- even in LA....so a bit pricey considering it's a diner. But that said, I may have to suck it up and pay up on the regular-- that's how much I liked this joint.

Yelp
As you all know, I love supporting family-owned businesses, especially when I grew up going to this place after church since I was nine [church across the street]. Anyhoo, I woke up this morning and invited my friend to have coffee. I thought of Astros because of the nostalgic value. So I walk in and go sit in a booth. The restaurant was practically empty. The hostess, who, if it is the same person I think of, has been there forever and a day. Walks up to me with the menu. I said I just wanted coffee. She told me I had to buy food to sit at the booth. I said no, thank you, I'll have coffee. I had yet to ask my friend whom I was trying to impress with this place. Needless to say, my friend came in and told me she was thinking of having breakfast. I took out my computer to show her a design I was working on, and the hostess rushed to our table, concerned that I would work at that booth. I was annoyed by her rude behavior. I have never been targeted this way, especially at Astros. It was demeaning, but I told her to let me enjoy my coffee. What became more upsetting and apparently clear as we sat there was that we felt profiled, 2 grown middle-aged minority business owners; it's not like we looked unkempt or disheveled. We were just a minority. So, while we sat there trying to move past the uncomfortable atmosphere. We saw people start to trickle in. We noticed the hostess had no problem with them sitting at the booths and ordering coffee. One guy brought out his laptop and set himself up to do him; he was not pressured to buy anything and sat there working on his computer, drinking coffee with no questions asked. Not one of the caucasian people who came in was treated in such a demeaning manner. They were allowed to be in peace, no questions asked; my friend decided against having food because of the earlier scene. I never had my coffee refilled; my friend was brought a cup of water with that IDC energy. The whole visit was a complete disappointment, and it definitely changed my view and memories of this place. When my friend left. I spoke to the hostess and explained that her behavior was unreasonable, and she told me she did nothing wrong. I asked to talk to the owner but was told to wait. I waited a reasonable amount of time and then asked again if he was available. She told me he was on the phone. Then the other waitress informed me I would have to wait a half hour to speak to him. I declined the offer; I had already wasted my time coming here. This is a sad review to leave for a place full of memories for me; so that I am clear, I felt discriminated against and targeted as I have never in my 41 years visiting this place been made to feel less, and my friend sadly felt the same way, never again.

Yelp
I'm a sucker for a diner. I think they are such an American institution and all of them need to be preserved. I've driven by Astro for years and finally decided to stop in. As soon as you walk in you fall in love with the nostalgia of the place. There still pies by the register and the quintessential countertop dining. What better way to try out a classic diner then to order a classic menu item, the cheeseburger. It came out hot and flavorful just a little bit dry. The onion rings were so yummy but a little bit cold. The sad thing was it was Saturday at 8 PM and there was only about six tables dining. I know our food dining experiences have changed but these nostalgic diners do need to be preserved. I'm going to make a point to visit them more often.

Yelp
I have no idea why I even gave my order because the so called chiefs in the kitchen don't even READ the orders was 100% completely wrong The menu prices are $20 dollars and up and I thought it was a joke when I say on the menu to be charging $30 dollars for a steak dinner at a rundown out of date family restaurant to think you can charge Beverly Hill prices like that the owner is seriously crazy You're charging $30 dollars for most of your dinners, you better have celebrities and well known people eating at your restaurant and if you don't its just a low class restaurant charging high end prices thinking they are something When the waitress asked me if I wanted to send my meals back? what is the point of writing down an order and making a completely different meals and wanting your customers to PAY for the wrong made meals?????

Yelp
I've been going to Astros for years and years. It's always represented that cozy neighborhood diner type restaurant with a full menu of home style dishes. This evening hit the comfort food spot with a Turkey and gravy open faced sandwich with mashed potatoes, cranberry and veggies. We also ordered a Meatloaf and gravy open faced sandwich with mashed potatoes and veggies. Both had huge servings and it was so satisfying. There's enough left over for part 2 or lunch sandwiches tomorrow! I love Astros and the people who work there.

Yelp
We love Astro! It's one of our go to spots for top notch diner food. The portions are also huge! Their breakfast is equally as delicious as their dinner options. The dining room environment is cozy and relaxing and I love the retro booths and breakfast bar. They also play great golden era oldies, which goes perfectly with the relaxed environment. The staff is always incredibly friendly and sweet! I also highly recommend their carrot cake and pies!

Yelp
5 Stars due to the fact that this is a 24 hour diner in Los Angeles. Even before the pandy, these were a dying breed. A lot of my favorites are long gone. Astro remains a convenient option for late night dining--as all my better options have vaporized. The food is standard diner fare--it covers the basics and then some. I *DARE* you to order the clam chowder. Being a coward, I chose the standard turkey dinner and it was just as I expected--some thin slices of turkey breast over a bed of stuffing with buttery mashed potatoes and fake cranberry sauce that looks like The Blob in the 3rd act of the (excellent) '80s remake. I'd probably choose other spots during the day. But at 2 AM--this is pretty much your only choice in the area. Patronize it and keep it alive!

Yelp
The place is not what it used to be. Restroom was a mess, no soap in the dispenser, Ordered a pork chop, turns out it came out with purple spots. Service was ok
