General Election 2019 | Where to Eat in Finchley and Golders Green | Eater London

"Maybe the strangest location of all the Atariyas, this outpost by the North Circular looks like a produce shop from the outside (and is), but it is also possible to sit down at the bar and eat good sushi at a discount price." - Jonathan Nunn

This branch offers dine-in service with seating available, but most of the seats are high bar stools, which aren’t very comfortable. After eating, you can also buy some Japanese ingredients. The menu mainly includes sushi, sashimi, and rolls. It’s a semi-self-service setup, after placing your order, you’ll need to grab your own chopsticks and soy sauce. The salmon sashimi is quite fresh, the tempura prawn in the prawn rolls is crispy and tasty, and the teriyaki chicken roll was such a hit that the kids kept asking for more. The best recommendation is the tuna Gunkan—no sinews, melts in your mouth, absolutely delicious! This place is worth visiting again. The prices are reasonable, and the food is fresh. However, sushi sets have a 10% discount every Friday!

One of the best sushi places! The staff are super welcoming, it’s a cosy place and makes you feel welcomed ☺️ they’ve also given me a complementary sushi 🍣🩷

Difficult but had to give 4 out of 5 because of a few cons. Very good sushi, decent prices. Service is great. But they seem to sell fish listed as one thing (fatty tuna) then actually give another. (Medium fatty) ...See photos Also sell Snow Crab in the freezer to defrost at home but don't make California rolls etc with real crab, only crab stick which is horrible. Manager said it's because the local clientele obviously avoid shellfish, yet they still sell Prawn sushi?! Makes no sense. :( Sell it and people will buy it! Who doesn't love good snow crab?! I suggest you look at how good the Hendon Atari-ya sushi is and follow!

Atariya is a traditional Japanese cuisine while offering a modern twist. I recently visited there Golders green branch for sushi dining . The sushi selection is impressive, with a variety of rolls .The tuna and salmon were particularly noteworthy, melting in the mouth with every bite. For rolls, the "Crunchy Tuna" stood out. The combination of fresh tuna and rice cracker flakes added a satisfying texture, perfectly balanced by a touch of creamy avocado. The presentation was beautiful, making it almost too pretty to eat! The service was friendly and knowledgeable and also the food was delicious, enhancing the overall experience. fantastic spot for both sushi and shashimi .I left feeling thoroughly satisfied and eager to return for more of their culinary delights, highly recommend for sushi lovers.

Years ago, Atari Ya Golders Green used to supply thick inside out rolls, filled with lots of fish, and looking uniform and neat in the box. Now, the rolls are thin and messy, all in different shapes, and very thin, with more rice than fish. There don’t seem to be any portion guidelines for the chefs - it’s down to whatever mood they’re in. The chef who made up my last purchase was apparently in a very bad mood, and feeling stingy. The prices are very high now too - not worth it for what you get these days. They make sushi as though they’re running out of fish, but they’re not. I was so embarrassed to serve it to my guests this weekend - I gasped when I opened the takeaway bag. Never again, unless management does something about it. So disappointing for a place that used to have a great reputation.

Found this cute Japanese grocery/ sushi place in Finchley! It got plenty of Japanese seasonings and snacks! The sushi is freshly made in front of you in the sushi bar🤎

Little selection of Japanese items, sashimi counter smelt of old fish. Does not live up to the high quality of atariya. Full refurb is required and needs to keep up with the quality and choices of new Japanese shops in London. I would not visit again.
