Atariya Foods West Acton

So pleased to have found Atariya Foods. We bought a selection of sashimi and the quality exceeded our expectations. The prices are reasonable too! I will definitely be back soon! 👍

I was so excited to try their sashimi since I’d heard great things about this place, so I ordered salmon, yellowtail, and butterfish. Shortly, I got severe food poisoning - I’m still feeling really unwell. This place urgently needs to check the freshness and handling of their fish.

When you go to Atariya ! You go all out to shop ! One of the best place to source really fresh sushi fish! Sashimi grade raw fish! Look at the sushi party I had at home buying all the raw fish from the best Japanese fish monger in town :) btw it’s better than the average sushi place :)

The sashimi was pretty nice and the staff were really friendly! Highly recommend this place if you like Japanese food. The fish is on the slightly pricier side but it tastes really good!

This is my favourite Japanese store. It is my source of Sushi grade fish as I make my own nigiri. Staff are polite. Submitting this review makes me want to go there and satisfy my craving for a yellow tail, fatty tuna, salmon, octopus and yellow tail.

Ordered takeaway from Deliveroo for the first time. I had the Toku Jyu Set which included a selection of Nigri and Tuna maki (pictured). My husband had Dragon Roll and Crunchy Salmon. Quality, authentic Japanese sushi. Not cheap but you're buying quality. Only bad point was that I ordered a seaweed salad as well but it wasn't included but luckily Deliveroo provided a refund on the item. Would definitely order from here again.

Really helpful and knowledgeable staff at the counter. The fish is expensive but it's fantastic value for the quality. Down the road in white city the same sashimi grade will cost you about 30% more. You can order as much or as little as you like (a few of my orders were under 40g) and they'll cut it into sashimi for you there and then unless you ask them not to.

Amazing quality of fish, always come here if I'm going to make sushi or ceviche and if you order in advance over the phone they can prepare the type, quantity and cut of the fish too 👌They also have really nice Sake and plum wine.

I LOOOOOOVE ATARIYA!!! Seriously! This is the best shop for Japanese food in London (I am shocked that I did not review it yet!!) It is tiny...so expect to queue around the whole shop for sashimi/ fish if you come here at the weekend! The sashimi is amaaaazing! The shop is busy, with a high turnover, so the fish never has a chance to rot or become smelly. This means when you enter the shop, you'll be greeted with a lovely smell of rice vinegar. It never smells fishy, despite all the fish. They cut the sashimi for you freshly, so you can ask for it to be cut sushi-style or sashimi-style. I like Sashimi-style better as you get larger chunks of fish. I recommend the following if you'd like to try their sashimi: - Hottate (Onmygoodness the raw scallops here are soooo good!) - Amaebi (sweet little shrimps) - Saba (mackerel) - Tamago (I really like their dashimaki, eggrolls - they'll slice as much as you like for sushi) - Salmon - Hamachi - yellow tail tastes lovely, and has a slightly 'bite-y-er' texture than salmon - The toro (tuna) is good (melts in your mouth) but to be honest, I love the other sashimi more. Other mouth-watering food available: * Frozen gyoza - we always have some in our freezer for tastey-fast-food emergencies * Frozen edamame - much cheaper than eating out! * Kabocha - a bit like butter nut squash...only better! * Croquettes - I love the curry-flavour ones :) * Huuuuge bags of rice (if you ask nicely, they'll open a bag, and just sell you part of it) * Frozen unagi and the sauce to serve it with * Cup ramen/udon and all the noodles to cook yourself! * Sooo many happy Japanese sweets * Essential speedy food like furikake (the yummy food to shake over rice to make an instant meal) or packets of ready-to-go miso soup. There is lots more...you'll have to head West to explore Atariya yourself!! The staff are all really nice, so if you need help in choosing, just ask for their advice. The Japanese bloke with a moustache is an absolute legend!! *Damn writing this review has made me hungry!!*

It's a tiny grocery store but has a great selection of fresh fish! I'd say almost half of this store is dominated by the seafood counter. And the men behind the counter are energetic. The selection of the Japanese packaged food is limited here if you are looking for snacks or dry food.

The freshest smelling fish shop I've ever set foot in, and noisy too - with every single person in the shop shouting in Japanese. You've probably never even thought about this leafy little suburbia in West Acton with its lanes of mock tudor 1930s homes, but if you're Japanese you will have. Atariya is slap-bang in the middle of a slice of little England that is packed full with Japanese and is probably the nearest London has to a little Tokyo. No wonder Acton, Chiswick and Ealing have posted some of the best Yelp reviews for Sushi, when round the corner in West London is this amazing fish monger. If you have a car or tube pass that can get you to West Acton (the station is just next door) then this is place to come to stock up for a home sushi and sashimi night. They have it all, cut it sliver-thin if you want and it gleams like nothing you see in Soho or Chinatown.

Atari-Ya is a small Japanese fishmonger located outside of Central London. Easy to get to as it is adjacent to the West Acton Central line tube. So far, this is the only MARKET I'd feel comfortable consuming raw fish (this excludes restaurants). I ordered a selection of sashimi to take home that would have easily cost me at least 50 pounds at a restaurant, and only paid 22 pounds. It was so tasty, like butter! I ordered too much and fed my lucky moggy what I couldn't finish! This place also sells other basic asian market essentials - I purchased a bottle of sesame oil and rice vinegar. Expect a long queue if you arrive an hour before they close for the evening, as this is a popular place for take-away sushi / sashimi. Enjoy!

This is a Japanese food shop just by West Acton tube station. It is the best shop I have found out of central London and they have a pretty good range of ingredients to choose from; if you get stuck finding something just ask for some help. If you need fish, then they will either give you a chunk or they will slice it how you want it. In fact, there is a pretty wide range of fish to choose from; and in addition to getting food for Japanese dishes, I actually get most of my fish from here as it is the best fishmonger I have found in the area; especially for ready marinated fish to go on the BBQ.
