I realize that there's a good chance that social media will ultimately lead to the destruction of society as we know it, but on the flip side, Instagram did just lead me into this quiet alleyway where a lovely woman has been baking delicious French pastries throughout the pandemic...so it's basically a wash.
As I understand it, Ariana moved to Brooklyn from Paris with the intention of opening a storefront. Then that whole pandemic thing happened, and long story short, she's been operating out of her home for a year. (We're the ones who are slacking, and haven't been there 'til now.)
I heard about the pop-up croissant shop on Saturdays (11-6!) from a friend who's savvier with the internets than I am, but Ariana is also offering classes and custom orders, just check the website for info.
If you find yourself in Carroll Gardens on a Saturday afternoon though, swing by Dennett Place and pick up some pastries.
Pain au chocolat, croissant, the blood orange cake special...I promise, everything was delicious. However, my personal favorite at Atelier Ariana and in life, are the escargot pastries. Pain aux raisins, and whatever you call the one with pistachios...I love these things. Get some, and grab an extra for me.
And get there early. She sells out of things, and if I don't get some pain aux raisins, this friendship is over.
