On the Grid : Atelier September

"Atelier September has got to be one of the most beautiful cafés in Copenhagen. It's mostly danish organic rye bread - open faced sandwiches, yoghurt, croissant. Breakfast, lunch and early dinner. Open from 8 am until 6 pm Monday through Saturday." - WAAITT

The 38 Best Restaurants in Copenhagen, Denmark | Eater

"Atelier September relocated to a new location in Indre By, the city center, but continues to serve up some of the city’s best breakfast, including the famous avocado toast. The beautiful cafe, run by Frederik Bille Brahe, serves as a home away from home for stylish Copenhageners. They go to Atelier September to catch up with friends over mugs of matcha, plates of sliced rye bread and Comté, and sourdough croissants. Atelier September closes in the evenings, so migrate over to the buzzing Apollo Bar, which Bille Brahe also operates." - Anna Norström

Café Atelier September | Bon Appétit

"GO HERE: to feel like you’re living your best breakfast life. This Gothersgade Street café started out as a furniture and antiques store, and it shows (that’s their gorgeous butik next door). Turns out the owners have an eye for great chefs too. ORDER THE: perfectly shingled avocado on whole grain toast; matcha granola with zucchini jam; seasonal smørrebrød; and matcha latte. Chef Frederik Bille Brahe’s menu keeps it healthy, with a camera-ready twist. THE VIBE IS: beautiful people in a beautiful room eating beautiful avocado toast. We’re just going to warn you: Everyone here is better-looking and better–dressed than 97 percent of Americans. And their apartments are prettier too. Still. Don’t feel shy. PRACTICAL STUFF: Open every day: Monday to Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Also visit the sister spots: Apollo Bar and the new Kafeteria SMK in the National Gallery of Denmark. —Christine Muhlke" - Condé Nast

Atelier September is a great place to get breakfast/brunch. Expect a long wait. There is seating inside and outside so if you don’t mind sitting outside when the weather isn’t great, your wait could be shorter. We split the pancakes between four people and it was the perfect breakfast dessert. We each got our own entrees. The classic Danish breakfast is satisfying. The only dish I would skip is the madeleines (dry).

I stopped here for a quick breakfast on the recommendation of a friend and I loved the vibes here! The food was delicious as well. I only regret deciding to sit outside, where I was swarmed with bees. I had a classic Danish breakfast which I highly recommend! Definitely give this place a try. It was not crowded but the earlier you arrive the better.

I decided to visit this café after seeing so many TikTok reviews — and honestly, the pancakes were just as good as everyone said! Soft, fluffy, and perfectly sweet without being too much. 🥞✨ The matcha was smooth and calming, with just the right balance of flavor. The coffee, on the other hand, was quite strong and a bit on the sour side — probably great for real coffee lovers, but maybe not for those who prefer something milder. ☕💚 The atmosphere felt warm and charming, though the café was filled mostly with tourists, so it didn’t have that local vibe. Still, it’s a lovely little spot to take a break, enjoy some sweets, and soak in the cozy feeling for a while. 🌷 if I have a chance to visit Denmark again I would go back there anyway 🫶🏻

Recommending almond pancake and the poppy seed cake. Both were very nice. Hibiscus lemonade was also freshening. However avoid the matcha tea with mint. It literally tasted only water, a big disappointment. This location was full of tourists glued to their tables even after being done with their food. I would like to try another A.S. location next time.

Atelier September was on my list for so long and I’ve finally made it to this beautiful place. I’ve went early in the morning and got a seat at the big table which is super nice to connect with other people. The food was amazing and absolutely worth the hype. The coffee was so good. My stomach & heart were full and I‘m definitely coming back.

An institution in Copenhagen and the contemporary café scene. Always a long line of local and international guests, waiting to try the famous pastries, granola bowls and Danish breakfast plates. Everything was delicious and pleasing for the eye too. Try to come not during peak hours.

The food here is truly delicious and full of flavor. The sourdough and the omelette were excellent, the butter whipped to perfection, and the smoky salt on my soft-boiled egg was a wonderful touch. Unfortunately, the coffee (which this place is apparently known for) was a real letdown. It was watery and tasteless, and I didn’t even finish it. :( The experience was also frustrating at times. After waiting 30 minutes for a seat, we sat down and waited again, not realizing we were supposed to order at the bar. Nobody told us, and there was no sign or note on the table or menu to indicate this. The food arrived pretty fast after we ordered though! I’d come back for the food, but I wouldn’t wait in a long line again, and I’d definitely skip the coffee.

Pricey but WORTH IT! A wonderful brunch experience. This meal exceeded my expectations, no wonder there is always a line. We sat outside which I would highly recommended if sunny out. The food was so fresh and simple yet so flavourful. I have been waiting to come here for years and am excited to come back on day!
