On the Grid : Atelier September

"Atelier September has got to be one of the most beautiful cafés in Copenhagen. It's mostly danish organic rye bread - open faced sandwiches, yoghurt, croissant. Breakfast, lunch and early dinner. Open from 8 am until 6 pm Monday through Saturday." - WAAITT

The 38 Essential Copenhagen Restaurants

"Atelier September relocated to a new location in Indre By, the city center, but continues to serve up some of the city’s best breakfast, including the famous avocado toast. The beautiful cafe, run by Frederik Bille Brahe, serves as a home away from home for stylish Copenhageners. They go to Atelier September to catch up with friends over mugs of matcha, plates of sliced rye bread and Comté, and sourdough croissants. Atelier September closes in the evenings, so migrate over to the buzzing Apollo Bar, which Bille Brahe also operates." - Anna Norström, Gabe Ulla

Café Atelier September | Bon Appétit

"GO HERE: to feel like you’re living your best breakfast life. This Gothersgade Street café started out as a furniture and antiques store, and it shows (that’s their gorgeous butik next door). Turns out the owners have an eye for great chefs too. ORDER THE: perfectly shingled avocado on whole grain toast; matcha granola with zucchini jam; seasonal smørrebrød; and matcha latte. Chef Frederik Bille Brahe’s menu keeps it healthy, with a camera-ready twist. THE VIBE IS: beautiful people in a beautiful room eating beautiful avocado toast. We’re just going to warn you: Everyone here is better-looking and better–dressed than 97 percent of Americans. And their apartments are prettier too. Still. Don’t feel shy. PRACTICAL STUFF: Open every day: Monday to Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Also visit the sister spots: Apollo Bar and the new Kafeteria SMK in the National Gallery of Denmark. —Christine Muhlke" - Condé Nast

Atelier September was on my list for so long and I’ve finally made it to this beautiful place. I’ve went early in the morning and got a seat at the big table which is super nice to connect with other people. The food was amazing and absolutely worth the hype. The coffee was so good. My stomach & heart were full and I‘m definitely coming back.

Pricey but WORTH IT! A wonderful brunch experience. This meal exceeded my expectations, no wonder there is always a line. We sat outside which I would highly recommended if sunny out. The food was so fresh and simple yet so flavourful. I have been waiting to come here for years and am excited to come back on day!

Stopped by for a brunch after strolling through the gardens and city. Got the breakfast plate that seems to be the iconic choice when in Copenhagen and it was lovely! All the components on the place seem detached but when eaten together it was quite enjoyable and light. Also got the freshly baked focaccia and added on a side of straciatella - this did not disappoint!! The interior is also very nice

Very busy and popular place. Great bread and the famous whipped butter is delicious. Pretty pricey and crowded/crammed seats (so be there early when they open). The matcha was not good at all but recommend the typical danish breakfast.

This is a lovely spot but it’s key to understand how they work. They seat you and then you go up to the counter to order. It tools us a second to figure it out. :) We were very appreciative about how kind they were with us and a baby as well. Must try the blueberry pancakes. Just 😍. Note: No decaf espresso if you are like me and have to be careful with caffeine.

Absolutely charming spot — effortlessly stylish, yet cozy and welcoming. The food is fresh, thoughtful, and beautifully presented. Great coffee, lovely people, and a calm, creative vibe that makes you want to linger. A perfect Copenhagen café experience.

Incredible omelette w/ avocado and blueberry pancakes ( more like an American biscuit), sour dough slices with gorgeous whipped butter. Warm Madelines. Has a reputation for being crowded, but we didn't have a wait on Tuesday at 930 am

I wasn’t expecting much from the food here, but I was pleasantly surprised. The omelette was delicious—perfectly cooked, well-seasoned, and definitely the highlight of the meal. I would highly recommend it. The pancakes were decent, though not particularly memorable. One downside is the long wait, which can be frustrating, especially given the limited seating. We ended up sharing a tiny table between three people, which made the experience feel a bit cramped. If you’re planning to visit, I’d recommend going during off-peak hours to avoid the wait and secure a more comfortable spot.
