The 8 Best Places to Drink Wine in Paris, According to a Top Sommelier | Bon Appétit

"A Saint‑Germain‑des‑Prés wine bar that celebrates Loire whites—think cold Sancerre paired with a warm goat‑cheese salad—and evokes the feel of drinking in Paris a century ago; the menu lists Loire appellations rather than producers and serves simple casse‑croûtes on famous Poilâne bread with cheese from Barthélemy, inspiring many guests to load up on provisions from the nearby shops after a few glasses." - ByVictoria James

A true Parisian experience. Super friendly staff make you feel so welcome. The food is delicious and tastes homemade. It's in the heart of St. Germain and has a nice local crowd. The prices are very reasonable and great wines by the glass or bottles. Highly recommend

Elegant and tasty cheese, pork pie from Lyon and house-made terrine with a generous selection of wines and spirits. Beautiful thin crispy bread on the side. Cheesecake melts in your mouth - superb! Service was excellent - highly recommend!

We wanted a simple cheese sandwich, or similar, to fill a small empty spot while leaving plenty of room for dinner. I was quick and close to our hotel. We love the history, décor, and that it is as Parisian as it gets. The sandwich was a bit sad, but perhaps it was done well and we didn't appreciate how it was made. We had to have a nice glass of wine to go with the sandwich and it didn't disappoint. It was a place to relax and get ready for the evening ahead of us.

We have had a very nice breakfast in there. Snawiches with famous Poilain breads and it was very delicious! A place with a history 🩷

Absolutely amazing!! Delicious food, very friendly staff, and wonderful atmosphere. I got the fish special and it was cooked to perfection and served with yummy bread. I’m an exchange student this semester, and while enjoying this meal and watching the Parisians walk by, it was the first time I truly felt I was in Paris. Merci!

Google
We love this place! And visit every time we cruise on over to Saint Germain. It’s a cute family run place that you can sit and watch the Parisian world go by while eating a sumptuous croque monsieur and washing it down with a local red or 1664. Bonus is that Le Bon Marche is just around the corner. Win win

Yelp
This is a low-key, casual, traditional French bistro and wine bar. The clientele is mostly locals enjoying well-made comfort food. Both the food and the service was decent. It was nice to sit outside and watch the world go by. I loved the fact they have all-day dining. They use high-quality coffee, teas, bread, and jam. www.ausauvignon.com

Yelp
This place was great - they were incredibly helpful, even though my French is weak at best! They had a lovely wine selection, their tartine was amazing, and they recommended an incredible chevre to finish the meal. And, they use famous Poilane bread from the original store nearby! The best thing, though, was that my boyfriend forgot his own bag of bread, which they saved for us so that we got it right back once we realized we had left it there. All in all, a wonderful place!

Yelp
Popped in here for some coffee and gelato while out and about. It was a pleasant little cafe with very little room but nice staff. They spoke english and were friendly - which isn't easy to find in Paris.

Yelp
Rather expensive for the offering but I suppose given the area it's appropriate. Staff was less than warm and inviting & the decor run down and drab. Overall, the meal was good however.

Yelp
Small place, but with a really good wine menu! I only had cheese platter and the staff suggested a red and then a white wine to go with it. Loved all the pictures on the wall as part of the history of the place.

Yelp
Pros: Goat cheese salad was pretty good Now the cons. Bad French will get tourists through a lot of places in Paris with a smile and some politeness, but not if you have Baby Putin here as your waiter. I had another server who took care of me and things were going fine until Baby Putin discovered my poor French and made it a point to harass me any way possible for the rest of the meal, asking me why I didn't drink wine at a wine bar (uh nobody else is drinking wine here as far as I can tell so what are you talking about), throwing things on my table violently, talking smack about me to the other diners (I know you're talking about me dude?), just basically treating me like an invalid. Of course I was eating alone so a perfect target for a bored piece of work like that. Baby Putin is named for the resemblance. You'll know him when you see him.

Yelp
Alright, this one already has one English review, so I'll add my 2 cents as well. Au Sauvignon has been in existence since 1954 and looks to not have been updated much since then, but that is part of its charm. The seating is cramped but cozy. Be prepared that to access the toilet, you must ascend a very narrow staircase and enter a room that is half the size of an airplane lavatory. The menu offers 6 whites, 11 reds, 2 roses. The cheapest is a Beaujolais at 4.50 euros. The most expensive wine by the glass was 6.20 euros. Bottles go up to 30 euros. The waitress recommended a red St.-Emilion, which was excellent as well as a red Morgon, which I'd never heard of and which was also delicious. The rose Sancerre was delicious too! Various snack foods are noted on little chalkboards hung on the walls. We went for a cheese called Ste. Nectaire Fermier. It was strong and not for the meek, but we enjoyed it. I really wanted to return to this bar, but we just didn't have time. Next time! Note: I think knowledge of French is appreciated here, although I saw a table of English-speakers seeming to get by okay.

Yelp
Great little cafe. Had a perfect lunch here and plenty of wines to choose from. It's a place that locals eat, so you know it's got to be good!

Yelp
Visited this place Personable service at this small café. Note: it's located at the corner of Rue de Sèvres and Rue des Saints Pères, and not where indicated on the Google map. Many tasteful drawings decorate the walls - some of the café, some cartoons, and various others. I had an acceptable tea with a pain-au-chocolat. The manager seemed to be having continual minor crises with staffing, and so maybe this place descends into chaos from time to time, but otherwise I found this place very pleasant and stress-free.

Yelp
My first real French review! During a recent trip to Paris we explored many parts of central Paris but perhaps the Latin Quarter was our favorite. Our young adults gave us a great walking tour guide withover 100 routes-we chose the perfect part of town. Being Mr. Map, I thought this would be a breeze only walking 1 mile to the starting point from La Merneva, our incredible hotel. Chocolateria City, wow-almost overload on pastry shops, fun local bars, but our goal was finding Au Sauvigon, a famous wine tasting bar. Walla, it was fairly easy to find after a few wrong turns and tired feet. This is a real locals place, the ceiling is painted with different vineyard murals, and lots of large wine like paintings with a small yet cozy bar. Food-we tried the mixed sausage platter, spicy, anduiou, salami was pretty good with a la masion blanc. But, when we saw the smoked salmon on the table next to us, we had to try this-large oval toasted bread with butter, and norwiegon smoked salmon on top, huge pieces. Super tasty, fresh, bread was incredible, maybe best lunch we had all week. Highly recommend anyone in Paris Latin Quarter region trying Au Sauvigon-small, crowded tables, and good wine/food.

Yelp
Came here for lunch, plenty of outside seating but good service too. The french onion soup was amazing, one of the best!

Yelp
Killer cheese, super staff (in a dry but friendly way) and inexpensive wine. Great spot to stop for a few hours of drinks and snacks!
