Auberge de l'Île

This was the surprise restaurant of our trip. The best chocolate dessert-multiple preps, smooth, not bitter. Kidney/liver/sweet bread appetizer was excellently executed-not easy. Pork trotters very smooth with bread crust, nice pork taste. Beautiful view over the river with outdoor seating. Better than many of the starred Michelin places we ate.

Beautiful setting with tables outside overlooking the river. Special mention to the staff for their excellent service. The food was exquisite. I had the crab with guacamole and passion fruit to start. Octopus was amazing. The lamb was delicious. I had pied de Cochin which was good but not quite my thing. Cheeses and coffees to round off. Local wines were perfect.

The food is for the most part competently prepared, but uninspired given the price point. We found the service disappointing. They focus a lot of attention on their friends. One of the servers was either having a very bad day, or desperately wants to be doing anything else than dealing with guests. Not recommended.

We had a very memorable meal here, after finding the restaurant listed on the Michelin Guide. The food was exceptionally inventive, and was very satisfactory in terms of quality and quantity. We had three courses and each was as amazing as the last. Paired with local wine sold at a reasonable price. We were looked after very well. Thank you! :-)

Fabulous setting on the Vienne. Outstanding food and service. Really reasonably priced wine which surprised us and the bottle we had for €26 was wonderful. It's a great experience and worth the money. I recommend the pigeon - the best I've ever had.

Very good lunch, nice setting with view on the Vienne river. Would definitely recommend the octopus and squab. Chocolate desert was ok but the goat cheese one was better.

Perfect place for lunch - excellent menu, delightful staff and view from the terrace was wonderful.

Wonderful food with great flavour and complexity, and a beautiful riverside terrace to enjoy it from!
