"Housed in a converted coaching inn built in 1786, this 100-year-old family-run restaurant sticks to the well-trodden path of cooking with a focus on seasonal ingredients. Chef Antoine Jeudi, now assisted by Julien Perrodin, certainly knows his stuff, and his flavoursome dishes go down a treat with your choice from an appealing wine selection. Thanks to the small kitchen garden, there is also a vegetable-forward set menu that includes, most notably, tomato stuffed with Touraine vegetables, fresh herb coulis and chickpea cream. Along with a charming setting, it all makes for a pleasant meal." - Michelin Inspector

Auberge du Bon Laboureur (Chenonceaux, Pays de la Loire) 5 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Family-owned for over a hundred years, what’s now the Auberge du Bon Laboureur is more than twice as old as that; what began as a coaching inn in the year 1786 is now a beautiful little boutique hotel, combining the personable atmosphere of a private residence with the style and service of a professional lodging. The location, in Chenonceaux, a lovely Loire Valley village, is splendid — the chateau, a few minutes’ walk from your door, is a local highlight. And the auberge’s restaurant, under the direction of chef and proprietor Antoine Jeudi, is highly regarded for its classic seasonal French fare." - Tablet Hotels

An absolutely superb hotel, we have stayed here twice previously and the standards which were already very high have, believe it or not improved. The welcome was just so friendly and efficient. Our G. Floor room very cosy and clean. I have some mobility issues so access was simple. The room was simply furnished but very clean and functional. The food, from the enormous (if you want it!) breakfast was excellent, but the evening meals were a delight, my wife and I are almost we exclusively fish eaters were in heaven, but the meat servings looked fabulous. The extensive wine list presented a wonderful opportunity for us to push the boat out. All in all we enjoyed the hotel for our wedding anniversary and celebrated appropriately.

Excellent service, comfortable rooms, property and gardens lovely, easy parking and walkable to restaurants... would absolutely return. After staying at two other 5* hotels in our road trip that severely disappointed us and left us wondering how they could be called 5-star, this hotel not only met but exceeded expectations and it was so very welcome. From the minute we arrived, we felt a high level of service and friendliness from the staff- tour and explanations of our room were appreciated. The bath soap smelled lovely, the Richards coffee is my favorite and the attention given to the pretty gardens we walked through daily was a bath in peacefulness. We all slept very comfortably and enjoyed the breakfast spread- plenty of options for gluten free people.

This hotel is fantastic in an idyllic setting! The rooms were clean, spacious, and comfortable; the decor was a bit sparse and we had trouble with the heating/ac units. We learned it was better to just open the windows! However, I would stay at this hotel over and over again! They did so many things right - the buildings and grounds are storybook perfect; the restaurant was lovely, and the food is incredible! The farms animals, pool, sauna and sitting areas are great amenities and entertainment for everyone. We enjoyed our stay an hope to be back one day!

I'm kind of torn between rating this place 4 or 5 stars. We did an 11 day trip across France, and stayed at four very different properties. This was the most out of the way one, and is truly a luxe French country inn kind of vibe. Before we arrived I had read the service described as a bit "stiff." I would not disagree. Very efficient though. We had reservations for dinner there one night, and asked for some to be made during the second night of our stay as well. Glad we did, because it is a very small town, with minimal dining options. Also, we were not aware of the two different dinner experiences offered at the hotel. There is a really high end "Gastronomique" choice, as well as a more casual bistro. We weren't quite prepared for the first night, but it was wonderful. They let us switch to the bistro the next night, which was still in the same room for some reason. Our bedroom was a little rustic, but the other members of our party really enjoyed their lodging. I think it was just us, but things really fell into place on day two. We had some very friendly servers, and got to enjoy their lovely grounds. A beautiful pool/sauna area, and a gorgeous private garden/petting zoo type deal. It is a wonderful property and area within walking distance to the Château de Chenonceau, but it is very French. I don't want to sound like a dumb American tourist when I say that, but just learn a few key French phrases (as you should), be polite and enjoy.

Auberge du Bon Laboureur is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Paris. The rooms are beautiful and spacious, the service is thoughtful, and the food is wonderful. The grounds are beautiful, including the pool area and gardens. It's the perfect location as a home base to explore the chateaus of the region, and a short walk to my favorite, Chenonceau.

A lovely hotel in a great location for travel to and from Southern France. Excellent restaurant, we enjoyed dining in the courtyard this time and lovely pool if you have time for a swim! We travelled with friends this time and it was their first time at the hotel and they loved it... we will be back!

It's a really good hotel with a good restaurant. The Castle is close. Great parking. Why did I put four? This hotel is not enough to be announced by five stars... if the leadership is interesting, then in private I am ready to voice these little things. Once again: a very good hotel with professional staff.

Luxury hotel within walking distance of the historic Chateau Chenonceau. Comfortable and well-equipped rooms; fantastic restaurant. We also really enjoyed relaxing in the quiet garden and by the pool.
