Auberge du Cep

"This emblematic Beaujolais restaurant, made famous thanks to the talent of chef Chantal Chagny who spent 44 years in the kitchen here, needs no introduction whatsoever! Her successor Aurélien Merot is cut from the same cloth with cuisine that is both generous and full of finesse. He champions the region's terroir beautifully (free-range chicken cooked in Fleurie wine, supreme of chicken stuffed with foie gras, and coq au vin in pastry), along with a particular focus on jus and sauces. Excellent value for money (the lunchtime menu is a bargain!) plus a fine selection of wines from the region." - Michelin Inspector

This treasure is a polished single blazing stone set in refined white gold. Just the epitome of a class act. A clean modern refined feeling that goes beyond trend or fashion but speaks from a place that there is confidence that the dining you will be doing there is going to be a long lasting memory. Wonderful dishes that are easy to grasp but hard to a quantify. I noted that whenever I mentioned this place with the people in the areas.... there was a little smile that told me that I had made the right choice and if you choose to go here you won't be able to wipe that smile off your mouth face with the last bite

Excellent food, ambiance and price ! We had a great time at l’auberge du Cep and enjoyed each dish. There’s also a great wine selection at an affordable price. If you are around, you should definitely check it out !

Food were beautifully presented, and had complex notes to them. Some courses were slightly heavy handed on salt but perhaps this is what the chef had intended. One elements of a dish presented to us were missing, so we had to returned it for it to be re-presented. Everyone tend to have chosen to come around the same time, leaving staff slightly frazzled and flustered when serving. Filter water is charged at EUR5 per bottle so something to watch out for. Anyhow, it is noted chef had worked really hard to present their food. Overall, it’s good effort !

Fantastic menu and evening at Le Cep in Fleuri. Some of they disces like the crème mousse with 12 months aged comté was really innovative. Only annoying thing, was that the chef would not share his recipe (-; The beautifully decorated trout was also amazing. I will come back many times to Le Cep

We had a delicious meal and were very happy until the moment when two of the fellow diners on neighbouring tables were brought table fireworks to celebrate their birthdays. This is obviously what the restaurant does for birthdays and we were indeed asked when we reserved if there was a special occasion. But it ruined the evening, the air got full of dust and my wife who has bronchial problems suffered for many days afterwards. And this in a starred restaurant! As many people tend to celebrate birthdays in such an establishment we can imagine that this happens quite often. We strongly recommend the management to rethink this policy as it really spoils the wonderful taste of the food.

Was here two weeks ago; book well ahead of time. Food was worthy of the star. Wine list…simple, elegant, and from a starved North American desperate for these wines we had a spiritual moment. Can’t recommend enough. Beautiful food.

The atmosphere is a little bland. No real character. The servers were charming, unfortunately the English speaking staff were not used to the restaurant's advantage and customers comfort.
