Chez Panisse’s Alice Waters Opens New Los Angeles Restaurant This Fall - Eater LA

"Legendary chef Alice Waters is opening a restaurant in Los Angeles soon. The project will be Waters’ first new restaurant in decades, after opening the seminal Berkeley restaurant Chez Panisse. While Waters’ new restaurant does not yet have a name, Eater has confirmed that it will land at the Hammer Museum, part of UCLA’s sprawling campus in the Westwood neighborhood. In true Waters fashion, reps for the Hammer say, the restaurant will “highlight wholesome foods sourced from local farms dedicated to responsible and regenerative farming practices.”" - Farley Elliott

Audrey Review - Westwood - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"You probably don’t go out of your way for museum restaurants very often, but you should make an exception for Audrey at the Hammer in Westwood. It’s in the objectively beautiful courtyard of the Hammer, and serves fantastic food involving (mostly) vegetables. At lunch, you should eat celery root soup and trout roe toast in the beautiful outdoor space, and watch museum-goers roll around in chairs that are more like human-sized dreidels. The restaurant is open for dinner when the museum closes, when you’ll find meatier things like a great pork porterhouse - it’s salty, juicy, and cooked perfectly. Don’t leave without getting a cocktail (our favorite is the Audrey)." - Brett Keating

Audrey Is the Stylish New Hammer Museum Restaurant in Westwood - Eater LA

"It’s not every day that LA earns a big new museum restaurant, but Audrey, which opens today inside the totally underrated Hammer Museum in Westwood from Soa Davis Forrest and chef Lisa Giffen in the kitchen. Serving lunch and dinner inside the museum, there’s no entrance fee required to dine at the restaurant, which takes over the museum’s rather wonderful courtyard, as well as a portion of the ground floor." - Matthew Kang

Audrey Restaurant Opens at Hammer Museum in Westwood in Early 2019 - Eater LA

"The Hammer Museum has a new restaurant opening in early 2019 called Audrey from restaurateur Soa Davies Forrest and chef Lisa Giffen. Taking over a section of the ground floor of the museum, plus the patio, the dinner and daytime destination is the most compelling eatery to come to Westwood in the past year." - Matthew Kang

The Hammer Museum has a new restaurant opening in early 2019 called Audrey from restaurateur Soa Davies Forrest and chef Lisa Giffen. Taking over a section of the ground floor of the museum, plus the patio, the dinner and daytime destination is the most compelling eatery to come to Westwood in the past year. Lisa Giffen worked at numerous New York City restaurants, including Daniel, Blue Hill, and most recently at Brookyln’s celebrated Maison Premiere as its executive chef and sister restaurant Sauvage

Very inviting place to hang out. There is a place to play ping pong and lounge. Many tourists have visited here. Bathroom is nice and clean. You are not allowed to bring water inside and no flash photos. Good luck.

Less than what I expected. The place lacks any vibe. Even on Saturday night. Cocktails not so good. Food was ok nothing to talk about. The octopus was great and so was the artishock but the steaks were disappointing. The vibe is dead...

Google
I was really looking forward to eating here after reading all the write-ups about this place. However, the brunch was not very good and fairly pricey for what we got. I will not be going back here.

Google
Wow. This new spot is really perfect. Great ambiance and open and breezy and hipster. The brunch was spectacular. The best egg sandwhich I have ever had--avocados and chili butter on the perfect bagel. The grilled cheese sandwich with three types of cheese melted to perfection is over the top. And the drinks are really creative and fun. I had the rise and shine with coffee and vermouth and bitters. A great mid morning jolt! The staff are also friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back and have dinner.

Google
Fantastic modern restaurant with great service and excellent food. Moderately priced too, considering the quality. The pasta was so full of flavor, we couldn't believe it was vegetarian. The pork porterhouse was perfect, juicy and flavorful and expertly cooked. I liked it even more than the ribeye! Definitely come here for an upscale dinner at an accessible price in a gorgeous setting.

Google
Ok. Let’s get this place off to a good start. Great service and the herbal tea’s are very good. They will officially open next week on February 26, 2019. So come check them out while they get through their soft opening and enjoy a wide list of options. I’ll be back with the family. Indoor and outdoor seating. Ambiance is open and contemporary. Lots of cushy seating. Parking at the Hammer Museum, $7 for the evenings.

Google
Audrey is just the right mix of comfort and modern. Situated in a beautiful setting, away from cars and traffic, you feel special to be in this little oasis of a place. I went with my friend for happy hour to beat some after work traffic and what a great idea it was. The service was friendly and attentive. We enjoyed drinks and two appetizer plates that were well-crafted and delicious. One was a fried artichoke and the other was a beautiful crudo fish dish. All cooking techniques were on point. Audrey has a New York or European feel in it's hyper-attention to details in the food and decor, as well as the sophisticated people it attracts. I will definitely be going back to eat and visit the free museum, which looks awesome. A great find in the middle of Westwood.

Yelp
Unexpected and fun! It's a great lunch spot on a sunny day I came for a quick lunch during the week and was pleasantly surprised by the prix fixe menu. Service was a little spotty, but still an overall great experience for a museum restaurant.

Yelp
STEPH JUDGEMENT: Artsy and spendy, with pretty good food. The Hammer is one of my fave museums, and I finally decided to try its restaurant for lunch on my last visit. As it was midday midweek, seats were easy to come by. Since I was alone I decided on a bar seat. The restaurant is beautiful and serene, in the shade of the plants in the courtyard. They don't have a huge menu, but their choices looked appealing. I decided on an eggplant banh mi (served with pickled vegetables) with an iced tea. I found the top slice of the bread to be a bit too hard, but the rest of the sandwich was tasty, and the iced tea was fine. The service at the bar was cordial and prompt, and it was a very nice museum cafe lunch, with prices to match--a little over $30 with tax and tip. Not sure if I'd make a habit of it with so many other options in the area, but it was good to check out at least once.

Yelp
This review is late because I went in April 2024. This summer has been flying by and I can't believe I haven't caught up on my yelp reviews. Lulu was on my list because of Alice Waters. I always heard that Alice Waters was the pinnacle of putting California on the culinary map. She's always been based more in Norcal and Lulu is her first restaurant that she has worked on in Los Angeles. She's known for focusing on organic ingredients and pioneering the farm-to-table movement. I was super excited to go and try Lulu and check out the Hammer Museum at the same time. They have 3 course prix-fixe options and also a-la-carte for those who do not prefer the prix-fixe menu. I LOVED the prix-fixe meal. It was asparagus with gribiche and egg, chiocciole pasta with fava beans, chanterelles, and lemon, and a pistachio ice cream dessert. I remember how fresh the ingredients were, you could taste how thoughtfully prepared and delicious they were. No heavy seasoning to cover up the ingredients here. This was also the first time I've had fava beans with pasta and it was so delightful! I ended the meal with an americano and my pistachio ice cream. The service here is impeccable. The food is delicious. The patio is open-air and has beautiful trees which feels like a peaceful oasis inside the Hammer museum courtyard. Definitely stop by! They also started evening happy hours and sometimes they have live bands now. It's such a wonderful dining experience.

Yelp
Located in the Hammer Museum in Westwood, LULU offers simple yet delicious offerings in a serene setting. With most the seating outdoors, LULU's ambiance is relaxed with ample seating and spacious interior. The dining is casual and the menu is simple offering prix fixe or a la carte. With recommendation from the server we went with the stuffed squash blossoms with ricotta. This to me was the star of the show, it was lightly fried stuffed with ricotta top with shaved parmesan. Highly recommend you get this dish as it unlike anything you have tried before. Also ordered the Gem lettuce salad seasoned with a tangy zesty flavor similar to caesar salad. It was refreshing and flavorful. The main we went with the Rib Eye which took quite a bit of time to get to the table for some reason. The staff gave us complimentary bread due to the wait of the main. If you are in the Westwood area definitely give LULU a try as it is a wonderful place to enjoy a meal. Also know they charge an 18% service charge to total bill.

Yelp
Lulu... came back again. Surrounded by art inside of Hammer museum, especially Sunday has Valet! Don't strugggle to park! Service is always amazing over great vibes and polite servers! Especially because of the area a lot of be-loving Jewish people around!!! Their coffees are always amazing so I came for brunch on Sunday. Not much people, outside was 85 but compatibly cool inside of the patio too. Beautiful simple brunch 3 course and lovely deviled eggs! We were the only ones eating like pigs here lol. Fabulous music choice calm and cool down artistic brunch with no over crowded brunch- this is the place!

Yelp
Erin was my waitress and she was extremely informative. I learned about this Alice Waters restaurant - Lulu at the Alex Lemonade Stand. It did not disappoint. I had the fresh rockfish tostadas paired with Verdejo white wine from Spain and it was miraculous. So many delightful flavors.

Yelp
Lovely restaurant and setting. Exceptional service. The farro salad was perfect for a warm summer day. Menu is a bit limited as the only protein option to add on was the deviled eggs, which wasn't very filling. Portions are small for a la carte. Would love to see a fresh organic fruit bowl on the menu.

Yelp
Food, service and ambience are excellent in a beautiful and secure setting, after all Lulu is located in the courtyard of the Hammer Museum. BTW, join the Hammer and get 10% off. For those who are complaining about the mandatory 18% service charge, it's clearly stated on the menu. Don't know if jazz trio is still playing on Tuesday evening but was great during the summer.

Yelp
Lulu finally stopped by Lulu at the Hammer, and I'm so glad I finally got to try out this super aesthetic, vibey restaurant! Located in the courtyard of the Hammer Museum, Lulu features beautiful outdoor garden seating, with unique daily menus of farm-to-table dishes that are meticulously crafted from ingredients sourced from local farmers. I personally really liked both the items we tried: Shakshuka: lovely vegan take on the traditional dish, with the eggplant adding an extra layer of sweetness to the tomato sauce. The chef was also kind enough to accommodate the removal of feta for this lactose intolerant girly (although there's no guarantee of customizations for other dishes) Salmon focaccia: loved this take on the smoked salmon bagel, except with toasted focaccia as the bread. They also included their own pickled vegetables, which added another unique dimension of flavor to this dish I was a bit miffed by the service- the host claimed we would have a 1.5 hour wait despite a plethora of empty tables, and we ended up being seated around 30 minutes. The waiters/waitresses seemed a bit understaffed, but were largely very nice and accommodating in comparison to the host. Was a bit disappointed that there was a mandatory 18% service charge considering the bipolar service, although I would've definitely tipped my kind waiter well. Would also highly recommend making a reservation on Resy ahead of time to avoid the wait!

Yelp
The ambiance is spectacular and to be honest all you get here is the vibe and decoration . Im sorry to say service is not top notch in LA anymore! They have a limited menu which is understandable but looks like they have a full bar so they should be able to make any drinks you wish. But they said the bar tender is on lunch and we cant make you anything out of the menu! I ordered the mint team which was very delicious and my boyfriend got lemonade. Couple of servers were nice but the other ones didn't care. Well the location gives this place the advantage for sure.

Yelp
Stopped at Lulu recently and thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Ordered the Chicken Milanese with Brocollini, Gnocchi, and Deviled Eggs - all were amazing! Also had the pistachio cake that was on the pre fixe menu.

Yelp
The food was fantastic with a buffet-style setup, allowing us to serve ourselves. No long waits for food, which was a huge plus! The service was quick and efficient, and the staff were warm and welcoming. However, when we arrived, there was a mix-up with our reservation; we had booked a table for seven, but they initially tried to seat us for five, which caused some inconvenience since we were with another party. Thankfully, they resolved the issue quickly. The ambiance was incredible with lots of dancing, lively music, and a great vibe overall. Note: This place is on the pricier side, but considering the experience, it's well worth it. $$$$

Yelp
Beautiful setting inside the hammer museum the venue is outdoors, you have to make a reservation if you want to sit at a table but you can sit at the bar and order with no reservation. The menu changes so check the website, for the quality service and price you can't go wrong

Yelp
I love everything about museums! The ambiance, the ability to be leisurely, the sense of being in a different space. Lulu has ALL of these qualities and more. With some frequency, I eat here during their Happy Hour which is til 5. Without exception, I have the Spicy Eggplant Banh mi sandwich. It fills you without being filling. It takes a special chef to accomplish this. It is the perfect amount of spice and you are able to savor the flavors. The wait staff is quite knowledgeable, also knowing not to linger too much. I will be here often ( it's also on my way home), and look forward to trying more (and Yelping more). but I have a continuing hankering for this sandwich!

Yelp
Lulu is Alice Waters' foray into the Los Angeles restaurant scene. The gorgeous restaurant is in the courtyard at the Hammer Museum near UCLA. There is a large open-air restaurant and a substantial patio. Reservations are a very good idea, but we were able to be seated early. The service was very attentive and friendly - a MUST with the 18% included service charge. Sometimes, this backfires. This was not a problem here. Great service that I made sure was up to 20%. The food is generally very good. Huevos Rancheros are a bit dry. The fish and seafood stew were a bit fishy. The Indian Chickpea Salad was well prepared, the tomato and tonnato salad was incredible (not at all fishy), the Tunsian meatballs were OUT OF THIS WORLD, the prosciutto sandwich was pretty tasty, the chocolate dessert was very rich and the almond cake was BEST IN CLASS. The cocktails and wines were outrageously priced - $11 a glass for a wine that retails for $9 a bottle. This is my one dig. Sure, the food is pricey but this sort of wine pricing is just insulting. Overall, we had a pleasant luncheon. I would have loved some greens in my Indian Chickpea Salad, but this is subjective flavor valuation. I would have loved a glass of wine with that salad, but I just would not justify that insane expense.

Yelp
Super expensive, they added $ 10,00 per person for service plus tip. First and last time CV

Yelp
Visited Lulu for a business dinner and was pleasantly surprised by the comfortable outdoor seating and small menu. The Sichuan prawns were absolutely deliciously and their selection of aguas frescas showed attention to both their alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Service was fast and friendly. The chocolate pavé dessert was a large and filling portion and decadent as well.

Yelp
I enjoyed stopping into Lulu with a friend after attending a concert nearby at the Westwood library. We enjoyed some cocktails and bar snacks. I am not impressed by the business' decision to include a service charge on the bill. So I caution diners to inspect the bill carefully to appraise yourself of this fee. I only mention this because the bill summary is given I the common format of subtotal TIP, and total. Even though the business has charged a service fee already. Being quick to dispatch the bill, I wound up "tipping twice.

Yelp
Lulu is inside the Hammer museum building. The food is good and the service is ok. The ambience is just ok since it's in the Hammer building. We ordered a couple of their salads and the bread with butter and a pot of earl grey tea. All and all the experience was nice and if you are stopping by the museum, check this place out while you're at it. Thanks for reading.

Yelp
We went to see a movie screening at the Hammer yesterday and stopped by Lulu afterwards for a bite and a drink. The food was fine and the service was very good. Unfortunately, when we got our check I was shocked that they added an 18% service fee. WTH??!!! And then they added a nice little paragraph at the bottom stating what the charge is for and that it would be nice if we still tipped the wait staff. We still tipped the wait staff because they did a good job, but the whole tipping culture, service charges, "resort" fees thing is completely out of hand. Either absorb this into the food charges and let the customer decide if they want to pay the posted menu/food price or post these fees before you sit down - let the customer decide if they want to eat at a place that charges an extra 18%. Don't blindside your diners with extra charges AFTER they've finished their meal!! Not coming back.

Yelp
Food We had a number of different food items for sharing: - parmigiano with dates and almonds: simple but really good. Almonds were crispy with some sort of coating on them. Kicked them up a notch by dipping them into the provided sea salt and pepper on the table. Parm was delicious. Wife loved the dates, said they were the juiciest she's ever had. (4 stars) - scallop ceviche: was pretty tasty, but the salmon roe were too fishy for us and we ended up eating around them (3 stars) - rib eye: this was much more of a tapa than a main dish that we were expecting. The meat was delicious and well-seasoned. So were the accompanying veggies, but they seemed a bit too al dente and were difficult to cut, let alone eat. (4 stars) - melon and ? gazpacho: it was ok but more than half of it was left (and it's a small portion) (2.5 stars) - arancini: crispy balls of goodness. Some loved them, some just thought they were ok. (3.5 stars) Value - overall food wasn't bad but portions were small. They were more like tapas small plates so they are more for snacking, but at full entree restaurant prices, the value is not good. Service: - our server was a bit strange. I know that's a hard thing to describe, but he didn't smile, didn't seem to have a personality - he gave us the almond cake at the end by mistake, but then said he wanted us to try it (I think to cover up his mistake) then had to take it off the bill later - the GM was nice but honestly stayed a bit long, talking about my daughter going to college, etc. (partly my wife's doing) Ambiance - we sat in a table outside. it was a nice table with decorative lights near a big tree. Felt good to be out in the summer.

Yelp
Solid lunch place. Delicious sandwiches. Loved the gnocchi. Really tasty small bites and teas The ambience is beautiful and nice for socializing and groups Service was friendly and prompt. Good recommendations made by Nathan. Chocolate pave not dense or too light. It was a great flourless cake.

Yelp
The best museum cafe I've been to in the US. 4 stars because as usual museum food is a little too expensive but the sandwich and dessert were delicious and the drinks looked good although we didn't get any. Service was lovely and I loved the space for a nice casual lunch or a celebratory one!

Yelp
I may have found my new favorite sanctuary! Lulu is located in the Hammer Museum. The outdoor restaurant vibe is super chic and cool. I felt like I was at a modern museum in Mexico City. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable! I could have lunch here everyday. The menu is seasonal and I'm excited to go back and bring friends and family.

Yelp
An elegant space with incredibly beautiful ambiance from the famous Alice Waters! Located on the floor of the Hammer Museum, this is a great place for a fancy lunch, early evening cocktails, or a celebration dinner. They have a daily prix fixe 3-course menu that you can get at lunchtime as well as a la carte items. The farm-to-table menu changes often depending on what's in season and it's on the pricier side, but you can definitely see and taste the quality in these dishes. They have a lot of tables and a large bar where you can eat. Reservations are necessary as it gets packed even for lunch.

Braedon J.

Yelp
The food is good, as is the service and ambiance. Here's the problem, and it is a problem, which is why we'll never come back. I really didn't like the surprises at the end, including an 18% service fee added in -- which the server conveniently neglected to tell us -- leading us to nearly add an additional 20% on top of that. Then the $20- valet parking fee because we apparently lingered too long. Restauarants need to get their costs in line with reality, and hitting customers with sneaky fees at the end of the night spoils what was clearly an enjoyable evening out. If the business costs go up, add them onto the menu items. Don't spring surprises on us at the end because that just plain stinks.

Yelp
Gorgeous location on the grounds of the Hammer Museum. Beautiful indoor/outdoor decor and vibe. Relaxed but professional service to match. Menu is brief but with a point of view. Farm to table, fresh, local, sustainable. David Tanis of Chez Panisse past. Simple but flavorful. Elegant of it's type. This is a lesson in quality ingredients that speak for themselves. Respect. A dish as simple as almonds, dates and parmesan that was truly the perfect starter. Less is more. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
Back a second time for lunch! Lulu's ingredients are so fresh; they freshly pick ingredients every morning from nearby farms and farmers markets. Their main meats/seafood are with farmers they work with frequently, all sustainable and ethical farms. The taste may be a little on the fresher and less intense side, but that's for the ingredients' natural flavors to shine through. The restaurant is located in the Hammer Museum, in a cute outdoor garden area with chic and aesthetic ambiance. The service, many of whom are UCLA students, are very friendly and know the menu inside and out, despite the fact that the menu changes frequently according to the season and freshest available ingredients.

Yelp
Amazing venue under the Hammer museum in a beautiful outdoor courtyard, but really underwhelming menu and jarringly lackluster service, I think unusual for LA! Came here for lunch with out-of-town guests, noticed right away that the menu was pretty light. Indeed, in hindsight it was probably telling of the small portion sizes when our server mentioned that a toddler once ordered 6 of a sandwich on the menu (in response to her recommendations on kid-friendly dishes)! It was impossible to get anyone's attention, almost as if servers were avoiding any eye contact at all. One did kindly adjust the sunbrellas though throughout the course of our meal, which dragged on from the slow service. I guess I wasn't surprised when the tip ended up being included in the bill given the blasé service, but I annoyingly missed it and still added a regular tip on the prominent tip line. I didn't want to scrutinize the looong bill in front of my guests, given that we were trying to fill our appetites! Most all times I've founded servers will give you a heads up as a courtesy, but ours didn't mention it at all. Overall, pricey, slow, and unmemorable dishes. Would go back only maybe for the venue. Or skip it and just go for the museum :)

Yelp
A perfect dinner after a a few exhibits at the Hammer Museum. This will not be a cheap dinner so save it for the weekend. We started with the almonds, parm, and dates. The almonds are nicely oily with rosemary. Dip them into the salt and pepper. Honestly the pepper is ridiculously good. There's a depth of flavor you won't find from standard supermarket pepper. The salt is a flakey sea salt perfect for finishing. Otherwise you get two dates and some parmesan. If there was some honey the dish would be absolutely perfect. Still some of the best almonds I've had. Next we had a salad with persimmons, walnuts, and Roquefort. It also came with persimmon slices. Technically we got frisee which is related to endives but in my opinion tastier. It came with a light vinaigrette. The contrasting flavors and textures were well received. If I had a single criticism, the cheese should have been crumbled smaller to make it integrate into the dish better. Pate was good and came with pickles and toast. The toast was pretty much white bread. Nothing to really say. The pickles have dill on them but taste like a "quickle." It's pretty plain after the crunch. The pickle flavor is almost all on the outside. The pate itself had a strong chicken liver flavor and had tons of chunks in it. I absolutely was eating it by the spoon. Onto the steak. The gratin was a slice of potato pancake. The watercress was fairly plain and raw. The chanterelle mushrooms were cooked well and had a bit of a fried crunch with some nutty flavor. The steak itself was perfectly medium rare as requested. There was a mildly hot pat of butter on it, tasted like horseradish, butter, and chives. Of course the meat was amazingly tender. We also got the grouper. The tapenade was somewhat haphazard and fell into the background. Green beans were surrounded by some herbs. The fish was quite solid but not overcooked. Think halibut. You get fairly plain baby potatoes of a few varieties and some baby artichoke hearts. Finally we had the chocolate pave. Supposedly it's fairly gluten free but I doubt it. If it was almond flour I'd expect them to mention it due to food allergies. Regardless it was very tasty and surprisingly light with the cream. The pave wasn't very dense and had a good chocolate flavor to it. Next time I check out Hammer, I'll get a drink for Lulu at least.

Yelp
I loved my dinner here! Every dish we ordered was delicious. Beautiful courtyard setting with excellent service. The chanterelle pasta had a light rosemary flavor that was phenomenal. Pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. The goat cheese salad was incredible. The light flavorful dressing was superb and the goat cheese was so yummy and served warm. I loved it so much. Clark Street Bread with the goooood kinda butter. The scallop ceviche was fresh but the blue corn tostada was a little on the hard side for my liking. Great meal in a lovely museum courtyard. $8 flat rate parking on weekends. I recommend going to the museum then hitting up Lulu for a meal afterwards.

Yelp
The food was great and our server was very nice. However, the aspect that put a damper on our meal was the rudeness of the hostess. Firstly, I will talk about the food. The frissee salad and grilled vegetables were delicious, as well as the pasta and chicken pate. The selection of cheeses could have been a bit better balanced - 2of the three cheeses were quite on the strong side. The scallop ceviche was ok, but I felt that the combination of ingredients could have been better. The portions for both entrees and appetizers are quite small so it's better to order multiple dishes to feel full. Now, regarding the service. We found upon our arrival, that parties size 8 and up must use the prix fixe menu, which amounts to $65 per person. The 18% service charge for groups is ok, but the prix fixe menu was too limiting in options. They had plenty of tables and we decided to split our group into two so that we wouldn't be limited by the prix fixe menu. The last two members of our party were talked down to by the hostess when they asked to sit at a separate table - with a tone used when talking to children. The hostess seemed visibly upset and annoyed toward all of us, and it made everyone in the group feel uneasy This place is simply not good for groups over 7.

Yelp
This might just be the best restaurant I have been to in Los Angeles. The food is so fresh and interesting, and the service was great. They offer a $75 set supper, but we ordered a la carte (the sea bass and the prawns) and everything was wonderful. Will definitely return!

Yelp
Wonderful ambience and great food and service in a unique setting. Our server Karen suggested some dishes we shared included a great fried artichoke salad and the mixed lettuce salad was dressed to perfection. The fettucine dish with beef and pork was prepared with a lovely bolognese sauce and great pasta. Also highly recommend the stemple creek ranch steak which was cooked to perfection and enjoyed the sides of onion rings and potatoes. The drink menu is inventive and highly recommend the gimlet.

The food was delicious. Sitting outside so special. Wow on the uni and eggs app and duck confit. The service was great. Also enjoyed a yummy mocktail.

Yelp
Didn't expect much from a museum restaurant. Was I wrong! I had one of the best sea bass in brown butter sauce ever. The portions are small and pricey ($27) at lunch. The chairs are very hard and uncomfortable. And there's no ambience to the outdoor plaza. No matter. The food is delicious and service very professional. Friendly from busboy to waiters. N.B. Be sure to get validated. Only parking is in the museum building; validation brings it down to $8.

Yelp
I don't even like surprises, but I love the ever-changing menu at Lulu. The emphasis on what's fresh and available is awesome, and it's the perfect representation of California cuisine. You don't come here for the coffee, but sipping a Cortado or Cappuccino inside an art museum is truly lovely. The food is simple, but everything is the best of the best. The Baked Sonoma Goat Cheese is sweet and creamy, surrounded by the freshest salad you'll ever eat. A White Bean Soup has notes of savor in an earth, thick puree, and drops of chili oil add a gentle bite. A Spicy Eggplant Banh Mi is made with the tenderest of eggplants between bites of potent pickles. The prix fixe plate has an incredibly soft grilled chicken, dripping juice. The asparagus is still almost crispy, and even the potatoes taste more like potato than any other potato I've had. Desserts are fun too and not too sweet. A Brown Butter Almond Cake would have gone best with one of those coffees, and the Chocolate Pave is simply a square of cake without flour. My descriptions do no justice to the full and forgotten flavors of fresh vegetables and fruit. Everything here is super understated so if you want fancy plates and strong sauces, maybe go somewhere else, but if you just want simple food prepared in the freshest, most flavorful way possible, Lulu's is worth a visit.

Yelp
Would have been 5 Stars, but we weren't told about an added service charge that appeared on the bill, with optional gratuity - thankfully we had a phenomenal waiter and we all still added tip!! In addition to the food being excellent, the ambiance-the indoor/outdoor design in the courtyard of the Hammer Museum, is so beautiful and tranquil. We also ordered the homemade chips, and rustic bread with salted butter.

Yelp
Love Lulu at the Hammer! Great stop for drinks and small bites. Everything was beautifully plated, delicate, and delicious, though I'm not sure they warrant the $$$ for the small portion sizes. The service was wonderful and the atmosphere was adorable.

Yelp
We went for the first time for lunch Christmas week. So we were there to get the full experience. By half way through our meal, we'd already decided to make lunch at Lulu a new holiday tradition. The food was thoughtful and delicious, we had a hard time choosing between all the things we wanted to try. Scallop Ceviche was a favorite. We also enjoyed every bite of the clams, the farro salad, the celery root soup, and the apple crumble. They sounded simple, but were full of scrumptious details and we would happily order any of them again. Our server was great. Knowledgeable and friendly. Service ran really smoothly even though it was busy. The space is beautiful and comfy. We'd planned to have coffees with dessert but they said there was a 15+ minute wait. It would have been kinda lousy of us to stop them from turning our table while we just sat there dawdling for all that extra time, so we passed. Wasn't clear if the coffee bar timing is a normal issue? In the future, I might ask if I should place a coffee order early so we could finish our meal with it.

Yelp
What a difference a warm welcome made in our day! We'd been stuck in traffic because of a presidential visit to LA and It took us over an hour to go two miles. We were an hour late to our lunch reservation and I was frazzled. The hostess was so welcoming it reset our day. Yay for the amazing hostess! Service was prompt and friendly. We had our sparkling water with the wine and cocktail following in short order. We'd been in the car a long time! I really enjoyed the daiquiri. It wasn't a silly strawberry thing but a mature and slightly funky libation made with rhum agricole or at least it had that yummy depth. I didn't order the roasted tomato and eggplant soup because there are many way that could go wrong in my mind but happily my spouse did. It was delicious. I respect a place that can make a delicious soup. My chickpea dish was also very good and felt light. We followed those with the Chicken Milanese and the penne pasta ragú. Both were tasty and the meal left me feeling content but not overfull. As for the ambiance, you are in the Hammer Museum sitting across from the mesmerizing Machine Hallucinations: Nature Dreams at least until Nov 8, 2022. I have no idea what might be next. It was lovely to enjoy good food and drink in such an environment. I took a spin in the top like chairs after the meal.

Yelp
Excellent food served by very professional waiters/waitresses. First class wine list, too.

Yelp
Staff was really nice, but I can't believe lemonade was only 6oz, including ice. I would rather pay more than the $6 and get a decent size. I never right reviews, but this was disappointing.

Yelp
Located in the Courtyard of the Hammer Museum. Free parking underneath the building, enter on Westwood Boulevard. Ambiance- the courtyard was gorgeous, lots of umbrellas on a very hot afternoon. 5 stars. Food - started with the Matcha Latte - too much cream, very bland. They offered a $48 prix fixe menu (bean salad/Greek meatballs/ grape granita). Ordered the tomato soup / served lukewarm- not hot at all.. caprese salad with heirloom tomatoes - excellent; bean salad on the prix fixe - not great; chicken Milanese- very good; pasta with zucchini, squash blossoms and ricotta - lots of buttery goodness. Food - 4 stars Service - 4 stars. Our waiter wasn't that attentive. We shared the entrees and the dessert and he didn't bring any plates for the shared desserts - that should be 3 stars but they gave us a free lime daiquiri since it was my friend's birthday..4 stars

Yelp
There really isn't a lot I can say about Lulu that isn't obvious already. I mean, the menu is simple in its composition yet exquisite in flavor combinations, freshness, colorfulness, and pure delight. Bonafide farm to table. In fact, I visited while doing a ride-along with my friend who purchases fresh produce for the establishment. I accompanied her to pick fresh mulberries from the bush along with edible flowers and other delicacies from a family-owned small farm right in Compton, and then we delivered them straight away to Lulu and paused to enjoy a meal. We ordered a pre fixe lunch and appetizers to share (see photos for details). We also were invited to partake in the staff meal. That brings me to a very important point: Big hats off to Lulu for providing a living wage and complementary meals and humane working conditions for all its staff. The staff meal comprised items that were not on and in fact RIVALED the regular menu. Get on payroll and you got a bonus there! The exclusive ticket to the best food in/on the house!

Yelp
Fabulous lunch, incredibly fresh ingredients through out. I got the pre-fix lunch, son and wife got a la carte. Melon with Indian spices appetizer was inspired and refreshing. Vegetable curry with saffron basmati rice was great - wasn't heavy while while still being filling even for this traditional meat eater. If this was what all vegetarian meals were like, I'd become a vegetarian.

Yelp
I'm sorry to give this restaurant such a low rating. It's a lovely setting and close to my house. The food quality is generally good. Sadly, There is much room for improvement: (1) serving sizes are small - everyone in our group needed to order two items to get even a smallish meal (2) the menu is limited, with very few healthy options for a farm to table restaurant. (3) the prices are quite high for what you get. A cup (not a bowl) of vegetable soup for $14 or a small burrata salad (and I mean SMALL) for $21. (4) the menu descriptions are missing critical elements. Even with a lot of help from our waiter, several people in my group received dishes with unwelcome surprise elements (the chicken was breaded/deep friend but did not say so, the soup was described as having basil when in fact it had a parmesan pesto).. The night we were there the restaurant was understaffed. We waited a long time to place our drink order and then waited again to order our food. Once ordered, it came quickly.

Yelp
Super rude service at the bar counter for lunch. I tried a little small talk, light questions, asking for a recommendation on menu, etc, and got borderline hostile answers and an attitude from the start, got served an iced tea in a small whiskey glass, and received nauseatingly over-greasy and super soft Gnocchi, like food at an airport. In addition, they include a "service fee" on the check where you aren't sure if that's included gratuity or extra fee. When I asked the bartender, he mumbled it was a kitchen staff fee. Should inform customers beforehand. Ambiance is nice though in the courtyard.

Yelp
Service and ambiance was amazing. The waitress was extremely nice and attentive. The overall vibe of the restaurant is nice and good for a date especially after touring the museum. The prawns were delicious with the perfect amount of savory flavor, and so were the potatoes. The chocolate desert was flavorful and the texture was great. My friend and I felt full after eating the meal. However, the ceviche was a little lacking (although the presentation was great) and so was the agua fresca. Ultimately, some items are worth the price while others are not. Would come again but would not order the ceviche or agua fresca.
