2/5 - First and Last Visit at Augie's
It's a pretty Saturday morning, so we decided to try a new spot. The wheel was spun and landed on Augie's, located at 1220 Caroline St, Atlanta, GA 30307. I checked out the website and, after reading some of the reviews, we decided to give it a try.
As I write this, we're now an hour into our visit -- and we still haven't received our food.
Upon entering, I stood for over six minutes waiting for someone to greet us so I could find out whether we should seat ourselves or wait to be seated. We were eventually greeted by a beautifully seasoned woman with a great smile and pleasant attitude. She seated us on the patio, and about ten minutes later a server appeared to take our drink order.
It took another fifteen minutes for her to return -- with only water (which no one ordered). She answered our questions about the menu and said she'd return with our drinks and take our food order. Ten minutes later, she returned with only two of the five drinks and finally took our order.
At this point, it had been an hour and ten minutes with no return to the table and no food. I finally went inside to ask about our order, and another server was sent to check. A few minutes later, the food arrived.
The food was medium-hot, making me wonder how long it had been sitting in the window. Presentation was okay, but the taste was just average. The Parmesan cheese overpowered the shrimp and grits, and the pancakes had a slightly gritty texture.
Overall, this was not the relaxing brunch experience we hoped for. Service was extremely slow, and the food didn't make up for the wait. I absolutely never have to return.
