Battersea’s Best Restaurants | Where to Eat Near Battersea Park | Eater London

"Augustine Kitchen is every bit as rich and delicate as the region it celebrates: Evian in the French Alps, where champagne and quenelles of things whose prices are best left unknown are scooped up, feet still attached to skis. Finely tuned pâté and pastry aside, the restaurant is dainty and delightfully outfitted. It serves up girolles en masse, bouncy pieces de cod and langoustine covered in buttery sauces and/or hidden in tartlets. There are good wines, good cheeses, the place is leafy and the prices reasonable. By all accounts, a hidden gem." - Josh Barrie

This place defines the term ‘hidden gem’. My partner and I had seen this place hidden in plain sight on the high street for about a year and decided yesterday was the day we try it. From the outside, it looks a tad bland but when you get in, the restaurant is stunning with ambient lighting and plants littered around. Agnes, our waitress was incredibly attentive and gave us lots of information about our food and its French culture. The food itself was delicious; I had the pate and my partner had the onion soup (a very French dish apparently) which was followed up by a fantastic steak. Additionally, the wine selection was vast but not unaffordable. Dessert did not disappoint either, having the ‘floating island’ which was amazing. It was extremely tasty yet not too heavy. All in all, an extremely good restaurant. Will be back here again!!

Went in on a Friday night on the off chance they could accommodate a walk in of 2. And they could! Food was great! Decent prices. And lovely wait staff. Would definitely come back to try other dishes!

We had five dishes after the dentist and all of them were top class. Will go back after my next dentist appointment.

Beautiful, candle-light French restaurant in Battersea. I very much enjoyed my visit at Augustine Kitchen! Since the very moment of arriving, staff was incredibly responsive and kind. Food was great and nicely presented. The wine list was rich, giving the option to choose among various pairings. I certainly recommend visiting Augustine Kitchen, you will not be disappointed! I will myself be back pretty soon!

Everything was absolutely delicious from the simple onion soup to the grilled entrecôte steaks with mustard butter. The wine list was excellent! We loved it so much and I'll definitely be back soon!

Google
This restaurant came highly recommended and was well deserved if such commendation! Service was a delight, the food was delicious and my only complaint is that we have to wait until September to return as they’re now away for August on what I am sure is a well deserved break!

Google
Better French food than in Paris. Run by a charming French Lithuanian couple. A favourite for our family

Yelp
If you are over the age of 65 and have no taste buds left or if you are English and think that bland is a flavor then this is the place for you! Onion Soup tasted like water. Food was completely under seasoned had to salt and pepper the sea bass, the lamb rack and the sides because they had NO TASTE! Dessert was warmed in microwave-take a look at the picture of mousse. Chef had no clue there was anything wrong with the food. Although if you complain they will take it off your bill. How about making an effort to make better food???!!!!!!

Yelp
Spotted Augustine Kitchen a couple of weeks back and decided to use Valentine's Day as an excuse to head along. What to say. It was good. It didn't blow me away, but it was good. I booked online and received an e-mail confirmation. A few days before the booking I received a reminder e-mail, but I had a niggling feeling that I'd booked a slightly earlier time. As the day came around I thought I'd check my e-mails - and yes, my booking had changed from 8 to 8.30. I called to double check what time they were expecting us. It was 8.30, they said there had been a booking clash. It didn't bother me in the slightest, but I thought the e-mail would have mentioned that the time had changed. The next strange thing was that when we turned up at 8.30 the restaurant was hardly even half full. I was surprised our booking had been changed, but again, didn't really bother us. The food was nice, but not as good as I had hoped. Our mains were both a bit on the cold side which was disappointing. I was really hoping it was going to be great as it would be a good 'go to' just around the corner, but unfortunately I can't see us making it a regular on our list. Prepared to give it a second go though - will report back!

Yelp
We had a wonderful lunch at Augustine Kitchen, the lunch menu is a fair price, it includes a main dish plus a dessert! We had roasted potatoes with notes of rosemary and oregano, and a succulent oven roasted chicken breast. The food tasted fresh and delicious, it is a quiet little restaurant tucked away from the loud noises of central London. The dessert was a tasty little cake with fruit baked into it, I haven't stopped thinking about how delicious it was! The service is efficient and staff is polite and helpful with the menu. Would definitely come again!

Yelp
How do you make a place 4+? My group had a wonderful meal... focus on the word FOOD. The service was very good but there was a long delay for our final bill. Nevertheless, we'll be back for certain.

Yelp
Slow service and disagreements with the chef over the preparation of a fish dish. Ultimately concluded it was inedible but we were charged anyway...the manager refused to take it off the bill. C'est la vie...

Yelp
Rather unassuming when you walk by on the street, but once inside, AK is nicely appointed with a modern/semi-formal feel. We had a fantastic lunch of pan fried foie gras with black ink polenta, pike mouse with lobster sauce, french onion soup, braised pig cheeks and a few glasses of wine. Everything was delicious, nicely presented, and we'll be going back again. The homemade bread was equally fantastic. If you're looking for great french food cooked by a chef who takes pride in his work, then you'll be happy to have made a trip here
