Spotted Augustine Kitchen a couple of weeks back and decided to use Valentine's Day as an excuse to head along.
What to say. It was good. It didn't blow me away, but it was good.
I booked online and received an e-mail confirmation. A few days before the booking I received a reminder e-mail, but I had a niggling feeling that I'd booked a slightly earlier time. As the day came around I thought I'd check my e-mails - and yes, my booking had changed from 8 to 8.30. I called to double check what time they were expecting us. It was 8.30, they said there had been a booking clash. It didn't bother me in the slightest, but I thought the e-mail would have mentioned that the time had changed. The next strange thing was that when we turned up at 8.30 the restaurant was hardly even half full. I was surprised our booking had been changed, but again, didn't really bother us.
The food was nice, but not as good as I had hoped. Our mains were both a bit on the cold side which was disappointing. I was really hoping it was going to be great as it would be a good 'go to' just around the corner, but unfortunately I can't see us making it a regular on our list. Prepared to give it a second go though - will report back!
