Curiously enough, even though we have stayed at the Beekman Thompson hotel twice (the restaurant is located in the hotel's ground floor), we have never dined at Augustine before. Upon learning that Markus Glocker, the illustrious Michelin-star Chef of Bâtard Tribeca took the reins of Augustine, we felt we couldn't procrastinate any longer.
And a right decision it was! Great delicious food, expertly prepared and appetizingly plated. Such a great balance of the traditional French fare, bistro style, served in a typical Belle Epoque brasserie interior, and a modern twist, newer and surprising ingredients, with the addition of the Chef's native Austrian staple dishes (Beef Goulash with buttermilk spätzle, chicken dumplings, veal schnitzel, or the Viennese wedding soup) - all of the above combined to create an entirely positive dining experience. What a delight!
The lovable service provided by Katya, the affordable prices (a true epitome of "rapport qualité prix"), and a nice wine list all were an added perk.
We already booked our second dinner there, in less than a month.
Highly recommended.
