"Behind this Englewood mainstay is a heart-stirring story about owner Aung Kyaw, a refugee of Burma by way of Thailand, and his dream come true of running a restaurant with his family by his side. But diners don’t have to know it to appreciate the homestyle warmth of his repertoire — here’s the place to come for extra-saucy drunken noodles; colorful crab fried rice; zesty catfish red curry; and bouncy, aromatic jungle curry laden with crisp veggies." - Ruth Tobias

Walked in and ordered take out upon arrival and it was ready within 10 minutes. Got the drunken noodles with pork medium, plus spice, and the crab wontons which came with a sweet and spicy sauce. Very authentic; extremely kind staff!

Google
A fantastic place! My partner’s favorite in town. They honor the spice level you request, and they are delightfully efficient. Great portions, flavors, and noise level (ie not glaringly loud! Wonderful). We really enjoy eating here. The fried tofu is a consistent order for us. Highly recommend.

Google
I have tried many Thai restaurants in the Denver metro area over the years and I am so thankful to finally have found the best spot to get some amazing authentic Thai food. I've been going to Aung's for a year now and finally getting around to writing a well deserved review with some great pics. The service is always quick, welcoming and friendly. The food by far has always hit the right spot and been delicious!!! Hands down the best Thai in Denver. I've tried at least 10 different menu items and have been pleased with every one of them. The Pad Thai is my favorite with Pad Prik King being a close second. Don't pass this place up and go support a family owned authentic place to eat. Hope you enjoy their food as much as I do. 😍

Google
My wife and I have been going to Aung’s for many years and the food has been consistently very good. We ate there again last night and were shocked by the increase in prices. We have a takeout menu from a few years ago and some of the prices have increased almost 50%. Many of the entrees are now $20 and a glass of ordinary Cabernet is $14! Sad to see this, and Aung’s is no longer on our list of favorites.

Google
3.5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Family owned Thai restaurant. Service is great and staff is friendly. The food in my opinion was ok. Although I do recommend you go check it out as most folks think this is the best Denver based Thai restaurant - this is only my second Thai place in Denver so I don’t have much to compare against. It doesn’t seem vegetarian or vegan friendly when it comes to appitizers but entrees seem to be ok. The Tofu Larb was decent not anything special has its cubes tofu. If you have had chicken Larb before you know traditionally it’s minced chicken but can’t be replicated for tofu. Veg spring rolls were good and crispy and will recommend. The drunken noodles and pad Thai were bland and could use some more flavor perhaps more salt and spice.

Google
Go. Here. The Mussamun curry was exceedingly wonderful. Both the portion and the flavor were pleasing; I had leftovers of tender pork, crunchy peanuts, and delicate potatoes and onions. The spice level was accurate to what I ordered. Our waters never ran too low, and the appetizer came out at a good interval before the main course. All in all—excellent service by an overworked dining room staff (just one person)! The fried tofu was also a great dish. I wish they would use a slightly softer tofu, but the sauce was really good.

Google
This place has the best Thai food I’ve ever had. Any where else doesn’t compare. The food is amazing and quick, and the serving size it worth the price. The service is amazing too!

Google
Hands down the BEST Thai restaurant I’ve ever had! (And that’s a lot) The food is amazing and the authenticity is even better, the family is wonderful and the commitment to their food is palpable. I can’t rate them high enough! I’ll be a forever customer.

Yelp
Sooo yummy!!! Very fresh and flavorful dishes. Finally found a Thai spot that embraces spices with actual heat! Highly recommended

Yelp
I got the pad Thai mild plus! Between mild and medium. Mild plus has the tiniest tiniest spice to it so they gave us red pepper flakes on the side which helped give it a good kick. It was still really tasty without the spice but I will probably stick to the medium in the future and try to handle it! Ok confirmed, I will get the medium going forward! My friends like the panang curry.

Yelp
Visiting the Denver area , my friend and I Ventured into Englewood to visit a Mid Century home neighborhood , Arapahoe Acres .. as we passed by Aung's Bangkok Cafe we decided we'd stop by after touring the neighborhood. Boy ,am I happy We did.... It's a cute little place, nice and clean. I was happy to patronize this family owned restaurant, as I'm all for independently owned businesses. I began by ordering Thai iced tea . A great refreshing warm weather drink. My friend and I decided to share everything, the best way to taste more than a single entree. We began with Spring Rolls, I most often begin with them. These rice paper wraps filled with rice vermicelli , mint, cucumber, bean sprout, carrot and lettuce served with peanut sauce were a good beginning, light and healthy. We ordered two dishes which came with an abundance of rice on the side to soak in the beautiful sauce of the Red Curry . Eggplant is so good in Thai cuisine, something I rarely cook properly at home. The choice of protein was between: Chicken, Pork, Beef of Tofu. We chose Pork. The sauce was delicious, this coconut red curry was probably one of the best I've had anywhere. The dish included purple eggplant, zucchini, bamboo shoots and Thai basil, bell pepper was also an ingredient that we asked to leave out. Our second dish was Basil chicken, stir fried with onion, mushrooms and the Thai basil in house mixed soy sauce , The chicken was ground which we both really liked. In fact my friend was devouring it. This was a lovely meal to share with my best friend. I was impressed by how quickly the food came out and the service was good, as our water glasses were always filled. I have to say that I will return next visit to Denver. It was so Delicious! An awesome meal.

Magda C.

Yelp
I say 3.5 for the food, red curry was good but not very good. My friend said his green curry with chicken was ok. Portions are large.

Min K.

Yelp
Among the top 2 Thai restaurants that I have tried in Denver. A mom and pop joint in Englewood with food made by people who are clearly passionate about cooking. Some of my favorites The Papaya salad - fantastic! Fresh grated papaya perfectly seasoned without the fish sauce being too overpowering. Crunchy peanuts contrasted the soft papaya Cashew Chicken - the chicken was done perfectly with great proportions of carrots, cashews and bellpeppers. Leftovers tasted great re-heated the next day as well Pineapple curry - what a flavorful experience. The spices, heat, and coconut combined with explosive bites of pineapple was out of this world. We ordered mild, and it definitely left our mouths tingling. A definite must-get. Overall - minimally (but perfect) decorated restaurant with service that was not particularly fast or overly welcoming, but the food is definitely worth going back. My last lunch there took about 40 minutes to get food out after ordering so maybe not the best place if your are limited for time

Alexis Y.

Yelp
Came on a Friday night around 8 PM and boy was the place busy. Luckily got a table for two without having to wait. There's a small parking lot in the front and you'd be lucky to get a spot, if not, there's parking on the streets. Staff was friendly although they were running around like crazy. Papaya salad- if you love fish sauce like me, you'll like this salad 5/5 Pad Thai- wish it was less sweet and came with a lime, but they were out 4/5 Garlic pepper pork- nice charred flavor to it 5/5 Green curry - we might just be more of yellow curry kind of people. I enjoyed the bamboo and eggplants in it 4/5 Mild + spicy level was good for me. I find eating 10 hot Cheetos in a row spicy

Harm R.

Yelp
Ok, this place used to be amazing ....when they cared about customers. Now it seems they have already made all the money they want to because they are rarely open, you never see Aung in the store anymore, and they calling....good luck.

Evyn S.

Yelp
Only tried one thing from Aung's (pad thai), but wow . This place came recommended to me by a friend, and I am so glad I tried it! The pad thai was great. I ordered medium level spicy and felt hot level heat, but I appreciate the accuracy because when I order "medium" level spicy at Indian restaurants, I get low level heat...so cheers to actual spice. I also tried my friend's pineapple and chicken fried rice which was equally tasty. Portions were not small! Prices were more than I expected for this type of place (location, aesthetics, etc.), but for the portion sizes it seemed more fair. I will definitely be back!

Hector B.

Yelp
This was amazing! My fiancee and I came here because of the solid Yelp reviews, duh! No disappointment! Service was great and quickly all over it! The restaurant was clean and very basic. The food was the show! Tasty! Fresh! Hot and more than we could eat.

Katie S.

Yelp
We love Aung's. Friendly staff and really tasty Thai cuisine, one of the best Tom kha soups in the area. Basil chicken, pineapple fried rice and curries are all delicious. We like medium plus spicy for a little kick. Ambience is casual and they do have wine/beer.

Mackenzie W.

Yelp
One of my favorite Thai restaurants! Everything I've gotten has been so good- my favorite is the pad see ew. The staff are all amazing and the restaurant is really cute.

Tavani C.

Yelp
Friendly, familial atmosphere. Tidy, with no frills. Our server kindly asked if we wanted to move tables because we ordered so much food for two people (no regrets). Excellent vegan and vegetarian variations which are chock full of vegetables...and they take their spice levels seriously! I was hoping the larb would have that light, fresh, minty flavor but it was more like fried tofu with shredded lettuce on the side. The panang curry was a little heavy on the turmeric, and drunken noodles could use more basil. All still tasty! I'd easily return again to try more of the menu!

Yelp
After going through major staff turnover as well as a pandemic, Aung's seems to have finally gone back to normal for the most part. Their appetizers can be hit and miss sometimes- they seem to run out of some items for a week or two at a time. They finally took steamed dumplings off the menu for this reason. Made me wonder if they were having them made off site somewhere. The food is exceptional. Probably the best Thai food in Denver. Careful ordering anything above medium+. They don't mess around when it comes to making food spicy. Everything I've had here is top-tier.

Emma J.

Yelp
We have attempted to get takeout from here so many times, however, we can never through on the phone. We finally decided to just go in on a Sunday night and were able to get a table. We started with the crab cheese wontons which were delicious. We then got the pad Thai, woon sen pad Thai, and the red curry. Everything was very tasty but my favorite thing was definition the wontons!

Y S.

Yelp
The food was too spicy and sweet. They had no chopsticks to provide customers! What in the world, make so sense

Bo R.

Yelp
Anytime I'm visiting the DTC this is a guaranteed stop. Rich and deep flavors with great heat. I haven't tried anything I didn't enjoy. Portions are generous, they don't skimp on your protein. Service is quick and friendly. I love Aung's!

Melissa S.

Yelp
This used to be our go to Thai, especially for take out. My sister was visiting from out of town so we called about 6:15 pm on a Saturday evening but couldn't get through. We decided to order there in person and wait since we were not in a hurry. There were 4-5 tables with patrons, not packed. They did have a lot of orders for pick up on the counter. When we got to our turn at the counter and asked to place a to go order, the man said it would be 45 minutes. We said no problem, we were not in a hurry. He seemed very put out but did take our order. We came back 45 minutes later on the dot and it was ready. No other orders were there for pick up. We ordered beef pad Thai and sweet and sour chicken. Both were still warm when we got home. Unfortunately, we were disappointed in the flavors of both dishes. I guess they are victims of their own success. It is a pleasant atmosphere to dine in. I think it is still owned by a young family which we liked to support.

Matt G.

Yelp
Awesome food and service. Nice to find some authentic Thai in Denver! Pad Thai and Spring rolls were delicious!

Dunlap D.

Yelp
I have been going to the Bangkok Café for a long time and I normally order their Pad See Ew. today I tried their pad Thai with tofu for the first time and was very disappointed. Just almost all rice noodles swimming in too much sauce, with no green onions, very little peanuts or bean sprouts.

Samantha R.

Yelp
YUM. I was craving some Thai food while in town and so I did a quick Yelp search. I am so happy I chose the come to this one!! The pad Thai is on the sweet side. It's also loaded up with chicken and delicious. The flavors are extremely good and far better than other pad Thai in the area. I decided to try the crab cheese wontons. I ate three of them all on my own. They are fresh and crispy. Honestly extremely pleased with them. The staff is super nice and you can tell they work really hard. I will be coming back when I'm in town!

Justin G.

Yelp
This is a decent Thai restaurant I found in Englewood. The Panang Curry is good, with a flavorful sauce and fresh vegetables. The Pad Thai had lightly fried tofu with wide rice noodles (similar to Pad Siew) It was different than the thinner noodles normally used, but it was still good. The egg rolls were densely packed with chicken, and they were delicious. The service was decent, and the dining room is spacious. This place would be recommended for decent Thai food.

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
We came here on a Friday night to satiate some pad Thai cravings. The restaurant was busy but we were fortunate enough to get seated right away. Once seated, service was a bit slow. They were friendly and nice and honestly we might not have noticed if we weren't so dang hungry. We both ordered pad Thai- I got mine medium heat with shrimp, my fiancé got mild heat with chicken. When the food came out, we were happy with the portion sizes. The heat level for medium was great. Hot but not too hot. I was also happy with the number of shrimp that came on my dish. My fiancé was also very happy with his, although he said maybe he could have gone up a bit in spice level. Overall, the food was really good and would be happy to come back for takeout!

B A.

Yelp
It has been a while since I have been here since Aung's became overwhelmingly popular. So much so, takeout took up to an hour and you'd have to go into order as the phone wasn't being answered most of the time. I am not sure if I just got lucky but on my latest visit, it only took 20 minutes, like olden times. The portions are ample and the pricing is reasonable. The food is scrumptious. This remains the best Thai food I have had in Colorado. Note that dine in appears to be back to what it used to be.

Mary Y.

Yelp
I wanted something delicious and this place hit the spot. I understand that due to employment short staffs we didn't get quick services. One think i would like to suggest is instead of water bottle do cups and give pitcher water at the table. It's hard to eat when you dont have anything extra water to swallow the food. Most of the food i got were spicy and I wish there was some water to help me swallow the food. I have a high spicy tolerance but i was really thirsty as well. I got the drunken noodles and basil chicken. One hot and the other was thai hot. They were both really good. The fish curry was delicious, i really enjoy that meal. The ginger stir fried was decent. We ask for beef but they made it with chicken. However, no fault in that. I would recommend this place to anyone who want to eat some delicious thai dish. The larb ... it was different from larb i have try. This one was more on the sweet side. But everyone make different kind of larb. The thai ice tea was really good. One more thing, parking is not the greatest thing here. So make sure to bring a smaller car or park on the street!

Rachael M.

Yelp
Such a wonderful local Thai spot, very consistent and quick takeout! Go to is the pad thai and thai tea but you can't go wrong!

Doen L.

Yelp
First off, the Pad See Ew here is amazing! The flavor of the noodles and the way the broccoli is cooked is fantastic. If you like wide noodles, that's what you're getting here! I usually add beef to my order and get medium spicy for a bit of a kick. That being said, ordering by phone is not very reliable. I called four times to try to place an order and ended up going in person to get something to-go. The restaurant was packed on a Friday night and there were people standing and waiting to be seated. My order ended up taking an hour to be ready, but was still delicious. The restaurant has an open design and it can get pretty loud in there when it's full. The space is simple and informal but also has a touch of style. This is definitely one of our favorite spots in the Englewood area. We love the family backstory on the website as well.

Dru A.

Yelp
Definitely has gone downhill. Pad Thai didn't taste very good (too sweet) and the service was poor. It took over 40 minutes to get our meal. Too bad. This used to be my favorite.

Dana K.

Yelp
This small Thai restaurant did an excellent job putting together about 25 orders for me. I came in around 11am when they opened, ordered all the meals and about 30 minutes later, it was all ready! The food smells so good, with a basil smell being a dominant olfactory delight! My customers loved the food...we also got both meat and vegetarian Thai eggrolls so everyone could have one with their lunch. My customers ordered so many different things and they all looked and tasted amazing. You get to choose your spice level as well, from mild to medium to spicy. I chose Pad Prik Khing with chicken. It had bell peppers, green beans, carrots, and yellow onion with the chicken in a chili-paste soy sauce. It was spicy and delicious. I think it's my favorite Thai dish ever! The lunch portion came with rice and was just 10.99, plenty of food! The dining room is not open right now, so it's take-out only. They are trying to hire more people. If you live nearby or can do the takeout; I highly recommend!

Joyce S.

Yelp
Delicious food. They do a lot of take out but I have dined in too. Everything I have tried is excellent. My daughter is gluten free and they have loads of options that are gluten free which is awesome. So take it home or eat there. The food is terrific.

Maddy K.

Yelp
Got food to go - highly recommend! Chicken pad Thai Chicken pad see ew Crab wontons Everything was delicious! Will come again.

Kayla C.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible. None of us had been before and we all will be back soon. All four of our dishes were full of flavor with the perfect amount of spice. Unfortunately they were out of spring rolls and dumplings today so we just went straight for the main event. Looking forward to exploring more of this menu!

Kevin C.

Yelp
Hands down the best Thai food in Denver. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. It is a must try.

Marcus C.

Yelp
Drunken noodle, pad Thai, Panang curry. Portion size, taste, and price is great. I'm a big fan of panang curry, tried a bunch in Denver, and this one is pretty good. The portion size for take home is great, especially for the price. There was a nice balance of meat vegetable and curry. Overall I would go back. Not the best Panang I have had in Denver but definitely a good one

Ariel M.

Yelp
I need to get a bit more creative with my menu choices, but every "safe" dish I've tried here has been great and I plan to venture out next time. The spice level is legit for me, coming from New Orleans. Adding this to my list of take out places.

Kurt D.

Yelp
Quick Hits: Strip mall, parking tight, great food The area is a little sketch for big city folk but during normal business areas, we felt very safe. The interior of the restaurant is very clean, trendy and fun. I loved the solid wood-top tables. The wait staff was friendly and fast. They suggested many vegan options. Unusually, they brought out two meals first, five minutes later the third meal and about 5 minutes after that brought out the 4th and final meal. Having only eaten here once, I don't know if this is normal operations or not. The food was VERY good. The vegetables were cut to the right size and were all fresh and cooked to perfection. The rice was tender yet had a good solid feel to it. The sauce was flavorful and really added to the overall entree. All in our party had similar meals: Tofu, brown rice and a good flavorful sauce. We will definitely return here again.

Derrick G.

Yelp
Aung's Bangkok Cafe is a superb Thai Food Restaurant. We ordered the Panang Curry and Woon Sen Pad Thai (Pad Thai made with glass noodles). The Panang was good, but the Woon Sen Pad Thai was exceptional. The Woon Sen Pad Thai had incredible flavor and the noodle choice transformed this dish. The staff were very attentive and friendly, this was an incredible Thai dining experience.

Traci R.

Yelp
I'm craving Thai food! Being from Hawaii, I need to satisfy my Thai food craving even if I'm on vacation! And Aung's Bangkok Cafe did just that! LOCATION: Although not located in Downtown Denver, this restaurant was decently close to our hotel so we chose to take a drive. Free parking is available right out front and we never had a problem the both times we went. The restaurant has removed all dine-in options, but we were fine with takeout! FOOD: As I searched on Yelp, most of the photos were of their noodle dishes. We ended up ordering the Pad See Ew with beef and the Pad Thai with chicken. When we received our order, I was a little underwhelmed at the size of their containers. "$12.99 for such a small portion?!" Boy, was I WRONG! It was HEAVY and we ended up with leftovers! We were not disappointed at all! The flavor was amazing and the noodles were soft! However, the noodles were broken pieces, but no biggie! Between the two, my favorite was definitely the Pad See Ew! In fact, we ended up returning to Aung's the following day for dinner yet again. This time we placed our order by phone so it was ready for us at pick up! Since I loved the Pad See Ew so much the first time, we ordered it yet again and I was still in love with it. We decided to try something different as I wanted a little more veggies so we chose the Garlic Pepper Chicken with Vegetables. Mmmmmm I'm drooling writing this review! I was super impressed! There's various levels of spice but we chose mild because ya girl can't handle heat hahaha! SERVICE: The staff was great on both occasions! Very friendly and efficient! I wish I had gotten her name, but she even remembered we had come the previous night and she was so appreciative of our support! If they came to Hawaii, I would definitely visit them! Do I even dare say that I like this restaurant more than some in Hawaii?! While I probably won't be heading out to Colorado in the near future, I have definitely added this location to my bookmarks to visit if I ever find myself there again! If you happen to be around the area, I highly recommend stopping by if you are craving some Thai food! :)

Busta B.

Yelp
Great food, stellar portions (if you order in, definitely not as much food if you do takeout), extremely friendly staff on multiple occasions. Can't ask for much more.

Caroline N.

Yelp
Amazing! I love the Tom Kha here and the sticky rice is always fresh! I definitely recommend Aung's

Kelvin M.

Yelp
This place was BOMB. Everything we had here was good. We got medium plus spice for everything. Spring rolls: the peanut sauce stood out. Super tasty, but the spring rolls fell apart too easily. Crab fried rice: this was my second favorite of the day. The crab fried rice was delicious and perfectly spicy. The crab itself was very tender as well. Pad Thai: would've been my favorite if it weren't for the curry and the crab fried rice. The pad Thai was phenomenal and the perfect blend of spicy, and a little sweet/sour. The lime really cut through the heat as well. Panang curry: my personal favorite of the day. The curry itself was super flavorful and had a complex medley of flavors. Tom yum soup: very solid soup. Very delicious, and very spicy!

Sam C.

Yelp
Stop by for lunch and this place is awesome. The food was really good and fairly priced. We got the spicy basil seafood and the pad see ew. The basil seafood had awesome flavors and something that i would def recommend. The pad see ew was equally good but we ordered it too spicy. If you can handle spicy go for it. We still new to the Denver area and have been exploring places to eat and this place is one we will revisit. The service matches how good the food is.

Darrelle G.

Yelp
Just to update ** you absolutely 100% CAN call in to-go orders here, we do it every week. Sometimes you have to call early and often to get through, but that's cause these guys are legit and haven't given into door dash Uber eats etc! If you're not committed to the process you don't deserve the glory of aungs. New favorites: drunken noodle with beef spiced medium! And the Thai steamed dumplings. Chicken pad Thai and chicken panang curry are classics.

Terry M.

Yelp
Closest to genuine Thai food I've found so far. No frills, clean and comfortable. Prices about average I would recommend this restaurant

Alice Z.

Yelp
Heard a lot of good things about aung's so we had it check it out! There was no wait for dining at around 630pm but after we finished our meal the tables were all full. Tried the fish curry and chicken pad see ew. Flavors are very good, my only complaint is that the noodles were a little flat (I prefer a little chewier/thicker noodle). Portions sizes are huge! Service is a bit slow but I don't blame the restaurant - I think it's because they seem to be short staffed

Hilary B.

Yelp
Aungs is one of the better Thai places in denver! I ordered Pad See Ew with chicken. I ordered it mild and the sauce was the right amount of sweet and savory. The portion size was perfect! The place was a hole in the wall, so not very fancy, but definitely worth it. The service was ok. We waited for about five minutes at the front door before being greeted and seated. Overall I wish our waitress would have checked in on us a little more. I will be coming back to try more items on the menu!

Gaby Z.

Yelp
My god. Best Thai in the city. Love this small business. Get the pumpkin curry! So so so good. Service is quite quick usually. They don't do delivery, but it's worth the hassle to get pick up. Nothing exceptional about the dine in experience but clean and nice nonetheless.

Leslie T.

Yelp
Pad Thai is my favorite! Real Thai traditional ingredients and authentic. Service is fast and this place does fill fast so make sure to call for pick up or go early.

Eri D.

Yelp
One of the top 2 places for Thai food in Denver. Very authentic and big portions. Got food to go and it was all delicious. Highly recommend crab fried rice. Perfect flavoring. And they use real crab in the wontons.

Sally M.

Yelp
When my J's Noodles & New Thai failed to answer their phone for takeout yesterday, and I definitely wanted to stock up on Thai takeout for the second snowstorm this week, I found Aung's Bangkok Cafe. I started with the Massaman Beef Curry last night for dinner, and it was phenomenal! Highly recommend! However when I ate the chicken Pad Thai for dinner today, I was disappointed. It was definitely sub-par Pad Thai, compared to J's Noodles & New Thai here in Denver, as well as my go-to Thai delivery, Thai Square, in NoVA/DC, as well as numerous Thai favorites in San Francisco. The Pad Thai was simple, not complex, not savory, and though the noodles were the right texture, there was not enough going on with it to be of my normal caliber. I have yet to try the Pineapple pork fried rice, but will do tomorrow. Also, another thing that was super disrespectful and annoying: my dad died of COVID - at a hospital nearby this restaurant! So for the male cooks working in the back, who brought my food to the front for pickup, to fail to wear masks, when they had a sign asking patrons to wear masks? That was incredibly disrespectful. UPDATE: The Pineapple pork fried rice was delicious. So I added a 4th star, given 2/3 dishes were delicious. But it is odd that the Pad Thai is sub-par, given that's usually the barometer of a good go-to Thai place.
