LA’s New Restaurant Openings - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"This new casual daytime spot in Mid-City is pairing fresh biscuits with fried chicken, a breakfast combination we can definitely get behind. The menu is a mix-and-match situation with three types of biscuits (buttermilk, chive and cheese, and everything) plus fillings like sausage gravy, pimento cheese, strawberry lemonade jam, or spicy fried tenders with pickles and slaw.  " - Sylvio Martins

We just found this place. Note that their hours are a little odd. I don't think they are open Monday or Tuesday and I think they close early. So get there for breakfast or lunch and you will be full and happy. The place is so cute. I love the way the outside is painted, this cute orange. Inside is spotless. You order at the counter and take your food away. Please add a few seats. The service is just great. They will help you with the menu and when you order, you get exactly what you ordered. Their prices are fair. Parking is fine. Their food is just amazing. We love their biscuits. They have the best biscuits and gravy. We love all their biscuit sandwiches, they have chicken, breakfast biscuits with whatever you might want in it. And they use cheddar cheese and not horrid American cheese. Thank you for that. Their chicken is just great. You can have fried chicken with biscuits. Their lemonade is super tasty. It is Black owned. I am one happy camper.

Gorgeous food, delicious flavors, perfect biscuits and crispy chicken. These are just some of the things that make Beulah’s an incredible place to eat. Their staff is always friendly and helpful, the space is clean and inviting, and I will be going back to this spot weekly for excellent flavor and friendly neighborhood interactions.

Auntie Beulah's isn't just a meal, it's an experience. From the fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth bacon, egg, and cheese biscuits to the hella hot biscuit's fiery kick, every bite was a flavor explosion. Let's start with the star of the show: the poutine gravy fries. Creamy, cheesy gravy blanketing perfectly crispy fries - it's the ultimate comfort food, elevated. The chicken tenders were juicy and perfectly seasoned, offering a delicious crunch with each bite. For a sweet treat, the French toast sticks were heavenly. Dipped in maple syrup, they were soft, fluffy, and the perfect way to satisfy a sweet tooth. But wait, there's more! The smothered biscuits were smothered in rich, flavorful gravy, making them a hearty and satisfying dish. And the cheesy grits? Oh my, the cheesy grits! Creamy, cheesy, and oh-so-good, they were the perfect side to any dish. Speaking of sides, the banana pudding was a delightful ending to the feast. Fresh bananas layered with creamy pudding and whipped cream - it was the perfect touch of sweetness to top off an incredible meal. A special shoutout to the hella hot biscuit. This one packs a punch! If you love spicy food, this is definitely for you. It's not for the faint of heart, but for those who dare, it's a flavor adventure worth exploring. The service was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall warm and inviting atmosphere. Auntie Beulah's is more than just a restaurant; it's a place where you can feel the love and passion poured into every dish. I can't wait to go back and explore more of their menu! Highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for delicious Southern comfort food with a modern twist. 5 stars all around! P.S. You won't regret ordering everything I mentioned, but if you have to choose, the poutine gravy fries and hella hot biscuit are must-tries!

This is my second time ordering at Beulah’s. Honestly, I love the concept! The food is fresh so don’t be coming in Rushing. Yet from my experience of a single order meal, you can usually get your food in about 15 minutes or less. I ordered the chicken sausage, egg and cheese on a chives cheddar biscuit, and the bacon, egg and cheese on the same cheddar chives biscuit, fluffy & excellent every time! The real sweet treat is that their coffee is fresh and strong. I usually get the iced coffee with oat milk.

Disclaimer: I'm from Louisiana so I might be biased! The mac and cheese had no flavor. The greens were spicy but no smoked meat or meat flavor. I've had greens without meat but these weren't for me. The chicken has a good crust but that's it. The biscuit was okay. I'm glad I tried a new place though. I'm not being mean just giving my honest review.

Google
Wasn’t able to take pics before inhaling the food, but it was amazing — the fluffiest biscuits, delicious gravy, and the chicken is so crispy and flavorful. The service is great, staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. We will definitely be ordering from here regularly!

Ordered this for delivery and it certainly delivered! Highly recommend: Beulah’s Biscuit, Beulah Special Fries, and Mac N Cheese. It was our first time, we can’t wait to try other things on the menu! Wish Uber had their drinks for order because other reviewers are calling it out. Food travelled well. Devoured it before we could snag any pictures.

Google
I really really really like this place!! Like REALLY! Food is great and delicious!! I always get a “sando” and it’s truly incredible how the biscuit and chicken just blend together for such a tasty bite! They also have great lemonades and don’t forget to make it a combo with some GRITS!! Truly recommend this spot!!!!

Yelp
My dear sister kept raving about Beulah's and I promised her "one day I would stop by." Finally did and had a positive experience. Menu seemed a bit busy and I didn't know what to order so I settled on the Chicken Tenders combo with one side. The chicken tenders were nicely fried. Had more of a savory taste but it was acceptable, also it came with a side of chive sauce. A tasty complement. The biscuit was great and it came with the honey butter. The Mac & Cheese was very good as it had a home style presentation using traditional elbow macaroni. Overall, for $15 a nice meal. The place is warm, service is quick. It is located in a strip mall on the corner of Pico & La Brea so parking is tight. I got lucky and found street parking so it was perfect to zip in and out. Auntie Beulah's has a nice variety of biscuit style sandwiches, all made to order. So if you've got the taste of some down-home biscuits give them a shot.

Yelp
I had a big craving for fried chicken and talk about luckin, I was literally driving by this place and hit a hard turn right into the driveway. I've never been here before but I am always hopind to find something new. The place is very interesting. There is no seating besides the bench for waiting. And you will be waiting because your food I believe is cooked fresh and chicken takes some time. I ordered the chicken with a biscuit and mac and cheese. So the chicken was delicious , I wish i would have had some hot sauce or honey for it. The biscuit was also good. They have other flavors I need to go back and try. The Mac and cheese, I would rate it about a 7 out of 10. In all I was it was a good meal, I enjoyed it and I will definitely be back to try some other items. I'm glad I stopped. Next time I'll grab a tee because they have lots of product in the store.

Yelp
I like the decor and the vibe - bright and to point. The chicken biscuits were tasty. The gentleman assisting w the order was excellent and informed of the menu and food preparation. We ordered an original biscuit chicken sausage breakfast sandwich and Hungry tenders with a chive biscuit and grits. The fried chicken definitely has its own recipe which was refreshing. The grits weren't cooked well done enough for me but they had a good flavor. I didn't feel the need to add butter. That molasses butter was subtle in the best way possible; I never thought to combine the two. Early in the morning the sausage biscuit was all me on the second visit.

Yelp
I have been eagerly awaiting the opening of Beulah's Biscuits since I first saw them put up the sign! I went as soon as I could and I'm so glad I did. I placed an order online through ChowNow to pick up in store. As of now, it looks like it's take out / delivery only since there were no tables inside. Luckily there is a parking lot (even though it was a bit of a nightmare with tight spots, I'll never complain about free parking). Food was hot and fresh when we arrived, with incredibly friendly service. I ordered the Cheesy Bird (Fried Chicken + Pimento Cheese + Pickles) with a side of fries, my boyfriend got the Snack Basket (2 pieces of fried chicken + one side + a Biscuit + one spread), and a mac n cheese to share. Everything was incredible. This was also a little too much food for us, but we didn't care because we were so excited to try it. The chicken was perfectly juicy and crispy. Fries were decent. And I was genuinely impressed by the mac n cheese! I'm usually picky about mac n cheese because I can't stand the fake flavorings or when it's soupy. This was definitely a family recipe and was baked, as it should be! Everything is clearly made with love. Next time, I would honestly skip the sandwich and opt for the chicken baskets. The sandwich was honestly a noticeably worse deal ($14 for one piece of chicken and a biscuit vs $15 for 2 pieces of chicken, a biscuit, AND a side). Plus the biscuit completely fell apart with the sandwich. Don't get me wrong, it was still fabulous, but now I know for next time. I'll still try the breakfast sandwiches though!

Yelp
3 years, everyday I've driven passed this restaurant anxiously waiting and we are finally here! Limited hours for now, Wed-sun 8am-3pm. Check IG for updates. First, the colors and energy are super welcoming. Follow that with the warm smile and great service from the staff. A simple menu with hella options (LOL) that'll definitely have you coming back to try different combinations until you find your Wednesday and Saturday favorites. Light/ dark meat and bone-in/tenders are options. Please note if you want white meat, grab those tenders. No seating, takeaway only. Shared parking lot and plenty of metered street parking. THE FOOD Shack Basket: 2 piece bone-in light meat (thigh and wing), a side, and biscuit. The chicken is nicely seasoned and fried to a good crispy texture. I suggest add the spicy seasoning. Tenders: 2 tenders, a side, and biscuit. BOMB! I don't like dark meat so, tenders are going to be my thing here. Well seasoned and delicious. The biscuits: yeeeeeeeah. Definitely the highlight. We got to taste all three; buttermilk, cheddar chive, and everythaaaaang that make ya saaaang! That molasses butter is hitting for the people too. I'm looking forward to returning to try the sides and beverages.

Yelp
Whew y'all! Don't walk. Run to Auntie Beulah's! Finally got a chance to check this place out after hearing great things from my co-workers. Let's start by the warm welcome from the owner when each person walks in the door: "Hello friend!" The place is take out only, but the space inside is bright, warm and inviting (and there is a little bit of seating available while you wait for your order). I ordered the Beulah's Biscuit sando which comes stacked with fried chicken, a fluffy egg, onion, pickles and chili honey. All of that on one of there made-from-scratch biscuits is just perfection. I also got a couple of cheddar chive biscuits with strawberry lemonade jam and maple cayenne butter. Yum! My mouth is watering just writing this lol. Parking can be a little challenging as it is at the corner of a super busy intersection and the shopping center it's in has limited availability. And I didn't love that, although fresh, the orange juice was $8. But overall fantastic experience and I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Like others I've been excitedly waiting for this place to open. Today my patience was rewarded with an amazing dining experience. I easily snagged a parking spot despite the busy lot. Upon entering I was greeted and warmly welcomed by Aryn who introduced herself as the owner. She walked me through the menu options and explained that the name of the place is a shout out to all of the aunties and other matriarchs from the Southern US who dedicated their lives to feeding us. Having grown up in Bama I can vouch for authenticity of the food here. I opted for the basic Beulah's Biscuit on an original buttermilk biscuit. The serving of chicken was massive and overflowed my biscuit and was cooked to perfection---juicy, tender, delicately battered and well seasoned. I also had a side of grits that were hot and creamy (not cold and clumpy like most that I've had around town). The fresh squeezed OJ was the perfect companion to my meal. I was very impressed with the clean and smartly appointed interior. A few merch items are displayed along with products sourced from other local Black owned businesses. I can't wait to go back. Love the fact that they have a customer loyalty program (powered by Toast) so that means repeat customers will have rewards down the road. Some have balked about the cost / but those with discerning taste should know that the quality makes it worth every penny!

Yelp
I went by this morning for the first time and I'm sure I'll be back to try more menu items soon! A special thanks to Harvey for walking me through some of the options and his favorites. For this first visit, I ordered the chicken sausage breakfast sandwich on an everything biscuit - definitely the star of my order! It was hearty and the biscuit was fluffy and flavorful. It came with folded egg and shredded cheddar cheese. The sausage was house made and much bigger than I imagined. It tasted fresh and well seasoned but I personally wish it had more of a spicy kick to it. You have option to make it a combo with grits but since I'm not a fan of grits, I opted for a separate side of greens. They confirmed the greens aren't made with pork. It was a bit small but I enjoyed them (thankfully not too salty). I also ordered the biscuit banana pudding... and I unfortunately do NOT recommend it. Instead of the traditional wafer texture, it's made with what seems like baked biscuit crumbs. The appearance is more granola-like, but the texture is soft, and it just didn't hit for me. I wish it had fresh banana, but my particular serving seemed a bit old, with only 2-3 slices of banana. It felt a bit more like a parfait than the classic banana pudding. I would love Beulah's to consider offering a sweet potato or pumpkin biscuit bread pudding as a dessert alternative. That might be a delightful twist that better showcases their biscuit expertise. (Or maybe seasonal shortcakes in the summer- strawberry, peach etc.) Lastly, I ordered a hot black coffee which was decent but nothing to write home about. Note: this is takeout only. The wait was 5-10 mins (they'll text you!). Parking was easy around 9a on Saturday in the strip mall. Might be nice to still have some music playing inside/outside to extend the vibes. Looking forward to going back soon!

Yelp
I got the Beulah's chicken sandwich! It was delicious, I have no complaints about the sandwich however $16 for a chicken biscuit sandwich is outrageous. They should consider lowering the price between $8-9. I'd definitely recommend them having a breakfast combo that comes with a side to justify the price. or make it $18 and you get a coffee as well. I just can't justify a $16/17 biscuit sandwich. I probably won't be back but it was tasty and i'm glad i tried it! Service was also great! Very friendly.

Yelp
I was wondering around looking for something new. I saw a review and I noted the friendly reception folks referenced-- since I value my funds I appreciate that, so I tried it. Food Good Service Friendly as promised, place clean attractive-- I will be back

Yelp
I have been seeing this place and I decided that I wanted to have a chance to try it! I got it on DoorDash and I gotta say I wish that I went in person because it was lukewarm by the time I got it The chicken was well seasoned which was good! The macaroni and cheese needed a bit more seasoning and the biscuit was dry! I'm definitely going to try again and hope I can update my review

Yelp
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day so I pulled up and ordered an everything fried chicken biscuit. It was a very generous portion, well seasoned and fried to perfection and soooo yummy. Sorry no pics, I was hungry BUT I will be back !!!!

Yelp
Is this supposed to be a healthy version of soul food ?? Because that's what's it's giving.. there's no seasoning food is bland ,greens taste like the need to be sitting on the stove longer ,Mac and cheese is dry and no flavor at all ..the house lemonade taste like some medicine.the only thing that was good is the biscuits... For 40$ I would not be back

Yelp
The Best chicken strips ever. I found "Auntie Beulah's," by way of Google. It all happened one morning when I was in search of some chicken strips near neighborhood. And wow! Did I hit a gold mine. My chicken strips were hot, crispy, chunky, and delicious all at the same time. It was just impossible for me to just eat all four chicken strips in one sitting. I hope they stay the way that they are now. And don't get caught up in the hype, like so-many other restaurants have do, and start cutting the chicken in half and losing flavor... I wish y'all the best and I will be back soon. P. S. I almost forgot about the homemade biscuits! People don't sleep on those biscuits either.
google avatar

Yelp
Needs some work. The fries are soggy and saltless completely. The chicken tenders the breading doesn't coat so it just slides off. Aunt biscuits were a no. Everything just needs some salt. Somewhat bland and too thick some of the dough in the center is still uncooked. Disappointed.

Yelp
We've been eagerly awaiting the opening of this spot after seeing the name pop up on the building (wonderful logo and graphic design work, BTW!). There is SO much to love about this fantastic new takeaway restaurant. My partner went to pick up the food, and said the woman working the register was super nice. They clearly have their stuff together and any kinks worked out food wise. On taste alone, there's a lot of beauty going on here. The chicken is well-brined and well-seasoned so it comes out juicy and tastes more like lovely herbs than just a salt/pepper/buttermilk/cayenne thing (though nothing wrong with the latter either--this is just, well, even better). It comes off almost a little like that very high end fried chicken that chef Ludo was making at those popups all those years ago. The batter isn't greasy, either. It's just fantastic, and a nice alternative to the other available fried chicken in the area at Gus's and Roscoe's and Honey's Kettle-Fried. . Biscuits are very good!! We tried all flavors. What stood out to me the most was the gravy. This gravy is EPIC. It's a perfect dish. A creamy (outstanding and house-made) chicken sausage gravy, it's herby and salty and fatty-but-not-greasy from the sausage. The whole thing is well emulsified and perfectly seasoned (I think I got thyme and maybe sage?) and tasted a bit like thanksgiving. I can't wait to have this again. Absolutely stunning. The butters are wonderful. We tried the maple cayenne, the molasses butter (my personal fave), the herb butter (had some nice rosemary in it), and the strawberry lemonade jam. The sweet ones offered a really nice counterpart to the salty-savory food. My kid also loved the fries, and if you steal some fries and dip 'em in the gravy?! *chef's kiss* Can't wait to try the grits. So great to have this wonderful new place in the neighborhood, and we're thrilled to have another wonderful Black-owned restaurant to support. I didn't grow up with an Auntie Beulah but I'm happy I have one now!!

Yelp
On my second trip this month, and let me tell you, I'd follow Auntie Beulah's Sando into a food coma any day. Now, chicken sandwiches and I usually play a game of "meh," but this one? Baybeeee! The chicken's so juicy, it could moonlight as a water balloon. The everything biscuit? Well, it's pure genius. The first time I had this sandwich, I didn't eat again until 10 pm that day. As I write this I'm currently in a food coma, and my plans for the rest of the day? Canceled. But hey, totally worth it!

Yelp
I had the fried chicken sandwich omg..10/10!! And then the everything biscuit. My goodness. Def coming back.

Yelp
Heard about Auntie Beulah's from an article in the LA Times, and since it was close to my office I figured I'd give it a shot. I am SO HAPPY that I did! The chicken strips are insanely good, with great crunch on the inside and tender juicy chicken inside. They're really seasoned to perfection, they were so good that I don't think they even need a dipping sauce, they're amazing on their own! I also had a side of fries which were pretty tasty, and an amazing traditional buttermilk biscuit. I will absolutely be back for more!
google avatar

Helen I.

Yelp
Delicious! Biscuit was bomb and they were attentive with the service. Definitely would go back.

Leonard B.

Yelp
Great food excellent service with thank you and a smile. The atmosphere is comforting and inviting. ONCE VISITED ALWAYS PREFERRED. Towards Auntie Beulah's continued GODfavor in self family your buisness and inward from the community.

Yelp
Ordered take out and it was the perfect size for two people! Three biscuits and the chicken box. The chicken was DELICIOUS- wow. Don't be afraid of the hella hot spice - it's a nice sizzle but nothing that will hurt. The chicken was so tender and the batter delightfully delicate. Don't skip the Cole slaw - amazing! I was not a fan of the grits nor the buttermilk biscuit but the chives was excellent. Will definitely be ordering the chicken again, so so so so good compared to other chicken joints!
google avatar

Tosha P.

Yelp
Tasty interesting flavors. I'll return for sure! Everything Biscuit was phenomenal as well as the strawberry lemonade jelly.

Rissa B.

Yelp
So sad this place is temporarily closed. The biscuits and grits were delicious. I really hope it comes back even if it's a pop up shop

Yelp
I wanted so badly to send a pic but while driving home I decided to grab a few fries and take a piece of the chicken and that was it. My food was devoured on the way home to the Southbay area lol. All I have to say is that's some good eating right there! The chicken is very flavorful with a nice crunch and the fries are scrumptious. Will be back!!
google avatar

Santanya L.

Yelp
This place is AMAZING! The chicken is the best I've ever had! It's so delicious...and the biscuits are to die for! I could go on and on about the fries, the coleslaw and once again the BISCUITS!!! They come with delicious custom butters...

Troy P.

Yelp
These 5 star reviews are lying, be honest Way overpriced dry, no seasoning. Or I must of got a bad batch I dunno. Go try it and be honest please.

Yelp
Excellent food, service, and ambiance! I was greeted with kindness, smiles and assistance the moment I walked through the door. The biscuits are fabulous. Definitely try Beulah's Biscuit! The chicken was cooked to perfection and with pickles, onions and the sauce - chef's kiss deliciousness! Glad to have a new Sunday morning post golf stop!

Yelp
Just awesome! I've eagerly been waiting for this place to open, because IHMO as a Southern girl, there are not enough good biscuits in LA. Auntie Beulah's definitely hit the sweet spot. I had a chicken sausage breakfast biscuit with egg. (The sausage is homemade.) It was delicious. Special props for the side of grits. Creamy and delicious, especially with a dollop of herb butter. I'll be back. Maybe this afternoon. :)

Florence B.

Yelp
Best biscuits in Los Angeles my sister got it going on best her butter best preserve she is unequivocally the best

Taylor C.

Yelp
So freaking good! I wanted to support a small business after hitting the dispensary and Beulah's blew me out of the water delicious! They even carry Kelis's brand bounty and full lovely vibes on the inside go don't think just go delish

Alyssa M.

Yelp
These biscuits are awesome! Portions are huge. The chicken is juicy and moist with a crunchy exterior . We tried the Beulah's biscuit and the cheesy bird. Both good but would stick with simpler one. Will definitely be back

Yelp
the food is nasty greens taste like water and vinegar . chicken taste like they used white salt and old grease. nonetheless the host was nice. food is trash

Megan P.

Yelp
The food is so good! I ordered online and pickup was a breeze, the woman up front was very nice. I got the smothered biscuit and the gravy is fantastic. I also got the sausage egg and cheese biscuit, the flavors really complimented each other.

Yelp
Good food, super rude service and staff who obviously don't care about customers returning. We love supporting small businesses and were excited to find this place. First order was great, second time we went back my fiancé made an online order. Despite this, he still waited upwards of 30 mins. Okay, they're busy. Except they asked his name when he got there, and then proceeded to ignore him and he had to ask before being told our food was ready in a bag, sitting there. For who knows how long. Annoying but okay they're busy. Gets home to find half our order missing. We submit a request and they refund the part they left out. No apologies. I reach out, they ask what happened and I answer and they blow me off. It's been over a day since. Don't bother unless you have a ton of time to waste, don't mind spending money with people who don't care about even being polite to you, and won't even apologize for their mistakes. Plenty of other great small businesses around here with awesome staff.

Arian W.

Yelp
We asked for thighs they gave some boneless nonsense. The chicken sausage was like tofu and the hostess hyped everything up. Btw you might hurt your teeth on the hard biscuit French toast sticks.

Wednesday A.

Yelp
I eagerly awaiting the grand openings this restaurant while visiting LA, just to be highly disappointed in the food that has been ecstatically hyped up by patrons. the biscuits was chalky and dry as the Sahara desert the chicken was overly cooked and the gravy was bland, hopefully I just caught a bad batch, are they worth a retry. I thought I was eating a piece of wood on sandpaper with it covered in vomit.
