Aunty Maile's Hawaiian Food Review - Torrance - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Before they opened in Torrance in 2018, the owners of Aunty Maile’s ran restaurants in Kona and Las Vegas, spreading legit island cooking across the mainland like Johnny Appleseeds. Now, they call the South Bay home, where they’ve become a local name for huge portions of dishes like chicken katsu loco moco and oxtail soup in a casual, counter-service setting. Though they also offer a few flavors of ahi poke, our move is the mixed plate. Pick two proteins—we like the sweet-and-sticky furikake fried chicken and the meaty grilled kalbi—and they’ll load a plate (or takeout box) with rice and a big scoop of their peppery mac salad. Keep an eye on the daily specials, too. The sweet and sour spareribs on Tuesdays and beef stew on Saturdays are certified winners." - Garrett Snyder

10 Delicious Things to Eat in LA While Watching the 2020 World Series - Eater LA

"Sometimes a big plate of fried chicken thighs slathered with katsu sauce or even brown gravy placed over some white rice, and maybe some macaroni salad is exactly the thing to munch on while watching the Dodgers obliterate the Tampa Bay Rays. Aunty Maile’s is known for massive portions, so virtually any of their plates work as ballgame food, from kalbi short ribs to slow-roasted kalua pig. Aunty Maile’s. 6300 Crenshaw Blvd., Torrance. —Matthew Kang" - Matthew Kang

Staff was friendly and helpful. Came at 1PM on a Saturday and was pretty busy. The portions are super generous and the food is delicious! Furikake chicken is an absolute must and the poke was solid as well.

The food here tastes just like home. I was pleasantly surprised to find they have fresh poi to go with my island grinds. They got all kine poke, even some like I used to get from Foodland. The staff are local folks so the hospitality is just like being home on the Island. If you're missing home or just want some ono kine grinds, this place will hit the spot. A must visit if you're in the area.

Our food was okay. We just moved from Maui so we were craving local food. The lady was super duper nice to everyone else but kinda short with us because I ordered the spare ribs she said she didn't have but it was the daily special and then she forgot our spam musubi we paid for so we had to drive back and get them after we called. She said she didn't charge me but I pointed out the two $2.50 charges on the receipt and she said I could either come back or she'd give me a credit for next time. Probably won't be a next time so we drove back after we ate in Alondra Park since home is about 40 minutes away. She gave me an extra spam musubi and a bottled drink. Spare ribs were super oily. Chicken was okay. Large portions. Paid Hawai'i prices - expensive. Maybe we'll try the Normandie location since the reviews seemed good.

Finally got to come in and experience this place. I brought my parents to try this out with me because it didn't seem like a place for my vegetarian honey. We ordered the Kalbi ribs, Beef teriyaki steak and a Saimin. The portion size was huge, flavors were ono and service was quick. We will definitely be back to try more island dishes. Seating is limited, we may try take out next time.

Outstanding Food and Service. I had been wanting to try them out for awhile. Now mad at myself for taking so long to go. Bring your appetite. Great Value. Authentic food you'll go back again and again.
