If you’re looking for great food, a great atmosphere with grateful and beautiful people, look no further than Authentic EthioAfrican Kitchen and Bar!!! They have two locations: Phoenix on McDowell Rd and their 2nd recently opened location on Hayden Rd in Scottsdale. This was my first time at the new location. We were immediately greeted upon entering and instantly felt right at home. The owner’s attention to detail from the restaurant’s decor to the extensive menu that all vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters could enjoy is simply amazing! The owner, Anduale came out to inquire about our experience. He shared they had only been open for 2-3 weeks and had been working tirelessly to ensure the restaurant was properly staffed and trained to provide the best experience. I could tell he really cares about his customer’s experience. I have been to many other Ethiopian restaurants from DC, Philadelphia and Detroit. This restaurant is hands down one of the best I’ve visited. Their specialty drinks such as the robust Ethiopian tea made with cloves, cardamom, cinnamon and a touch of orange peel creates a festive explosion of culinary culture as it combines with the cultural spices of the food!!! Trust me, you will enjoy the cultural party sure to excite your taste buds with ear bite! If you enjoy Ethiopian food or have never experienced Ethiopian food, I encourage everyone to try out this restaurant. You will not be disappointed!!!

Some of the best Ethiopian food I have ever had!! Their chicken sambusas are perfect appetizers and I always bring home extra injera! Shiro Wat and Misir wat are my go to veggie dishes as well as spicy chicken doro wat! Ambience is authentic and appealing. An absolute best addition to Scottsdale dining! So glad they opened this second location close to home

This is my third time coming to this restaurant but the first time coming to the new location in Scottsdale and the food never disappoints! I’m starting to have a deep love and respect for Ethiopian cuisine. I ordered shiro wat and it came fairly quickly. The food was amazing and filling! My server was always there for me whenever I needed more injera or a refill of water. The ambiance was also very calming. I highly recommend this place for anybody curious about this awesome culture and cuisine!

Love the service here. Very friendly. The food was delicious. I think the flavors were a little different than the Ethiopian I am used to, but that’s just one person’s opinion, and I genuinely still enjoyed it very much. Felt very healthy and good in my body. Thank you!

I have a bias. If I go out to eat and it is not for Ethiopian, I almost always regret it! Having a place in Scottsdale makes that choice easier since I do not have to drive into Phx or Tempe! The food is top notch! Nice atmosphere. Grateful owner. The time from order to service was reasonable; I ordered a lot. If you haven't had Ethiopian before, you are missing out! This is a great place to start. :)

I recently tried this place for the first time after my friend would not stop ranting about how good it is at their location in Phoenix and yes I was not disappointed. I ordered the meat and veggie sampler. The spicy chicken was seasoned perfectly, and the veggies and sides were so vibrant and fresh—it all looked just as amazing as it tasted. The portions were super generous, and the quality of the food made me feel great about what I was eating. Definitely will be going back.

The food at this restaurant was good and arrived quickly, and the atmosphere was enjoyable. However, the service left much to be desired. The servers were inattentive, often disappearing behind the bar or into the kitchen for long stretches of time, making it difficult to get their attention. They were also out of multiple menu items and all soda products, but we were not informed of this upfront—we only found out after placing our orders. I specifically requested a Diet Coke and was told there was no soda available, yet the table next to me was later given a can of Coke from the kitchen, which I was never offered. Additionally, despite arriving earlier, two tables that were seated 15 minutes after me were served first. Until this restaurant improves its organization and service, I would not recommend it to friends or family.

The food was good but unfortunately the service was terrible. Our food (including appetizers) took an hour and 25 min to come, I ordered a hot toddy and it took 45 min to arrive. They also forgot to bring two food items that we ordered and then tried to give them to us to go and still charge us. This place has potential and it’s in a good location but service definitely needs to improve.
