"Japanese chef Nobuyuki Akishige, who boasts an impeccable track record (including spells at L'Atelier du Peintre in Colmar, La Vague d'Or in Saint-Tropez, alongside Arnaud Donckele, Le K2 in Courchevel and La Pyramide in Vienne), deftly creates subtle seasonal cuisine based on top-quality ingredients. A simple bistro interior provides the perfect foil to a streamlined repertoire of dishes; harmonious flavours result from spot-on cooking, as illustrated by the white asparagus, sorrel and almonds or the meagre, medley of courgettes, hand-dived razor shells and verbena." - Michelin Inspector

Yesterday I was at dinner celebrating my mother's birthday. We arrived at 7:30 PM with 5 other couples, after about half an hour, 2 more couples arrived. The whole place can accommodate 10 tables in total, it felt like all the delay was because each couple arrived at a different time. The restaurant is very simple and small, intimate, for the toilet there was one cubicle that was behind a curtain which was very strange. Even the chairs were not very comfortable. The food was amazing and very delicious. It was a 7-course meal. First, they served a starter and throughout the meal there was bread. In fact, the bread was on the table the whole time and was constantly being refilled, since each course came out every half an hour. After we received the third course, I called the waiter and asked if the estimated end time was 11 PM because I hadn't planned it that way. He said that the average time for the meal was 3.5-4 hours, which was already frustrating, I was hungry and tired. I wanted it to be over. The food was excellent and the price for 7 courses (145€) was not that expensive for a Michelin restaurant with one star, but this is something worth noting in advance. I kept eating bread between each course so that I wouldn't be hungry. Did I come to a Michelin star restaurant to eat bread? In the fourth course, the waitress came over and tried to explain that the chef prepares everything fresh and on the spot, so it takes time. This explanation doesn't work much, given that I've been to two other Michelin restaurants just this week, where the service was faster. It's clear to me that in a Michelin restaurant, everything is fresh and prepared on the spot, I didn't really understand the excuse. We asked for the bill before the desserts because we simply couldn't wait any longer, It was too long. I was very upset for my mother, who had this experience on her birthday. Overall, the food was amazing, but the service and speed were lacking, which should be taken into account.

It’s not reach a Michelin star restaurant. Food was average, services were fine and the atmosphere was not good. Full of greasy smell. We arrived the restaurant and seat next to the kitchen, its look like half open kitchen, the performance of the kitchen range hood is not good. Whole dining experience was full of greasy smell. The restaurant was full of house but lack of man power. It’s only 3 staff in the restaurant. We choice 5 course dinner set and added a morel dish. We prefer the wine by glass, they only bring the bottle to come over and did not offer any other option of wine choice. This is the first time I am in a star restaurant like this. The first course was crustaceans. It’s make like a cream and a cracker on it. A textureless cream with zero seafood fragments. Tasted oceanic but ate like *whipped air*. The second highlight was morel dish, its cost 30 euro with 3pcs morel. It was over price of it! It’s not worth of it. As each course waiting time was too long . 15 mins to 20 mins for each courses. There are two dish was good, turbot and Guinea fowl. Dessert was average. The bill over 250 euro for two. It’s not value for money and it’s had better restaurant in Paris.

The food was perfectly done, with one or two dishes being great, but overall lacked the sophistication and “extra factor” that you would expect from a restaurant at this level. Same for the service: nice and professional, but not proactive or going the extra mile. The place is okay, as is the decor - nothing that stands up. The bill brought some surprises, which is never a good sign. Overall, good experience but not worth the 220 euros per person.

Lunch was fantastic, and so was the service. Everyone in the restaurant was kind to us. Most importantly, my friend who I ate with is gluten free and they accommodated him. They also accommodated my allergy to scallops and squid, one of the main dishes for another group was scallops and we got another fish instead of me getting nothing! I loved the place and would recommend it to all! Obviously it is expensive but you get what you pay for.

Lovely and fairly affordable michelin star restaurant. The dishes were tasty and very colourful, and the wine pairing was a great fit. I particularly enjoyed the cooked foie gras and scallops from Dieppe. Our favourite wine of the day was a Clémentine (Théodore Planas - Rastoin), which accompanied the dish very well. The staff was tremendously friendly and comprehensively explained both the dishes and the wines. In my experience, the dinner ended relatively early. All in all, we had an amazing experience, though.

Great food, high quality. I especially love the entrees, the sardine and the vegetable dishes were amazing! The tuna main course was well flavored with interesting spices like star anise. The desert was figs with red wine sauce, classic and very good too.

The restaurant feels like a hidden gem that I’d like to keep to myself (though everyone knows). The food was fantastic, using fresh ingredients and striking the perfect balance of flavors and presentation. The service was friendly and impeccable. We’ll definitely be back for a more extended dining experience!

The food was wonderful, however the service could use some work and was not on par with a Michelin star restaurant. The space was very small not only was a pole so close I could not use my left side, my chair was constantly banged into by the door. While severing the table next to us we were often presented with the waiters bottom in our face and table area. The staff struggled with the descriptions of the menu. We also had to ask for our old dishes to be removed and for our drinks to be refilled. The restroom was appalling with water leaks and overflowing garbage. It was a shame as the food was decent and inventive however I can not recommend this restaurant based on the service and experience.

Yelp
Nice French and Japanese collaborated dishes were served in the cozy environment. The presentation/execution is well-thought and each dish is like 'art' itself. I had weekday lunch course which I believe is a good deal considering the quality. All servers are very professional and polite.

Yelp
Incredible experience in this tiny, simple but elegant spot in Paris. For €98 (there are other reduced menus but we wanted the whole thing) you have an unforgettable 5 corse meal , where the chef meticulously adapts for dietary requirements. Food is delightful.

Yelp
An amazing meal and experience. The food was thoughtful, delicious and beautifully presented. We did a seven course meal with wine pairing, and their wine selections were perfect. The service was attentive and very, very nice. The decor is very simple but the food is incredible. This was an incredible meal that we highly recommend.

Yelp
Came by for dinner the other night and it was a phenomenal experience. Made a reservation a few weeks in advance via their website and was seated upon arrival. The earliest dinner slot was 7:30 pm and the tasting menu took a full 3.5 hours. Service was thorough and attentive throughout the meal with utensils changed for each of the 7 courses. Each of the courses were carefully prepared. Flavors and textures were quite unique. Highlights from the tasting menu included the chicken breast that was super tender and tasted like a chicken leg. The fish melted in my mouth! The black truffle soup was very fragrant! Tucked away in an alley, this may be a little restaurant that is tricky to find...at least there's the Michelin guide!

Yelp
My daughter wanted to try a * Star Michelin in Paris. We wanted to go to Substance but it was fully booked so we ended up here. I will say that I enjoyed this place probably more and they were generous with their amuse Bouche. We got the degustation and each bite was awesome. Service was also top notch and the wine pairing was on point.

Yelp
I booked a seating at Automne to celebrate my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary and Mother's Day (U.S. celebrates on second Sunday in May). It was no small task to 1. find a Michelin starred restaurant open on a Sunday in Paris 2. find such a restaurant open and with availability 6 weeks in advance. When I discovered Automne had a spot open for 6 persons, I felt like it was divine intervention. We arrived a few minutes early for our 7:30pm seating to find the door locked. At 7:30pm the person that would eventually be our wait staff showed up for work. When we were finally let in, the staff still wasn't ready to take our order. We waited. Already this was a very different experience from the Michelin starred restaurants we have been to in the US and Europe. Honestly I chalked it up to everything in Paris being extremely slow and inefficient and thought nothing more of it. But if this happened in the U.S., this review would be more of a three star rating. We decided on the five course tasting menu. At most starred restaurants the 7+ course menus are way, way too much food. You end up not truly enjoying or appreciating what you are served because you are either too full of food or too drunk on wine. What we loved from the five courses: *The veal tartare was probably the best tartare I have ever had. It was served with a beautiful presentation of shared asparagus and pansies. *The seared duck was done to perfection. The skin was crispy yet meat was tender and juicy. It was served with a carrot and orange sauce. Perhaps these flavor combinations are a bit predictable, but it was executed nicely. The orange flavor was not overpowering. *The poached pear for dessert was very welcomed after over-indulging on the typical pastries of Paris that are loaded with sugar. It was served with vanilla ice cream, chocolate crisp and ginger. If you've never poached a pear at home, I will tell you that it is a slow process and can be frustrating. When dining out I really appreciate being served the things I know are difficult to prepare. Summary: It was impossible to find fault with the preparation of any of the dishes served. I find it shocking that the prices here are so reasonable. I highly recommend Automne for a satisfying meal paired with fantastic wines in an intimate setting.

Yelp
Art on the plate, created to be eaten, is the best way to describe the dining experience at Automne. Ostensibly a neighborhood restaurant on a quiet street in the 11th Arrondissement, Automne earned its first Michelin star in February of 2019, and it has captured the fancy of the tourist brigade. At least 70% of the diners were Japanese, lovers of precise French cooking. The intimate space had maybe 10 tables and evokes Gallic charm. Owned by a young couple of Japanese heritage, the husband cooks and the wife takes care of the "front of the house," aided by the engaging and delightful Joffrey. The kitchen produces works of art, with unimaginable flavor combinations which surprise and astound. We opted for the five course 55 Euro Decouvre (Discovery) menu. Our first dish, truly inexplicable, combined smoked eel, foie gras, and beets in a favor explosion. Close your eyes, imagine the taste, and travel through Alice's culinary wonderland. Yeah, you get it. Wow! The second course, a cream based chicken, mushroom and almond veloute, was amazing. I boorishly scooped up everything with Automne's wonderful and hearty bread. Fish and duck followed, delicious, but perhaps not as mind blowing as the first two creations. Automne's dessert, often maligned by well respected restaurant critics, was fabulous; a poached pear with a homemade spicy ice cream, that was an explosive ending to a culinary experience akin to an initial visit to the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. This meal had no flaws and thus I disagree with these local critics and align myself with Michelin. Our meal, with two cocktails, two glasses of wine, a truffle supplement, and a bottle of water came in at 165 Euros, a veritable steal. Automne is a culinary Parisian jewel, to be appreciated by knowledgeable lovers of the art of cooking.

Yelp
Very very nice food with nice plating. A real nice experience (we had the Evasion 7 dishes menu). Although the Chef is Asian, this is clearly modern French Cuisine. Just a slight disappointment on the dessert : very inventive and well executed but not to our taste (blanc nager à l'estragon). Finally, very limited seating and which nice and the ambiance is of an old bistro.

Yelp
Fabulous restaurant if you can get a table. We loved it and will return on our next trip to Paris. Usually this would be too much food and wine but it was all done to perfection here!

Yelp
Another five course tasting menu where, yet again, you don't choose anything beforehand. You answer the allergies/restrictions question and off you go. First course, a lightly seared bonito, which was exquisite. Served with some sliced cornichon and peeled red pepper on the plate. Next came foie gras on a butter cookie with red currant jam. Good, but less impressive than the bonito. Next, sea bass with lard and white beans - a perfect cook, but it could have used more salt. Good, slightly less impressive than the foie gras. Next, the "Beef Wellington" which, rather than a filet mignon, was stuffed with chopped duck and foie gras and came with a side of highly vinegared greens (which were absolutely necessary for the richness of the duck). This was slightly more impressive than the sea bass. For dessert, a panna cotta with a tarragon infused olive oil ice cream and citrus gelee. This was mostly a mistake; cleanly presented, it was not very good. 3.5 rounded up
