This Week’s New Hotels

"AWOL Kennebunkport is much more stylish than the setting might suggest. It’s centered around the historic Captain Walker house, right on the edge of the compact town center. And to the six-bedroom main house they’ve added a further eleven suites in a more modern style, in cabins spread across the grounds." - MICHELIN Guide

These New England Hotels Opened Just in Time for Summer

We booked a suite which was spacious and bright. Fabulous gas fire in the room - nights are sometimes cold even in the summer! Bed comfyish. |There was a big and very lovely bathtub in the room and a nice sitting room.|Not cheap and needs some upkeep, peeling paint etc in the bathroom! ||Communication ahead of arrival by email and text was great and very efficient. We arrived late so self check in, the next morning I said hi and we asked about going to the beach. Given some vague instructions and said should be able to find somewhere to sit! Later in the day I saw other guests returning beach chairs which we weren't told about - would have been helpful! ||Great location, 5 min walk into town and out enough so generally quiet. We booked room 12 which we didn't know is right next to the front door, so whilst a wonderful room be aware you will hear all the comings and goings of guests at all hours. ||A bit of improved customer service whilst staying at the property could have made all the difference. A nice stay.

Super cute lil place to stay! It really is like you’re in the wilderness…but also right in town! Easy walk to coffee, eating, and shopping. Brandi was super kind and helpful with recommendations on where to eat and what to see. We didn’t even realize a lovely breakfast is included…we enjoyed that two mornings on the porch! Would definitely come back to this place and this town again!

We stayed at AWOL in the King Suite for one night in June. Loved the sitting room! The breakfast spread was delicious and delightfully presented. We ate out on the wrap-around porch. The location of the house makes the walk through the quaint community to the downtown harbor/shopping area simple and easy. Cookies are shared in the common room with beverages. Off-street parking is included. Enjoyed very much!

Google
AWOL in Kennebunkport is absolutely adorable. The main house gives you a B&B vibe and the rooms are all unique. Ours was spacious and beautifully updated. The breakfast was advertised as a toast bar, but really included many options. A short and pretty walk to the main strip and close to other spots as well. We really enjoyed the bikes available to guests and took a ride out to the beach a couple of times. Definitely would stay again!

Google
It was right before the season, and I was not informed about the limited services—such as the lack of the full breakfast they had advertised. We were one of only two cabins in use, but the staff placed me in the one closest to the main road and sharing a wall, with one other occupant, which made it easy to hear everything through the paper-thin walls. I would not recommend staying here.

Google
So fun! We had a premium cabin which was very nice and gave us all the feels. Fire pit outside and a toast bar breakfast each morning. Staff were so accommodating and the place is well located. Loved the natural landscaping with so much greenery! Great stay. Oh yes, very very clean and comfy beds!

Everything we needed, super comfy bed, relaxing soaking tub and perfect breakfast. Waking up to fresh homemade toasted bread and delicious quiche was a great way to start the day. Easy and short walk to local activities and restaurants. Easy drive to surrounding beaches. One cool evening we enjoyed our cocktails around one of the propane fire pits, beautiful outside space.

Google
Excellent! I am an avid traveler who stays mostly at 5 star resorts I was elated with my stay . This boutique inn was a perfect location for proximity to town and wanting a private cozy Maine vibe . In my opinion it’s the best place I’ve stayed in Kennebunkport for my travel needs which are walking distance to town and a higher end feel and on the spot service . The staff couldn’t have been nicer and the room was very clean. The complementary breakfast was a bonus which included fresh fruit , in house fiestas and fresh baked goods . I highly recommend AWOL and would stay there again in a heart beat.

Yelp
Honeymooned at the Maine Stay, what an experience. Had one of their cottages which was roomy and well appointed. Greeted by the owner and staff with a cup of tea and homemade cookies. Everything about the In. Was perfect starting with the room, the location, and the breakfasts! Breakfast was a full breakfast with eggs, prepared differently each day, along with fresh fruit, muffins or pancakes, and sausages or bacon. The food was fantastic. The addition of having a refrigerator and microwave in the cottage was great. Location is a small walk from downtown so it's very convenient. This will definitely our go to place when we return to Kennebunkport.

Yelp
Your dentist probably has a larger sink next to their patient's chair than did our bathroom at AWOL Kennebunkport. That tiny sink is tucked into a tight corner of the bathroom, with 2, 12-inch mirrors - I could only extend my arm to shave or brush teeth using only one of them without being blocked by the wall. The shower was tiny as well. I happen to be on the small side for men, 5-8" 160 pounds, but if I was 6-2" 250-300, I wouldn't be able to shower without keeping one of my legs outside the stall. Even for myself, there was no way to stand in the shower stall outside the stream of water. Regarding service, although the staff was friendly when you saw them, they seemed to spend their time in an office away from the lobby so that if you wanted to speak to them, you had to ring a call button for them and wait for them to come upstairs. Positives include the property's location and the breakfast, but for the price they charge and the uncomfortable bathroom, I'd recommend finding another place. The room was uncomfortable and way over-priced for what it was.

Yelp
To begin with Judy and Walter are fabulous and keepers. Warm and conversational and very attentive. The in itself is quite charming and the room was more than satisfying. Also the location of the inn is perfect. Set an a lovely neighborhood, it is a quick walk or drive to both Kennebunkport or Kennebunk. This was our first trip to This quaint area but it will not be our last. We plan on making it an annual after Christmas tradition. Fun times.

Yelp
We were greeted by a nice gentleman and when he started showing us around the owner Judi decided to be unfriendly and condescending as if she was doing us a favor after we paid a 2 night minimum to stay in this over glorified motel with the lack of luxury it had promised. The location is very convenient to walk around and visit the shops and local restaurants. Our breakfast was delivered to our room which was really sweat. Breakfast was very unappetizing and unappealing. We were kind of thrown off actually and left it alone. We did go out and had breakfast in town. This is supposed to be a luxurious bed and breakfast and once again it was neither of the both. I received an email from the owner because I had posted a very honest review on TripAdvisor and she sounded like she wanted to speak with me and my husband about our down to earth review. Positives are as followed 1. Good location , walkable 2. Clean 3. Parking Here are some of the honest things we have experienced. 1. You hear your neighbors in the cottages that are little motels ... not relaxing and I don't want to hear people taking a weee or banging in the tub as me and my husband relax in a tub 2. Our jacuzzi was broken no bubbles .... again what did we pay for a big tub? 3. Breakfast was included and it wasn't anything special. I have stayed at many bed and breakfast places before and this was the worst experience I have ever had. Food was a real miss. Buyer beware of false adverting on don't let the 5 star reviews fool you. First impressions are very important and being rude and unwelcoming to people who paid you almost a grand for 2 nights ... you should be kissing their feet. You were the most rude bed and breakfast host we have ever met.

Yelp
My husband booked us a weekend away at the Maine Stay Inn. We stayed in cottage # 11 for 3 nights. When we arrived we were greeted by Judy and offered cookies and tea. She gave us a map and showed us some popular spots to go. She also recommended a few restaurants for dinner. One which was Nunan's Lobster hut which served the most delicious lobster we have ever eaten and reasonably priced. Our cottage was adorable and very homey. Every morning we had the option of eating breakfast on the porch or have it delivered to our cottage. What a nice treat it was waking up to a gourmet breakfast. Each breakfast was better than the next. Everything was lovely and we never wanted for anything. It was a great weekend.

Yelp
We are so glad we were sent here by another B&B who didn't have vacancy. Judy and her husband are super friendly and helpful. Our room is adorable. My husband and I are loving it.

Yelp
Our stay at Maine Stay Inn was great. I was in cottage 3. The room was small but nicely decorated with an awesome touch button fireplace (really warms the place quickly!). The bed was very plush and comfortable. The bathroom was large with a 2 person whirlpool tub but the fixtures could use an update. There were 2 large soft robes to lounge around in. They had nice toiletries with their name on it which was a nice touch. There was a small kitchenette with a 2 person table, a microwave, a coffee machine, mini fridge, and a sink. I honestly could have done without a separate kitchen area since it was really outdated cabinets and counter, but we did find use of the table for breakfast. A sitting area with a desk/table for the kitchen items would have been more visually appealing. Perks: You have your own parking space You have the option of having breakfast delivered to your room (with 2 options for time). Breakfast was disappointing, they clearly tried very hard and I appreciated the effort but it wasn't very good. Pumpkin pancakes with bacon and shirred eggs. Served with a fruit cup and small carafe of orange juice. The bacon was clearly precooked, the eggs, although presented nicely (baked in a souffle dish), they were also microwaved, causing hard, overcooked yolks and runny whites. I threw mine back in the microwave a bit longer, but there was no saving these eggs. The taste of hard boiled eggs with an awful wet mushy texture. The dollar pancakes weren't bad. A little too wet in the center in my opinion, but the pumpkin was a nice touch. Little bottles of pure maple syrup was also greatly appreciated. There was ZERO hot water the morning we were trying to get ready and catch a flight which was very frustrating. When we checked out we mentioned it - they said there must be a problem and they would address it right away, but we couldn't wait around so we had cold showers. On my rush out, I forgot to mention the lack of curtains in our cottage. The bed is next to the window and you can clearly see right in the cottage. There was a sheer curtain but thats it. They definetly need to do something about that. The facilities are nice and clean, but its not your typical bed and breakfast. Most rooms aren't in the main house and there is no restaurant on site, which I'm sure contributed to the microwaved breakfast. The Inn Keepers were nice and they clearly try hard. It is expensive but you get allot. I would stay here again.

Yelp
Main Stay Inn is a lovely b&b in Kennebunkport. Judi and Walter are nice and funny people who do a good job! I hadn't experience having to pick a time for a breakfast seating and eating at a communal table in the morning since my previous experiences have been buffet style breakfast during a time range. We could pick 8:30 or 9:30 or have it delivered to the room at 9 if we didn't want to socialize. I didn't love the idea of setting an alarm to get up on vacation, but I have to say everything we ate was delicious. The first morning we had surprisingly creamy scrambled eggs with chive, a flavorful zucchini bread, sausages or black bean patty for my vegetarian option, and an apple cranberry crisp! There was also an option of homemade granola, good coffee / tea options and a juice selection. The second morning we had fresh fruit and poached eggs over Parmesan toasts. It was a ton of food! Our cottage (#5) was clean and quaint, set off the main house just down the driveway. It had an easy on/off remote for the fireplace and jacuzzi (I've had trouble figuring these things out at other places), and I appreciated how quiet it was even with guests next door. The heated floors in the bathroom were a nice touch too. Main Stay Inn is a very short walk to town and their friendly staff is eager to help. In the afternoon between 3-5:00, head to the main house for almond sugar cookies or fresh chocolate chip cookies to enjoy with tea or coffee.

Yelp
I purchased a weekend trip at the Maine Stay Inn for my boyfriend's Christmas present. Having only seen pictures online, you never quite know what to expect, but the Maine Stay was beautiful and our time there was perfect. The Inn itself is located with walking distance to town, which is a huge perk (especially if you visit Old Vines Wine Bar and want to really enjoy yourself without driving). Everyone we encountered from the staff was fantastic - welcoming, sweet, and quick to offer advice or recommendations on things to do in the area, which was much appreciated. Warm really is the best adjective to describe the vibe at the Maine Stay, since everyone really takes pride in the Inn. We stayed in Room 12, which is in the main house on the first floor. I won't lie - at first, seeing that the room was on the ground floor across from the lounge area made me nervous about privacy as well as noise, but my worries were unfounded. The room was private and we didn't hear ANYTHING from the other common areas. Room 12 had a private living room area, with fireplace, then French doors that led to a huge bedroom - those doors really soundproofed the room, as we heard NOTHING from the busy common space (both of us were really impressed by this). The bathroom was well-appointed with a rainfall showerhead (we both now want one for home, it was PERFECT) and was clean, which is the biggest thing. The bed was extremely comfortable too, with high thread-count sheets, so my diva self was happy to be so cozy and comfortable. The room also had everything you need - a Keurig with half and half/sugars, wine glasses, an ice bucket, and bottle opener, a table and chairs for actually sitting to eat, a comfortable couch - it really was perfect. We chose to have breakfast delivered to our room each morning, though we could have gone to the dining room to eat with the other guests. Our dietary restrictions (nut free/vegetarian) were more than accommodated, even my pickiness with the fact that I don't like eggs. The food was fresh, with different items served each morning, and I had the BEST homemade granola and delicious yogurt. It was a huge perk to be able to eat in the room too. We will absolutely be back to stay at the Maine Stay - the location, warmth of the innkeepers and staff, beautiful rooms, and breakfast will keep us coming back and visiting.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed here for the second time for a reason.. The rooms are beautiful, comfortable, clean Cozy and well maintained. The staff ,the best, Judi and Walter are always there to help you and guide you with anything you need , from good restaurants , hair salons, activities etc Duke was very nice giving us a whole information that you need to know about the place . We are in love with the place and town hoping one day we can move close to this place were people are nicer and life seems less stressful then New York . To Walter , Judi and staff thank you for making our stay always wonderful. Oh the breakfast is delicious always ! Is home style cooking not your typical B&B breakfast cooking so if you like eggs and bacon every morning go to the supermarket and make it yourself ;)

Yelp
My wife and I stayed here on April 6, 2017. We had a great experience and would recommend this place. It is very charming an beautiful. The rooms are fine, the dining area is great and the food even better! We met some really nice people here during our breakfast. The hosts were wonderful...Judi and Walter Hauer, Duke, the kitchen staff. all made us feel very welcome!

Yelp
Set on a beautiful tree-lined street behind the main strip, this B&B is the perfect cozy escape from New York City. We stayed in Romantic Cottage #7 which furnishes a gas fireplace, flat screen TV, a Jacuzzi for 2 and a small kitchenette. With its close proximity to town, it was easy to walk to the main street for shopping and dinners. We especially appreciated the attention that was given to us from the Inn Keepers. Judi and Brian were especially hospitable in their gentle encouragement to enjoy their homemade breakfast when we almost passed on the offer; this was delivered in a wicker basket and served piping hot each morning...what an unexpected treat! Any couple who is looking for a relaxing weekend outside of a busy city will find the Inn exceeds all expectations. We definitely look forward to returning again soon!

Yelp
Having worked and vacationed in Maine for over 40 years from Kittery to Bar Harbor and from Moosehead Lake to the Atlantic coast line we finally realized Kennebunkport epitomizes everything that Maine has to offer. Our home away from home has become the Maine Stay Inn, comprised of rooms in the main house and approximately 11 cottages scattered throughout the lovely grounds. Judi and Walter with assistance from Anna run Main Stay with immaculate precision have become like family. Room rates include a lovely breakfast each morning offering various fruit cobblers & egg preparations. I prefer the omelet or quiche offerings, but there is much more. Aside from the Maine Stay you have a 10 min walk into town center or a 5min drive to Gooch Beach or Kennebunk Beach. The cottage rooms include a functional kitchen which is superflous to us, since there too many great restaurants in town. Our favorite is the Hurricane.... You can spend a full week or more walking to at least 10 or more outstanding restaurants from the Maine Stay without getting into your car....a benefit in season when parking can be a challenge in town...There is proviso, however.....When walking after sunset down Main Street bring a flashlight since the streets are poorly lit. We cannot wait to return next season.

Yelp
Had a great experience at the Inn! Our family stayed in 4 rooms in the main house. The Inn is within walking distance to shopping and restaurants. The staff was super helpful and friendly. We looked forward to the delicious breakfast each day. Would definitely recommend this Inn.

Yelp
We stayed for four wonderful nights at the Maine Stay Inn in cottage #2. I am a gluten-free vegan and inquired in advance of my stay if they could accommodate me and boy did they! Each breakfast was just great and I really appreciate how Judy took care of me! Our room was beautiful, very clean, and I don't think I have ever slept in a more comfortable bed. We had a light that was out, mentioned it to Judy and it was fixed immediately. The Inn is very close to Dock Square and we waalked down there often and enjoyed a couple of great meals. We will absolutely be back! October 2014

Yelp
There are many options in town, and though I have not experienced any another B&B in Kennebunkport, I am quite certain that we would love to book another stay here at the Maine Stay Inn - it was a delight! We stayed in one of the cottages and it was clean, renovated and quaint. Ours was closer to the main house and there were no noise issues. It was generally a chill crowd. The staff was friendly, cheerful and very accommodating, especially when it came to delivering our breakfast in the morning and preparing the following morning's breakfast the night before. The walk to town was a perfect distance and gives you a view of the beautiful, historic homes and offers a quintessential New England experience.
google avatar

Ray J.

Yelp
First time at a B&B. Lovely accommodations, close enough to walk to Dock Square. The entire staff treats you right and are genuinely at your service when necessary. We will definitely return to The Maine Stay Inn! Breakfast is served in the main house, or by request, will deliver your breakfast to your cottage. Breakfast was great every day. Kennebunkport is a great place to visit, including surrounding areas.
google avatar

Napua K.

Yelp
Although our stay was short, we full in love with this property. The grounds are so well kept, and the cottage was perfect for a romantic getaway. From the heated bathroom floors to the fireplace- each detail only heightened the ambiance, and was exactly what my husband and I had been looking for. Having the option to enjoy breakfast in bed (I think Walter was the one who brought us our breakfast) was the perfect start to a day we had planned to fill with adventure. Judi and Walter (as stated in other reviews) were so warm and welcoming. I was sad to say goodbye after breakfast. We will definitely be back to celebrate another birthday or anniversary! Thank you so much for allowing us to enjoy the charm and beauty of your inn.

Yelp
The Maine Stay Inn is a nice place to stay for a weekend trip to Kennebunkport. The location is great, just a short walk to downtown where you can shop and eat the day away. Check-in was friendly. I was given suggestions for dinner for the two nights I was in town, and both were excellent - see review for Pier 77 and Bandaloop. *The Bed* I stayed in Cottage #1. Cottages #1 and #2 are attached, but I couldn't hear the neighbors. The room was nice - whirlpool tub, keriug coffee maker, and a gas fireplace. The room was clean and the housekeeping was friendly. I loved having the Keriug in the room, it was great being able to make a cup of coffee and just hang out. *The Breakfast* The breakfast beverages consisted of coffee, tea, orange and cranberry juice. First course was a fruit cup, followed by a nice plate of daily offerings. Day one we had huevos rancheros, bread, and kielbasa. After that, there was homemade granola. I couldn't possibly eat anything else (and I can eat) so I asked for the granola to go and they gave me a baggie full. Day two we had another great breakfast, the one standout from this one was the berry crisp, yummy! Overall a nice place, I'd stay again.

Yelp
I am sad to say that my wife and I are leaving Maine Stay tomorrow morning. We reserved a cottage for 2 nights including 1 free night (all weeknights). I have no complaints whatsoever. Our cottage was perfect. Queen bed, fireplace, flat-screen TV, and two-person jacuzzi tub. We also had a very small kitchen which included a small fridge, microwave, and sink. We thought our pillows were too firm the first night, so we asked the Innkeepers for feather pillows. They immediately catered to our request and there we were, sleeping with feather pillows for the remainder of our stay! The Inn is located about 1/4 mile from Dock Square in Kennebunkport, where there are many very cool small shops and restaurants. Federal Jack's is not very far, Alisson's is nearby, and Grissini's is just a short, 3-minute drive away. I highly recommend all three, especially Grissini's for dinner. The beaches are also just a short drive away (roughly 3-5 minutes). Breakfast at Maine Stay was awesome every morning, especially the apple-walnut crepes! If you plan to stay in a cottage, I highly recommend having breakfast inside of the main house instead of having it delivered to you. Stop in, enjoy some coffee, and have a chat with the other guests as well as the Innkeepers. It makes the experience that much better. Besides, you will get some recommendations regarding places to visit, which is always good. Besides, having dinner inside of the main house is a great experience, with the great design of the home and detail of its furnishings. Innkeepers Walt, Judi, and daughter Johanna are awesome. They really made our stay a very pleasant one. We will not hesitate to recommend this place! We'll definitely be returning to Maine Stay!

Yelp
I actually wasn't the person that stayed here it was my parents but there reviews were so glowing and I wanted to share. I actually booked this place as a surprise for my moms birthday. My mom has celiacs disease and The Maine Stay was having there 2nd Annual Gluten Free weekend. I was so happy to find a bed and breakfast I could send my mom to without here having the fear of not being able to eat anything. When I booked the reservation the Innkeepers could not have been nicer on the phone. My parents have had nothing but wonderful things to say about there stay. The room was very comfortable and my mom who is a tad OCD said the place was so clean she couldn't believe it. The Gluten free food was great as well! Thanks so much Maine Stay for making my mom feel so comfortable!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I just came back from a two-night stay at the Maine Stay Inn...what a wonderful experience! We had never stayed at a bed and breakfast before, and now we think that this is what we will choose to do every time we travel. Walter, Judi and staff are all amazing people who will ensure the best stay possible for their guests. We truly felt that the Maine Stay Inn was a home away from home. The fact that the house is so historic really drew us in, and our room was beautiful and classic, but with all the modern conveniences. The fireplace in our room and attached deck were my favorite parts. There are also cottages surrounding the main house, but we had wanted to stay in the house itself, as it intrigued us much more! Each morning we were served a home-cooked breakfast with the other guests which was delightful, and allowed us to meet and mingle with others visiting the area. There were always from-scratch cookies awaiting guests in the main room, and they were delicious. I would look forward to coming back to the house at night just to take a cookie to my room with me! The Maine Stay Inn is within perfect walking distance to the Kennebunkport shops, restaurants and oceanside views. But we honestly enjoyed being at the inn more than walking around town! While still the off-season, we had a great time and will definitely be back in the summer.

Yelp
My three friends and I just spent the weekend (April 2013) at the Maine Stay Inn in Cottage 6. It was a two bedroom cottage that was absolutely spotless. I don't really know how they keep it that clean! Much cleaner than your average hotel. The bedrooms were small, but all the common space was in the living room and kitchen. The place easily accommodated the 4 adults we had. One bedroom has a double (queen?) bed and the other has 2 twin beds. It is an adorable apartment, we loved it. The bathroom was full of soaps and other extras, plus a cute little rubber ducky. The kitchen had all the basics to cook, although we didn't. There was a stove, fridge, microwave and a Keurig machine. There was even a note that they would do the dishes for you. I've never seen that before in any self catering place. If there were just two of us, we probably would have eaten breakfast in the main dining area with other guests, but we got our breakfast delivered. Not the best food ever, but good. The fact is - they cooked it, delivered it and then washed the dishes. What more could ask for? Johanna, the daughter of the owners, checked us in. She was so nice and helped us figure out where we should go for lunch and dinner.... then she made the reservations as well. Most B&Bs tell you they will help, but you have to ask, and well, I usually don't. Johanna just whipped out a map and asked what we wanted to know about. The location is perfect. Just outside the town center and close enough to walk to. It was one of the quietest nights sleep I've had in awhile. Good beds, and good pillows. My friends and I all agreed that we enjoyed our stay in Kennebunkport more because of this Inn. We like to go away together one weekend every Spring and usually try new local destinations every year.... but we have already decided to come back to Kennebunk and stay here again.

Yelp
Cannot recommend Maine Stay strongly enough. - We stayed in cottage 7 - had a jetted tub, fireplace, and was exactly what the doctor ordered for a quick getaway - was pretty much the only B&B in the area that did not enforce a 2 night minimum (in the off season) - Breakfast was fantastic - fruit cup, a bit of sausage, some greens, and this potato/egg bake that i've never really seen before, but am going to try to replicate - Location is ideal - close to the 'downtown' area as well as the coast

Yelp
In all honesty, I am not a big fan of bed and breakfasts, people think quaint, I think "small and cramp", people think "warm company for breakfast", I think "eating with strangers who are prolly wondering what I was up to last night" but this place is slowly turning me, the owners while not effusive are friendly, and very helpful, eager to help us out with activities and restaurant recommendations. We had a room int the main house, the four poster bed was lovely, but the bathroom was a bit small (shower only and no bath), which is a big problem for me, hard to have a romantic getaway without a bath tub I think. But breakfast in the morning was delicious, and the selection of readily available hot teas, coffee, board games and the afternoon cookie convinced me that maybe bed and breakfasts aren't so bad after all...

Yelp
I stayed at the Inn during late June. It was a very clean and accomodating space. The staff were helpful, answering any questions about the area and even leaving cookies and iced tea out for the afternoon. The prices are also very reasonable. My only issue was the breakfast part of B&B. The first morning we were served eggs hong kong which was essentially dry eggs and mushrooms in an overcooked wonton cup topped with a teriyaka sauce. I'm an adventurous eater but this dish was essentially tastless. The next day was a mixed berry cobbler. That would have been great as a dessert. For breakfast, it was hardly filling and overly sweet. I would stay there again because as I said the prices are reasonable and the staff and rooms are great. But we would definitely skip the breakfast.

Yelp
Even though this is a lovely inn... I must say that the innkeeper made us feel unwelcomed ... We seemed to have gotten the time for breakfast wrong and were scolded and shamed (in front of others) for not showing up on time. Along with that, I had asked her if I could keep my milk in the refrigerator- she gave me a long explanation about why I could not including showing me the inside of the refrigerator and how there was no room... but neglected to let me know there was a small refrigerator for guests upstairs. Also, our room was about 8' x 10'. It looks so much larger in the photos. If you are too tall or a bit overweight - you should not take Room 14

Yelp
I cannot say enough positive things about the Maine Stay Inn. We stayed in cottage 9 for a brief trip through Kennebunkport. When we arrived- we relaxed in the main house with refreshing tea and some delicious cookies! Our cottage was an unexpected gem- very modern, clean, and tastefully furnished. The inn keepers were welcoming and provided us with info of the village, beach access, and booked our reservation at a local restaurant. I like the idea of staying in the cottages- and if we had neighbors- we wouldn't have known because it was very quiet. We had chilled wine and a cheese plate waiting for us upon arrival (you can have them pick up a bottle and they will just add it to your room charge). The breakfast is offered at 2 different times- or you can have it delivered to your room/cottage. You can also choose to sit out on the huge wrap around porch or inside. So food wise- the breakfast wasn't anything to write home about- basic huevos rancheros baked into a cup, fruit, and they offer some granola to go if you'd like. The coffee was outstanding! Bright and kicking! Maine Stay could win me over with a perfectly poached egg over field greens and toasted ciabatta! Kennebunkport is a wonderful village with old cemeteries, quaint shops, great food- and the Maine Stay Inn and Cottages made it the most enjoyable visit for me. I would definitely be coming back!

Yelp
My wife and I stayed here during the town's Christmas Prelude event. We loved everything about our stay. The breakfast was as good as anything I've had and each day it was different from French toast to herbed eggs to poached eggs with corned beef hash. The quality was as good as the finest restaurants. They had wonderful cookies and tea in the afternoons. The room was well kept with a nice fireplace and a small sitting room. There was a small gift waiting for us the first night which is always a nice touch. The innkeepers and staff were very friendly and happy to help us navigate the area. The house is not on the main road but it's only a 5 minute walk to the main road so you got the advantage of great access with a little privacy. I really can't say enough good things about this place. It was recommended to us and it did not disappoint.

Yelp
Booked this B&B for one night in June through a bed and breakfast website for my wife and two young daughters. $300 for one night so we were looking forward to a night of luxury. When we arrived they said my two young kids were not included and it would cost me close to $200 more for a 4 & 6 year old?? Owners were involved and very confrontational and would not let my children in until I paid the ridiculous amount. My wife and kids were very upset by the incident and she was too uncomfortable staying at the home of someone so unwelcoming and nasty to us. Our miserable night ended sleeping in our Ford focus, and worst of all they kept all our money. I'll be filing a BBB claim next week at minimum. After touring the town we found that there were many locations that were better and cheaper in this beautiful town. Don't fall into the same trap we did.

Yelp
Stayed for 4 days, and loved every day. Judy and Walter are fabulous hosts, and breakfast was fantastic.

Yelp
We are extremely impressed with our cottage room. The personnel were very helpful and personable. The breakfast was extremely delightful and plentiful and you have the option of room delivery which was really special. We will definitely come back.

Yelp
Absolutely love this inn! Clean, comfortable, attractive rooms that offer oversized soaking tubs and a gas fireplace. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Location is fantastic; just a very short walk into the center of town. Breakfast is delivered to your door every morning and is homemade delicious food that can be made gluten free. Better gluten free waffles than we make in our own kitchen. This is our forth stay and we will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
We stayed in Cottage 5 for three nights as part of out honeymoon and could not have been happier! Th accommodations were impeccably clean and comfortable. The inn keepers (and all staff) were wonderful and they truly made us feel at home. We will make the Maine Stay Inn a regular B and B!

Yelp
This Inn is a slice of heaven. Very sweet owners, incredible food, lovely cottages and delightful attention to detail. Don't wait another second to book your room here. We'll be back again and again.

Yelp
My favorite bed and BREAKFAST? Maine Stay Inn. Besides the fact that the rooms in the inn are so beautiful and the innkeepers and their daughter are so friendly, and the location is so close to downtown Kennebunkport, we love their breakfasts! Gourmet and different every day. That is the first best thing. The second best thing is that they offer incredible gluten free options, and we understand that they cater very well to any food restrictions. Their daughter has celiac disease so they have really figured out gluten free cooking for their guests. Even afternoon cookies included fabulous homemade gluten free items! We have gone two years in a row and are trying to fit in another trip this year! Seriously, treat yourself now and book a night or two at this inn. We can't speak highly enough of this place.

Yelp
In short, our stay was amazing! You and the staff truly have the customer in mind in every way. The Room was very comfortable and the breakfast was Yummy. It's all about location and you certainly have it. Thank you for a wonderful 4 days

Yelp
I love this place. Where else can you have your own "hotel room" and a full breakfast delivered PIPING HOT included in the cost? We stayed in Cottage Two and loved it for it's modern feel and impeccable cleanliness. Breakfast was great for me as I like more inventive stuff. Quantity was good and quality was excellent. (Hubs would have liked a little check off list to choose more standard fare.) The fireplace was super and the bed and linens could not have been more comfy. The entire staff was delightful and we can't wait to go back. Thanks Judi and Joanna!

Yelp
A little expensive considering we went during their off season. We stayed two nights, loved the room we stayed! The breakfast was kind of hit or miss, as one morning was kind of bad, and the next day was pretty good. I think they are trying to hard to be different, options would be nice. The area is lovely though, I would return, but I'd most likely stay somewhere else.

Yelp
The mintute my husband and I arrived, we knew that we were in for a special treat. Our room, Room 12, is a beautiful suite, complete with a sitting room with a fireplace, a bedroom with another sitting area perfect for reading and dining, and a spectaculr bathroom with multiple showerheads. Our room is simply spectacular. What is even better, the B&B is walking distance into town! The owners are a delightful couple who immediately welomed us and provided numerous recommendations for us for dinner. We have only just arrived, and I was moved to make a review. That is how special this place is!

Yelp
We recently had a wonderful stay at the Maine Stay. Our family booked 4 rooms at the Inn and they were all very happy with their clean and comfortable rooms. We loved the inn keepers - they really made our stay special. We would not hesitate to recommend the Maine Stay if you are traveling to the Kennebunkport area and we hope to return again in the future.

Yelp
We stayed here for 4 nights in Cottage #3 in the off season, and LOVED IT! The owners and staff were all very nice and helpful. The cottage was very clean and well kept. The bed was very comfortable and had tons of pillows. The remote controlled gas fire place was awesome and kept the room very warm all night! We occasionally heard the neighbor once or twice but otherwise it was nice and quiet. The morning breakfasts were well made and presented, bonus on being delivered every morning! Though I think they were trying to be a bit too fancy and inventive for 1 or 2 of them. I'm not sure if they offered it, but an option of just a standard egg and bacon breakfast would be a good idea. Some people's stomachs don't do well with certain foods in the morning. We will be staying here the next time we travel back to Maine! Cottage #3 is the way to go!!!

Yelp
My family of 4 stayed two nights in cabin #9. Lovely old home and grounds. Awesome location within a short walk to town. The staff was very attentive. Our room was adequate in size --except the bathroom was very small and the shower leaked all over the floor every time we used it. Also the tv was super small and looked ridiculous mounted on the wall. My husband couldn't see the NBA Finals game from across the room in bed and that was irritating. They did have a nice kitchenette with a sink, coffee maker, fridge and micro. They kindly put waters in the fridge for us each day! Much appreciated. Plus they put coffee creamer in the fridge daily too. A nice touch. The breakfast was outstanding the first morning -gf French toast, fruit, bacon and poached egg for our gluten free family. The second morning it was very similar except just plain toast with poached eggs over lettuce, sweet potatoes and fruit. My youngest daughter didn't touch her food the second day and we had to stop to get her something after. Overall, I loved the location of this b&b but thought there should be more upscale bathroom, larger tv, and maybe choices for kids on the menu. But we would stay again!

Yelp
Our stay was one filled with unexpected surprise. What a diamond in the rough... Excellent people ... Great hospitality... And unbelievable service. We stayed in room 17. Chocolates, cheese plate and a super clean room was just the start. Great location so it seemed secluded yet was a very short walk to down town. The inn keepers were always helpful and pleasant... Took their time to point out hidden secrets and spots worth a look. The breakfast was fabulous, the other guests we met also agreed this truly was a one of a kind place ... Worth coming back to again and again. We felt like this was home after a few minutes of walking thru the door. It has been such a great experience for us and made our whole weekend. We highly recommend this inn ... Great memorable place... Loved the inn and the keepers

Yelp
We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was fantastic. We couldn't have asked for a better spot. We stayed in one of the "cottages" and it was the perfect amount of privacy. We were served a hot, gourmet breakfast every morning that was absolutely outstanding. The owners are especially friendly and are very willing to help you with your stay and give you any recommendations for sites and restaurants. The Inn is right in town and within walking distance to everything. I cannot say enough good things about this place.

Yelp
Loved the Maine Stay Inn. We stayed in the cottages and they were adorable and beautiful inside. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The grounds were also lovely. While there are many Inns in Kennebunkport, this is the only one I would choose for when I return.
