South Florida’s 9 Best Indian Restaurants | Eater Miami

"At this Indian standout — with three locations throughout Miami — offers chef specials like fish in a ginger-coconut curry sauce, chole bhature (spicy chickpea curry with leavened fried bread), and Nilgiri lamb korma (green curry lamb stew). Vegetarians have plenty to choose from too, including idli—steamed rice and lentil cakes served with an array of chutneys and sambar, a lentil-based vegetable stew." - Eater Staff

The Best Midtown and Edgewater Restaurants in Miami, Florida | Eater Miami

"Florida flavors receive an Indian twist at Mike Hussain’s restaurant in Midtown. Small plates offer an excellent beginning, featuring options such as samosas (crispy patties) filled with lamb, vegetables, or chicken alongside various versions of dosas (thin South Indian crepes). The restaurant excels in mango curry entrees and goat-based dishes, with the tandoori chicken as a stand-out prepared in a clay oven. Vegetable highlights include eggplant bharta, baked on an open flame, mashed, seasoned with herbs, and sautéed with onions. The must-try dessert is rasmalai, consisting of cheese in sweetened milk, with cashews, almonds, pistachios, and nuts." - Juliana Accioly

We recently visited the restaurant and had a mixed experience. The food was quite flavorful and the ambiance was pleasant, which we appreciated. However, we felt that the portion sizes did not quite justify the pricing, as the quantities were relatively limited for the cost. Additionally, it was a bit disappointing to see that basic accompaniments like onions and lemon were not included with all dishes and required an extra charge. Including such essentials would enhance the overall dining experience.

My favorite Indian in town ⭐️ The flavors are delicious, the portions are a good size and the selection has something for everyone. The setting is casual and the service is excellent

I'm from Hyderabad, Mark my words, the best Indian restaurant in US, Hyderabadi bol ra bole to samajh Jana XD, must try lamb chops 🤤🤌🫡. HOOKA is also available.

I am very finicky about my food and I have to say that the fare here was delicious. The service was pretty good too and the only minus was that the food was a little pricey and I wouldn't have minded a slightly bigger portion than what was given and that is why I have taken off one star. However, definitely worth a try. The restrooms at a lot of Indian places are less than ideal but I was very pleasantly surprised to see that the facilities here were spacious and spotlessly clean!

Google
The place is a bit rough around the edges, especially in such a trendy area - but the food has been great every time we’ve visited. Our server (gentleman with the glasses and mustache) was very friendly and very helpful. We were overwhelmed by the long menu and he helped us find the couple things we wanted to have based on our descriptions since we couldn’t remember the name. Also, my wife has very low tolerance to spicy food, and this place is really good at making mild versions of the classic Indian dishes - as well as spicy ones for those who prefer it. No need to make a reservation for lunch during the weekend or week dinners, in our experience.

Google
Who packs a dal this way! My entire order that had different 3 different curries in it was packed this way and had leaked, was soggy. The food was not edible because everything had leaked out of the containers. Worst experience On top of that… gobi Manchurian and paneer chilly were loaded with red color. It had more color than the actual gobi and paneer in itself. Horrible horrible food

Google
One of the very few restaurants that offer North Indian delicacies and a full range of South Indian dishes as well. All the dishes are super delicious and served with a lot of love and care. Highly recommended!!!!

Sanat Patel

Google
I was craving South Indian food and this restaurant does not disappoint. I ate their idli vada combo, butter masala dosa and gulab jamun for dessert. All were served fresh and piping hot. I don’t know why this place has a 3.9 Google rating and it definitely deserves much higher! Calvin the manager was fantastic. Kudos

Yelp
Wonderful Little Gem Tucked Away in the Hustle and Bustle of Midtown Ayesha is a standout Indian restaurant offering a delightful fusion of South Indian and vegetarian options alongside beloved traditional dishes. Our recent visit left us thoroughly impressed, with each dish providing a unique and memorable experience. We started our meal with the garlic shrimp. Wow! It is a dish that delivered some amazing flavors with its generous garlic infusion and rich, tomatoey goodness. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, succulent, and paired wonderfully with the fluffy garlic naan, which was a hit at our table. The naan was soft, aromatic, and light. It definitely did not take a back seat on our table. One of the highlights of our meal was the goat mango curry. This dish was nothing short of extraordinary, with tender pieces of goat immersed in a creamy, flavorful mango curry sauce. The balance of spices and the sweetness of the mango tantalized our taste buds. The true starwas the Uthappam. A South Indian dish unique to the Midtown location. It consisted of a pancake made of rice and lentils mixed with vegetables, tomatoes, and onions. It was an absolute triumph. It was served with a trio of accompaniments: a hearty veggie soup, an amazing mango chutney, and a spicy chili sauce. So much yummy goodness. Ayesha's ambiance was nice and quiet. A welcome change from the usual bustle and night club feel of a many a typical restaurant in Miami. The staff was very nice and made some very good recommendations. The restaurant's offerings of unique and authentic South Indian and vegetarian options sets it apart in the vibrant Miami food scene.

Yelp
Everything we had here was amazing. Flavor, portions, presentation, all of it. Try the Uthappam which is a type of pancake from South India with different savory ingredients added. YUM! We also had the mango curry lamb which was delicious as well, a hit with us both. And I'm not a big fan of lamb but damn this was good. Naan was light ans toasty and the one we got was garlicky to perfection. We will come back to try some of the other South Indian specialties! Also, service was on point. Nice guys, knowledgeable (because we ask questions about the food), and quick. Will be back for sure!

Yelp
Ordered lunch here it was very convenient ordering online and then picking it up when it was ready. Picking it up was super quick. The restaurant was dark and not many were in there for lunch. I got the aloo goobi and the butter chicken, medium spicy. The flavor was good and spice was perfect. However there wasn't much cauliflower in the aloo. It was more potatoes and onions. The butter chicken I felt was soupy. There was so much sauce and not enough chicken ratio. The best thing that I got was the garlic naan. The naan was a nice big portion. It was soft and delicious.

Yelp
Can't speak for the dining experience as I've only ordered on Uber Eats, but the food is a hit or miss. Not to mention, it's very overpriced. The papdi chaat and tandoori chicken were good, however not the best I've ever had. I also had the lamb makhani curry which was drenched in oil. The entire top layer was oil. I've never seen any curry like this! I couldn't eat it. Wouldn't recommend.

Yelp
Why would I drive all the way to Midtown for Ayesha when there is actually one closer to me? One word: Dosa. Dosa is a gigantic, thin and crispy crepe from South India. Most of the Indian restaurants here don't offer it, and a few times I found it on the menu only to get something disappointingly soggy, thick or bland... The Midtown location offers some South Indian specialties, and their dosa does not disappoint. I love every bite of it. And their garlic naan - it is the most garlicky naan I've ever tried, or, any garlic bread included. The naan is pillowy soft, and loaded with fresh minced garlic. If you love the stinky rose this one is for you. I am a bit disappointed that their menu takes the format of choice of sauce + choice of protein. As Cake Thai's mom once told me, the sauce is developed to accompany the type of meat and shouldn't be interchangeable. Imagine an Italian place offering alfredo chicken/beef/pork/salmon or a French place with beef/pork/chicken/fish/tofu bourguignon. You won't take it for an authentic place would you? That said, we did enjoy all the dishes we ordered, the service is very nice, and we had a lovely evening.

Yelp
Interesting things happen when traditions dialogue---Richard Freeman aka my yoga teacher Be Healthy...Dead Prez harmony in my head So it is Christmas day in Miami. Everything is closed. Trader Joe's closed. Whole Foods closed.. Many restaurants closed. What to do? After several phone calls, calling around to some veg-friendly spots discovered that Ayesha Fine Dining Indian was open. In a word...yes! I had a very turbulent upbringing. You can read about it in book one of my Away in India memoir. I was a martial artist, surfer, and one of the few hip white kids on a mostly black basketball team in high school. Our high school was state champions in football and highschool basketball was intense. I was raised on hip hop, alternative music being a product of the 90s, and music helped me through. As Nietzsche said without music life would be a mistake. In 1998 at age 19 I was living in NYC on my own working construction, working security, teaching karate in Manhattan, and playing basketball in Harlem. I read an article on Kareem Abdul-Jabbar saying that he had a 20 year pro basketball career becoming the all time leading scorer in the NBA at the time thanks to martial arts and yoga. I already was a martial artist yet got into yoga. Stayed into yoga over the years yet wasn't until I was living in Los Angeles circa 2003 working a high paying, high stress security job where I was suicidally depressed yet was a straight edge aka sober living lifestyle so couldn't drink or drug away the pain so got into yoga every day aka daily practice and this saved my life. I met my teacher Richard Freeman at a workshop in Venice at Yoga Works run by Chuck and Maty. I eventually moved to Boulder to study with Richard and Mary and the Sangha there for over a decade and he suggested I go to India which changed my life. Interesting things do happen when traditions dialogue. Tibetan Buddhism was the result of the indigenous Bon tradition in Tibet and Indian yoga brought by Guru Rinpoche from India to Tibet. From my own experience of growing up with hip hop and getting into yoga at age 19 in Money Makin' Manhattan. I lived over three years in India over many Winters so Indian is like my second home so delighted to find an Indian restaurant open on Christmas day with vegan options to boot. Many clearly marked vegan options on the menu. Indian cuisine with South Indian to boot. I went with the masala dosa. It was huge. I loved the chutneys. A bit costly yet recommended. Friendly and attentive staff. I loved the ambiance with traditional Indian culture all over the walls and Bollywood videos on the television. One room for improvement would be to give the proper option of an actual hand held menu. I am analog in the digital world like Erykah Badhu and taking a photo of the QR code didn't work on my phone. Luckily the waiter gave a proper take out menu with old prices. Recommended for veg-friendly options albeit a bit costly which is the Miami norm it seems especially with inflation in these Modern Times like Bob Dylan. All in all recommended!

Yelp
This is an incredibly delicious Indian restaurant! Another plus is that it is considered a fine dining restaurant, which means nice ambiance and great service. I came here with my friends because we really wanted to try their dosas. Not only were we blown away by the dosa, but everything on the menu was absolute perfection. One of the greatest gems of Miami for sure. You cannot go wrong with any of the dishes here. I also love how they have pani puri, which I always search so far and wide for, and did not expect this restaurant to have. The garlic naan was heavy on the garlic, just the way I like it.

Yelp
Excellent, reliable, traditional, Indian food. Quiet ambiance, never too full or loud. Always a pleasure.

Yelp
This is the best Indian food I've found in Miami. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was outstanding. Definitely recommend everyone to come try and I will be back!

Yelp
I came to Ayesha for lunch during the week and was pleasantly surprised! They have a great selection of generous lunch specials for $15-25. I wasn't extremely hungry so I ordered the Tandoori Chicken Salad. I love Indian cuisine, but rice dishes are my go-to dishes, so I wasn't sure what to expect with this. The presentation was beautiful. I wouldn't have thought to have tandoori chicken cold, but this was really good! LOTS of flavors which were all perfectly balanced into the salad. I cleaned the plate! Overall, the restaurant is very clean and very peaceful. The waitstaff is attentive and accommodating. Next time I'll be back to try one of the lunch combos.

Yelp
Such a great restaurant. The dosas are so good! One of the few places in Miami that has them. The staff are so kind as well
google avatar

Cindy F.

Yelp
I had the chicken lunch platter. Very delicious! The portions were just right. The salad was light and fresh. Naan hot crispy and chewy and delicious. The rice pudding perfect ending. The service is good and restaurant and music nice. I live a block away and glad!

Yelp
We had a lovely lunch today at Ayesha. The menu is fantastic, every Indian dish was on it and everything we ordered was phenomenal. Calvin was fantastic as our server and he tended to our needs making sure we had what we needed at all times. He is also a great guy! The ambience is very pretty inside and they have some outdoor seating too. It's a great change from the regular eateries in Midtown. I'll be back with my happy family!

Yelp
Ordered the vegetable rice plate 10/10 Garlic and mushroom truffle oil naan 100/10 Will be making a trip back with the family quick and helpful staff

Yelp
I found this place on a whim, and was very pleasantly surprised. The food was so good! Like literally some of the best food I have had in a very, very long time! When you walk in, there's beautiful murals all over the wall and the lighting is perfect and it's really cute And intimate. The staff was very nice and attentive the main waiter or manager, I believe, was very nice when taking my order really helping me choose what level of spice I wanted. the butter chicken I would say was my favorite. It was very very flavorful, and the Naan bread was absolutely delicious. Actually cannot wait to go back here!
google avatar

Shirley F.

Yelp
Came here just to chill and smoke some hookah. It's $50, good choice of flavors. The hookah guy set it up smooth and checked In with us. Our server was very welcoming And helpful especially after realizing it was our first time there. We didn't eat though since we came after dinner but the naan bread stuffed with cheese was a 10/10! And it was suggested by our server
google avatar

Alex B.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! Chicken Tiki, shrimp mango curry and the naan bread was out of control. Probably my new favorite Indian food in Miami

Devanam A.

Yelp
This place is in Midtown and calls themselves as fine dining . Things were off from the time we entered , the place was just sooo hot , indoor seating in Miami HOT!?? Nevertheless we changed seats and it was off to a decent start. We got the chicken tikka masala and the land rogan josh medium spicy with garlic naan . Chicken tikka masala : pretty good to be honest not gonna lie but for a premium price of $25 lol not even close . The lamb was gamey . Service was GOOD , but the place was so hot even the waiters kept going out and coming back. Ambiance was mid nothing close to fine dining . ALSO THEIR AC WAS DRIPPING . Hence the place being so hot . Last thing , any place charging you for gratuity or 20% would let you know right , even in the bestest of places I have been they give you a heads up . This place was empty during peak dinner time !! OVERAL: MID not worth the money

Yelp
Best Indian food I've had in Miami! Lots of gluten free options. They do a great lunch special and service is always great! Highly recommend!

Yelp
I recently dined at one of the best Indian restaurants in Florida. I was utterly impressed by my culinary experience. I opted for the Mixed Grill plate, and it was an absolute delight! From the succulent and tender lamb chops to the burst of flavors in the variety of chicken dishes, every element was a delight. The perfectly cooked shrimp and the exquisite meat kebabs elevated the experience even further. Not to mention, the refreshing and vibrant salad added a perfect balance to the rich flavors of the main dishes. It was truly a symphony of flavors that left me utterly impressed and thoroughly satisfied. The ambiance was cozy, the service was impeccable, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. Kudos to the manager for creating a dining haven where every guest feels welcomed and every dish is served with passion and precision. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone craving authentic and delicious Indian cuisine. Truly five-star worthy!

Jennifer T.

Yelp
Food was really authentic, and the service was attentive. Highly recommend this gem in Midtown.

Alex N.

Yelp
I found 2 staples inside the food. I'm sorry this happened; it's really unfortunate. I used to enjoy the food from this place until this occurred. I understand that it's been a while to complain, but on the day the food arrived, I found the first one, and then I found another one. I thought I would never find another one... after all, accidents happen, but 2 is too many. "The restaurant doesn't respond to emails and hasn't contested this review." "Be cautious when consuming food from this restaurant. In my opinion, they are irresponsible and lacking in hygiene."
google avatar

Allison B.

Yelp
Tried the Dal Mahkni and it was wonderful; flavorful and perfectly seasoned. A beautiful space, reasonably priced and fantastic service!

Yelp
Not only is Ayesha the winner of The Worst Restaurant I've Been to in 2022 but it also wins the trophy for The Worst Indian restaurant I have been to in the World. This place is priced like a high end restaurant but the quality and taste of the food is horrible and worth pennies. The saag had to be taken back and I barely ate the tasteless mess. NO DOGGY BAGS HERE, keep them! When I arrived there was a huge hole in the roof and a leak that was right next to my table. Look at the pictures. I should have known this place was a disaster when I saw these conditions.
google avatar

Yelp
Right in the heart of Midtown I didn't realize this Indian gem was here! The service was impeccable and the authenticity of the food was on POINT. There are tons of options and everything we got was AMAZING. (My boyfriend is vegan and they had a bunch of options for him too. ) I would highly recommend anybody to come here - we will definitely be coming back and making this a staple of ours! Side note the music and Bollywood videos were the finishing touch. Cannot wait to come back! Thank you Calvin!

Dhairya G.

Yelp
Food was very very mid, DO NOT order the chili paneer. Service was, well, we were the only ones there, so it was quick. The ambiance was also nice, well organized. The reason I gave this review is because of the pricing. On the written menus, the printed prices were crossed out and the double of those numbers were written with markers. They charged 20 dollars for 2 bottles of pH balanced "gourmet water". The funny part is, they charged 80 dollars on a 20% gratuity fee by themselves, without asking. That's understood when it's 10 people, and that was us. But then I looked at the receipt. "20% gratuity fee charged for parties 1 OR LARGER. Not worth the price. Don't come here guys.

Yelp
Super bomb chicken tikka with good spice and friendly service. Always hits and has great variety. Owner is so nice ! Also authentic af

Yelp
Stopped by on a whim, and we are so glad we did! The food was very very good and Ky was amazing! The ambiance was lovely, cool art on the walls and nice and clean. The service was amazing. Ky was knowledgeable, kind and very helpful. We would 10/10 recommend stopping in!

Kat A.

Yelp
Hole in the wall GEM! We live in midtown and order delivery from here almost weekly. We didn't realize it's right across the street from Negroni. We came on a Friday evening and it wasn't busy but it DESERVES to be. The food was even better in the restaurant... we raved about every bite. We had a couple of Taj Mahal beers which are pint sized beers. I'm not a huge fan of beer, but I liked this a lot. It was light and easy to drink. For appetizers, we ordered chili paneer and samosas. I enjoyed both but the sauce that accompanied the samosas was delicious! Shrimp vindaloo: this is my go to order. Spicy, filling, but doesn't feel "heavy." Perfect sauce for dipping the garlic naan! Lamb makhani: this is my boyfriends favorite Indian dish. The lamb was good quality and the sauce is hard to describe but it's incredibly flavorful and a bit creamy. The service was great. Kind, friendly waiters always makes the dining experience even more enjoyable. If you like good quality Indian food, you will love this place. This is the best Indian you will find in the midtown area.

Naveed B.

Yelp
Their halal claim is really shady and they don't have any sign or even any knowledge of where the meat comes from. Apparently, they bought the restaurant and kept the name to keep the muslim customers but it's certainly not recommended for halal consumers.
google avatar

Alejandro D.

Yelp
I had to give this place 5 stars because they got every single check list on my list! The food is the best Indian food I have ever taste, the customer service and how efficient this place is with food made this place a most visit in South Florida, just writing about this place is making me hungry.
google avatar

Dave P.

Yelp
Excellent upscale Indian restaurant. Have dined in and ordered to go. Both times enjoyed what we ordered
google avatar

Sarah P.

Yelp
Came here again today, with my son and his friend. We wanted the lunch buffet but it is not offered on a Friday We ordered aamb madras, chicken khorma and chicken Tikka massala, all were fabulous. Great taste, so my five star review is now reflective of this. This is now my favourite indian restaurant around this area...try it you will not be disappointed.

Sandy A.

Yelp
Great food and service. They also made some changes to the decor that improved the ambiance.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my dinner at Ayesha's in Midtown tonight. I was looking for an easy place to get dinner after shopping and decided to try them. I'm glad I did. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and naan. The CTM was delicious, just the right amount of spice, and presented well. The naan was perfect, pillowy, and tasted great with the masala. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone shopping in the area in the mood for something flavorful with good service and a nice atmosphere.
google avatar

Brad B.

Yelp
I've visited this restaurant a couple of times, and it has one major problem - it's not clean enough. The hole in the ceiling and the bucket on the floor that the previous reviewer mentioned are still there after 3 weeks. There's splatter on the dining room walls. The men's room would be acceptable for a gas station but not for a restaurant in midtown. The food is great, but if the staff can't keep the front of house clean, then you have to wonder what is happening in the kitchen. I won't return unless I hear that's it's been cleaned up.

Barbara B.

Yelp
Great food, ambience and service. Best lentil soup. Give it a try you will be gladly surprised.
google avatar

Nicole E.

Yelp
Great attention and amazing food! I loved everything about this place. The servers are very nice! I recommend getting the chicken mango curry and the lamb chop appetizer.

John J.

Yelp
Wow! I was very much impressed. Everything ordered was a hit and the service was even better. Had a great evening during a busy holiday weekend. Don't usually write reviews, but Ayesha deserves a glowing one!
google avatar

Priya M.

Yelp
We had South Indian food there and everything was hot and fresh. It's expensive but food and service both are good.
google avatar

Brynn S.

Yelp
Delicious food - we ordered via DoorDash and it traveled well. A little pricey but worth it!
google avatar

Stephanie C.

Yelp
I was so surprised how good the food was. When we first walked in there was no one eating but by the time we left it was packed. One of my favorite Indian restaurants I have been to in Miami. If you like Indian food you need to try this place. The food was beyond amazing with fresh ingredients and perfectly cooked.
google avatar

Ajade N.

Yelp
Good food, caring service. A bit expensive but understandable due to their location. I enjoyed the lamb chops and their cheese naan is better than a grilled cheese sandwich. They could work on the Saag but everything was pretty much delicious otherwise. The server is so kind and accommodating. We enjoyed ourselves!
google avatar

Kitsune L.

Yelp
Sauce thinner than water, the flavor if there but the quality was not. The Raita tasted like store bought American yogurt. The lassi was SPOILED AND CHUNKY. The only redeeming quality was the rice but at this point with the attention that they showed the other dishes I would definitely believe that they don't even wash it
google avatar

Arturo B.

Yelp
Ayesha quickly jumped to my top Indian restaurants in MIA. We order to go and or delivery at least twice a month to satisfy the never ending craving for tikka masala and tandoor cooked meats, in particular chicken and lamb. Both are absolutely delicious and must be ordered. Always! Of course you must also have butter naan. Get lots of it because this heavenly bread is truly magnificent. I can eat naan for days so... yep. Order and don't look back. Thank you for coming to Midtown and bringing quality food to the area. We hope you stay with us for many years to come!

Yelp
Made reservation on Open table. Received confirmation email and text. When we got there for our Father's day lunch the restaurant was closed!! Horrible!

Jesse S.

Yelp
Amazing spot with amazing service! Kai was awesome, and suggested some great options on the menu. Everything was super flavorful, and tasted great. Dog friendly too! Absolutely recommend
google avatar

Yelp
Authentic South and North Indian food. Kids friendly menu. The service and ambiance was great too. Would highly recommend it.

Yelp
Surprisingly excellent Indian food. I ordered takeout from them a few times and it's always perfect. Staff is always friendly and the take-out is well put-together, hot and fresh. Excellent staples like chicken tikka masala, palek paneer, samosas, etc. I've always held Bombay Darbar as the gold standard in the Miami area, but Ayesha is every bit as good. Highly recommended.
