Wow! I was so shocked at how absolutely delicious my meal at Azur was! I recently saw a local food blogger I follow post about their brunch and it looked so good, I immediately called my brunch buddy and we planned to go ASAP. One thing I didn't realize until we were booking our reservation was that they only do brunch on Sunday's, which I personally don't get, I think it should be Saturday as well, but to each their own! They do however have a fantastic lunch on Saturday's so that is what we decided to go with since Sunday didn't work for our schedules. I made a reservation for 11am which was their earliest available, and eagerly anticipated our meal. When we got there, we were the only patrons in the entire restaurant, usually not the best sign, but we figured it was still early on a Saturday morning, so we sat down.
Our waiter came quickly with menus and briefly told us some customer favorites and described some easily m-missed details (like their burger is more akin to a piece of pot roast meat than a ground beef patty). We ordered our drinks and took a look at the menu. My friend is a vegetarian, and I was a little disappointed in the vegetarian options. There weren't many thing she could have without completely deconstructing the meal, but she said it was no problem and found options she liked.
I got the Girl Next Door to drink, which was raspberry tea based with vodka and other additive's, it was light and refreshing. My friend got both the Le Parasol, which has limoncello and Prosecco, and she got an espresso martini at the end of the meal, which she said was at the top of her rankings.
We decided to share the burrata salad, as it was both vegetarian and an item the waiter mentioned as being very popular. I don't know what they put on this bread, it was a pesto of sorts I believe, but this is hands down the best burrata salad I've ever had. They cut a crispy toasted piece of thick fresh bread into quarters, topped it with the basil concoction, fresh grape tomatoes and a balsamic glaze and then put a beautifully creamy, runny, fresh burrata ball in the center. It was absolute perfection.
For my meal I chose the shrimp salad avocado toast, and again, I have no idea what they seasoned it with, but I couldn't have asked for a more perfect, delicious meal. I was blown away by the flavors on this dish. It came with a small frisée (I believe it was frisée?) salad with a mango dressing that was light and fruity and refreshing. I could not get over how amazing it was, it sounds silly talking about a shrimp toast this way, but honestly it blew me away.
My friend got the veggie quiche which came with the same mango dressed salad and she said it was absolutely delicious as well.
All in all this meal was absolute perfection. Every single bite was perfectly seasoned, deliciously fresh and you could tell the chef really took his time to perfect his meals.
The restaurant as a whole was very beautifully decorated, it had a bar counter that ran most of the restaurant length, and very chic simple decorations. It had a great dinner-date or drinks vibe to it. There is also a large courtyard out front that would be lovely when the weather is right. As we were eating a few tables filled up and by the time we left I'd say about half the restaurant was full.
Overall I can't say enough good things about Azur. It was absolutely fantastic and I cannot wait to come back!
