Azur (Queenstown, South Island) 5 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The whole point of New Zealand, from an outsider’s perspective, is the outdoors — there’s city culture there, of course, but what’s worth going on and on about are the natural gifts of the place. So a hotel like Azur plays to all its location’s strengths; it’s urbane and sophisticated, just a few minutes from the center of Queenstown, but mostly it’s just immersed in natural splendor, with views of Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkable mountain range, and easy access to all the activities, from water sports to heli-skiing, that both entail." - Tablet Hotels

Super Sleek-From the cocktails to the setting, Azur speaks pure Charleston luxury. We stopped by around 10 PM for a nightcap after our evening at The Black Fedora. It felt like our own private lounge. I had a nice neat Basil Hayden Rye served in a chilled rocks glass — simple and just right. The patio has plenty of space and sometimes features live entertainment. The menu offers European small plates, desserts, and a solid cocktail list. What stood out most was Mathis’ cool and comfortable welcome, even late in the evening. It was the perfect way to end our night in Charleston.

We have dined here for brunch and dinner several times and have never been disappointed. It is the closest thing in Charleston to dining in Antibes or anywhere along the Côte d’Azur. An eclectic French menu, a nice wine list and some terrific dessert choices make this an easy choice for brunch, lunch or dinner. Selections are plentiful and there are dishes that can satisfy most dietary needs. We think they have the best French toast in town and their dinner appetizers are shareable and inventive. They have interesting takes on French classics like Croque Monsieur and Croque Madam along with traditional dishes like Beef Burgundy and Duck Confit. We enjoyed making meals from a selection of appetizers and you can design your own charcuterie platters. Decor is upscale French modern with indoor and outdoor dining. Lighting is good, you can actually read the menu and there are nice selections of beers and special cocktails. Indoors can get a bit loud when occupancy is high and outdoor dining is uncovered so you might be shutout of a reservation if raining. The restaurant is well located within easy walking to everything in the market area of the historic district. Parking is conveniently close by and there is an adjoining event space converted from the original wine bar. Prices are reasonable for downtown charleston and the staff is efficient and considerate. Overall this is an excellent addition to dining in Charleston and we give it five Google stars or four clams on the coveted Five Quahog Rating Scale (FIG is still the only five clam rated fine dining restaurant in Charleston but four clams is an extremely high rating).

One of absolutely best restaurants in Charleston for anyone who likes European classy delicious freshly made food. Did I mention it was not crazy expensive either. Have been coming to Charleston regularly for the past 25 years. Now this restaurant is my favorite. Reminds me of Paris 😊

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟– A Luxurious Culinary Escape in Charleston I had the pleasure of enjoying lunch at AZUR today, and it was truly a standout experience. From the moment I stepped in, the luxurious atmosphere set the tone—elegant décor, refined ambiance, and attentive service made for a relaxing and upscale dining setting. The Smoked Salmon Tartine was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor—perfectly balanced with fresh ingredients. The Crepe Seafood was rich and savory, with a delicate texture that highlighted the freshness of the seafood. I finished with their Tiramisu, which was light, creamy, and just the right amount of indulgent. Every dish was crafted with care and sophistication. AZUR is an excellent choice for a refined lunch or a special occasion. Highly recommend!

Exceptional quality, lovely atmosphere, and reasonable prices. We were the last party before they closed and instead of rushing us out of the door, the owner - Benjamin - had a very pleasant chat with us. Highly recommend for dinner!

A French restaurant run by a Frenchman. The eggplant gratin was ok, taste a bit like the moussaka, the bread was good. The duck confit, was not actually confit by still good, served with Brussels sprout and potatoes. The goat cheese was ok, the serving was good, but it was a simple salads. The mussels were with chorizos sauce, it was good but nothing extra, it comes without sides. The burrata was really good, the dressing was excellent. The tiramisu was ok.

FOOD was fantastic!!! But I my 2 complaints were - 1. My drink had a huge ice cube in it where when I pulled it out of the glass I had maybe 1/4 of a my glass filled… the drink was tasty but you’re paying for a cocktail it shouldn’t be more ice than drink. 2. Since it’s more of a sharing menu we had a ton of plates on our table and it got to the point someone would drop off more food and not take the empty plates away. Our server was amazing and had a great knowledge of the menu. Overall I would absolutely go back! I just think little changes like those would have made our experience go from a 7/10 to a 10/10! I’m excited to see this restaurant continue to thrive.

The Hungry Detective and Special Agent Deirdre were checking out leads in downtown Charleston an discovered this little hidden gem tucked away from the market. ATMOSPHERE: Soon as you walk in the door you will think of a French bistro with a little flare and bouji bar seating which is our favorite place to gain intel from the bartender. SERVICE: McCall from Pawleys Island is on point and makes a wicked martini🍸🍸🍸up with three olives…sit at the bar and you cannot go wrong with his insight…McCall knows and he always goes above and beyond the call of duty with top shelf service…he was on point all night!!! FOOD: We started with the smoked salmon that accompanied by mini French pancakes and this fabulous spread…it was delicious and 5 stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Main Course: We shared the Beef Wellington which takes 30 minutes to prepare so order as soon as you arrive…it was next level and cooked to perfection with a light pastry wrap…if we will return just for this magnificent cut of beef!!! VERDICT: Guilty as sin for doing everything right!!! Dominic and his staff are true professionals and the best of the best!!! Cool vibe and wonderful people dining the night away!!! “Good food brings good people together”

Yelp
I was feeling a little down trodden and tired but knew I needed to eat. I had popped in earlier for an apple tart for breakfast (I needed the sugar). After a very long appointment nearby I came back in and grabbed a seat at the bar for dinner. It was not busy when I came in but the entire restaurant was full by the time I was done. I ordered the ratatouille and beef burgundy. I rarely ever finish an entire entree, but I ate everything because it was so comforting. The ratatouille was a lovely blend of soft vegetables, perfectly seasoned. The beef burgundy was so rich in flavor. The beef was firm, almost crisp on the outside yet fell apart easily. The carrots and onions with their mild flavor were tender, and perfectly carried by the hearty flavor of the beef and wine. I rarely nap in the afternoons these days, but I had an incredible nap after this meal lifted my spirits. I didn't have a drink with my meal but they did have a tempting menu which included some mocktails. I'll have to try the lavender honey one on my next visit. P.S...my apple tart was also lovely.

Yelp
Since this a bit off the beaten tourist track along the Market Meeting, and King street you could be excused for overlooking this little gem of French cuisine downtown. Parking is easy in the garage next door, and it is just a couple of blocks from the College of Charleston and the Cistern. Very convenient during Spoleto. The indoor ambience is modern with unique huge blown glass light fixtures and table top lamps, but there is also an outdoor patio which seems nice. The owner is from Paris too. The menu is not complex but varied, and the cocktails are creative; Though pricey they not out of range of other downtown venues. The charcuterie and cheeses are very diverse and we found the recommendations of our helpful and friendly server were outstanding. My partner enjoyed the duck, and my ravioli in pesto sauce was delicious. The portions were not overwhelming and in conjunction with the small plates in advance seemed sumptuous at a reasonable price for this kind of fare downtown. We had a reservation at 6 PM but it quickly got busy. This may have contributed to a misdirection of another table's charcuterie plate to us, but we recognized it right way without even touching it and it was redirected with great apologies to both tables from the wait staff. All was well. The service can be a bit tardy ; One of our group's order was delayed for several minutes after the arrival of the others, but was not a big problem. (this seems common nowadays since recruiting and keeping good help in the service industry can be challenge so we often leave a generous tip). We enjoyed it so much we have put it on our list of favorite spots when we intend to be downtown especially with friends!

Yelp
AMAZING!!!!! We had a great little table inside for our party of 4! GNO! We all enjoyed Wine, cocktails, food and the DESSERT! Charcuterie was soooooo yum! The zucchini ricotta dish was outstanding. The escargot also a MUST! I REALLY loved their espresso martini. We got to meet the owner Dominic and he was so great. Highly recommend and I would definitely make a trip back there again.

Yelp
Great dining experience for cheese lovers! We had a lovely meal at Azur; we ordered the baked Brie, the charcuterie, the pasta and mussels. Cocktails were fantastic and staff was fabulous. Chris the bartender was very attentive as well. Will come back soon

Yelp
We've been 3 times since our first...we love it more each time we go! Cocktails are fresh and tasty. The Italian Meatballs this last visit were amazing!

Yelp
I really love this romantic stylish jewel box of a restaurant. Perfect for so many times and occasions. Like coffee and dessert after dinner, romantic dinner, girls cocktail hour, or family brunch. French favorites are found here but in a small shareable format. The owner was on hand and I feel that it shows in the service. Our favorites were the tagliatelle, bread w whipped brie, goat cheese salad, and Riveria cocktail.

Yelp
This place is on a quiet street with a lovely patio for spring dinner! The servers were so kind and always checked on us. We ordered cocktails and they did take a little to come to the table but they were all so delicious. Ordered French onion soup and it's a hefty portion so if you order that and a meal it may be too much. The beef Wellington was cooked to perfection highly recommend ordering that Warm goat cheese salad was so plain it was not worth it - the goat cheese was on the crostinis with lettuce. Escargot was great in a puff pastry with so much flavor and great presentation. Would go back to try more of this but we had such a lovely time!

Yelp
We popped into Azur one evening for pre-dinner drinks and an appetizer before heading across the street for a reservation later in the evening. Azur is a gorgeous space. It's beautifully decorated and very chic with tables inside and outside. We sat up at the bar and ordered some cocktails along with an appetizer to share. The decor in unmistakably French & très chic. The whole experience was delightful. The bar staff were more than helpful and eager to please. we really had a fun time here, it's an ideal spot to get drinks before our reservation or to have dinner there. The menu looked very impressive and as for the dishes being sent out, they looked fabulous. I will definitely return to this little French gemstone for brunch with friends or evening dinner. I highly recommend hitting this spot while downtown.

Yelp
I wanted to like Azur. Partially because of the reviews and the photos on Yelp. The service was quick and the staff was great. The restaurant has a pretty decor with plenty of seating. I did not like the food I ordered here. The meatballs tasted like frozen meatballs heated up and served over tomato sauce. They were bland and lacked flavor. My salad greens tasted old and I didn't eat it, however I liked the dressing. Lastly, the charcuterie board cheese and meat weren't fresh. I could smell the old smell meat has when you have left over. Overall, I've been to better charcuterie places with more cheese choice and variety.

Yelp
My husband and I had a dessert date night here and thought it was wonderful! The interior design is thoughtful and transformative. It definitely has an intimate, upscale vibe. Our waitress was very kind and full of great recommendations. We highly enjoyed our cappuccinos and desserts. My husband got the cheesecake and I Millie's favorite (see pictures). The slice of cheesecake was HUGE and the fresh whipped cream on the side was delicious. Millie's favorite was nice in that it wasn't too rich, with a less sweet crust and a smooth, creamy mousse inside. It also came with a fruity glaze on top, and fresh fruit as a garnish. The charcuterie boards and cocktails looked like real winners, so I will definitely be back when I am no longer pregnant!

Yelp
My girlfriends and I decided to do the "ABC" challenge for our girls nights and our first stop was Azur. Alexandra was our server and she helped to steer us right with the many choices on the menu! We started with a charcuterie board which was amazing. Who doesn't love a good meat and cheese board?! We ordered the Italian meatballs and Alexandra suggested we order the fresh pasta to go along with it. Being Italian, I absolutely jumped on her suggestion! Focaccia bread with the rosemary and parm with oil on the side. Went really good with the sauce from the meatballs. Next we got the Seafood Vol-au-Vent which basically was like a seafood pot pie. I personally did not care for this dish. I thought it was too fishy but the girls I was with enjoyed it. Our final dish was the Boeuf en Croute which was a beef Wellington. I think I wouldn't enjoyed this more if I wasn't so full from eating all the other food. It was good and I wish I could've enjoyed it mo

Yelp
It's pumpkin spice season, and Mathis at Azur is delivering! Check out their pumpkin spice espresso martini The burrata is hands down the best one in Charleston and if you only order one shareable, let it be this one.

Yelp
Simply wonderful!! Ambiance, service, menu, location- all spot on. I cannot wait to bring more friends and family to this unique experience !

Yelp
I visited Azur for a birthday celebration, and while the waitress provided excellent service, there was room for improvement in explaining the menu. We had some confusion regarding portion sizes, as she mentioned "small plates," but we weren't sure how to gauge them. When the food arrived, we found the portions to be quite small, making sharing a bit challenging. I recommend ordering both a half-appetizer and an entree for a more satisfying meal; the dishes aren't particularly designed for sharing. The restaurant's decor was pleasant, although parking was a bit of a challenge, as the nearby parking lot across the street wasn't designated for Azur patrons.

Yelp
First time visiting and will be back again. I was meeting some new friends and it was such a great experience to be able to have everyone share the small plates and just chit chat. They are a bit pricey for how small they are but I knew this coming in and wasn't shocked. We ordered 4 different plates - smoked salmon, fresh burrata, whipped brie, and the croquetas. They were all so delicious and easy to split amongst 4 people. The service was great and the atmosphere is intimate yet very welcoming. Definitely a great place to get together with some new friends!

Yelp
Superb anniversary dinner last night! We chose Azur on a whim after the weather caused a cancellation at a nearby restaurant. First of all, the inside decor sets the tone with beautiful hues of blue and a gorgeous bar! Thankful for our server Jenna who offered prompt, courteous service with complimentary champagne to make our evening special! Additionally, my husband enjoyed the French beer, I tried 2 signature drinks- carefully crafted, lovely presentation- top notch! For apps, we chose from the pick 3 charcuterie along with the baguette/hummus- devoured both! Dinner followed with escargot, the goat cheese salad and burger... all to share! Each dish offered an intriguing spin on classics, full of flavor and flair! Unfortunately we left no room for dessert, but there will be a next time soon, as we are locals!

Yelp
Excellent French bistro with a focus on Charcuterie and Wine. Cocktails and Mocktails are served as well. The menu offers Italian and Spanish fare in addition to French Mediterranean choices. Desserts and brunch are not to be missed!

Yelp
Their food is really really tasty. We had the ham and cheese croquettes: perfectly fried, the filling was gooey and creamy with high quality pieces of ham. It felt elevated. The seafood vol-au-vent: delicious creamy flavor. Ample seafood to perfectly match the amount of puff pastry given. You will not have dry pastry nor will you have leftover filling. Mussels: delicious garlic and white wine sauce. Also creamy (notice a theme?). I wish this one came with a baguette to sop up the broth but you can buy a warm baguette for $3. We were just too stuffed so didn't do it. And lastly, the Italian meatballs. These felt out of place and I didn't care for them, but my boyfriend loved them so to each their own. As for cocktails, check out the beautiful presentation of the gin and egg white flip! It tasted as good as it looks.

Yelp
This was my first visit, but definitely not my last. Very friendly and happy ambiance. Small intimate space. Although close, still felt a sense of privacy. Everyone who worked there was so friendly and welcoming. The owners, Eleni, our Sommelier, the servers all made our experience a great one. They have a very nice size bar area, and an inviting patio area. We came for the Wednesday wine tasting and sampled three great wines. Ordered a medium sized charcuterie board because why not? With the bread and sides that come with the board, it was filling, but we needed a little more. So, we ordered the meatballs to share. Oh, they were good! So meaty and made to perfection. Of course, we now needed something else to rinse it all down and spoke with our sommelier for her suggestion on cocktails. I went with the Ouh Là Là and my friend had the Papillon. Both equally delicious and just the right touch to end our evening.

Yelp
The service and food were impeccable. Relaxed, yet attentive; exquisite flavor combinations and the cocktails we had were delicious. I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
One of the best meals we had in Charleston . The drinks are among the best drinks I've had, at all, period. Bees knees and passion fruit foam .. to die for. We tried a bunch of things on the menu. The salmon, with blini, sour cream and onions, was really good. The fish was yummy, the blini were soft, just the way they should be, and that extra bit of onion gives it just the right flavor and crunch . The zucchini gratin was also really good, very cheesy. It really hit the spot. The fois gras moose and warm bread was outstanding . Everything they served out with , the apricot jam, and everything else on the charcuterie board complemented it. Grapes, figs, dates, cranberries, all of it. You can't go wrong with Brie on croute. The honey underneath was perfect. Top notch dish Overall everything was truly delicious and I wouldn't hesitate to go back or recommend it

Yelp
Went there for a birthday celebration at Azur was marked by excellent service from our waitress, although there was a slight hiccup in menu explanation that could use improvement. The mention of "small plates" led to confusion about portion sizes, and upon receiving the food, we discovered that sharing was a bit challenging due to the smaller portions. I'd recommend considering both a half-appetizer and an entree for a more satisfying meal, as the dishes aren't explicitly designed for sharing. The restaurant's decor added to the pleasant ambiance, contributing to a celebratory atmosphere. However, parking posed a bit of a challenge, as the nearby lot across the street wasn't clearly designated for Azur patrons. Despite this, the overall experience was enjoyable, especially with the attentive service provided by the waitress. A suggestion for potential diners would be to clarify portion sizes when navigating the menu to ensure a more tailored dining experience.

Yelp
The Hungry Detective found this gem tucked away off the beaten path...Ian served up some awesome wines and started off with an amazing charcuterie....nice atmosphere and wonderful bar area. Yelp
Azur has successfully captured the essence of European cuisine in a tapas format- my visit was a delightful experience. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very pretty- the bar is beautiful and their outdoor patio would be ideal for an afternoon in sunny Charleston. Our service was exceptional, with a staff that went above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction. The waitstaff was knowledgeable about the menu, providing insightful recommendations and even guiding us through the nuances of the European plates. Their attentiveness and genuine enthusiasm for the cuisine was one of the best parts of our evening. We ordered the Lamb Wrap, the Italian Meatballs, Mussels of the Week, Mousse of Duck Foie Gras, Whipped Ricotta, and an extra side of bread. I enjoyed the mussels cooked in a white cream sauce, although my boyfriend said he was partial to traditionally cooked mussels in butter. The meatballs were delicious, but the Foie Gras left more to be desired. The attention to detail in the presentation was commendable as all of our plates looked delicious. The portion sizes were ideal for sharing, fostering a convivial atmosphere that is quintessentially European. I would love to return to Azur to try their meat and cheese selection as that also looks very good. In conclusion, Azur is a great spot for a small bite or wine night with friends. The combination of delectable dishes, charming ambiance, and impeccable service ranks this place well in my book.

Yelp
While visiting South Carolina we stumbled upon this gem. The service was great. The food was delicious. Loved the outdoor seating. Would highly recommend.

Yelp
Wonderful service! Every waiter or waitress we met had a wonderful attitude and got our food and drinks quick and perfectly! The food was so delicate and wonderful! The drinks had a good wine selection. I recommend the Brie as it takes thirty minutes but it is so worth it! It comes in a puff pastry. The cheese melts in your mouth with the honey drizzled pastry on the outside. The best dessert I have tasted is the soufflé as it is very 'chocolatey' and the sauce under it is an excellent tarty raspberry sauce. The restaurant itself has a calm ambiance and the art and patterns on the wall go perfectly with the food and rest of the restaurant.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem because of its location tucked behind shopping and garages. Near La Farfalle and has its own event space, they also have a cute garden patio. The ambiance is bright and cheery yet moody. The prices are really great and the staff is very personable. The service was fast and French! And the food was delish! Nothing was underwhelming and all was seriously so good! More people def should know about this spot for an afternoon lunch or for dinner. Their coffee and teas are really great too everything is made fresh to order!

Yelp
Best Espresso Martini in town. Top 3 I've ever had. The burrata is a must have, and really it's whatever delightful herbacious spread they put on the bread served with it. Skip the tuna app, didn't taste very fresh. Choose a different dessert, the almond chocolate mousse dessert we chose was dry and not very flavorful. Meatballs not pictured were pretty good. Service was fantastic and very friendly. Will be back to try more menu items.

Yelp
Wow! I was so shocked at how absolutely delicious my meal at Azur was! I recently saw a local food blogger I follow post about their brunch and it looked so good, I immediately called my brunch buddy and we planned to go ASAP. One thing I didn't realize until we were booking our reservation was that they only do brunch on Sunday's, which I personally don't get, I think it should be Saturday as well, but to each their own! They do however have a fantastic lunch on Saturday's so that is what we decided to go with since Sunday didn't work for our schedules. I made a reservation for 11am which was their earliest available, and eagerly anticipated our meal. When we got there, we were the only patrons in the entire restaurant, usually not the best sign, but we figured it was still early on a Saturday morning, so we sat down. Our waiter came quickly with menus and briefly told us some customer favorites and described some easily m-missed details (like their burger is more akin to a piece of pot roast meat than a ground beef patty). We ordered our drinks and took a look at the menu. My friend is a vegetarian, and I was a little disappointed in the vegetarian options. There weren't many thing she could have without completely deconstructing the meal, but she said it was no problem and found options she liked. I got the Girl Next Door to drink, which was raspberry tea based with vodka and other additive's, it was light and refreshing. My friend got both the Le Parasol, which has limoncello and Prosecco, and she got an espresso martini at the end of the meal, which she said was at the top of her rankings. We decided to share the burrata salad, as it was both vegetarian and an item the waiter mentioned as being very popular. I don't know what they put on this bread, it was a pesto of sorts I believe, but this is hands down the best burrata salad I've ever had. They cut a crispy toasted piece of thick fresh bread into quarters, topped it with the basil concoction, fresh grape tomatoes and a balsamic glaze and then put a beautifully creamy, runny, fresh burrata ball in the center. It was absolute perfection. For my meal I chose the shrimp salad avocado toast, and again, I have no idea what they seasoned it with, but I couldn't have asked for a more perfect, delicious meal. I was blown away by the flavors on this dish. It came with a small frisée (I believe it was frisée?) salad with a mango dressing that was light and fruity and refreshing. I could not get over how amazing it was, it sounds silly talking about a shrimp toast this way, but honestly it blew me away. My friend got the veggie quiche which came with the same mango dressed salad and she said it was absolutely delicious as well. All in all this meal was absolute perfection. Every single bite was perfectly seasoned, deliciously fresh and you could tell the chef really took his time to perfect his meals. The restaurant as a whole was very beautifully decorated, it had a bar counter that ran most of the restaurant length, and very chic simple decorations. It had a great dinner-date or drinks vibe to it. There is also a large courtyard out front that would be lovely when the weather is right. As we were eating a few tables filled up and by the time we left I'd say about half the restaurant was full. Overall I can't say enough good things about Azur. It was absolutely fantastic and I cannot wait to come back!

Yelp
I loved it when this was Bistro A Vin, and I love it even more as Azur. Went for the wine tasting. Had 3 great wines. The wine reps were very informative and nice. Also, ordered delicious cocktails and food from their menu. The charcuterie selections are not extensive, but there are good options. There is a patio in front of the restaurant with noce greenery. Yelp
My wife and I enjoyed the focaccia, strongly recommend. She liked the crobun and the egg soufflé on it was very fluffy. I had the seafood crepe, it was good but nothing crazy, still would recommend. Atmosphere was nice and chill. Service was good, with the exception that our server assumed my pregnant wife wanted a salad with her meal, rather than a side of fruit, so she was a joy the rest of the meal!

Yelp
Amazing restaurant! Beautiful décor, great ambience and delicious food. Escargot in pastry, Brie cheese dish, burrata and desert were to die for.

Yelp
Tapas-style is my jam, so this place hit the spot! I went with a friend and we split a bunch of small plates. Our favorite was the burrata - so good! The waitress was friendly and provided recommendations about how much and (what) to order when we asked. The cocktails were fun and tasty. The space was cute and I loved the outdoor patio. Honestly perfect for a date night or girl's night out!

Yelp
We found this gem accidentally and we were very happy we did! The service was tops, the food amazing and the atmosphere lovely. An outdoor garden like area Will greet you and the staff will welcome you! We had smoked salmon and I had lavendou, a lavender martini inspired by the lavender fields in the south of France. You must go inside to see the French pastries which are baked by the owner himself- a pastry chef extraordinaire! As you can tell I must have fallen under a spell because I was completely engulfed by the ambiance of AZUR. Did I mention the service was conducted in a family manner with the owner visiting our table and a handsome young man giving me his personal take on desserts and a pretty la serveuse who was totally delightful! Thank you AZUR !

Yelp
Sophisticated, light, and satisfying lunch. We weren't in the mood for anything heavy at noon, so this place caught our eye. Hoping to get Azur more on the map. Also they were super accommodating for our little 3 month old. A casual yet purposeful French vibe throughout. Their caipirinha was also incredible randomly. Apparently one of their bartenders is from Brasil. Anyways, a great lunch and great people.

Yelp
I enjoyed the visit but the menu was very limited, especially if you have any dietary limitations. We had one lactose and one gluten issue to work around. The charcuterie option was great as there was plenty of sheep cheese and they offered some gluten free crackers to sub for bread. I think if you stick to drinks, charcuterie and dessert this is a 5-star. Just not recommended for a full dinner. The location was great with quick access to parking garage. Ambiance was good with adequate conversation mixed with Spanish guitar sets. Decor was nice, as was lighting and hostess. The service was good with exception of a server getting the tables messed up and serving us an au gratin instead of a baked Brie. But they comp'd the mistake and we enjoyed both!

Yelp
Cool vibe, knowledgeable and friendly servers and totally shareable menu! Mussels may have been fed steroids (kidding!) because these were the plumpest babies we've ever had and you'll need two orders of fresh bread to dip into the yummy goodness after the mussels are done. Another highlight was the ground lamb in lettuce leaves with a tzatziki like sauce on the side - perfectly seasoned. Also loved the ricotta zucchini gratin! I hope there is a rotating menu as well as some specials but regardless, Azur is excellent.

Yelp
I had been looking forward to trying Azur since they opened and so glad we did! The place is cozy, bright and relaxing. I could almost feel like I'm in the south of France. We sat inside at a corner table at the window. I started with sparkling rosé and then we decided on food. We took our server's recommendation and tried the Burrata and meatballs. Based on other Yelp reviews, we added the Zucchini. We could not have chosen better. My favorites were the Burrata and Zucchini. The flavors were just right on the burrata. The zucchini was also flavorful and had just the right amount of ricotta and cheese. The meatballs were also good, but if I had to choose, I would go with the burrata and zucchini. We were stuffed, but opted to have dessert and am so glad we did! The Millie's favorite was light and had a great mix of flavor from chocolate to almond to raspberries. I'm so glad they have the dessert case, because we instantly knew we wanted that when we saw it. The service was excellent and our server was very helpful. I look forward to returning to try more small plates! If you are looking for a lovely spot to share delicious French cuisine, cocktails and wine, Azur is the place to go!

Yelp
Food and drinks were delicious. The ambiance paired with the prompt service had has going back two nights in a row! The pan con tomate y jamon was an unexpected delight that we ordered a second plate. Fresh, flavorful and made me reminiscent of my time in Spain.

Yelp
Bistro a Vin has always been our first stop when visiting Charleston. I am so happy that the upgrade to Azur has taken that experience to the next level. Food was amazing, wine selection fabulous as always and the signature cocktails all looked delicious.

Yelp
Wow oh wow oh wow Same owners / operators of Bistro a Vin AZUR is magnificent! The decor is as classy and welcoming as almost any spot downtown. The choices were perfect! The service, as you would expect from Bistro A Vin, is as wonderful as always - Josiah is great The cocktails are handcrafted and really creative - Mathis is maybe the best bartender in Chalreston The overall menu is fun and the food is tasty, and presented so well. Love the meatballs, the burrata, goat cheese baguette, and the ratatouille. The small plates are mostly French, Italian, and Spanish and all blend really well together. French pastries and desserts are all made in house and if you don't save room you are cheating yourself. AMAZING job Andrew. THIS IS EUROPE BROUGHT TO CHARLESTON LIKE NO ONE ELSE HAS DONE. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
10/10 absolutely amazing food. Came here for a bachelorette party and every dish delivered. Standouts were the burata, lamb wrap, meatballs, smoked salmon and mussels. Servers were lovely.

Yelp
The first thing I found delightful with Azur was the Maitre D', Benjamin's warm welcome. He created an environment of good cheer and warmth. The waitress was similarly gracious and helpful with the menu. The escargot appetizer was robust with flavor and softly cradled in crisp puff pastry. The mixed seafood dish in a creamy sauce charmed my seafood loving tastebuds. It came with a spritely seasoned salad. The French onion soup was full of flavor and graced with a zesty cheese topping. A Brazilian guitarist's melodic music gave additional charm to the ambiance. Overall, a happy discovery in Charleston's growing downtown modestly priced restaurants.
