"Some of the restaurants on this list have massive dining rooms where dinner can become a party after a couple glasses of wine. Azzurra is the opposite, with its tiny dining room and intimate atmosphere, and that’s a big reason why we love it. Another reason? Dishes like meatballs bathed in bright marinara, thick-cut pork chops with sweet and tangy peppers, and whatever risotto they’re serving that day. If the weather isn’t too hot, try and grab a spot on the olive tree-lined patio. And for a fun date night activity, stop by their sister wine bar next door to pick up a bottle for dinner—you’ll get a waived corkage fee at the main restaurant.  " - emmy kasten

"A new Italian restaurant is opening on South Water Street in downtown Henderson. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that Azzurra Cucina Italiana is set to open in February as a new restaurant that shares DNA with the now-shuttered Henderson restaurant Bratalian Neapolitan Cantina. Azzurra owner Windom Kimsey had been a regular at Bratalian, where Alessandra Madeira was chef de cuisine and husband, Walter Ciccone, was general manager. The three became friends and Kimsey recruited the husband-wife duo to join Azzurra." - Janna Karel

Azzurra Cucina Italiana is perfection! The menu, ambiance, service, and food/drinks are all amazing. The wine selection has plenty for every palate. During this visit, we enjoyed so many dishes, including the gnocchi, cauliflower, scallops, and hanger steak. For dessert, we did the spumoni bomb and panna cotta. I can't wait to go back and have a cocktail on the patio!

Went to this restaurant last week. You must have reservations. Extremely small restaurant (I think there were only 8-9 tables and limited seating at the bar). Food and service were excellent. Located in old downtown Henderson. Will definitely go back again soon.

Booked dinner to overlap the peak heat hours during the first day of Henderson's free Hot Rod event on Water Street. Was greeted promptly, seated, menus and water delivered. Started with an Azzurra Spritzer ($10*): Refreshing but also had a bite. Server Javier described the specials; I latched onto the Arugula & Pear Salad ($18): Goodly pile of greens, pear slices were snappy, generous helping of gorgonzola, the right amount of vinaigrette. Was tempted by the happy hour pastas, but I wanted to feel virtuous so chose the Zucchini Noodles ($26), and had a ($7*; nice pour) glass of Brancott Flight Song Sauvignon Blanc "20% lighter in calories"! Noodles: Small mound of the vegetable, topped by four large tail-on firm shrimp. Menu claimed there would be a "touch" of tomato sauce, but there seemed to be almost too much, a bit thin in consistency. Tasty dish overall. Dessert was communicated verbally; selected the Pumpkin Cheesecake ($12), which was a nice-sized and spiced wedge [had some takeaway], along with a splash of Nikka Coffey Grain Whisky ($16). *Happy Hour pricing Value: More than decent whether Happy Hour or not. Atmosphere: Wee space brightened by the light wood, bright blue, and grey-blue accents. Place was very busy. Service: Great from Javier.

If you’re a fan of Italian cuisine, this place should be at the top of your list. I recently dined here, and both the chicken parm and risotto were exceptional, setting a new standard for Italian comfort food. The chicken parm was perfectly executed—crispy on the outside with just the right amount of breading, yet tender and juicy inside. The marinara sauce was rich and flavorful without being overpowering, and the melted mozzarella on top was a nice touch, creating a satisfying, gooey bite every time. Paired with a side of al dente pasta, this dish felt like classic Italian done right. As for the risotto, it was pure perfection. Creamy, rich, and packed with flavor, it struck the right balance between a comforting texture and the depth of the broth and seasonings. You could tell the chef took care in preparing it, with each grain cooked to the ideal consistency. It’s rare to find risotto done so well outside of fine dining, but this place absolutely nailed it. Overall, this restaurant offers a cozy ambiance that pairs well with their standout dishes. The service was attentive without being intrusive, and the prices were reasonable for the quality of food. If you’re craving authentic Italian, especially chicken parm or risotto, you won’t be disappointed here.

Good job! Food was excellent. Service was great. Cute little restaurant. MAKE A RESERVATION! It looks like a rez is required tho we were able to get 2 seats at the bar as a walkin. Chix marsala had great flavor. Veal parm was terrific. And as normal with Italian food, it was just as good, if not better the next day. Large portions. Legit Italian personality at no extra charge 😁 we will be back. Neighbors had a smoked Old Fashion that looked amazing. Next time.
