19 Atlanta Shops for Top-Notch Bagels

"Chef Terry Koval struck bagel gold when he opened B-Side bakery and cafe next door to his Michelin-recommended Decatur restaurant the Deer and the Dove. This is where to head for Montreal-style bagels. These bagels are first boiled in molasses and then wood-fired in an oven. Expect flavors like sea salt, benne seed, everything, and brown sugar and raisin here and a variety of toppings, including roasted garlic and chive schmear, smoked white fish, hummus, pimento cheese, and pastrami." - Beth McKibben, Molly Harris

Cute coffee & bagel shop with a few pastries as well. Service is quick. I went two days in a row while visiting the town and both mornings there was a line of about 6 people. Seems to be popular and I can see why. The savory danish was delicious! I prefer savory over sweet, and this goat cheese with asparagus danish was tasty. I also got a bagel, egg, cheese, with bacon one day and with smoked turkey the next day. Both were great. They use a fried egg; it’s freshly made in front of you, nothing pre-packaged. I also got a chai latte both days with oat milk. They use tea concentrate, not flavored syrup.

Had an oat milk latte and meat quiche. The coffee had a strong smooth flavor and milk was froth well. Quiche was fluffy and flavorful. Only negative was quiche needed to be heated a tad longer was cool at the center.

This place is awesome! Great neighborhood coffee house vibe with good coffee, tea and pastries and friendly staff! The fried chocolate chip cookie is awesome. In a very quaint area of downtown Decatur!

B-Side is an awesome cafe right in the heart of Decatur. I had an everything bagel with garlic and chive schemer and bacon. It was out of this world. The bagels are made fresh daily and it tasted fresh out of the oven ❤️. I ordered a caramel latte- the presentation was 💯 and it tasted as good as it looked!’ The staff was friendly and engaging. I will absolutely make this my go-to breakfast place.

Like the atmosphere since it matches downtown Decatur, but it has okay food, my breakfast sandwich came out pretty cold and the baristas have questionable quality control since not once while I was in there did they clean out the portafilter. It’s supposed to be cleaned after every use to avoid old coffee ground build up and taste. Spent: $22 for a sandwich and chai latte.

Awesome breakfast bagels at excellent prices. Staff is super friendly and the food is fantastic. You can taste the freshness of the ingredients. We also tried the brown sugar cinnamon roll…absolutely delicious. Very comfortable location, very nicely decorated. The vintage mural was my favorite.

Sandwich that I bought wasn’t good. It was too salty and the meat looked undercooked. The bun was cold and they added a lot of mayo. I got a cappuccino and a black coffee and both were smaller than the usually 12oz and tasted like a day old. The service wasn’t anything extra ordinary since they barely paid attention to you.

Nice local shop for coffee and breakfast. The food here was very tasty, I think most of their ingredients are locally sourced, but it is fairly pricey in general and the sandwiches weren't very large. The lox bagel sandwich ($14.50) tasted fresh. We also tried the chocolate chip cookie, brown butter pumpkin cookie, and pecan tartlet (~$16 for all 3). All were good, but the brown butter pumpkin cookie was fantastic. Came around 10am on a Saturday and it was packed inside with a line going out the door. It's located around downtown Decatur so it seems like they get a lot of foot traffic. There is seating inside, but the store is fairly small so it's a bit hard to get a table when they're busy.
