"Ba Le Sandwiches in Uptown is perfect for a quick bánh mì pick me up. There are 16 different sandwiches on the menu of this counter-service spot, including vegan and vegetarian options. You can eat your way through the entire menu (we have) and count on your bahn mi being great—served on crusty french bread, and paired with crisp pickled daikon, carrot, onion, cilantro, and jalapeño. Plus, they have deli cases full of buns, sausages, meats, and pastries so you can grab pre-packaged food to take home." - Adrian Kane

Clean store. Lots of already packaged food. Stopped by here late evening pretty famished and they sure satisfied my needs. Good prices too.

Google
Got a dac biet bahn mi, a Vietnamese iced coffee and a durian smoothie. All of the food was really good. The portions for the bahn mi was great for the price as of 2023. (Cost about 7ish dollars for the dac biet, price goes up for grilled meats) The place has a well kept interior. The service was good too! Would come back again c:

Google
Amazing and authentic Vietnamese food. The sandwiches are all delicious. Tons of options. Must try crispy spring rolls, shrimp spring rolls, and grilled pork spring rolls. Bubble tea bar as well!

Omg!!!I am in love with this place. It was nicely clean the staff was very friendly and answered all my questions. They sell everything you need to make your own banh mi at home. I am completely in love 😍!excited to try the food. I would recommend anyone to stop by!

Google
I've brought down my review from four to three stars, as Ba Le is no longer 24 hours whatsoever. Very unfortunate, as 3AM meals were part of the appeal. The Bahn Mi are crisp and refreshing and the only ones I know of in the area. If you are looking to satisfy late night cravings then this is the right place. Fresh ingredients, open 24/5 (not monday or Tuesday), and flat out delicious food makes this location a great addition to your index of places to visit often.

Google
The banh mi was above average - not disappointing - and good enough for me to go back though it’s a bit of a drive. Fresh bread, vegetables, protein, etc., and all seasoned well with a nice sauce/dressing. The employee at the counter (non-Vietnamese) had no clue when I asked about the bread (i.e., baguette). The baguette used in banh mi is made with, among other ingredients, rice, which gives the banh mi the crisp. He insisted it was all wheat, which is impossible to give that texture. Would go back, but Uber Eats covers Ba Le so that’s a plus. If you want a decent banh mi, definitely give Ba Le a shot. I’ve had good banh mi in South East Asia before, and though Ba Le isn’t up to par with the best there, it’s better than most of the other places in the area.

Google
Went there for the banh mi and wasn’t disappointed. The bread was fresh, the fillings were really good, and the service was quick and friendly. It wasn’t too busy either which was great.

Yelp
Unfortunately most of my photos did not save properly, but I still have a photo of the Che! I first tried Ba Le in Boston around 2019 and it was my all time favorite banh mi spot. The flavor has always been consistent and fresh. In this location the banh mi is just as good. This location also had the pork buns which were VERY good. I highly reccomend them. I bought one, and after eating it, I bought 2 more super flakey and flavorful. Summer rolls were really tasty as well and love the snack and dessert options available like the shrimp rice cake. I highly reccomend this place

Yelp
I always skip this place in favor of DC Sandwich, and only went in today because there was a bunch of road blockage on Graham Road, and I couldn't be bothered to wait. I feel like giving three stars is even a bit generous. If you've had good bahn mi, you can't ever go back to substandard bahn mi. It seemed lazy. All meat to one side, not very tasty, and seemed totally incorrect, bread was all soft, kind of underdressed. Mom told me to give it a try, but I should have trusted my own gut. I'm sure I must have been here before, otherwise I wouldn't be so adamant about not going in. Better options out there.

Yelp
This is the spot to go to! Their banh mi is super good! What makes it stand out to me is their bread is just the right soft to crunch ratio. The portion is also reasonable and priced fair for what you get in comparison to other banh mi spots in the area. They also have great to go options that I really like and to go desserts that are refrigerated and fresh. Their pate au chaud is ok, maybe get it when it's fresh in the mornings, I don't recommend it late in the afternoon or evening. Also their chicken leg quarters they sell $3.50/piece or $3/10 which is a very good deal and it's not dry it's great flavor not over greasy or salty. Come try it here they also have smoothies and flavored teas come in one size only. They don't charge extra if you use a card.

Yelp
Great Bahmi sandwiches, especially their combo! First time back in VA after several years and I'm glad to have gotten it again.

Vivian Z.

Yelp
Stopped by to grab some bahn mi and they were fantastic! There's no indoor seating here but there are a couple of tables and chairs outside for those that want to stay and eat. The bread here is absolutely amazing!! They only specialize in bahn Mi's however they do have some yummy desserts and prep packed food you can also buy! There's also some snacks for sale as well. I wish there was more meat inside the sandwich -- which is my only con. Service was nice and the cashier was very nice

Yelp
We were driving by and haven't been in a few years so we decided to stop by and grab a couple of Bahn Mi. The service is still friendly but the inside is very different compared to the last time I was here. A lot less indoor seating. We ordered roast pork and bbq pork Bahn Mi. They both came out in about 5-10 minutes. Still a good amount of food. There was no skimping on the meat and vegetables, good flavor, and the bread was nice and crispy. We also grabbed some pork summer rolls from the warmer which were huge too. A little disappointed that they no longer stay open late but its understandable. Not the absolute best around but still a very solid Bahn Mi option.

Yelp
Budget friendly and delicious Bhan mi. It's also a shop that sells snacks. Outdoor and indoor dining.

Yelp
It's been more than 5 years since I last dropped by Ba Le. It used to be my favorite Vietnamese sandwich shop when I lived in Northern VA. I remember when they used to serve soups - the Bun Rieu, Pho, etc but I've heard they don't serve soups anymore. But lucky gif me, thanks to Amanda P. who was so gracious to buy some banh mi (Vietnamese sandwiches) for me when she visited Northern VA. I ordered 5 sandwiches and they give you one free! I ordered the banh mi Dac Biet (special) which has pate, head cheese, ham. The sandwiches come with cilantro, cucumber, pickled carrots and radish, green peppers which you can request to have on the side. The sandwiches were delicious as I remember them.

Yelp
I love Ba Le - im just missing the old Ba Le, i miss the porridge. There's been some major changes ever since they changed owners or management -. Im missing a lot of food. Ambiance is okay. Just as expected - it can be crowded specially on the weekend. But if you love Banh Mi this is one of the best. Get their baguette too.... People come and buy by the dozen.

Le M.

Yelp
Ba Le was the only place opened around 9pm around this area. That's pretty awesome for last minute deli food. I ordered 2 bánh mì special and asked for the vegetable on the side. I trust that they put it in. Got to the airport, open the bag and they forgot the vegetables ... for $8 a bánh mì. This was a failed.

Orlando T.

Yelp
Been coming here for 10+ years I feel like I've been to the bottom and back with this place. Remodeling, new ownership, staff changes, removal of soups, cutting out the 24hr and now we are here. - Banh mi still banging - try out the meatball version - Avocado bubble tea - still creamy and smooth (top 3 on nova) / try the durian one too! - They expanded the lunch menu for quick pick up items - boosted their outdoor seating and indoor again now Covid is tapered down - staff is pretty regular and Edwin is a cool guy

Cham K.

Yelp
This place really fell off. It was our go-to late night spot after the club. They had everything from Banh Mi to hot plates of Vietnamese deliciousness. They are no longer 24 hrs (thanks to the pandemic and Asians gangsters always fighting outside their establishment). I came in randomly after many years and ordered the Vietnamese pork chop over rice. My meat was like tires. The egg over cooked. I also ordered a smoothie that usually comes with boba and guess what? No boba. None of the original Vietnamese staff were running around at the counter. All Non-Asian staff (nothing wrong with that, but you can tell the owner doesn't seem to care anymore). Totally sad by what I experienced because Ba Le was truly the OG Vietnamese spot. I hope this location closes down and someone else re-opens this chain to its former glory.

Kelvin L.

Yelp
The best banh mi in the area. Love this place! The bread, the pickled vegetables, and the portion size is great!

Jesse M.

Yelp
Got this today, very good, highly recommended. Meatball sub was perfect. Service is fast and it was super busy, lots of variety to choose from

X M.

Yelp
Great place for buns and grilled chicken legs. My to go place every time I want Vietnam style sandwiches.

Guillaume L.

Yelp
Great food, friendly service and clean store. Always looking forward to coming here and getting their Banh mi. Best Banh mi with top notch fresh toppings I have had from the DMV area! Highly recommended!

Andy H.

Yelp
Great customer service. Extremely polite and nice. The Banh mi sandwich was fresh and excellent. Ambience was great. You know it is great when there were lots of Vietnamese customers. I have not been here since pre-Covid. The owner immediately recognized me and welcome me back. Please try this place again. The owner is also generous. The customer in front of my ordered 5 spring rolls. The usual deal is order 5 and get 1 free spring rolls. Because there was only 5 rolls left, it told the surprised customer that normally he would give an extra roll for free. But, because there was only five left, he gave her a delicious grilled chicken quarter (leg and thigh). The customer was ecstatic about the 5 for 1 deal, and even more surprised for the free chicken. Now, that's customer service. Also prices extremely reasonable. The Viet ice coffee was fresh and delicious. Enjoy.

Yelp
I've been sleeping on Ba Le because frankly I think there are better banh mi and deli shops in the Falls Church area. That being said I have to give them a little shout out for their prepared food section! We got a grilled pork vermicelli platters, a banh xeo, and a huge styrofoam package of freshly made banh cuon to feed my family and it barely made a dent in our pockets! It's not the best, but it was tasty and enjoyed by all! Will have to give them a try again soon for some banh mi :)

C W.

Yelp
The Ba Le is located at the end of the strip mall. The menu offers an array of banh mi sandwiches, drinks, as well as prepackaged food and snacks like banh xeo, banh cuon, and beef jerky. I was craving banh mi, so I took advantage of the buy 5 get 1 free deal. I bought the #1 (Ba Le Special) and #8 (Grilled Pork) to go. The cashier was friendly and also asked if I had any peanut allergy. I was happy he asked because I otherwise wouldn't have known they put them in the #8, as it's not listed on the menu. I also tried the Thai iced tea. My order was ready in a short amount of time. They separated the veggies for my to go order so the sandwiches wouldn't get soggy. I preferred the Ba Le Special to the Grilled Pork banh mi. And the Thai iced tea was not bad.

Stephanie T.

Yelp
Came back again for some other packaged goodies to go... and still a huge fan! For alittle over $20, I picked up a shrimp banh xeo (Vietnamese omlette) that came with all the fixin's (basil, cilantro, lettuce) and a tray of 10 banh couns (Vietnamese rice crepes) with meat. Those who don't know, Vietnamese food is both delicious and a prettttty cheap way to get full. A bowl of pho still sits around what? $10? I was alittle worried about reheating the banh xeo, but there's nothing an air fryer can't fix. I put it in the air fryer for ~3 mins and it was hot, crispy and sizzling, as if you were sitting in the kitchen frying 'em up with your bà ngoại. Yes, I am one of those crazy air fryer ladies. Again, there's a reason why the entire dmv heads to Ba Le.

Emerald T.

Yelp
My first time trying this restaurant, I ordered via food delivery service, so I've never been to the establishment. Got veggie banh mi and I already want another!

Yelp
Don't let these old and bad reviews discourage you from checking out this place!! TIP- they dont sell soups anymore..maybe due to renovations or the owners choice, im not sure.. ANYWAY- The owner is very nice and sweet and the staff is efficiently trained and can answer all your concerns or questions (as well as being very professional and nice). OH! they also have sweet deals too- 1. Banh Mi - Buy 5 get 1 free 2. Cha Hue and Cha Chien - Buy 3 for $10 (orig $4/each- Mix and Match) 3. Cha Lua or Cha Tieu- $10 or 3 for $25 4. Chicken Thigh - $3 each - Buy 3 get 1 extra free 5. Cha Gio/Eggrolls - $1.50 each - Buy 5 get 1 free 6. Banh Bao and Pate Chaud $2.50 each or Buy 5 get 1 extra free (Mix and Match) They have a large variety of different Vietnamese food ranging from banh mi (ofcourse) - to banh cuon (stuffed rice cakes) - grab and go rice or noodle dishes - eggrolls - chicken thighs - goi cuon (spring rolls) - ...seriously the list goes on. The great thing too is they dont toast the bread if you get it with the veggies on the side (to eat later) because then the bread doesnt harden. They have lots of drink options too which is nice, and customizable as well. (If you're coming before 4pm ask Tai to make your drinks- his always taste the best and he's always more than willing to remake it for free if you dislike it)! PS- seems like they're adding gelato/ice cream and french pastries soon from the scene of renovations. It'll be a great add to their French home theme!

Yelp
Came here because I was craving banh mi but left with so many other goodies! This place is quite the gem. I usually frequent banh mi DC or Eden center to satisfy my banh mi cravings but prefer this place. Their banh mi dac biet is delicious - generous portions of mayo, pate & meats. I always ask for the veggies on the side & they're never stingy which I love! The bread is just crispy enough to give you a nice crunch but soft enough to not beat up the inside of your mouth. They offer a buy 5 get one free deal on their banh mis. I also left with some egg rolls which are just perfection. They are a close rival to my grandma's! Super crispy, nice size, good amount of filling & delicious flavor. I tried their pork bun which was also delicious. Next time I'll make sure to get a bunch - my picky little one loved it! The goi cuon (summer rolls) were pretty sad though so I wouldn't recommend those. But everything else was top notch. They have many different che in the refrigerated section which I'll be sure to try next time. These are all things I grew up eating & this little bakery does a stellar job. Service is always friendly & helpful.

Yelp
+Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwiches are legit. +Dessert drinks are great! We always try to get an exotic fruit shake, such as Jack Fruit or Durian. +Open 24 hours. +Next to the greatest pho shop in Northern VA, so you can always pick up a few Vietnamese subs to-go for later; hitting 2 spots for 1 visit. -Prices have significantly gone up over the years. -The cleanliness and ventilation can be better.

Yelp
Ba Le has been my go to place since I was a child for banh mi's and quick to go Vietnamese eats! To today it is still my ultimate go to place. To watch them evolve over the years and perfect their banh mi's has been a delicious journey to my palate. From the perfectly toasted baguette, to the fresh pickled carrot/reddish, to the choice of filling (combination and meatball selections for the win!! The pate with the combination order is delicious) along with a fresh bite of aromatic cilantro -- plucks my heart strings in every perfect way. Not to mention their hot dishes (fresh to made orders are only available before 5pm) are absolute quality. Don't be fooled by the "deli" vibe, because their home made bun bo hue is some of my family's favorite. Even family that moved away will always make it to a point to stop here whenever they visit. They also have hot dishes that are packaged and available (first come first serve) - from rice platters, to banh xeo, Banh cuon (my personal favorite!! If you see it, pick it up before it's gone!), along with some rice and chicken dishes too. We also love the bao's - center filled with a boiled egg, soft pork, and mushrooms -- seasoned and packed into the heart of a soft bun...need I even say more. When you cut into it, steam rises from the center - it is beyond delicious. Last but not least, the seasoned chicken legs, my fiancé always orders one to go every time. Also, the price can not be beat! Tip: don't forget to ask them for their deals (buy 5 get 1 banh mi free). Enjoy!

Paloma D.

Yelp
Probably more than 3 years that I didn't stop by at this place. Too bad no more soups. Just Banh Mi, Shakes, etc. but the best seller is still the roasted chicken legs and I still prefer their ice coffee than any competition in the area.

Patti S.

Yelp
Their spring rolls, delish! Little cafe, with so much Vietnamese snacks, desserts. Worth a try.

Martin S.

Yelp
Great Banh Mi Bahn Mi are a delicious version of a Vietnamese sub. There are lots of banh mi places in and around Falls Church but this one of the very best! Bread is crunchy crispy crust and light and airy body. A wide variety of fillings from roast pork to shrimp, beef and "organs". Our favorite is the pork with pate. Veggies are crisp and fresh. Great thing about BALE Bakery is that special requests like, for instance, no jalapenos (a standard on all their sandwiches) or add pate are honored. Also, try any of the packaged plates both hot and cold for a special treat. Don't miss the Vietnamese-style summer rolls with shrimp with the crumbled peanuts and dipping sauce. Sandwiches are BIG and unless one has a major appetite can be shared or saved for later. At $4.75 each, a real deal! Most items, are buy 5, get 1 free so plan a party!

Yelp
Stopping by Ba Le Friends Bakery wasn't on my agenda the day I stopped by (7/21), but since I had lunch with family next door, I ended up stopping by for some goodies before continuing with my day. To my surprise, this place is smaller than it seems. There's one long counter with a menu displayed above and maybe 10 tables available. FOOD: Goi Cuon ($5.50/pack): It's on par with most places, although the pork was paper thin; we mainly tasted rice noodles, vegetables, and shrimp. The accompanying peanut sauce was pretty good, and the rolls were the standard size. Each pack comes with 3 pieces. Pate Chaud ($2.50/ea): Good! There were only a couple left when we stopped by (a good sign), so we ended up buying both. The pastry had the perfect flakiness, while the filling was large and had pretty good flavor. It makes for a great afternoon snack if you can't stop by during breakfast. Side note: Don't quote me on the price. They must be popular because there was hardly anything on display when I stopped by past lunch; I was going to buy banh bao, but they only had a handful left that were individually wrapped. They're located in a strip mall, so there's ample parking if you stop by past peak hours.

Michael L.

Yelp
THE BIG: Friends, come to this bakery! Located in a shopping center near the corner of Lee Highway and Graham Rd. The bread is on point! Large selection of Banh mi (~15 types) and boba/smoothies. Plenty of space inside and outside, however the seats are super hard and sometimes uncomfortable. THE BLACK AND WHITE: This is the perfect late night eatery place since it's 24 hrs. I always come here when other places aren't open (around 10pm or later). And I always order the same thing: bbq pork banh mi and 2 egg rolls (technically they're spring rolls, but still good nonetheless). Order takes about 5 minutes, which is lightning fast. There is a wide selection of boba and smoothies, but I have yet to try them. My go to boba place is Kung Fu Tea. If you're thirsty, there's 2 factory refridgerators in the left hand corner of the store with a variety of drinks. I like how they sell young coconuts, but they're on the expensive side (~$6). I hear their bun bo hue is pretty good.. THE FINAL BAMBOO: I usually spend ~$8 for a banh mi and 2 egg rolls. The banh mi itself is around $5 while the 2 egg rolls are $1.50 each. Not bad prices considering how much these modern banh mi places that pop up are charging.

Quynh D.

Yelp
My family and I have been coming to Ba Le for almost 20 years, sadly it's gone down hill. I didn't visit during 2020 but went a few months ago and was pleased to see them still there and it's clear its under new ownership. While they offer the same items as before the quality does not seem as good and some of the staff are not friendly. I had purchased a few ready made items (cha lua) and after paying, noticed the man who rang me up had charged me incorrectly for them. No problem, mistakes happen. So he said his manager was coming and she would be able to refund me. After waiting almost 10 minutes I asked him when the manager was coming - it turns out she wasn't even there - she had left and was returning from wherever she went. A few minutes later the manager finally arrives and she begins to do the refund, but didn't refund me for the correct quantity. When I pointed this out she looked beyond irritated at ME, even though it was their staff who had made the initial mistake; she never even said anything as simple as "sorry". The young man was very apologetic but she was very unfriendly. When I finally got to have my chicken banh mi, I found a lot of bones inside. I have never had a sandwich from here in the past with bones, in all the years I have been eating here.

Todd H.

Yelp
Best Vietnamese Iced coffee in the area hands down!!! And I've tried many in the area.

Lexi T.

Yelp
Customer service is good. The Banh Mi is mediocre. The meat, condiments, and vegetables in the Banh Mi is just not as crisp and fresh compared to other places I enjoy.

Lillian L.

Yelp
This place has definitely gone downhill. It used to be my go to place for banh mi but portions are smaller now, prices have gone up and the bread isn't as fresh as it used to be. I also found some type of silver tie/piece of light metal in my sandwich that I almost ate! Unfortunately, a friend of mine had also told me stories of finding a glove in her bag of veggies but I tried to not have that bother me but it should have rang a bell. I'm going to have to take my business elsewhere now. Beware what you order from here and always check your food!

Leslie U.

Yelp
Ive been here hundreds of times now and the prices have slowly gone up and the food isn't as great but yet I still come back. I usually get the sandwich special or the nem nuong. Be careful of getting some of their chicken ones because it tends to be dry. The sell different rolls but the wrapper was hard and the veggies inside were brownish so it was old but maybe it was because we went at dinner time so they weren't fresh. I love their banh day though its Vietnamese ham stick between two sticky rice cakes. It might be one rice cake too many but its a comfort food of mine that reminds me of my childhood. They have dessert and bubble tea here but nothing really stands out. Its a great alternative place to go to for late night dining than fast food

Ron G.

Yelp
Shredded Chicken is AWESOME! Been getting it for over 5 years. It is just a cut above all others with the bread Perfectly Textured every time! Everything we have gotten over the years is just Better than we thought it would be. Today we Over did it Again and we are Loving it! Very Fresh Every Time! Much Love Always!

Soo H.

Yelp
Today, I ordered my usual bahn mi thit nuong (grilled pork) and also tried the grilled pork vermicelli from here since I normally love their grilled pork in their bahn mi's (Normally I go around the corner to get the grilled pork vermicelli at Saigon 1975 after picking up bahn mi from here.) ...EXTREMELY disappointed in the quality. In all the years I've been coming here, I've never gotten such poor quality food like this from here before. I don't know the cause of this, but I was very underwhelmed. Let's start with the fact that we are in a pandemic. I've been to some restaurants for take out during these times, and it's unnerving seeing the people that hand you food or make your food not wearing a mask, or seeing them handle money then going directly to deal with or make your food without washing or sanitizing their hands. They have a glass partition set up at the register but it does not cover the entire counter, so their employees still wear masks. The last time I came, the gentleman at the register had his mask on the whole time (applause). Today when I came, the lady was wearing her mask on her chin while she was talking with customers, handing the food, making the drinks, etc. The mask never covered her mouth. I also paid in cash, and a couple customers behind me they ordered drinks. After their transaction, the lady didn't even wash her hands before she started making their drinks! Needless to say, I did not feel safe with the handling of food and transaction. Now the grilled pork and egg roll vermicelli (bun thit nuong). (I wish I had taken photos before I threw everything out...) Continuing with the pandemic quality check--when I took the tray of food out of the bag at home, I was appalled. The plastic fork was inside the tray inside my noodles... Even before the pandemic, this wouldn't be acceptable, but now in this current climate that is even more uncalled for! The utensils should NEVER be in the food! They should have put the fork in the bag with the food, but not within the noodles. Because it's not an open kitchen, I don't know where that fork has been. I don't know what it's been in contact with. I don't know how it came to be placed in there. Anyway, moving on... I pushed on and was starving and drove almost an hour total to get the food and bring it back home, so I just threw out the fork and began to eat. The quality of the food was terrible. It was stale. There were peanuts were EXTREMELY stale. The pickled radishes had no flavor whatsoever. The grilled pork was so dense and so dry and barely warmed up. It honestly seemed like pork they were about to throw out the night before that they forgot to get rid of. The vermicelli noodles were overcooked. I took a few bites and had to throw it out. The grilled pork bahn mi (bahn mi thit nuong)... My all time favorite from this place... Boy... it was disappointing af! The bread is always good here so I'll give them that. (Honestly the bread is the only reason this review is 2 stars instead of 1.) I've been ordering the bahn mi thit nuong for almost 10 years from this place. Never had I had bahn mi of this lackluster quality from here in all those years... The meat was cold and even worse than the meat in the vermicelli noodle platter. It was basically pork jerky. Also, never in the 10 years have they ever put peanuts in the bahn mi. The pork was slathered with pork and the stale peanuts and not that fresh green onions (I've never had bahn mi with green onions and peanuts from here). I don't know if maybe it was pork that was going to be used in a platter or something, but it just was not it... And again, this was slathered and drenched with mayo. When I called to complain about the quality so they can do a quality check for the food, the lady's apology wasn't an apology. She said the typical 'sorry you don't like it', not 'sorry we served you something of poor quality'. I wasn't even calling to expect a refund, but I was told to drive all the way back to show them the food, to get a refund and that's all that they can do. Why would I drive a whole other hour to get a refund? Two hours of driving for food, the disappointment, the food to go in the trash, the refund, all to come back home again? Maybe if you paid for the gas and time. So no thanks. Super disappointed in the complete downfall of the quality of the food. I know restaurants are hit extremely hard during the pandemic and I don't feel great writing a bad review for the public, but I also did not feel safe.

Yelp
This review is for a to-go order. 1. Ambiance: N/A 2. Food: I had ordered the spicey beef noodle soup (bun bo hue). I have never tried any soup dishes at this restaurant since it is mainly popular for their sandwiches. I can tell you that I am quite surprised at how tasty the broth was. Also, the meat was thinly sliced and flavorful. 3. Service: N/A 4. Costs: The soup was a little over $10, which is market value at other Vietnamese restaurants around the area. I thought it was appropriately priced. 5. Overall Experience: This was a to-go order, which my sister had brought home for me. I am able to rate on the food and costs, which they both deserve a star for each. Side Notes: N/A

Yelp
Updated menus and maybe ownership? No longer serve the noodle dishes and banh mi quality has significantly come down. Last had the banh mi bo nuong and I thought it was priced high and the flavor was lacking.

Yelp
I used to love Ba Le but my most recent visit will be my last one there. First off, there are plenty of other banh mi places in the area that are well worth their prices. I'm used to ordering banh mi with extra pickled veggies at no cost but I was charged extra which led me to pay almost $9 for a singular banh mi. While $9 isn't a lot of money, it's almost laughable for a banh mi. The cashier was not very helpful and was almost a little rude to me when I asked about the charge. Ba Le has changed a lot over the years. There are plenty of banh mi restaurants in the area that have better service and better sandwiches. My sandwich meat had a lot of cartilage in it which made eating it rather unpleasant. Overall, I would not recommend coming here for your banh mi cravings and would highly suggest going elsewhere.

Yelp
This is my go to for bahn mi! I love their vegetarian bahn mi and get it almost weekly at this point. The staff is always really nice too.

Yelp
Under the previous owner, the quality of the food and the service was much better. Now they are only coasting on the reputation that was previously established. As another reviewer here mentioned, the ratio of meat to bread in their sandwiches is really off now as it seems that they cut back on the meat about 25%. They also seem to have a very hard time with fulfilling very simple orders. For example, I ordered 11 grilled pork sandwiches and 1 chicken. The long wait provided me with 12 chicken. When offered, I asked that the vegetables be on the side in 2 separate bags -- 1 bag with enough for 2 sandwiches and 1 bag with enough for all of the remaining sandwiches. They couldn't do that right either (10 slices of cucumber for 12 Banh Mi too?). Their prices posted online are roughly $2-3 cheaper per menu item than what they actually charge too. A grilled pork Banh Mi is now $7.45. Banh Mi prices are cheaper in New York! I repeat: New York! Ba Le's entrees are as high if not higher than going to an actual restaurant too. Going back to to the chicken, it was skimpy and flavorless. My Vietnamese mother didn't even finish half of her Banh Mi and is currently busy spreading the news of what happened to this place to the ~30 family members we have in the area. Ba Le's solution to the mistake was to offer to let me keep the wrong sandwiches which I declined because what was I going to do with twice as many Banh Mi? I didn't care about getting free food as much as I cared about wasting valuable time and all the hassle. Also, since the receipt was correct, I'm thinking this could've been purposely done since the chicken is so bad and much cheaper than grilled pork -- even less reason to want them back on top of what I actually ordered. Regardless, I hope their staff enjoy eating those Banh Mi as much as the owner enjoys his staff wasting inventory like that on top of loosing customers who were once very loyal before the pandemic. I had been a customer of this place since the early 90's. I also work for one of the largest catering companies in the area, and we definitely won't be sourcing baguettes from them any longer. What has happened since the original owner passed is just a shame. The current owner needs to manage the business better and drop those prices, especially since the food quality is not nearly as good as it used to be. Cutting corners and raising prices will end a business like this fast. Everything they outsource seems to be the same, but what they actually prepare or cook themselves is far from what it was. I certainly will never be coming back to this establishment again based on this visit and also due to the fact that their prices are as high or higher than the far superior Banh Mi shops in the area.

Yelp
I really only come here after a night out, so I'm not usually picky at that time. Not sure why there's such a low rating-stick with the Banh Mi and you might be okay. I haven't tried their soups, but I'm told they're good. I did try their banh beo. Word of advice, stay away from it. Actually, just stay away from the food that's been sitting out for a while after a night out. This place is easy on the wallet and also easy on the stomach. I usually get the Banh Mi Dac Biet (Special Sandwich). Ba Le passed my rating for their Banh Mi Dac Biet. My cousin in law got the lemongrass beef banh mi and said the meat was a bit dry, but he still enjoyed it. Also, if you come here, give their cold tea drinks a try too. They have tons of snacks/food options, which is really nice since they're open 24/7 (besides Tuesdays). They also sell ingredients to make your own banh mi :)

Yelp
Love this place for banh mi sandwiches, many different options at a good price point. They also have a lot of different Asian desserts and boba smoothies. A lot of their items have a buy 5 get one free deal. My bf and I get that deal when we get their crispy eggrolls.

Yelp
So many fond memories of this place from when I was younger. They've come a fair way from a counter, a bin for bread, some aged fridges, and cheap folding furniture. I used to stare in fascination at all the banh rau cau and other deli offerings as my pops picked out a couple mini-baguettes from a fresh batch (nothing kills an appetite faster than stale bread). Bun thit nuong, goi cuon, and che made for a weekly meal combination that my family regularly invested in. The rice was just sticky enough to be good regardless of drizzling with the nuoc mam pha, and the daikon and carrot were roughly julienned over a lettuce leaf. The chicken was always cooked all the way through, while retaining a seasoned semi-crispy skin and tender dark meat cradling cartilage. Three and a half stars for its state today. Soup broth for the bun bo hue was a bit light, but most of the noodles were cooked to the proper chewiness. Banh mi pales in comparison to the cream of the Eden Center crop, but acceptable when considering bang for the buck. Major kudos for using real taro instead of powder when blending that particular boba drink!

Yelp
I came to Ba Le a few years back for the Bahn Mi. I remembered it was nothing special, just a very standard Bahn Mi shop. HOWEVER, I decided to stop in recently to get a quick meal and to my surprise the Cha Siu and shredded pork Bahn Mi were amazing! I think they also butter their bread, which makes a huge difference. Ba Le use to be a quick stop for me when I'm hungry, but I'm definitely bringing the entire family next time!

Yelp
Great spot for late night eats especially since they are open for 24 hours. They serve all types of l Vietnamese cuisine ranging from banh mi to pho. Their Banh Mi comes out really fast as I think they are pre made. They also sell a good assortment of bubble tea as well as a TON of Viet desserts. The banh mi has some really hard bread, so if you aren't a big fan, my friend showed a good trick by dipping the banh mi into some pho broth. Adds some good juiciness and a nice flavor to the banh mi. Didn't get the pho this time, but I did get the Bun Bo Hue. Very good level of spiciness and flavors. Had a very good portion and the meat that came with was very tender and juicy. Above average especially at 4 am in the morning. A must have place on late nights out.

Yelp
Easily the best Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwich place I've been to in NOVA. The #1 with everything includes ham, and other deli meats packed into a maybe 8 inch baguette with pickled veggies. They have a larger size too, but I found the normal one to be adequate in size and at $3. Tip: If you're taking the sandwiches to go, ask them to put the pickled veggies aside in a baggie so that they don't make the bread soggy when you take-out. You will also have to mention if you want chili peppers in there since I think they have them in there as the default.
