"You know a restaurant's drinks are good when everyone at your table is passing around each other’s cocktails swapping sips. Expect the pass-and-sip at Baar Baar, a high-energy Indian spot in Downtown Bollywood-inspired cocktails that are way better than the food. Get the “Slumdog Millionaire,” which glows orange from turmeric-infused gin and tart passion fruit juice. There’s also a gingery “Munna Bhai MBBS” that cuts the whiskey burn with sweet mango murabba and enough ginger to wake up your sinuses. Each cocktail on the menu is incredibly easy to drink, so don’t be surprised if cocktail hour spills into a long dinner." - sylvio martins, brant cox, garrett snyder
"Baar Baar is more of a restaurant than a bar, but you should come to this modern Indian spot for dressed-up cocktails that taste as good as they look (we can't say the same for all the food here, unfortunately). Sit at the shiny bar, order a plate of dahi puri, and sip creative Bollywood-inspired cocktails like the bright yellow Slumdog Millionaire with turmeric-infused gin, fizzy tonic, and tart passion fruit juice. We'd like to drink four of these on a beach." - brant cox, nikko duren, sylvio martins
"This splashy DTLA spot a block north of the Grammy Museum pairs creative riffs on Indian dishes with pulsating house music, delicious Bollywood-inspired cocktails, and lots of dangly chandeliers that wouldn’t be out of place in a Vegas casino. The fusion-y dishes come beautifully plated, but aren’t always as flavorful as they look—we prefer their take on classics, like butter chicken with big, tender pieces of dark meat and roasted lamb shank in salty nihari gravy. Oh, and please use this place as a meetup spot before and after any big events, because the drinks are excellent (order the Slumdog Millionaire gin & tonic)." - nikko duren, brant cox, sylvio martins
"I’m excited and hopeful about what Baar Baar entering the LA dining scene means for Indian dining in the city." - Eater Staff
"A Manhattan East Village import on Figueroa preparing contemporary Indian fare under chef Sujan Sarkar with modern plates like avocado dahi puri, cauliflower with carrot pachadi and peanut thecha, and a stewed Kashmiri duck taco in a vibrant, banquette-lined space." - Eater Staff
