Baba G has fantastic service, but I really didn’t think the food was worth the cost. My salad was over salted and the bread was tasteless and super dry. My friend however had a good chicken shawarma but not amazing for what they charge. Everyone is super friendly, but I just couldn’t go back again. Sorry for the review but hopefully it helps to get this place on track.

Returning for the first time since the son took over, I was delighted to find that the essence of this establishment's culinary excellence remains intact. The food, as always, is delicious, providing a comforting familiarity that makes it a cherished spot. However, a tinge of nostalgia lingered as I discovered one of my all-time favorites, the tabbouleh, had been removed from the menu. Despite this slight disappointment, a silver lining emerged – a pleasant interaction with the owner. Being nice and expressing my fondness for the tabbouleh led to a delightful surprise; they graciously prepared a fresh batch on the spot. It's a testament to the personalized and accommodating service that adds a special touch to the dining experience. Even with the menu change, this place remains one of my favorite spots to grab lunch in the circle. The enduring deliciousness of the food and the warm hospitality make it a go-to destination, and I look forward to many more satisfying visits in the future.

Been here a handful of times already. It’s an okay spot but the food isn’t consistent. My pita chips I ordered with my plate today are just plain greasy. Another time, the plate was too salty to enjoy, etc. I tried liking this place since I loved coming to the restaurant before but it’s just not the same. There’s potential but I’d say there are other Mediterranean spots I’d prefer like Pita Pita.

Google
Food was okay there were some items that were not authentic: Greek salad was not fully Greek salad it was a fusion, had romaine lettuce in there didn't have any bell peppers. The chicken was marinated quite well, not very greasy, everything else was wonderful. I especially like the Turkish coffee, though it was a bit pricey. The ambiance was great, service was great.

Ordered the chicken pita which came out completely dry and warped and the pita bread holding it all together just as bad or even worse. Thought I’d give this place a try again because they revamped the joint but it’s honestly no different than it was before. You want real shawarma just head over to Sababa in Anaheim and you’ll taste a flavor explosion of food along with the generosity and kindness of the staff. Side note(has nothing to do with the food): Don’t tell the only 2 people in line “that you need to keep the line moving and not to stand where we are”. The arrogant attitude of the owner is reflective in his subpar food. Owner experience aside if this place made stellar food I’d tell you. Hate being negative but it was funny how the man is entertaining his family and friends behind a roped off section and then walks out of his way to tell us not to stand where we were. You were not gonna get a food review but with that attitude you got one.

My husband wanted to try their Turkish coffee so we thought we'd try this place. Walking in we were greeted by a very nice host. She sat us right away. The whole place is very nice. The ambiance is welcoming and the customer service is Superb. Jordan took our order and we asked for suggestions. He gave us great ideas on what to order since it was our first time here. We started with the hummus and pita bread. It was yummy! I ordered the FABulous salad with chicken Kebab. It was so delicious. My hubby ordered the Lebanese Breakfast and he LOVED it! We really enjoyed our meal and Jordan was AWESOME! We highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to try something different but delicious! We also ordered the Baklava. Omg! SO GOOD!!!

Let me first state that my mother has been coming to this location since the early 80's. My husband and I have been dining here since 2019, so we felt it super fitting to have our rehearsal dinner for our March wedding at Byblos Cafe....and boy were we blown away with everything from the smallest details, like our personalized menus and cute bride and groom drawing, to the delicious food carefully prepared for our occasion. The entire process from start to finish was such a breeze (which is super helpful while planning your entire wedding!) and Susan was a complete dream to work with. The night of was filled with wedding day anxiety and such, but we were able to unwind with family and friends and enjoy a meal with wonderful food, incredibly thoughtful and friendly staff members, and even a special Turkish coffee reading for me (the bride :). So, if you are thinking of a cute, long time family owned (I still consider this a family ran business after hearing all the stories that night!) right in the heart of Old Towne Orange, look no further than Byblos Cafe. They will treat you like family and create for you an experience you'll never forget!

Yelp
I had the loaded french fries at Baba G during their opening week. The restaurant is beautiful inside and is laid out wonderfully the food is fresh, seed oil free, made to order and absolutely delicious. I can't wait to go back and try the burger that's next on my list.!! Cheers!

Yelp
If you like Cava, you'll love Baba G! My wife and I were regular visitors at Byblos, so we were a bit skeptical of the transition to this fast casual version. Now, I think I like it even more. The create your own bowl option is the way to go. The chicken shawarma and koobideh are perfectly cooked/seasoned and super tender. After picking a protein, you get to choose 4 toppings and add 2 sauces for $18. Bowl was pretty massive, so I took half home for later. Service was exceptional too. The staff took time to explain the menu, checked in to see how we liked the food, and even got us a to-go box before we even had to ask. Great food with great service at a great price.

Yelp
I love the new concept on this place quick convenient and excellent quality food 10 star for the place and crew. Quality is price less , Definitely this is the new spot for me Hamburger is excellent .

Yelp
Incredible food, even better service. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you for keeping the Byblos vibe alive with a new and refreshed look. All we need is the lentil soup.

Yelp
Great Mediterranean food! Chicken shawarma and filet mignon were tender and flavorful. All the topping options were good. Note: the chickpeas are jawbreakers. The Za'atar Labneh is BOMB definitely try it. Portions are big, but it is a bit pricey. Nowadays what isn't though? Check it out if you're in the area!

Yelp
I made my own bowl with Baba's chicken breast, chicken Shawarma, and beef filet mignon, some feta cheese, cucumbers, the spicy hummus and the hot sauce. It was delicious. The service was impeccable with a smile and fast. The ambience is your typical sit down, fast casual restaurant but it's on a beautiful street with a lot of other restaurants with a bustling sidewalk life, don't miss this place. It's definitely worth a trip .....oh and they have ice cream - Soft Serve ....they just got it and it's delicious. It's seed oil free.
google avatar

Yelp
Very unsatisfied with the bowl chicken was very dry like it's been sitting out for a while. Rice tasted like sushi rice and was very dry. The hummus was very bitter and I got a spicy one and they put like a chili oil sauce on it which was very weird and the pita bread was dry and Not tasteful at all no flavor. Not find this place again. Service is very great. The people there were very helpful.

Yelp
Baba G's food is delicious! As a former customer of Byblos, I truly love good Mediterranean cuisine. Baba, G's, is a fast healthy version of the former restaurant. It's delicious with the Same Great, Service!

Yelp
Baba G's new fast casual concept is my new favorite place to go! Quick, convenient, and full of flavor. You order at the counter, pick a seat, and your food is brought to you in to go containers. Ordering is simple: Step 1: Choose your protein - I went with the chicken shawarma (so good!). Step 2: Pick your toppings - I chose tomato, sumac onion, cucumber, and Arabic pickles. Step 3: Add your sauces - I went with hummus and tzatziki, both packed with flavor. Everything was delicious, but the sumac onion, chicken shawarma, hummus, and tzatziki really stood out. Fresh, bold, and super satisfying. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Fresh, healthy, and quick. Been a couple of times already since they opened. Forgot to grab picture the first time. Had the baba wrap with filet and it was great. This time went with a salad added the chicken breast. Filling salad. Added the hummus side and it was a huge portion, I highly recommend ordering extra pita because it's enough for a couple servings. This place is similar to a Luna Grill but in my opinion much better food. This is perfect for that spot in between fast food and a sit down dinner. I could see a lot of work lunches or when you need a healthy quick bite or take out.

Yelp
Sooo yummy! Great service and delicious fresh food. I'll definitely be coming back! Love the new design and menu items!

Yelp
Great tasting food!! Friendly service, clean restaurant and restrooms. Portions are nice and filling. Highly recommend this new restaurant. The best part is the reasonably priced 100% SEED OIL FREE food. It is hard to find a place that is 100% seed oil free.

Yelp
Not really impressed with the food at all. The two stars is for the service. As far as the food goes, it was not good at all. I had the chicken shawarma which had too much cumin and turmeric. I don't think I will go back since there are so many great Mediterranean restaurants around.

Lisa M.

Yelp
Wow, absolutely delicious! What I appreciate the most is that the chicken tastes like chicken, not an over marinated saline chicken from a bag. I'm also really happy with how good I feel after eating there, clean ingredients and good for you food. I can tell the kitchen staff cares about what they are serving. Location is perfect for a day of shopping and eating.

Yelp
Baba G is FANTASTIC! We loved everything on the menu. Healthy, delicious, and a long-time treasure in Orange! Try the cauliflower! The humus! The chips!

La R.

Yelp
Baba G catered lunch for my committee. The food was not only abundant but delicious. Everyone raved about how good everything was. We had chicken, rice cauliflower and salad. There was an assortment of hummus, tzatziki and the most amazing pita chips! The cauliflower was perfect and the chicken, both white meat and dark was tender and everything seasoned just right. We ordered food for 10 people but there was enough for twice that many. Thanks Baba G

Jordan P.

Yelp
The food was delicious and the ordering process was very organized and a simple process. The service was amazing and the employees were very welcoming and attentive. The setting of the newly designed layout was refreshing and fits perfectly with the new layout of the quick service format. All of this along with the fact that the owner Tim is making a concerted effort to make everything fresh and healthy without sacrificing the quality that Byblos Cafe was so well known for. The menu is 99% seed oil free to top it all off! Give it a try and you won't regret it!

Cathy N.

Yelp
Love, love, love! It's about time - SO happy we finally have a seed oil free eatery in the Orange circle! We had the chicken wrap and fries - both were fantastic and the garlic sauce is addicting. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming - we loved everything about it and can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Where do I start with Baba G?! OMG!!!! The food, the service and the ambiance was SO amazing!! Timmy the manager and Tim the owner (who's carrying on his family legacy with a twist to make it his own) are great, warm, welcoming and attentive as well as the rest of the staff. And the FOOOD, OMG! It is SO hard to find not only delicious, fresh food (because EVERYTHING is made in house) but something that's healthy and health conscious. They cook with seed free oil, they use avocado oil and it just so happens to be vegan friendly. They also source their hard seltzer and beer locally. This place is truly a GEM & A MUST TRY!!! You won't regret it! For reference I got the falafel wrap and the fries with cauliflower, let me tell you *chefs kiss* I'm telling everyone I know about them! I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
I love this place... not only the food WHEN I eat it but AFTER I have it I love how I feel. You can TASTE the quality with the no seed oils, its incredible they care so much to spend MORE money for our health. Baba G is a place I will come back to over and over again - so happy to have it close to my work!

Alexa L.

Yelp
Great ambience, friendly workers and food came in fast and tasted delicious! Will be coming back soon.

Amara L.

Yelp
Food was amazing I 10/10 recommend!! I got the loaded fries with deep fried cauliflower love love love.
google avatar

Matt M.

Yelp
Food came out quick, chicken Shawarma was juicy and delicious, I had it on top of the Greek salad, it's my new favorite.

Vix F.

Yelp
Came here a while back when it was still the original owner. Did not come back for a long time because the food was unfortunately just not that good. Like the passion left their kitchen. They changed owners and the vibe and the food is amazing. Best falafel. I'm picky and I absolutely love it. Fresh herby tzatziki too ! Timmy (the janitor ) made the visit just that much better with his hospitality. Thank you !

Finn P.

Yelp
Some of the best Mediterranean style food I've ever had. Clean, simple ingredients and a cozy atmosphere. Shoutout to Tim for improving what was already a delicious restaurant.

Scott C.

Yelp
My favorite restaurant in the Orange Circle! Great food and reasonably priced. I love this place
google avatar

Erin M.

Yelp
I hate to write a bad review, and we really wanted to like this place, but this was not good. My husband got the loaded fries and they were fine at best. My pita wrap was so dry that it felt like biting into cardboard. The pita also was stale. The chicken again was fine at best and the toppings were minimal. We will not be returning and will be going elsewhere for our Mediterranean.

Yelp
First time here. I really enjoyed the food. Had the baba burger. I know what you are thinking but was great. Only wish had a some cheese available. We also had the Baba wrap which was excellent. Staff was friendly and explained the different choices. Just wish I would have taken some pictures. Sorry but will be going back. Thank you Baba G.

Yelp
We are very excited Baba G's is now open! My family stopped in and the food was amazing. Everything was fresh, tender, and serving sizes were impressive. Our food came out quick and we had a nice table to enjoy. Outdoor patio is also open for seating which was great! Staff was very friendly and upbeat. We will be going back very soon.

Megan B.

Yelp
Quick. Easy. And Delicious! Little pricey for take out but worth every penny and more. Have gone to Byblos for years and so glad to see they are carrying on the amazing flavors just with a different concept and beautiful new ambiance. We really do love Baba Gs
google avatar

Candice C.

Yelp
Sorry to say but this place was very disappointing compared to the previous restaurant. I walked expecting to be seated at a table, only to find out it is takeout. If you choose to eat there, the food is brought in a black plastic container with plastic utensils. The food I received was barely warm and just okay. On top of that the food was quite expensive for the quality. The environment was very sterile and plain; there was no character like there was before. Sorry BaBa G but this ain't it.

Yelp
We love Baba G! There's not a better spot in downtown Orange for quality, healthy food that tastes this amazing. For many years our family went to Byblos, the former version of this restaurant--and they have managed to capture its quality food, great atmosphere and hometown charm and warmth with this new fast casual version. Great food, great service and great owners (Tim Mashi). Ps the fries will change your life.

Marcus H.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place since I frequented the previous restaurant, Byblos, all the time. Unfortunately Baba G's needs to figure it out because they have some Problems. I picked up food for my fiance and I and the portions were much smaller than Byblos. each plate was $17-$18 and they gave us 7 pieces of bite sized chicken in each entree. That's whatever (I guess) but just a warning to everyone, the portions are tiny. I called the restaurant to let them know I wasn't happy with the portion size. That's where things went downhill fast.I told them I was taken back with the size and a bit bummed. They didn't seem to care at all and just said, ok and.... It was all around an awful experience and like I said, this is coming from someone who went to Byblos probably 25 times. Would not recommend.

Anna K.

Yelp
Super sad to say the remodel lost virtually all the original charm and menu of the family-owned restaurant. Food is still pretty good, but the entire menu is different and is now more of a build-your-bowl restaurant rather than a sit-down cozy vibe. I used to come here ALLLL the time with friends and family; it was a staple whenever I wanted to eat in Orange! But after one visit to check out the renovations.. I can't say I'll be back. Staff was nice enough, but it was clear the priority shifted to make the meals in to-go portions and keep the customers flowing rather than attentive service, curating an enjoyable meal, and providing an atmosphere. And with the bowls being $18 I'd definitely rather go to Chipotle or Cava. It's shifted from family-owned, personal, and cozy to what looks like another chain with insane prices. Heartbroken!!

Shaelyn D.

Yelp
Food is amazing, service is amazing as well very respectful and friendly, the food came out fast and it was so delicious!

Gregg W.

Yelp
We've been coming to Byblos in downtown Orange for 30 years. The recent change absolutely nails it. Fresh healthy Mediterranean food very reasonably priced. A wonderful addition to the circle in Orange.

Dre L.

Yelp
Disappointed in the loaded fries. Would not recommend for a first try. The esthetics of the place look nice

Amanda G.

Yelp
Baba G's is absolutely delicious! We used to go to Byblos (previous restaurant) and Baba G's is still a part of the Byblos family just a different dining experience. We ordered the Greek salad and added chicken ( very tender and juicy), the baba wrap ( with filet- flavorful), and the loaded fries ( a generous and filling serving). This is healthy fresh food at a great price point. You can't go wrong. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and the service was prompt. We sat in the back patio which is shaded and has cute lighting. It's was a very pleasant atmosphere. We will be back!

Dana S.

Yelp
Food was delicious and tasted so fresh. Service was quick and Timmy was so friendly and accommodating. Will definitely be back!

Fraser M.

Yelp
This new fast casual place is sooo good!! Really fresh, tasty healthy ingredients. No seed oils is a huge plus. My favorite is the beef wrap and stuffed grape leaves. Delicious! The staff are greet. Really pretty space too. Like the patio in the back.

Jane A.

Yelp
So happy that Baba G is now open! I love the fresh food and the new concept- its a healthier option, delicious, fast and easy to order!

Landon M.

Yelp
Very clean and neat atmosphere with awesome staff. Kennedy greeted me with a smile on her face! The food came out fresh and hot. The chicken shawarma was extremely tender and juicy. Great portion sizes as well. Will be back!
