Came here on the recommendations of a friend and a salesperson at the nearby shopping area. We opted for the quaint pleasant outdoor seating. Service was very friendly. Food was excellent. One of my best meals in Rome. My partner was somewhat less enthusiastic but still enjoyed the meal. The restaurant provided us complimentary small bowl of soup. Don’t know what was in it but it was delicious. I wanted to lick the bowl. It was better than seafood soup we subsequently ordered. Fried anchovies appetizer was flavorful. I was initially leery of these types of fish, but I ate every bit. The lamb chops were tender and delicious. I wanted to gnaw on the bones! Spiced seafood soup was loaded with fish and shrimp. Very good. Pasta was a bit on the salty side.

The courtyard is beautiful and has great atmosphere for a romantic night. The service was attentive and helpful but not overwhelming. Most importantly, food is very delicious! Price is a little higher but reasonable for the quality of food and service. In my opinion, the perfect place to impress your date.

At the end of the sweetest little street is Babette. A hidden gem. Impeccable service, pretty decor, and delicious food. Don’t skip the homemade bread. So flavorful. They served it with complimentary soup. Creamy and yummy. There is a large selection of soups, and this made me want to go back for a big bowl. Loved the burrata and anchovy ravioli. One suggestion is to omit the toasted bread on top. It took away from the lusciousness of these pillows of heaven. The sea bass was decent, but i didn’t care for the citrus sauce. Tasted like a base of coconut milk that was unexpected and not in a good way. All was forgiven with the signature Babette cake. Save room for this. Amazing! Warm, lemony, creamy, just perfect.

I would come back again in a heartbeat. Everything was amazing. The food was delicious and the cocktails were so good! The waiter we had was friendly and funny too. The atmosphere was cozy and romantic. I loved it here and really recommend it.

Friends told us to go to Babette and so glad they did! Nestled off of a small street, the elegant ambiance and warm atmosphere are highlights of a wonderful evening that features great service and even better food. Our dinner was delicious. The Sea Bass was bursting with flavor. Everything ordered was presented beautifully. The staff and the owner came to our table make sure everything was perfect. I Highly recommend this wonderful dining experience.

We came here based on a recommendation and we’re so happy we did! We started with a basket of handmade bread from the restaurant — it was excellent and came with a nice variety. My wife ordered the spaghetti with three raw tomato sauce and basil — it was amazing. The blend of flavors was fresh and perfectly balanced. I had the Raviolini Ripieni di Stracciatella di Bufala e Crema al Tartufo Bianco. I’m not exaggerating when I say it was either the best or one of the best ravioli I’ve ever had. The lingering taste of the truffle after each bite was superb. They also brought us a small portion of soup on the house, which was a lovely gesture. It was a hot day in Rome, but the soup wasn’t overly warm — just right. The restaurant is located in a very charming area — I recommend walking along the street just outside. If I return to Rome, I’ll definitely be coming back to try other dishes!.

Yelp
Highly recommended by the concierge at the hotel. He was able to make reservations and it was such a nice evening. Babette is a charming restaurant located on Via Margutta near Piazza del Popolo. A warm welcoming ambiance with both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor courtyard is surrounded by olive trees. Service from start to finish was flawless. Babette serves a mix of Italian and Mediterranean dishes using fresh seasonal ingredients. Branzino In Guazzetto Di Pomodorini - Sea Bass cooked in a cherry tomato light sauce and served with Potatoes And Snow Peas. It was delicious. The fish was sweet and the tomatoes melted in your mouth. This is one of those special places that not only offers delicious food but the owner / chefs creativity and imagination will leave you smiling and so happy you had a reservation.

Yelp
Second night in Rome, and after almost a week here of eating the wonderful dishes of Italy, it was nice to find a proper French restaurant located near the city center. It was a very short walk from our hotel in Prati and absolutely worth every step. Upon arrival, because we did not have reservations we were sat in the area closer to the kitchen, however quickly seated and warmly greeted. Service was impeccable, expeditious, and with warm smiles and love from entry to exit. For you, Americans and other English speakers, their staff is not only fluent in English, but their accents, were almost so natural that you would think they all have lived in the states for a while. Now let's talk about the food. They normally say don't judge a book by its cover, but everything from the entrance to the decor, to the amount of time they spent beautifying their menus, accurately predict what you can expect from the food. I decided to go with the pesto soup, as well as the lamb. The lady went with an Italian dish I believe the beef fettuccine. And yes, I stole some off that plate to make sure I tried everything and it was spectacular. As for the French cuisine that I had; savory and flavorful. Warm and gratifying are not strong enough words describe the homerun that we hit tonight. Add this to the list of restaurants that I will always go to whenever I visit Rome from now on. Thank you for the wonderful experience and phenomenal food Babette chef and staff. Hope to see you again soon. Mk

Yelp
We enjoyed a lovely meal at Babette. Just a short walk from Piazza del Popolo. We made a reservation which is suggested as it gets very busy. We sat outside in a courtyard setting under umbrellas. The service from start to finish was fantastic. The hostess, servers and everyone at the restaurant were attentive, welcoming and friendly. The waiters answered questions and offered suggestions for wine pairing that were perfect. They were gracious and polite. Our food was served hot and delicious. The Flan Di Zucca Con Cuore Di Cipolla Fondente E Crumble Di Amaretto was so light and flavorful with a delicious aroma of onion and pumpkin. The Chef offered a complimentary tasting of a potato and truffle soup that was creamy and tasty. We ordered the Tortiglioni Con Zucchine, Zafferano, Pesto Al Basilico, Pistacchi Ed Erbe Aromatiche. Which is Pasta With Zucchini, Saffron, Pistachio And Basil Pesto With Aromatic Herbs and it was delicious, each pasta tube filled with the delicious sauce came through layer by layer on the palette. We also had the Costoletta Di Agnello Prè-Salè Al Calvados E Timo Prè-Salè which were Lamb Cutlet Chops With Calvados And Thime Sauce. Again delicious and oh so tender. Our drinks were perfect, from the cocktails to the wine . The meal was complete with coffee and tiramisu. We enjoyed Babette and look forward to return. There is seating inside and out with a warm and inviting vibe, for date night or out with friends and family. You will enjoy a memorable meal at this lovely restaurant.

Yelp
Ambiance was great. Friendly staff. The food was only a 4 star. I wanted to like it more.

Yelp
Fantastic food and amazing service. Their ravioli with anchovies was incredible and perfectly complemented the other food. GO! You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
We were seated by the owner in the courtyard out back. It was a great place from the second we walked in. Very inviting and welcoming. I really appreciated that fact. We began by ordering some wine and the meat board . The meats were alright i wanted the prociutto to be a little thinker but that's just being picky. I ordered the risotto which the waitress did explain that it was little fried rice cakes to which I said was fine. I think after getting them i would have changed it to something else but i wanted to try them either way. It came with a white truffle puree in the middle. I then got the best thing I've eaten since coming on vacation this time. The veal wellington. It just melted in my mouth. I literally have never tasted anything this amazing before and probably won't ever again. The flavor was just right . The vegetables were a little add on and i wish the little balls of potatoes had been something different but that's totally fine . If you come to Rome you have to come here

Yelp
Excellent foods and service for english speakers Ate there and had wines by the glass recommended by waiter to pair with foods ordered. It was delicious! Dessert s were spectacular

Yelp
Found Babette through yelp and it did not disappoint. No reservation but they sat us immediately and what a meal! I had pesto pasta and my wife had the filet and we both agreed they were the highlight of our 3 week trek through Italy. Service, wine, ambiance all amazing.

Yelp
Amazing restaurant!!! Everything from the look, service (impeccable, everyone is very friendly), the bread alone, and of course the pasta was absolutely amazing. We went for lunch and they had the perfect sizes to enjoy before going back out onto the streets of Rome. Could not say more amazing things. 10/10 recommend during your stay!

Yelp
The food and service are excellent. The thought that has gone into the food and it's peroration is outstanding. The staff are friendly and efficient. It really does feel that it is working to a standard that hasn't been truly appreciated. Just by tightening up on a couple of small areas this restaurant could achieve a Michelin star.

Don G.

Yelp
Well basically everything is beyond anything we've had so far in Rome. Service was actually good, very good, but by far the best food we had on the entire trip. The lamb Wellington and scallops were beyond expectations. Would love to try the rest of the menu. Atmosphere is true Italian.

Megan W.

Yelp
Very nice and upscale restaurant in a cool neighborhood. We got there around 8ish on a Saturday and was able to get seated right away without a reservation. Definitely a bit fancier than the other places that we ate during this trip and I would highly recommend the truffle items on the menu. We were given a potato truffle soup as a free appetizer which was really good. We ended up ordering the pesto pasta which I thought was pretty decent and the truffle ravioli which was absolutely AMAZING. I would come back for the ravioli only. Dessert was also good - we got the lava cake.

Dorothy P.

Yelp
Food was fresh and delicious and service was outstanding. They were very accommodating for my gluten allergy. The cocktail menu/wine list was extensive and excellent. Their patio is off the street and very quiet and quaint. Avoid the tourist trap restaurants and dine at Babette where the prices are also reasonable. We will definitely be returning. Reservations recommended.

Yelp
We had a wonderful experience at Babette. Greeted by the owner and escorted to the beautiful courtyard dining area. The service was outstanding. The food was simply amazing. The chef provided a cold potato soup. We shared the Buratta cheese starter which was delicious. The fettuccini ragu and branzino were to die for!

Yelp
We had the first reservation of the night in this warm, spectacular restaurant. On our first night of our 12 day vacation I selected Babette. After our visit to the Borghese gallery we decided to walk to dinner. Upon arriving a bit early at the restaurant the owner Flora let us know we could come back at 7:30pm. We explored the wonderful shopping in this area close to Piazza Popolo and even better was the tree lighting. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. The food was spectacular and the service was what would be expected in the top Michelin star restaurants. The staff catered to our every need. When we asked about a Shirley Temple drink for my son they found and showed us the recipe they would follow, and it was the best one I have ever tasted. We had four courses on this night. We had an anti pasta platter, soups, veal Wellington, risotto and more. I can't wait to return. If I could have eaten each meal here I would have been thrilled. Put this on your list for your next trip to Rome. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
We literally stumbled upon Babette while on a walking tour of Rome, thanks to Yelp. It will forever live in my family's memory as the greatest meal we had in Europe. What a treat! Wonderful ambience, AMAZING food, great wine, Roman water, exemplary service, and the honor of meeting the owners, who stopped by our table to welcome us. When we return to beautiful Rome, we will be sure to visit our new friends at Babette.

Yelp
Great spot! We came for lunch and got a table without a reservation, but generally I think they are recommended here. The eggplant timbale was delicious. Excellent service. Would have left 5 stars, but we were charged for bread that never came to the table. Would still definitely go back though.

Yelp
We stayed at Via Margutta and ate at Babette's for breakfast and dinner several times. Never disappoints! Food and service was excellent! The dishes are very good and priced reasonably. Craving a steak instead of some pasta, Babette's is the place to go! Great eggs and crispy bacon for breakfast. The butter and jelly are like dessert. Our favorite place to eat, especially in the area.

Yelp
Ahhhmazing!! Everything about this restaurant was top notch (even the delicious breads) We made a reservation the day before and were seated in the courtyard. Everything about this restaurant was inviting and welcoming. All of the food was homemade. Great wine selection. Was in our top 2 meals in Italy, best in Rome. Go here.

Yelp
Lovely dinner in the courtyard. Food and service was great! Called ahead for reservation to ensure we could get in.

Yelp
Tucked away in quiet corner of a busy district, Babette boasts a nice indoor seating area and a wonderful courtyard open to the elements. Service is excellent and the menu has many tasty options for most eaters. The cocktails are amazing! Highly recommended!!!!

Q T.

Yelp
Lovely restaurant with wonderful service. The setting is intimate & charming. I dined her for brunch and dinner. The cocktails are divine. Also they cooked the duck perfectly. Highly recommend.

Yelp
The last dinner we had in Italy was here. We had had two weeks of amazing food and dining experiences and this was absolutely top of the list. Secluded on a side street yet easy to find. Upon entering it feels more as though you are stepping into someone's private environment. Charmingly cluttered with art and books the space was cozy yet did not feel as though fellow diners were joining your table. Everything about the menu was delicious to consider, making it hard to decide. But in the end, neither of us had any regrets of our choices. An interesting taste treat arrived as an apology from Babette as the kitchen was backed up - an amazing cup of creamed potato and white truffle soup. It was nothing short of sublime. From the bread basket to the desserts nothing missed the high notes of fine food. The entire meal, the setting and the service were absolutely stellar. Can't wait to return.
google avatar

Josh R.

Yelp
The food here is really good, but it's on the pricier side. The outdoor seating in the back is the way to go. The service is great as well. I would say this place is a little more formal than other restaurants in Rome.
google avatar

Daniel G.

Yelp
We came here after attending Sunday Easter Mass at the Vatican and it was the perfect place to have our brunch. We made a reservation, but unfortunately it was somehow lost. The owner was able to seat us anyway and we had a great meal! Cocktails were amazing and the courtyard was a very nice place to spend an afternoon.

Yelp
Highly recommend the Babette cake! Atmosphere (4 stars): nice interior patio courtyard that is a fine setting for a meal. As this is an interior courtyard, there is sadly no view. Food: (4): ravioli and the Babette cake were the standouts. I'd eat here again for the Babette cake alone. Wine/cocktails (4): nice selection with good recommendations from our server. Service (4): good, attentive service with helpful recommendations.

Yelp
A restaurant located close to the Spanish stairs in Rome. It's a big restaurant with a nice ambience and service was good. They also have a great wine list and some of the staff spoke English. I am giving it three stars only because the quality of the food was average. The shares starters were ok and my main of steak really lacked seasoning and a bit chewy. I asked for it medium rare and it came out medium well. It really had no flavour and there was nothing to soak it up, just a steak on a plate. We were served a dessert variation which was huge and most of us could not finish dessert, rarely happens with me :-) Wine list is great and they have some nice well priced wines. Service was good and staff were plenty but attention to detail was a bit low. We did wait a while for the food to come out. All in all an ok experience I would not rush to repeat.

Yelp
Great location that is very close to Piazza Popolo. Food and service were perfect. Especially enjoyed the Veal Wellington. Perfect ending to a perfect trip.

Babak S.

Yelp
I'm really surprised this restaurant has 4.5 stars. The ambiance and location are outstanding. The service is also excellent. However, the food is mediocre at best. We had a variety of dishes ranging from soup (very average) to pasta with pesto (bland) and ravioli with cheese (extremely oily and bland) to beef Wellington (over cooked), lamb (bland with a generic reduction sauce) and a beef dish that also was bland. The wine list is nice and the prices are reasonable. Overall, I don't think this place is worth the cost though and I don't think I'll come back.

Yelp
We showed up about 30 minutes before closing after a long day of doing tourist activities. We were looking for a good place for food and drinks to wind down the evening. Walked in and asked if it was too late and they said absolutely not. They sat us right away. The wait staff both were great from their food recommendations to the wine recommendations to what to do on our adventure to other parts of Italy. Both spoke English and were a delight to speak to and interact with. The food was amazing as well and even the chef stopped by on her way out to make sure everything was good for us. I cannot recommend this place enough. Great atmosphere, great food, and great people.

Joe H.

Yelp
We got in without an appointment due to the kindness of the owner. Outstanding dinner. Bread basket had 4 different types of bread - very good. Started with cream of potato soup - very nice. Had the ginger chickpea soup - my wife loved it, meh for me. Main course - pesto tortellini in a light red sauce. Great balance of contrasts. Very light yet wonderful flavor - be prepared to lick the plate. Had duck breast in orange sauce with pistachios. PERFECTLY cooked and flavorful duck. Only SLIGHT disappointment was the orange sauce - it was very muted, was expecting a bright bitter orange sauce. Nice balance overall though. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! Make an appointment- saw 8 other couples turned away.

Yelp
This was a cute restaurant with mostly an older crowd and quiet vibes. We sat in the large patio out back. Service was attentive enough but we thought the food was good but not great. We started with their version of a caprese with a rich tomato sauce instead of raw tomatoes (this was my favorite thing that night). We also had 3 different pastas and a pork entree. Prices were definitely tourist level. I can't remember which pastas we had because none really stood out. The pork dish was pretty To look at but didn't elicit any of the "mmms" and "ohhhhs" I would normally expect from a well cooked piece of pig. Anyway, if you're looking for a quiet spot to relax, this is a good one. If not, I'd visit another one of the many similar spots in the area.

Bryn S.

Yelp
What a courtyard! Beautiful setting. Simple but excellent food! A very, very romantic place!

Yelp
My daughter introduced us to this place. And she was introduced by our cousin who lives in Rome. So we felt like this one was a pretty safe bet. Feels like a French cafe, we ate in the courtyard. FRIED ANCHOVIES (4/5) These were delicious with a squeeze of lemon, but I had them the other day at another restaurant where they were served un-fried, just with lemon. I prefer them not fried, but I'll take anchovies anyway I can. I've come to love them by way of this trip. SALMON APPETIZER (5/5) Little squares of delicately cooked salmon, dressed up with raisins and some other garnishes. There was an aioli of some kind drizzled over the plate that was a great compliment to the fish. Great idea for an appetizer for a dinner party. VEAL CUTLETS (4/5) 3 or 4? round breaded cutlets served with some arugula and cherry tomatoes. Underneath was a delicious sauce that resembled a tartar sauce with some egg in it. Everything went so well together. I prefer the cutlets pounded thinner, but they were fine, just my preference. HOUSE MADE SPAGHETTI W/TOMATO SAUCE (5/5) My wife loved this so much that she said it's "one of the best pasta dishes she's ever had". It was oh so simple, just an orangey tomato sauce, but it really hit home for her. I thought it was very good, but I didn't obsess over it. Our waitress was sweet and hospitable. The desserts were distinctive and very good. There was a Pistachio Tart and two others - a very delicate Ricotta Cheesecake and an Apple Tartine. We finished them all, despite feeling stuffed, and I remember all of them being of high quality. I can tell this is a reliable restaurant to get some of the Italian classics, along with some innovative twists on the traditional. If we were here longer, this would probably be a place that we would return for a repeat to further explore the menu.

Yelp
Fantastic spot in the center of Rome. Excellent food, excellent atmosphere. You need a reservation. Somewhat expensive but worth every penny

Yelp
Amazing place the duck and the Wellington was sooo good we also had the ribeye and penne pasta, if we are ever back in Rome this will be on of our stop!!! A must!!! Make sure you make reservations as they do book up!

Yelp
One of the best Rome restaurants we went to. Buffalo mozzarella/tomatoes. Pasta ravioli. Dessert and cafe. We went back there for their chocolate dessert. Amazing!

Yelp
This was the best food we had in Rome. I did a Google and Yelp search for the best restaurants in Rome and this came up as the place to be. We booked a reservation for Easter Sunday and had no problems getting in. I definitely recommend a reservation though because every table had a reserved sign on it. The service was great and we made sure to get the full experience with a bottle of wine, appetizer, pasta, meat, and dessert. Here are the highlights: The salmon appetizer was great. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the appetizer was light and fresh. The gnocchi was in a roasted red pepper sauce with ricotta cheese and perfectly balanced. The pesto pasta was a home run - not super garlicky and not over the top on the pistachios. The highlight of the main courses was the beef filet. It was divine. The caramelized onions with the chive sour cream and the meat was an unbeatable combination. As for dessert, the pistachio tart was incredible and the chocolate lava cake was creamy and fluffy. We were so stuffed when we left, but it was worth it. Everything about this place was amazing. It is in the heart of the city, just off of the Piazza de Poppolo and has a nice intimate atmosphere. You will not be sorry! The prices are higher than most restaurants in Rome. However, you get what you pay for - it is worth it to splurge a little!
google avatar

Yelp
Babette is amazing. We were there for the Saturday lunch buffet. The restaurant is near the Piazza Di Popolo in Rome. The "buffet" was like being at your grandmother's house for Thanksgiving, except with exceptional Italian fare. Large steaming pans of pasta, meats and vegetables served on a long dinner table. We were the only tourists at the restaurant. The courtyard outside was very private and well shaded.
google avatar

Lindsay H.

Yelp
Our first meal in Rome, very close to the Spanish steps and metro stations. Our reservation was honored immediately with a beautiful spot on the spacious patio. Service was speedy and the staff were able to make sense of our limited Italian. We were given bread and complimentary soup and ordered the meatball and pan seared chicken dishes, which came with salad and cheese gnocchi and spinach and spaghetti marinara. The food was fresh and well-presented, but not necessarily unique from Italian that we have eaten in America, nor did the food have any special or authentic flavors. Everything needed a bit more salt but no salt or pepper is placed on the tables in Europe (would feel awful asking). Perhaps the menu in English should have tipped us off but it was tasty nonetheless!
google avatar

Steve B.

Yelp
This really is a delightful spot for a quiet dinner. The service was impeccable, the food tasty and beautifully presented. It will definitely be on the list if we return to Rome. Would recommend reservations and plan to spend a few hours.

Yelp
Great food in Rome! Great Service as well. The raviolis are amazing and the beef Wellington (veal) was to die for. The white chocolate DESSERT is a MUST.

Yelp
Top notch ambiance, service and food. The salt cod ravioli and duck entree were spectacular... Wonderful dinner... A bit french, a bit italian... All good!!

Kimbra O.

Yelp
Don't waste your time any place else!!! Go for dinner, And have the Babette salad, veal Wellington as well as the Pietraregia red wine and you will thank us later. Nothing like it in Rome! Also add the Babette cake for dessert. I PROMISE!

Yelp
Delicious! My husband and I were staying at The Hotel Manfredi and this place was right around the corner. Food was very good, quality was fabulous and the staff was very friendly. It was the perfect dinner for 2. Highly recommend - oh, and if you like interior design, check out the bathroom .
google avatar

Yelp
A very nice experience Odd decor ( French bistro meets faux industrial) however the service was quite attentive ( which is not always case in places we've been in Rome) and food was excellent and good size portions: Appetizer was fried anchovies Fennel salad with black olives Beef filet very nicely prepared My wife had ravioli with "cottage cheese" ( which is ricotta) with dried tomatoes : very good but a rich sauce Desserts looked awesome but did not have room to try them ( did have complimentary cookies with glass of grappa) Bill was € 76 including bread basket and bottled water

Yelp
We stumbled into Babette after one of those vacation mishaps that will make a good story in a few years but had left us exhausted. We expected the kindly looking hostess to tell us there was no room for us (it was 8 pm on a Saturday night), but she sat us right down. This was the third restaurant we had eaten at in Rome and, by far, the best. We started off with the burrata, lentil soup and a pasta dish. The burrata was exquisite and the lentil soup was as close to homemade as possible. I didn't try the pasta, but my husband and daughter loved it. The duck and veal Wellington were also delicious. All the servings were extra large and the food was hardy without being overdone. The service was impeccable and atmosphere was warm. I'd definitely return here and recommend it to my friends traveling to Rome.

Diane G.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and food This is a great find. The food was very good with a nice variety of choices. My husband said his fish entree was one of the best he had ever had. I had pasta which also was very good. Wonderful chocolate cake for dessert. Atmosphere is very nice, beautiful outside area. Definitely would return!

Yelp
Such an amazing atmosphere and the food quality is top notch! I was recommended this place by a man in Venice and he was raving about it so I was determined to go. The service was impeccable. We didn't have time to sit around and soak it all in so I'll definitely be back with an empty stomach and free schedule!
