The MICHELIN Guide Latvia 2025: All The Winners

"Having only opened in summer 2024, BABO was set up by a pair of experienced restaurateurs – and it’s one owner’s home country of Georgia that informs the menu. It’s split between two rooms and a smart terrace, with the main room housing a pizza oven – where the delicious breads are cooked – as well as a charcoal grill which adds a lovely flavour to the various meats and fish. The Michelin Inspectors loved this different style of cuisine and suggest ordering two dishes each to share – their favourites include the beef and pork khinkali (dumplings); the salmon in bazhe (walnut) sauce; and the chicken tabaka with salt and lemon. The superb wine list showcases a great mix of classic and modern Georgian wines to accompany the cooking." - The MICHELIN Guide UK Editorial Team

Absolutely phenomenal – a gem! We had dinner at Babo Restaurant and were absolutely blown away! The Georgian food was outstanding – full of flavor, beautifully presented, and so authentic. Every single dish was a highlight, from the starters and fresh bakery items to the hearty mains and delicious dessert. The service was incredibly warm, attentive, and made us feel right at home. And the best part? The price! We were three people, had starters, bakery, main courses, and dessert – and paid only €66 in total. Amazing value for such high-quality food and service. An absolute must-visit – we’ll definitely be back!

What a wonderful experience! BABO serves an unforgettable mix of traditional Georgian food with a modern twist, stylish and fresh premises and top-shelf service. Everything we ate tasted heavenly, but an absolute must is the Khinkali, dumplings filled with various magical meats! A special thanks to Nikita, our waiter, for excellent service, tips and suggestions on what we should taste. You were the cherry on the cake!

This place is beautiful! I came for a late lunch with no reservation. Was able to sit on the balcony. My server was really nice and knowledgeable. Since I was by myself, and wanted to try as many things as possible, I was limited on my choices, as some dishes are very heavy and meant to be shared. So, with the help of the server, I ordered the beet salad and mushroom steamed dumplings. Accompanied with a local beer. Food didn't take too long to come out and was fresh and delicious! More than enough food for one.

Chic and tasty, Babo delivers on upscale Georgian fare, in a beautiful setting. They have indoor and outdoor seating, quick service and a calming atmosphere. Cocktails are ok, could use a touch more base, but flavors are yummy; the shashlik, dumplings, classic hacapuri are all deliiiiicious. Don’t miss the watermelon feta salad if they have it! Definitely a place to visit in Riga if you’re looking for something different and tasty. Make sure to make reservations between Thursday-Saturday evenings, this place gets packed.

We walked in around 6pm and were seated fairly quickly outside in the closed off terrace. It was a very windy day and they offered blankets to diners. The restaurant is very rustic and pleasant. Servers were great. The food was amazing. The two items we ordered off their summer menu specials were our favorites (Watermelon salad and a fried duck khinkali). The eggplant roll with walnuts was also phenomenal. Cocktails (lemon pie and tarragon sour) were delicious. We'd love to come back with other friends.

Lovely, inviting and casual atmosphere. The dining area is large and well lit by a combination of natural light from the large windows complemented by rustic light fixtures. Exposed brick, dark wood gives nice tones to the environment. Excellent variety of dishes complimented by a knowledgeable sommelier. Family style dining worked well for our party of 8, giving the opportunity to taste a wide variety of flavours. Very popular at the time, recommend reserving a table ahead. Special thanks to our server Dana for all arrangements and making our visit effortless. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful dinner at BABO, a Georgian restaurant that blends traditional flavors with a modern twist. The décor is incredibly tasteful — a perfect mix of contemporary design and warm, inviting touches. We sat on the terrace, which was lively and atmospheric thanks to the live music playing that evening. We started with two different salads — both were fresh, vibrant, and full of flavor. Then came a seasonal khachapuri with dill and mushrooms, something we’d never tried before. The fragrance from the dill and mushrooms gave it a unique and unforgettable taste — a delightful summer variation. Next, we had khinkali, and honestly, these were the best we’ve had in town. The dough was beautifully elastic, and the broth inside was rich and deeply flavorful. To drink, we had a feijoa compot and a non-alcoholic cocktail that was super refreshing — perfect for a warm summer evening. Special thanks to our waitress, Dana, who truly elevated the experience. She was attentive, warm, and ensured everything went smoothly throughout the night. Highly recommended — we’ll definitely be back!

We came to Riga for a short visit, the restaurant is amazing, we were served by Dana who was lovely, friendly and helped us understand the menus perfectly. The food is delicious, the restaurant atmosphere is great. Definitely recommend and will come back if I can!
