"Having only opened in summer 2024, BABO was set up by a pair of experienced restaurateurs – and it’s one owner’s home country of Georgia that informs the menu. It’s split between two rooms and a smart terrace, with the main room housing a pizza oven – where the delicious breads are cooked – as well as a charcoal grill which adds a lovely flavour to the various meats and fish. The Michelin Inspectors loved this different style of cuisine and suggest ordering two dishes each to share – their favourites include the beef and pork khinkali (dumplings); the salmon in bazhe (walnut) sauce; and the chicken tabaka with salt and lemon. The superb wine list showcases a great mix of classic and modern Georgian wines to accompany the cooking." - The MICHELIN Guide UK Editorial Team

Chic and tasty, Babo delivers on upscale Georgian fare, in a beautiful setting. They have indoor and outdoor seating, quick service and a calming atmosphere. Cocktails are ok, could use a touch more base, but flavors are yummy; the shashlik, dumplings, classic hacapuri are all deliiiiicious. Don’t miss the watermelon feta salad if they have it! Definitely a place to visit in Riga if you’re looking for something different and tasty. Make sure to make reservations between Thursday-Saturday evenings, this place gets packed.

We walked in around 6pm and were seated fairly quickly outside in the closed off terrace. It was a very windy day and they offered blankets to diners. The restaurant is very rustic and pleasant. Servers were great. The food was amazing. The two items we ordered off their summer menu specials were our favorites (Watermelon salad and a fried duck khinkali). The eggplant roll with walnuts was also phenomenal. Cocktails (lemon pie and tarragon sour) were delicious. We'd love to come back with other friends.

Lovely, inviting and casual atmosphere. The dining area is large and well lit by a combination of natural light from the large windows complemented by rustic light fixtures. Exposed brick, dark wood gives nice tones to the environment. Excellent variety of dishes complimented by a knowledgeable sommelier. Family style dining worked well for our party of 8, giving the opportunity to taste a wide variety of flavours. Very popular at the time, recommend reserving a table ahead. Special thanks to our server Dana for all arrangements and making our visit effortless. Highly recommended!

Strong recommendation! A very good menu to eat à la carte with a really convincing Georgian cuisine that, with all my limited knowledge, is authentic. This comes with a very good wine list of Georgian wines as well as wines from worldwide known European wine countries. The staff does a fully convincing and very good job. Special thanks to Dana, who really made my day by recommending just the perfect wine pairing as well as a very delicious dessert as I didn't know it before. Also, I appreciated her professional serving attitude that hit the golden sweet spot of being there for the guest and being invisible after arranging everything. The atmosphere was very relaxed at lunchtime during the week with pleasant music and a low volume. The number of guests was manageable. There are no particular demands on the guests' clothing at this time. I can't say whether it is different at other times. There is also a bar. The toilets are very clean, which I really liked. The Michelin "Bib Gourmand" award is absolutely deserved. Two main courses, a dessert, a tea, a glass of wine and a schnapps on the house for around €55 including tip at this level is absolutely convincing.

I’ve had Georgian food all over the world and this spot was great! I didn’t expect much since it was just built in 2024 but the khinkali was amazing! The only down fall is that the tables are extremely close and we felt like we were on a date with the two tables next to us. Recommend the managers remove one or two tables. Highly recommended A+

We had a late lunch in the terrace, pork ribs and chicken shashlik. The food was delicious, well seasoned with herbs, generous portions and presentable - tasty and pleasant to look at. The restaurant staff is kind and attentive (though a bit forgetful at times). It’s an ideal place for a family or friends gathering.

Nice place. Food and atmosphere amazing. Busy place. I have tasted pork, beef and lamb meet, Vegetarian hinkali and several starters. All was good. Good sauces. Good spicy level The only thing I did not enjoy was tea. Very weak and no taste. Quality wines but might be unusual for people that used for Italian or French wines.

This is not the first time we have been here and every time the food is so delicious. This time the service was top notch. The food is very tasty, bravo to the chef. The interior is pleasant, with a soul. The staff is friendly and helpful. I recommend it.
