Omg omg omg!!! Delicious!!! My friends bought me 3 cupcakes and a cheesecake for my birthday. They were absolutely delicious! Babycakes delivered, so it was a really nice surprise to see them waiting for me. Each flavor was super unique and beautifully decorated. Red velvet, lemon, and a white cake. Such a great gift and you can reply taste the quality in these cakes. Not overly heavy so you feel good after and not super stuffed! Can’t wait to go back now on my own for a special treat or to buy some for a gift!!! Amazing!!!

So this cake was freaking amazing!! I ordered this cake over the phone 450 miles away for my daughters 5th birthday... paid for it and prayed... OMG best cake I ever had im talking good, moist, cute, just everything!!! Thank you guys so much!!! Worth every penny!!! (I added the rainbow myself)

Wheelchair accessible with parking and a ramp up to the building! The employees here are so friendly and wonderful! LGBT+ friendly, of course. Dog friendly, also. They have inside as well as outside seating, and the cupcakes are delicious! They also have drinks (coffees and tea), a few cookies, and muffins. A single cupcake is $4.50, which is reasonable for how beautiful they all are!

If you like cupcakes or want a custom cake baby cakes is a solid place to checkout. They do wedding cakes, cupcakes and mini cupcakes. It’s definitely worth getting in touch with them for custom options before hand. Everything I tried was good and they have a huge selection.

This place is really cute and they have many options for cupcakes and other desserts. They offer coffee and alcoholic beverages. We got the chocolate /peanut butter brownie it was just kind of disappointing because it just was sweet and no flavor of peanut butter.

The first time I discovered Baby Cakes was in 2010. They were at a different location then and at that time had a large selection of these specialty flavored cupcakes. The line was always out the door. After lunch, my family and I stopped by the new location and picked up 3. This is a smaller location with fewer options, but they were delicious!

I couldn't more be happier with my rush order! They made two dozen cupcakes for my daughter's birthday and they were delicious. The cupcakes were huge, moist, flavorful, and beautiful. I highly recommend Babycakes.

Baby Cakes was so good! I got the Lemon Bavarian cupcake, and oh my goodness, it was delicious--I still think about it. As a baker myself, I'm super picky about sweets, but these cupcakes were perfectly balanced--not too sweet, just the right amount of flavor. I'm so happy to have a delicious cupcake shop in my neighborhood, and I can't wait to go back and try more flavors. The shop itself is super cute and has a nice vibe, and the staff was extremely nice and patient while I took a solid 10 minutes to decide (oops!). If you love cupcakes, this place is a must-visit!

Much larger than a typical cupcake, but smaller than a cake. Hence, the name Babycake. Everything is so pretty here, it was hard figuring out what I wanted! Sprinkles: Definitely the most fun to look at! Rainbow frosting, rainbow sprinkles, confetti cake and glitter! Though despite all the flash, it's essentially vanilla on vanilla with a lot of food coloring. But it's still great tasting. Strawberry Tres Leches: Two of my favorite things, in one cupcake. It tastes great, but it's a bit hard to eat in your hands since it's so moist. Maybe better with a fork. Black Bottom: Surprisingly, this may have been my favorite. Love the diversity of flavors with chocolate, cheesecake and raspberry. Keep coming back to this one. Dulce de Leche: While I love dulce de leche, this was a tad disappointing. Not very strong flavor and didn't really notice any dulce de leche bands mixed in.

This place is just as cute as all their cupcakes! I had a hard time picking which ones to try since they all looked soo good. From favorite to least, I tried the Lemon Bavarian (one of the best cupcakes I've ever had in my life), Dulce De Leche (also very good, but a bit too sweet for me), and Chocolate Strawberry Mousse (sadly and surprisingly, I couldn't taste the chocolate pretty much at all. Also, very sweet). I can definitely understand all these positive reviews. I highly recommend this place and cannot wait to try more flavors!

Nice corner location. They have some front row parking so you aren't paying to park or grab a quick dessert which is great. Plenty of flavors to choose from. Lovely presentation but the cupcakes themselves are ok. I suppose I expected more flavor or moist sweet bread but overall a great value for the price. The individual boxing is cute and cleanliness of the location is superb. Would still stop by for more desserts any day.

Cupcakes so good that they'll make you cry. That's all I can really say. They are a bit pricey - but they'll make you cry. The red velvet and anything chocolate is a must. And the vanilla ones - don't forget to grab one of those - and maybe the peanut butter or the Boston Cream - that one made me blink every second from the sugar high. The gentleman behind the counter was awesome with the recommendations. And make sure you grab some tissues because - cupcakes so good they'll make you cry.

Babycakes is innovative flaired flavor. they have flavors like ube, asked caramel chocolate and vanilla. these are rich! tasty treat with so much variety.

Had a hankering after dinner. Moody metal music playing and it was a great vibe. Greeted with a smile and the guy who helped us was great. We had a cake and a cookie and took some of the frosting and put it on the cookie. Amazing.

Red velvet was a bit dry but just as yummy as when I had Babycakes growing up! Tres leches was the winner for sure.

If you're looking for a sweet treat, I highly recommend babycakes in Hillcrest! Besides having one of the most delicious spread of cupcakes, there are alcoholic drinks and coffee! This is a perfect spot to come by after a dinner to hangout with your friends. There's also plenty of seating. Parking can be a little tough but I just parked at a nearby ace parking lot. Service was fast and quick! If you are eating at the bakery, they will also heat up the cupcake a little for you to enjoy in store

Chad was an amazing server. Was very friendly and fun to talk to. Loved the vibe here! Can't wait to come back.

Excellent cupcakes. Actually some of the best. I have gone to several high-end cupcake shops in different cities, and often the cupcakes are on the stale side, have too much frosting that overpowers the cake, or just not that good. We had several cupcakes and loved all of them! The German chocolate is just decadent. The Babycakes is great and probably our favorite. We also loved the Sprinkles, Red Velvet, and Black Bottom. Churro was not one that we enjoyed, but others might. The staff was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The shop was clean and inviting. The cupcakes are a bit pricey, definitely worth it for a nice treat.

PRETTY BUT A LITTLE DRY (3.5 stars) Variety of flavors to choose from. Pretty looking and big in size. But the cupcake reminded me of day old cake. Kind of dry and stale. I take it they remake the cupcakes and they sit behind the glass case until sold or until their shelf life is due, hence a the dryness. GERMAN CHOCOLATE - if you love German cake then this is basically German cake in cupcake form. TRES LECHE - was hoping for a very moist bottom only to have vanilla cake. Until the next review....

Was craving a good matcha that wasn't too sweet. Ordered an iced matcha with half vanilla. It was delicious and not too sweet. Also got this scone that was the perfect texture. The staff member was very friendly and down to earth. :) Price was not terrible especially for the area! Recommend stopping by !

Tres leches cupcake perfection!!! Not too sweet not dry it's a 10/10!!! Perfect to start off my birthday celebration!

Whenever I'm in the area, I can't help but wonder, "do I have time to grab a quick treat?" And I rarely find a reason not to. Always looking to see if they have new limited flavors available and the most recent time I went, I tried one of their tarts for the first time and it was delicious! Good amount of seating inside where you can have a quiet conversation with your company and people watch. Highly recommend to just take a peep inside and I dare you not to order at least a cupcake.

My good gal friend insisted we get a be cupcake for cheat day. Really loved the presentation of these cupcakes they are truly beautiful to look at. I got the salted caramel and I enjoyed it. The icing was very rich but the caramel balances it well.

I always love all the cupcakes from Babycakes , some yes more than others but these Babycakes are delish ! It's a vibe the esthetic although the old location was as well ( they have good taste). The business did move around the corner from where they use to dwell . I found no parking and had to venture over to CVS near by where parking 0-2hrs charge 12$ wowza... Breakdown 5.50$x6 plus tip and parking fee from my wallets point of view these wonderful cupcakes just went up a few dollars to purchase . Ya yes, that's a total drag. I do feel on special occasion it's completely worth it . Lovely selection of so many pretty pretty cupcakes with delicate details deserve to be consumed by everyone . This visit I tried the Dulce De Leche' for me and for the birthday girl some choices were chocolate chocolate mousse , blood orange , lemon & a sprinkles to mention a few . Indoor out door dining so you can enjoy anytime of year . Nice pleasant customer service * bonus* support local brick & mortar whenever possible.

I've been coming to this place for years from their 5th Ave location where I'd purchased 30+ cupcakes before leaving for a long underway period or deployment before I retired from the navy to their 4th Ave location. Not once have I had a bad experience with their customer service or with their cupcakes. They're always full of flavor and have awesome designs. I love that the cupcakes are huge and have a ton of icing . Although I do miss the 5th Ave location because it was much bigger, I don't mind the 4th Ave grab and go. The Red Velvet and Tres Leche are my go to! Absolutely love this place!

Who doesn't love a good ol' cupcake. I do. Some of our go to's are the babycake (marble), Boston cream, red velvet, tiramisu and vanilla. Not a favorite: Pistachio- this one specifically tasted kinda like soap? A few of the people in my family tried it and no one liked it. These cupcakes are on the larger side and rich! It's possible you will not eat it all at once. Overall I can always count on a good selection of cupcakes when entering the Babycakes shop. The Babycakes tale started slightly before 2018 when we choose them to bake our wedding cake. The infamous tres leches wedding cake, people still talk about it. And, even dream about it. Babycakes had and continues to have my upmost esteem. Delicious products, friendly service, and a lot of options. I hope Babycakes remains being a class act for a long time to come. P.s. There is seating inside- although limited.

Food (5/5 stars): While strolling around Hillcrest, we found a cute dessert shop/cafe called Babycakes! I ordered the Chocolate Peanut Butter cupcake but preferred the Pumpkin Tres Leches because it was so moist and flavorful. The peanut butter frosting was so good though. STALE! VERY disappointed! I bought 3 cupcakes and all three were stale. Carrot cake, tres leches and lemon. Watch Out! They apparently just push the stale ones first.

Unfortunately, the cupcake pics look better than they taste. It's too bad that we've ordered a dozen cupcakes because they were a huge disappointment. The frostings tasted decent; however, it didn't completely cover the top of each cupcake. I suppose that the amount of frosting would have been sufficient if the cupcakes weren't dry, 6/10 rating. Créme brûlée cheesecake: this was extraordinary. The caramelized thick sugar crust on top was crispy and went well with the creamy cheesecake, 10/10! I'd order this again. The staff member was kind by giving us a fresh slice of the créme brûlée cheesecake, as opposed to the old ones sitting within the display case. She also recommended the Pecan Bar, which I've already had my eye on, and would have ordered it if we didn't order a dozen cupcakes. Parking was okay, as we were able to find a metered parking spot near the store front. Anyway, I would return for the créme brûlée cheesecake, and I will also have a Pecan Bar.

A+++. Recently picked up a variety of cupcakes for my wife's birthday. The frosting is extremely good but the one thing that should be discussed is the cake part of it- the cake was so moist and flavorful that we feel that people need to know. This cupcake place is probably the best in San Diego county, we've tried just about every spot.

Ok it's time someone is honest about this place. I hate giving small businesses bad reviews because I really do wanna support them, but I also hate wasting money and calories on stale, dry cupcakes. Went in around 7-8pm and the display is full of cupcakes- absolutely no way they're gonna sell them all which means their cupcakes are at least a day or 2 old, if not more. Which explains why they're soo dry, and to make it worse they're also kinda dense. Very little flavor but it was really the texture that bothered me. The red velvet didn't have filling but the Black Bottom had dried up cream cheese- it was cracking and just awful. I'd never return, just because something is sweet doesn't mean it's good. Service was kind and super friendly.

Babycakes never fails to impress my sweet tooth every time I lose my ability to say no-don't stop-buy-Babycakes as it is on my way to work and then back home. Try one today, you will come back just like me.

Good Service Parking available Cute spot Bad Cupcakes are kind of dry I've been to this place twice in my life. Once was of years ago and it was the same thing. The cupcakes are dry and crumbly, unless that is how they are supposed to be. Don't get me wrong, the cupcakes look beautiful, but the taste is not worth it, speaking from the viewpoint of someone who actively seeks out cupcake spots to try.

Sorry, I didn't like the cup. Another reviewer said it best: "they are pretty, but they don't taste good" I found it to be very dense and heavy. I expected light and fluffy. I wish I would've liked it more. The latte was top notch!! The service and atmosphere was great!! See...I told you! (Go back and read my tag line!!

Absolutely loved it all! The lady at the counter was so helpful and patient with us when choosing our cupcakes. She even gave us recommendations for our cravings. The shop was so cute and cozy and the perfect spot to watch the cars pass by while enjoying something yummy to drink. The prices are totally worth it and reasonable. The cupcakes are delicious and the vegan options are incredible! I hope to come back soon!

A lifesaver! I needed gorgeous vegan cupcakes for my best friends birthday party that evening and they had just that! I called ahead to check and the staff helping me that day was so kind and put the cupcakes aside for me so I can pick them up without stress! I got red velvet, salted Carmel, and chocolate flavors for the cupcakes and when I tell you they were THE BEST vegan cupcakes I've had! Still so creamy and moist- everyone was obsessed with them! Also I like how the cupcakes are simple but still so beautiful- I allowed me to decorate them with candles without it looking clashy or messy! I will be back here whenever I need a sweet treat!

The moment I pulled up to the parking lot I couldn't stop saying "omg! this place is so cute!" The building itself is painted in fun colors and the interior has elegant chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. Not only is it inviting, but it matches the personalities of their amazing team too! I was greeted by Chad, who was super helpful in offering me suggestions for the most popular cupcakes. I'm so glad he helped me because the tres leches cupcake is my favorite so far. Presentation is perfect. The cupcakes are not overly sweet. The only thing I would change or ask for is more moisture throughout the entire cupcake. Some parts of the cupcake (directly under the icing) were dry. Other than that, 10 out of 10 recommend supporting this business!

Tried Babycakes for my son's birthday and was really disappointed. The tres leches cupcakes were dry--not what we expected at all, especially for a special day. My son was let down. It almost felt like they put the older cupcakes up front and saved the fresh ones for later. Not a good first impression.

Man, these cupcakes were yummy! The gentleman working was really nice when I came in to pick up a 4 pack of cupcakes for my bfs birthday. All the options looked so good, so it was tough to just pick only 4! The 4 I selected were: SPRINKLE CHOCOLATE FUDGE CHOCOHOLIC CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER They do offer mini options for some of their popular picks. Can't wait to come back to try more flavors. Good size for their prize. I'll easily return here.

It's a small location but they have the best cupcakes, customer service and overall vibe. The flavors are different than any other bakery and have a balanced flavor, not too sugary. They all have the perfect frosting to cake ratio. There were several customers who walked in at the same time and Hector was the only one working. He was very personal with everyone and handled the small crowd professionally. He was so happy and made everyone's day who came in for a cupcake tonight.

I come in every Saturday to get some cupcakes on the way through Hillcrest. Yum yum. Especially the Oreo cupcake.

The red velvet was an overall favorite with our party, but I personally really enjoyed the orange flavor. The service was so friendly, the gentleman at the counter was super welcoming and helpful with pricing and packaging up my order to go. They had a ton of items in the case to choose from, along with assorted candles, cards and other party items. Very cute!

If you are wanting a gourmet tasting and looking cupcake that is also a very good sized cupcake I would recommend heading to Babycakes in Hillcrest. One of my wife's best friends brought a dozen red velvet cupcakes and we had to go back and see what other flavors they offer. I really to believe that the red velvet and peanut butter chocolate flavors are the best that we have tried here. The shop is very cute and quaint, there is a small lounge area that you can enjoy your cupcake if you dont wish to take it to go. The service is amazing, always ready to help with any questions you may have.

Yesterday I went in to purchase 2 cupcakes. I ended up leaving with 3 because of a new addition to the menu: a churro cupcake. It literally is one of the best cupcakes I ever tasted! If you don't order this one, you are missing out! I love this place. They are always so friendly and take pride in their bakery. It's clear they have a love for their cupcakes o please keep the churro cupcake forever!

I miss the old Babycakes Hillcrest that served food and was a bigger space, but at least we still have the cupcakes, cookies, cakes, and wonderful staff led by the fabulous Chris. Donald and Chad have always been and continue to be the sweetest. Sometimes we just pop our heads in to say hi or wave through the window if we're in a hurry. As for the sweet treats I love the flourless chocolate cake, the Baby cake cupcake (of course) and the creme brûlée cheesecake, but you can't go wrong with any of their items. Everything is delish, the decor is pretty, and the staff is wonderful.

I was craving something sweet and was pleasantly surprised by the cupcakes at Babycakes. I was expecting sugar overload, but the pistachio and blood orange cupcakes were the right amount of sweetness. The blood orange cupcake had blueberries at the bottom and a nice filling in the center. Customer service was excellent and the person behind the counter was very nice and easy to talk to.

Still amazing! It's been years since I've been back to Babycakes, think previous location years. My friend is a cake lover and gets Babycakes on a regular basis. When I was looking for cake to bring to the beach for another friend's birthday, Babycakes was the first place to come to mind. I liked the idea of having a variety of flavors to enjoy. The four flavors I got were: Raspberry Chocolate, Chocoholic, Blood Orange, and Tres Leches. Each cupcake was $4.50, almost Costco muffin size, and very shareable. I am so glad I got a variety of flavors because there was something to satisfy everyone. All the flavors were delicious, but my favorite was the Tres Leches. Flavors were delicious without being overly sweet. There are parking spots conveniently located out front. The employee working that day was so nice. When he heard I was buying cupcakes for a birthday, he gave me candles and a party hat to make the experience extra festive.

I work in Hillcrest and this is mine and my family's go to spot! We love it here and have never been disappointed in the service or the delicious sweets they offer. My go to's will always be the iced chai tea latte w/ almond milk with the blood orange cupcake. I honestly recommend this place to my customers whenever they are looking for some dessert after their meal. Such a cute place!!

this place is so cute and very professional. i commissioned this place for my sisters birthday and the cake design came out so cute and lovely! they were very quick to respond to my emails and coordinated well with me. the flavor i chose was their blood orange cake and it was spectacular. when picking up the cake, i decided to get some of their cupcakes and those cupcakes do not mess around. they're so delicious and dangerous. the churro cupcake was my absolute favorite.

I love and have always loved Babycakes. I love this location because it's not as turnt up as the last one and they have bubbles so you can turn that sweet tooth into a boozie sweet tooth. Bubbles make everything better. The service is always great and the cupcakes always look so delicious. I noticed the last time I visited there was something different about the cupcakes. They were good, but not as good as I remember. I don't know. Maybe an off day or something. Just means I have to go back on a different day to be sure;)
